@knowall, Oh please let them fight dirty! I like public mudslinging battles, don't be such a spoil sport. . . Maybe they will let slip on some illegal background deals too, who knows. . . |
Ibime:You captured my thoughts exactly. I too followed NLI's activities a bit and I was curiously waiting to see how Aganga will fare in office -if only to use him as another excuse to judge those around me who believe their "containment" ideas can work without us radically overturning Nigeria's fundamentally flawed system- ![]() The jury is still out, but the arguments are not in Aganga's favour. Also, I care little about the economic abracadabra here. I believe a brilliant theorist can always twist things in his favour and confuse the majority, but the integrity matters a lot to me all the same. Soludo raised some damning points, I'll wait for Aganga's response. I doubt he will say anything further though and that will be very sad indeed. I wish we can force them to debate for 12 hours with only two pure-water breaks, that will be so worth the amount we pay them for all those extra allowances. |
Hrm, but you can get some of these wall street jobs straight out of college, if that is what you want to do. No point getting the PhD when you can just enter the field directly (at least, in theory.)
Right. But who knows, with brains and achievements like that he might be able to invent some new, profitable esoteric trading method and impress folks enough to spin off a brand new hedge fund for himself. ![]() |
WTH!? Is this thread still about killing gay people? or murdering brainiacs?
PhD, then postdoc for some awful # of years (multiple postdocs, realistically), and even then might not be able to get a job. Too much wahala.
Don't feel sorry for him, dude will probably join a hedge fund and buy a whole physics department before he's 30 ![]() |
T9ksy:You did not lie. Esin kan o pe ka wa ma s’oro loosely translated; No faith hampers the rituals of our togetherness/culture. Yorubas don't do religious wars, they'll rather absorb your religion and make it succumb to the dictates of their culture. It may be difficult for a non-Yoruba to grasp, but the more you get the concept the better you understand what it means to be an Omo O'dua. Irunmoles don't hate. they ain't foolish either. |
LoveKing:I'll advice you not to click that link bro, I just puked! ![]() @OP: unless you are trying to raise an army that will put an end to this barbarism once and for all, abeg remove the link and preserve the dignity of those children. |
seanet03:Egba Omo Lisabi!! O ku ai gbagbe. . . |
^^Can't rule pure hate out. WTH! Is it by force to buy BMW?! |
@Eku_bear ok I will try to post a pic the British took before he died, I don't wanna add it now, his spirit likes war too much, he might turn y'alls little e-conflict into another thing. Hey. . Look him up sometime ![]() |
Let me put it this way. . . the day that Igbos threaten Lagos is the day that your entire race will be put in jeopardy. Not just in Lagos, but in your very heartland. Not trying to frighten you, but that is the reality. If you think Yoruba people hate you now. . . you've not seen anything yet. As things stand now, if Nigeria breaks apart, there will likely be relative peace. But if Lagos is scratched in the process. . . there can only be longstanding enmity and warfare. And in a context like that in which I am at war with you and your people. . . well, you will end up my slaves. Simple as that.
Ekitiman, Ever heard of Ogedengbe Agbogungboro? He was the Balogun of Ilesha, Seriki Ajanaku of Ijeshaland, Commander-in-Chief of the Ekiti Parapo Army ![]() Total terror! |
Oga DK, our Igbo brothers suppose give you correct Igwe title for your efforts towards ensuring Igbo unity, or maybe one good Igbo gal will do ![]() |
His confusion was compounded when on checking in to his hotel, he discovered Ankara Tommy Hilfiger bedspreads and matching pillowcases.LOL @ Mr Jowo Mabinu ![]() Can't get enough of Wazobia Reports ![]() |
This is too bad. It shows the danger faced by those who actually put their faces and names on their activism work. I hope his family gets justice soon. So sad. |
Hey! You're a night owl. You're in Naija, right? Very nice pic and pretty girl.
I'm never in one place, so I'll just say home is in the head, heart is in Odu'a countryside ![]() Yes you guessed right, I prefer the night. . . . . .The night is more alive and more richly colored than the day - Van Gogh I don't know where Jenifa's from. To be honest, the girl in the profile (don't know if it's her) looks like a number of girls in my extended family. Different look for me - people don't know if I'm Yoruba, Benin or Igbo.hahaha you are probably from Benin, I'll confirm from Becomrich. |
Hey Jenifa, great pic! what country is she from? I don't think there's anything or any creature on earth that is more beautiful than a bright eyed Black African girl. A billion$ check in my name comes a very very close second. |
^^ I tell ya! |
Although the row was settled through mediation by local elders, the table was later burned. SMHSeriously though, it seems anything can trigger ethnic and religious conflicts in Nigeria except the actions of our elite lootocrats. I can't wait for the day my folks will drop the weapons, quit fighting themselves for a while, and join hands together to fight their looter-leaders, The real enemies. |
I naively assumed Madam Dora was a "Rebranded" Nigerian, someone who has risen above all these ethnic politics. . . What about pure merit? I slap myself back to reality. |
^^ smh |
Kilode, well I am told to stay the high ground and not go into discussions that hurt emotions. So my apology for even bringing it up folks. However, I am still open to contribute in discussions to the healing process and the way forward.
