I have a 24 yrs old friend who is still in University but a great dad to his 3yrs old daughter and he's not too well to do but he lives up to his responsibilty as the father of his kid.

Now to think a 30 yr old who is even working is thinking of throwing a potential cute baby away is just sickening!! angry

I'm going to be very blunt....

You should be ashamed that at your age you're still thinking of things like abortion....when some of your mates don born 2 dey reason 3rd one sef...

Better brace yourself and live up to your responsibility..

I am 30 years, a contract staff in a commercial bank with a low income of abt 60k, Although I have my HND, but as a result of the trending dichotomy between HND and Bsc holders, I have recently opted for a direct entry programme to enable me brace up with current workforce demands.
My girlfriend, on the other hand is a final year student in a reputable Nigerian university I don't understand why it is at this point of my current desire to go for a degree that she would get pregnant For the record, I love my girlfriend so much that I don't want to loose her. Dear nairalanders, I need your candid advise on whether to keep the baby or not. Matured advise pls

We've always been friends since we met but we haven't seen each other for some times now.
This isn't really about sex. We just need some time alone to talk. He's serious about me.

Should I rather invite him home so he could meet my peeps?
It depends on what you both want to talk about. If the talk is about what could make or mar the relationship, then I wouldn't introduce him to my folks yet until I am sure of where the relationship is heading.

But if you guys already have a direction and you just want to talk catch up on issues, then by all means, introduce him already.

Whatever it is, don't lie to your folks just to spend the night with him. If the relationship has not gotten to that stage where you can comfortably tell them where you are going and they won't mind, then be patient and wait for that time. #my2cents

Hi everyone!
I really need some good advice.
I'm in a lovely relationship with this guy and it's been a distant relationship. We've been dating close to a year now and I've not made it official to my family and I'm finally going to see him again after two years we first met.
The problem now is that, I stay with my family and I go to work from home and his coming would mean i'd spend the night and the whole of this weekend with him. My peeps might not grant me the permission to sleep out. They're strict.
What should I do? Should I tell them I'll spend the weekend with him?
They might not understand me. That's my fear or should I cook up some lies to cover up? sad
Please help a lovesick girl. embarassed
You say you are going to see him again after two years when you both first met. i.e you met him once, maybe at his location, then you did not see him for 2 years; but now you secretly want to spend the weekend with him...and se.x is not part of the plan?? shocked

Well babes, you gotta be very very careful here. I will also be very scared for you if you were my daughter because you barely know him and this is only your second meeting. And be careful about the se.x part, it might not be part of the plan but the odds of it happening is quite high.

Please I would like to know how best to store the expressed milk. For example, let's say I expressed 90 ml, n she drinks only 60 ml, can the remaining be stored again in the fridge or thrown away. also when is best to express, at work? Or after work. sorry for the long post, I work very far from where I live so I can't shuttle it in between during the day. So whatever I express will be used then formula will take over till I return.

Please I need advice on how best to go about it. Thanks.
What type of milk pump do you use? If available, you can get about 4 bottles from the same maker. You can then express the quantity he drinks per feed in each of these bottles and store them in the fridge. Try and keep them in a separate compartment in the fridge to keep the freshness. Using the same bottles reduces manual handling of the milk thereby reducing the risk of contamination.

As per milk remnant, to avoid wastage, express just what he needs per feed in a bottle. But if there is any remnant, its not advisable to put it back in the fridge. Instead try and give it to him within the hr.

If you have a fridge in the office, pls go ahead to express at work and keep it in the office freezer so it retains its temperature till you get home and then keep in the fridge for the next day. The breast is usually very full in the morning, so you can also express then but most importantly, just find the best time that suits you.

Then you no no get problem naa. Lol

If she collects adult food with spoon, don't worry yourself jare. It's not like she will still need to learn how to use spoon later. She already knows it.

The day will come very soon when she will start accepting. You can just continue trying weekly or maybe bi-weekly to see if she has changed.

http://www.punchng.com/feature/chinese-have-taken-over-our-businesses-nigerian-furniture-makers-lament/

This exemplifies what I was saying here.

