We've had many presidents ever since then. They all recognised the country. Let's not be biased
Really? I never saw nor heard any other President in this democratic dispensation who openly supported the independence of Sahrawi Republic except Buhari

What is shocking is this same president recognises that some people have the right to be independent but says that the same right of others in Nigeria is terrorism

Why would he be arrested?

In a sane society, does the Army go to the house of a man out on bail to kill him for no reason?

I read that he even pledged to help them get independence as an Islamic state...
And he was busy murdering Biafrans fighting for the same independence!
You see it. Buhari is full of Hypocrisy. Sahrawi Republic is an area seeking independence from Morocco and Buhari has openly supported their independence right from time. Here is Buhari receiving their unofficial President

But if some people seek independence from Nigeria as Biafra Buhari will say:

"The unity of Nigeria is not negotiable!"

"They are terrorists!"

"Declare Python dance!"

When it comes to Christian Biafrans, Buharis 'red eye's will show

When it comes to Christian Ambazonians from Cameroon, Buhari will deport them

But when it comes to his Muslim brothers in Sahrawi, Buhari will become very understanding and supportive

What a bigot

Time will tell.
Not possible. This is where Igbos are very different from Yorubas and Hausa-Fulani. Igbos are too decentralised that it is virtually impossible for anybody to be a God father. Igbos dont like God fathers and when anybody tries to be a God father in Igbo land, Igbos will cut him down to size. An example is Rochas Okorocha who boasted he would install his don inlaw. He is currently hanging to his Senate seat by a thread.

TA Orji and his son will be finished in 2023 because by then, the current Governor will have other ideas..........
PoliticsRe: The Declaration That Will Restore Ndigbo's Place In Nigeria by kingzizzy: 2:38pm On Jun 13, 2019
netpro:
That we, Ndigbo are 100% Nigerians. We have no other country except Nigeria. That we are not just surviving in Nigeria, but we are committed to join other Nigerians from all parts of the Federation to build the Nigeria of our collective aspiration. That we forgive those that have hurt and offended us in the past and ask never again. We are proudly Nigerians.
As an Igbo man, the above declaration is one of the most foolish things I have ever read in my life and goes contrary to the egalitarian and confederal nature of Igbos.

It's almost like declaring eternal slavery to a country the white man created called Nigeria

It is the right of the Igbos to decide what country they want to be in or if they want a separate country of their own.

It is not to be declaring patriotism to a Nigeria that is the poverty capital of the world, ravaged by herdsmen and Boko haram, destroyed by corruption and nepotism, led by incompetent and visionless leaders.

No wonder Kanu called it a "zoo". Who would pledge allegiance to a zoo? Certainly not Igbos

What do you mean he doesn't meddle in present affairs of the nation? He was in Aso Rock with GEJ the day the presidential results came out in 2015 to impress it that Buhari be allowed to rule.

He was at it again in the recent presidential elections when Atiku confirmed in his press conference that Abdulsalami called asking him not to contest the presidential elections

PoliticsRe: A Burning National Question by kingzizzy: 7:44am On Jun 13, 2019
The history of the civil war is out there for whoever is willing to put in the time and effort to get it. The internet has helped a lot.

It's not just about getting the Nigerian or Biafran side of the story but getting the story its self as transpired in the early 1960's.

The remote cause of the war

The fact that the British brought together the Hausa-Fulani, Yoruba and Igbo ethnic groupings without considering if all could co-exist along with their different ideological, cultural, traditional and religious differences. When three people with very different character traits are forced to live together under one roof, it wont be long before one of them will want to get out of the house or there will be a fight.

The immediate cause of the war

After the British left in 1960, the unworkable nature of Nigeria manifested its self. Political turmoil took over the place. Daily killings, attacks, strife and violence became the norm. A group of officers stepped in to end the madness and this led to a coup, counter coup, blame game, pogrom and genocide.