OK bro, I'm sure that will be beneficial too. |
In other news; The great Nigerian Military wants to go and save the good people of Ivory Coast from oppression and peacefully prevent mass killing in that country. . . |
Obiagu1:I think I get you a bit now. You believe you know all about human nature right? Obiagu, my brother, reduce the pride a bit. Doubt, skepticism and humility can be great virtues sometimes. Compassion too. I can bet, YOU plus the whole collection of brains and intellect at Harvard, MIT and Cambridge combined cannot say for certain what human nature is. The totality of it, the breadth of it, all it encompasses or excludes. We do not know for sure. We don't know everything about human nature yet, we keep discovering everyday. Obiagu, Bro, Let us embrace critical intellectual humility. I may not like the guy's life style(that's if it's simply a lifestyle) but I don't think I can kill him for fighting for his own liberty, freedom and self expression. I'm done with the topic. |
morpheus24:Please do. I don't think it's copyrghted yet, I read it somewhere I can't remember now ![]()
P.S. I hugged a transformer, and I'm fine.
Abeg o, don't hug transformer during rainy season o ![]() |
Obiagu1:Bro, argue now. Show me where I mentioned stealing a pen or beating your wife. I gave two examples. 1. Forced and arranged marriages and societies that victimize and sometimes kill those who speak out against them. 2. Killing someone because they spoke out against an oppressive blasphemy law( If you don't know Taseer's story, google it) If you want to justify the killing of gays because you believe their act is satanic, fine. But then, you should be OK with the killing of anyone whose act is considered satanic anywhere. See, let me break it down to you. If you want to be a bigot, it is OK. I think it's better to be an equal opportunity bigot though ![]() |
Obiagu1:Quit side stepping the point, argue with intellectual honesty. You said; how many of them came out to become "activists" on such things?to me, that suggests that you think it is OK to kill him in that manner because he spoke out actively in support if the gay lifestyle. and I asked further: You know there are still places around where you will get a target on your back because you dare speak out against forced/arranged marriages, right? does that mean you should shut up?If you don't like the first comparison question, answer the second one. Do you also support the killing of Governor Taseer for speaking out actively against those blasphemy laws? (some of his countrymen consider his stance satanic too) I will appreciate if you can answer. |
Obiagu1:So your own solution is to celebrate the extra judicial public execution of those who publicly speak out in support of their own chosen sexual lifestyles? You know there are still places around where you will get a target on your back because you dare speak out against forced/arranged marriages, right? does that mean you should shut up? Note: Salman Taseer the Pakistani Governor was recently gunned down in public for speaking out actively against oppressive islamic blasphemy laws. I guess you are a christian. Do you support his killer too? |
Obiagu1:Unfortunately I cannot remember the last time we gave someone accused of "bestiality such brutish, definitely "bestial" mob execution. Refresh our memory please. |
@Jarus, can you send Salim Hassan an e-mail and ask him to come on Nairaland to defend his thoughts and analysis? He might say no and he might oblige us, assure him it will be well moderated. ![]() |
I need one or two of your people who are interested in digging up the root of this conflict so we can make true assessment and pinpoint (1) where your folks went wrong; (2) where you are now; (3) where you wantto go and (4) how to get there.
Is someone going to take Negro_Nts up on his challenge? I think it will enrich the discourse here. Any takers? |
fstranger1:Ultimately no. That was a Morpheus and Neo moment between Aare and I, we reconciled it before the Oracle. Replace "absurdity" with "awesomeness" and it will be clearer ![]() |
Becomrichn:Aare wa, you finally promoted me to the list! and to think you delivered a masterpiece of purely inspired absurdity afterwards? I'm honoured ![]() |
I haven't even begun to write my personal thoughts. They "can't handle the truth." ![]() We're not gonna do hookups. You didn't read the small print? That was just a joke. Am gonna edit it out.I said I am proud my African brother is president. P.S. Stranger is the one ripping him to shreds! Okay, I'm disappointed, but I wouldn't say it out loud - in person. I'm jaded about Ameican Politics cos I've studied and paid attention to it for so long.
Ok I misunderstood. Don't edit. leave it, it fits the flow of the thread. I know, You shouldn't be listening to SOTU speeches anyway, you probably know too much about how those things work, I watched it with a cynical mind and a myself.I believe Fstranger is keeping with the warrior tradition of putting foreigners where they belong. . . Ok, I'll take my leave now, check back again soon. Thoughts for now: Frequent updates will keep it alive, folks will probably keep coming back if it's consistently updated with Nigerians-living-in-USA issues. |
