modath: @kimoni, Your assessment is on point, the midwives @ the GH where I had my son turned us away from lotions during d ANCs cos they explained that oyibo weather different from our own and not all babies will take to it. They also advised that we should be careful if we still intend to use it and not allow it get under the navel when the cord hasn't fallen. My son took it to another level and had rashes from just using the baby soap,Imperial lather was butter on his skin, olive oil kept him shiny like a newly polished shoe.
@fexcathy, Waiting.................... And you can take cough linctus and piriton for the cough. Safe delivery and happy baby.. Xoxo I need to try the olive oil sometime too. Thanks |

IyawoToBe: Do you mix it with anything? Since it's usually not in liquid form, it needs a lot of message to spread all over the skin. Wouldn't that be too hard for a baby's tender skin? #JustCurious No, I don't mix it with anything, I use my hand to rub on the solidified butter and use the oiliness of my hand to rub his body. It's almost like I am using Vaseline on him. And no, it's not too hard on his skin cuz it's all natural and unadulterated, same reason why olive oil is recommended too. I prefer it to the various chemicals combined in most baby lotions, which I think is sometimes too harsh for newborns but at the end of the day, it all boils down to mothers' preference. |

Mzora: Gudmornin mamas, pls my 5 days old daughter is having dis little rashes on her forehead, what can I use to clear it and one of her eyes is bringing out mucus.after cleaning it will come again .pls sabi mamas help me out. Also want can I use for her skin so it will be smooth. Looks like our babies came from the same world my baby had had these issues too. For the secretions from the eyes, I first cleaned it with a cotton wool dipped in boiled water and then squeeze the water out. Ensure you do not use the same part twice. Then I applied a little breast milk and it was gone the next day. Pls also ensure that water do not get into his eyes while bathing. For the rashes, I just kept on using the Shea butter which is what I use for him anyway and it would always clear up. |

mytestimony: What is this thing about not using baby lotion for new born? Abeg make una answer me o. Let me explain it the way the mw explained to me- The lotion sometimes block the skin openings of newborns and encourage baby rashes and other skin irritations, hence I was advised to use natural products as much as possible for the first few months. I was actually told to use olive oil but I tried sheabutter cuz it's natural as well and it's been perfect for my baby. That said, all babies are different and some might not react to lotion but with Naija heat, hmnnnnnnn |

Motun31: Good evening Mamas in the house. Is boot oil, powder n soap good for babies. N had cream shouldnt be applied on baby's body until 6 months except sheabutter. Boots products are very ok but be sure of the source to ensure they are original products. Used them for my first baby and had no regrets. Got the products from Boots directly or a trusted source on Lagos Island. No powder for me in the first 6 months though. I use sheabutter for the first month and mix it with baby cream in subsequent months to prevent dryness. |

ritayoung: Pls mamas in the house I need advise on how to manage heart burn in pregnancy, I just started having heart burn recently I don't know the cause of it...especially at night.... Tnx Hmnnnnnnn This is one of dem pregnancy packages my dear, but good thing is it stops when the baby descends down to ur pelvic area freeing up ur tommy. For now, try and eat food in bits instead of one full meal you are used to especially at night which is when it disturbs you. Some food also trigger the heart burn, for me it used to be beans so I avoided it all through, so look for those food that trigger it and avoid them for now. |

cutekonkolo: Goodd morning Mamas in the ouse, Happy sunday to us all. I went for a scan yesterday at 33weeks 3days, and the estimated weight of my baby was shown to be 2.7kg, this is d same weight my friend's LO weighed at birth and knowing fully well babies continue adding fat till wen they reach term. Please mamas, is this weight not on the high side at d stage? Then if yes, what can I do to slow down d weight before full term. I am worried cos I don't think I can handle biggy baby during delivery. Your baby's weight is okay and will not come too big as you think. Pls relax and trust God that ur delivery will be seamless. There is nothing much you can do to stop baby from adding weight or growing. It's a natural process. All the best! |

mytestimony: My doctor believes in leaving the baby in the womb for as long as possible as there is much brain development that continued until the 40th week. I've heard of other doctors who will do scheduled c-sections anywhere from 36 weeks on but I would rather go as close to the due date as possible. Una wey they push the anointing come my side thanks alot but I am still flexing my cute bump. Infact doctors won't touch your baby until about 42 weeks. The scheduled C-Section are always due to one problem or the other with the pregnancy and when it becomes safer to deliver the baby alive that take some risk leaving it in the womb. From 37 weeks, the baby becomes a full term ie fully developed, and good to come out anytime after. Most women prefer for them to come out after this time cuz they just keep getting bigger inside and labour tends to become more difficult in most cases. But ultimately, ur baby will decided when he or she wants to show face so relax - |