In a last ditch attempt to save Nigeria from total chaos, the military leaders of the 4 Reguons met in, Aburi, Ghana to find a solution. They reached an agreement and it was signed. The agreement basically gave the Regions more powers to police themselves and control their destiny. They all returned to Nigeria and for a little while, peace returned, until the federal government under General Gowon revoked the agreement without due consultation. Not only was the agreement revoked, Gowon also announced the abolishment of the 4 Regions. This was the needle that broke the camels back. In retaliation, the Eastern consultative assembly told the Military Governor of the East, Ojukwu, that since the federal government could not keep to the agreement that was signed, he should declare the Eastern Region a separate country. Ojukwu did that and the federal government declared war.

Wars are caused by disagreement and in the case of the Biafran/Nigeria war, it was caused by the federal government of Gowon not keeping to an agreement . It is to hide the fact that the Northern backed government of Gowon caused the war is why the history of the war is not taught in schools

PoliticsRe: 9th Assembly And The Calamitous Fall Of Ndigbo.. by kingzizzy: 6:49pm On Jun 12, 2019
CowHard:
The inauguration of the ninth assembly which took place on the 11th of June has come and gone but the events and proceedings are still worthy of discussion.
Senator Ahmed Lawan clinched the Senate presidency with Senator Ovie Omo-Agege clinching the deputy slot.

At the green chambers, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila clinched the speakership position while Hon Idris Ahmed Wase got the deputy speaker slot.
However, the aftermath of the NASS elections meant Igbos and South Eastern geopolitical zone got practically nothing.

The proceedings also highlighted the unpreparedness of Ndigbo in the polity and politics of Nigeria. The shameful outing brought to the fore, the lackadaisical and politics of vengeance inherent in this part of the country.

While the eventual winners of the NASS elections were vigorously campaigning and canvassing for votes, our lawmakers went holidaying, expecting to be handpicked and decorated with the winners medal.

The two high ranking senator-elects in the person of the immediate past governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha and his Imo counterpart, senator Uwajumogu who were in a better position to clinch the elective slots were tactically chased away from the national assembly complex with the court while Ndigbo watched and cheered.

Before the composition of the NASS leadership, South East had three elected senators on the platform of the ruling party APC which are Rochas Okorocha, Orji Kalu and Senator Uwajumogu of Imo north senatorial district.
But in a dramatic fashion, two out of the three elected senators had their certificates withdrawn, leaving the region with just a single member in a chamber of 109 senators.

I'm not a fan of Rochas Okorocha and his #iberiberism governance in Imo state but the role he was to play at the red chambers supersedes whatever ills that characterized the politics of Imo state.

Politics calls for a serious permutations and calculations. Gone are the days of ethnic jingoism and victim mentality.
Femi Gbajabiamila toured virtually all the states of federation canvassing for support but ours was to cheer as the only options with a brighter chance got schemed out by the very hegemonic cabals.

We readily cry of being marginalized but in the truest of the whole issue, we are the architect of our misfortune.
The South east has never hidden their hatred for the APC led federal government hence the indifference in the imbroglios that schemed out her bright prospects from the NASS leadership composition.

To compound the whole scenario, the region presented, or rather nominated senator Ike Ekweremadu for senate deputy slot. This is a senator that has held the deputy president position for a record 12 years. The same senator left a bitter taste in the mouth of the ruling party when he clinched his position through the back door at the composition of the 8th Senate.

He was rousingly defeated by his competitor thus seeing to a decline in his political influence.

At the moment, Igbos are left with no strong political force and a strong contender for the 2023 election even if it's zoned to the region.
To Ndigbo, the composition of the NASS leadership is a mere jamboree but to others, it's a warm up to the next general elections.

The dearth of politics of alignment has made the region to be more or less onlookers in the leadership composition of the federation.
At a point, we claim not be interested in the politics of the country but before one says jack, we are back crying of being marginalized.