They are now whining after the Chinese have entered the market and do fantastic work with good customer services.
The most frustrating set of Nigerians are clearly the artisans. If you carry their matter for head, they are sure to kill one before time. No doubt about that. But again, have people really found a better solution in the Chinese?? shocked shocked I am actually surprised Punch said their workers are all Chinese. I know they don't roll like that. I need more witness to that.

The Nigerians will ruin your pocket, ruin your day; the Chinese will ruin your economy lipsrsealed

Saga, have you read any material on the Chinese economic strategy? Esp in Africa? Pls do if you have not. I think there are some couple of videos on YouTube too.

From a bird's eye view of this problem you highlighted and the solutions adopted, do you think we are on the right path? What do you propose?

Another example of the institutional connections I was talking about.

Here is a woman that is allegedly being lined up for the position as CEO of M&S.

Exactly as I stated:

https://www.nairaland.com/1579818/girls-night-out-discussions/29#37013659

She didn't even bother changing her surname despite being married twice. It must be helping.

By the way Laura Wade-Gery attended Cheltenham Ladies' College for high school.

That is a mere £33K per year in school fees if you were to send your daughter there today.

Last year out of the 125 girls from the school heading to university. 88 were going to a Russell Group University with 10 heading for Oxford and 9 to Cambridge.

9 to Bristol and UCL, 8 to KCL, 6 to LSE, 4 to Durham and 3 to Imperial.

Not bad odds, init? Almost half of them are going to the Top 10 UK universities. grin grin grin grin

Why do some babies behave this way, i tried all my best to spoon feed my baby his cereal but to no avail,he wont just take it and if i manage to force it to his mouth he would spit it out and everywhere messed up. sincerely am fed up and the funny thing is that he takes it with bottle feeding. Pls hope there is no disadvantages or side effect in bottle feeding cereal to babies? He is 6months plus.
For the first 3 days to one week, it might be like this but it gets better with time.

There is really no big advantage other than the fact that his food might be restricted to only cereals, pap and milk. Yet, at 6 month plus, babies need to expand their diet.

Even as you bottle feed him, continue to try spoonfeeding. Spoonfeed him when he is hungry as he might be more willing to eat it then.

My daughter's caregiver said the same thing because she spoon feeds her cereal and she collects it well while i bottle feed her cereal because i feel spoon feeding is slow and a lot of work and i want the feeding to be fast so i can move on to something else.
Lol....I feel you my sister. Spoon feeding babies sure teaches one how to be patient.

But then, we can't run away from it. Pls try to create time for it, even if it is once per day so he can get used to it. They surely can't use bottles forever. And the good thing is that it get easier with time.

Hello mamas, please i need some contributions. My baby is 2 months plus and is on EBF. i feed him anytime he gets cranky or sucks his finger. What I'm trying to say is that he feeds at least once in 1hr 30mins.

I'm starting work soon and really want to EBF him for 6months. How many mil will i express that will take him from 8am to 1pm when i'll be home to express more and 2pm to 6pm when i'll be home. Please mamas with experince, how did you do it?
Thanks in advance.
Try and establish your routine for him before you actually start work so he can get used to it. Start expressing and bottle feeding him now so you can determine how much he takes and when he takes it. Then it will be easier for him to adjust when you start work.

It's difficult to use other people's estimates before babies feed differently.

Good day mummys in the house. Pls my baby is five wks and he has cough and catarrh. I'm using Evans septrin for him but he still have difficulty in breathing. A friend recommends ampiclox drops. Pls I don't know if I should combine the two or give only ampiclox. Meanwhile I say kudos to the op and all the sabi-mamas in the house its quite educating
Pls let him finish his septrin dosage and don't use anything else for now. My son had both about 3 weeks after birth and the Dr advised me not to use any drugs on him so he could build his immunity. After a week, it went on its own. He is 6 months now and has not had it since then.

Antibiotics are very powerful drugs and shouldn't be administered consistently on babies or even adults like paracetamol.
