justwise: @Op.
Get some stronger backbone and stick with your wife, you have been married to her for more than 4 years with 2 lovely kids, destroying your marriage now because of your meddling mother is foolish, leave your wife to do what? Start afresh with another woman recommended by your mum? Your wife can apologise to your mum later but your marriage moves on. |

Chillis: The man is not a kid for him not to know of any indigestion.
People should learn to respect others.
If the man wants to eat his mother's Amala , then let him!
Or, she learns to say things without hurting any party. All these petty petty problems of MIL , DIL. Exactly! OP, not everything is worth fighting over, learn to choose your battles |

sheweezy: Hearing this for the first time, i thought they say the best position to put a baby is to make the baby sleep on the stomach or side so if he wants to pour out milk it can easily flow to the bed or something rather than put them on the back. i thought the putting them on the back is the one that chokes them? please i am unclear about this. AFTM thats why i am asking cos i dont know ni o That was the belief then but due to the incessant cases of choking, doctors now advise that babies be put on thier back to sleep. The milk will still pour out even when babies lie on their back. |

rezzy: My baby and I had cough early this month. We took neofylin, it worked for me but didn't work for him. So I bought cofflin for him, it s still not working. He doesn't cough often but sometimes, when he breaths, it sounds as if catarrh is in his throat or abi lungs don't know which. Abeg, what could that be? Pls be sure that the cough mixture you are using is safe for breastfeeding mothers, most are not. I had cough too early this month but surprisingly, my doctor didn't give me any cough medicine to use and when i expressed my fears of passing it on to my baby, he said it will only build his immunity level. Truly, he got the cough from me but it went on its own after about a week. |

Hello mamas, pls lets be careful how we place children to sleep on their tummys especially when we are not there with them. When they are still very young and not able to lift their heads up, it might be better to lay them to sleep on their back to reduce the risk of choking.
Well done to everyone! |

Personally, I won't advise any intending bride to become a permanent stay at home wife. There are no guarantees in life, anything can happen. It also diminishes the self esteem of some women. Yet, it's also not okay for any working class woman to look down on the SAHMs. It has its numerous advantages also. There is nothing like a mother giving her children 24/7 care and attention as against having to outsource this important role to a minder, nanny or house help. There is reason why it is mothers and MILs that do omugwo. Looks like I am talking from both sides of my mouth se . Well my siblings and I were raised by a SAHM and we could never have achieved what we have today if not that she was always there for us. I had become a professional accountant even before I finished my undergraduate study Cuz she was always there for me 24/7 through these tedious times, travelling every now and then, risking her life on those journeys to provide whatever I needed. This is asides the constant encouragement and emotional support. Same with all my siblings. We owe her all that we have and will ever achieve. But growing up, I know she always wanted to work but my dad refused. She often had very low moments and sometimes would cry cuz she believed her self worth was nil. My heart bled for her during those times but today, I am a beneficiary of her sacrifice. Right now, she only has to mention a need and my siblings and I will be falling over ourselves to get it for her, still I wonder if that is enough compensate for her "lost" years and if she will live the same way if given the chance. Hence, my love and respect for SAHMs but will I live the same kind of life? Capital NO however, I strive hard to achieve both goals. And I will also not advise anybody to do same except it comes from their heart. My mom had a supportive man, so it was ok, what if my dad had turned out to be an abuser like we have in so many marriages these days? Not forgetting that an angel today can become a monster tomorrow. Herzumpther, how is pops? |

Herzumpther: Remember the last mail I sent you? I'm feeling very very uncomfortable. Take things easy and slow. Like she said, dad has agreed does not mean he must be the one. While it is normal to have cold feet, there has to be a strong conviction from your heart and you must be at peace with yourself regarding this decision. Ultimately, only YOU can take the final decision concerning this matter. |

Rose2014: Yet another abusee dies in the hands of an abuser. So so sad Dinachi are u happy now? According to you, women deserve to be beaten by their husbands cos they must have provoked him to lay his hand on them . So your campaign seems to be paying off
Chai the woman didn't even die immediately after the beating o but some days after. Victims of violence should always endeavor to get medical attention no matter how mild the beating is. Rip madam.

If I hear they send him to jail. Nah, they should free him and give him internet access so he can come and open a thread to justify his action here on nairaland I'll be very disappointed in dinachi if he doesn't personally get involved in this case to ensure the man gets a good team of lawyers to convince the jury the late wife was evil, demented, devilish, crazy, stoopid and the chief abuser in this case. The jury needs to know the man was only reacting...death was just a co-incidence here |

kaffy4bill: Gripe water, bitter kola, paracetamol for a baby is aa NO NO, dats y u r asked not to tell ur doc cos they knw dey won't agree to it. We don't even prescribe multivites in my hosp and neva used for my kids, exclusively bosom fed them and they drink water well, either u bosom fed or not children grow differently. Pls b careful ao u approach d matter wit mil, u can talk to ur hubby and let him take over in discussing wit her. The baby system is nt matured for all dose tinz oo I beg. Even excessive paracetamol use in adults have side effects and sum pple even don't tolerate it nt to talk of babies. All the best sis Mothers pls listen to this. There is really no need for all these stuffs we are giving to babies, agreed it may not harm them but it impedes the power of their natural body to fight against immunities. Let's allow their bodies to grow stronger by letting it build its own antibodies. Babies are a lot stronger than we think. As per water, I have always combined formula and breast milk for my kids and I do not give water till 6 months when they start taking solids because both milk contain about 80% water already. Yes, I know this is very controversial but even if we want to give water, pls let it be very minimal our babies need milk and not water at this stage. Water should not replace feeding. I know it's a running battler with our mothers and mils' and it requires a lot of wisdom to handle. God help us. |