The South west aligned, lobbied and were rewarded with ministerial portfolios despite enjoying the vice presidency slot.
Raji Fashola is the minister for works, housing and power. Three powerful portfolios!!
Where went my brothers when the food was being served?

Under the PDP, we cried, wept and wailed of marginalization. Is there anything wrong if we give the current ruling party a try? I thought they said there's no harm in trial?
Igbos, while we fight ourselves to destruction, strangers are busy scooping and taking up the slots meant for us.

Odoh Ugochukwu writes from Enugu Ezike
Nigeria has become world porverty capital, there is widespread unemployment, insecurity and death everywhere

But the only thing some people like above care about is what political position went to who? Useless political positions that has never helped the common man out there and only benefits a few greedy politicians

Political relevance in a hellhole called Nigeria is not as important to the Igbo man some would want

So? Nzam in Anambra has a border with the Igalas of Kogi. There are many Igalas in Nzam who speak fluent Igbo. The fact that you go to Nzam town and meet Igalas that speak Igbo does not mean that Nzam people are Igala in any way, Nzam has always been an Igbo town.

So the fact that you go to Northern Nsukka, that also has border with Igalas of Kogi, and meet some Igalas that speak Igbo there does not mean Nsukka is is in any way Igala.

AbaLion:
As soon as Ovie Omo Agege was declared the elected Deputy Senate President of the newly inaugurated 9th Senate, celebrations rent the air from across every part of the country except that the Igbos were cold.
Igbos hardly could stomach the defeat of their son to a son from the Urhobo constituent part of the Niger Delta. As at the time of my writing, No Igbo has been seen to have congratulated the new DSP. Some of them, including a Nairalander( igbo), created a thread announcing his quitting politics on the account of the defeat of Ekweremadu while many others, in a very shameful manner with shared sentiments, derided the person of the distinguished Senator Omo Agege with all kinds of insults so much so their forked tongue hypocrisy was made more prominent. Their reactions to say the least were utterly disgusting, whereupon the South South however must have a rethink.

Shortly after his humiliating defeat, Ekweremadu, in a bid to save face, gave a reason so stupid that makes him look too stupid in the eyes of a slowpoke. It came to no sane individual as a shock that his kinsmen would parrot his line of thoughts much as ridiculously as they are naturally wired.
Why are they conveniently unhappy with the SSoutherners those at ease they hypocritically tag along?

Consider this for a second; If Goodluck Jonathan had contested and won the 2011 Presidential election against an Igbo candidate, Would the Igbos have been happy with the South South?.. Before you say Yes, gently ponder on the atavistic egoism of an average group of people who consider it an affront having the minority SS knock them off the perch, down the lower rung of national relevance. Do you think such a people would have been graceful in defeat?.. But thankfully, Gej contested against a Northerner, thereby their support for him was robust and seemingly genuine.

However, this thread is not aimed to disparage any tribe rather a reawakening of the consciousness of an average SSner to age long falsehoods, wickedly culture of fake love and hypocritical political alignment for the sole purpose of economic domination. Quite unfortunately, a lot many SSners had lost touch with a sense of history of the pre-independence when their forebears were marginalized, victimized and subjugated during the defunct Eastern Igbo-dominated regional government. The voice of the past minorities couldn't have been wrong neither do the present elites of the minority subgroups whose disaffections for their friendly oppressors could have been more vociferous. The lesson thereof to the South South is such that they must get rid of the monkey off their back and believe that they could achieve whatever they desire just as they did earlier today. South South Be Wise!

-Lion
Very pointless write up. Why would Igbos be jumping up at the seat of Deputy Senate presidency? Igbos did not even jump up when Ike Ekweremadu was elected Deputy Senate President in 2015. Igbos have held all the political posts in Nigeria from President to to common councillor so why would Igbos be be celebrating the election of Omo Agege?

And the so called SS you are talking about, you think the Efik man cares if Omo Agege is Deputy senste leader? Or the Ogoja man cares about Omo Agege? They dont even know where Urohbo land is.
