AmTruth: It's becoming a reality and fact that the South South are becoming more mature in Nigeria politics than the South East.
1. The Chairmen of the two major political parties are from the South South.
* APC. .. Comrade Adams Oshiomole of Edo
* PDP.... Uche Secondus of Rivers.
2. The immediate past president Dr Goodluck Jonathan of Bayelsa. I am convinced that a South Southerner would be given the presidency anytime it moves back to the South after 2023 set of the South West.
South East wake up and learn to love her whom you hate. No one allows the one who Hates her to Lead her. A word is enough for the wise
Just looking forward to what would unfold in the inauguration of the National Assembly, who knows they will still clinch a Viable sit.
This is one of the reasons Why the South South is Totally and unarguably different from the South East. Look up for more evidence.
We are proudly South South.
God bless Nigeria
Go and rest please, being wise in politics will not feed anybody except a few greedy politicians
The leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, has commented on the video of him and his wife which went viral a few months ago. Kanu, while answering questions at a town hall meeting in Toronto, Canada, told the audience that the enemies of Biafra are everywhere. He said...
"The same people stole my phone and published the video of me and my beautiful wife, thinking that people will hate me"
"People then started posting pictures of themselves and their wives and they ran away"
"If you accept the colonial name 'Nigeria' that was imposed on you by the white man then you are lower than animal"
I will chip this in just to keep the reality before us, at least for posterity sake. Truth is bitter but it's still the best medicine.
My people say; 'He who does not remember where the rain started beating him, will not remember where it stopped'.
REWIND TO 2014. A new National Party was being conceived. Political Parties, political players and Regions were being wooed to the new alliance.
'We' Igbos (read South East) vehemently refused to touch it even with a long pole. We packaged, sold to ourselves and bought the baseless propaganda that it was an Islamic alliance that would birth an "Islamic" and "Hausa" Party. Simply because those our brethren heavily invested in the PDP at the time were afraid of losing their vested selfish interests. Till today I'm still trying to fathom the basis for that wicked and twisted deceit especially as many of those Igbo elites who sold that dummy have since ported to the same APC.
We failed to even identify with that new Alliance. Hence the Party, APC was birthed without any remarkable input from us or presence. The few amongst us who aligned were called all kinds of names and abused to high heavens by us even when they were proven right afterall.
Thus the few Igbos who were part of it were at best fringe players as they didn't have the required clout to make serious demands and do the necessary political wheeling and dealing required in Politics to strike the hard bargains since politics is all about interests and numbers. They were even suspect, so much so that it was only their personal political sagacity that gave them whatever they got.
That Party went on to win the Presidential Election which in truth, most of us never believed it could or would, because of our half baked permutations and poor understanding of Nigerian politics. But it did.
Curiously we turned up at the fore front of telling this same Party how it should share it's 'spoils of war'. We became hypocritical moral champions with an over bloated sense of entitlement. Who does that, in all political reality and practicality? But we did, even while vehemently and vociferously still refusing to shift our position, style and rhethoric.
We dug in. Supported every bad thing and person against the Party, the elected President and the Administration while denying any and every good done to and for our Region.
Fast forward to where we are today. Almost four years after the 2015 misadventure, we have stayed put at 2015, refusing to move forward, refusing to shift grounds, refusing to play pragmatic politics, telling ourselves the same lies we cooked and bought in 2015 and some more.
We have started again saying "APC cannot give Presidency to Igbos in 2023", they don't want us in the National Assembly". Buhari cannot hand over to an Igbo man because Buhari hates Igbos". "APC is deceiving you", bla bla bla.
Of course. We will believe Saraki, but we can't believe Buhari who's already President and who has a record of voluntarily picking two great Igbo sons as running mates in the past? Chukwu aju.
It is interesting and vital to note here that the PDP which many of us still proudly support and adore was in power for 16 solid years and in those years there were 4 Presidential Inaugurations and on none of those was an Igbo man found worthy by the PDP of even Vice Presidency and we are still bold to say it is the APC that has barely finished one tenure that doesn't want to give power to Igbos. Odi nma.
NOW; Seriously, let's be sincere. As things stand today politically, why would the APC even hand power to us Igbos in 2023? On what grounds? On what records? On what politics? Is power given to anyone? Is it an appeasement or a gift?
The APC is a political party. The main focus of a political Party is to hold power and keep it to enable it deliver on its agenda. So if the APC reads that the SE does not want the Presidency or does not have the capacity to help them win and keep power, they will stick with the regions that can and work with individuals who are interested.
Make no mistake, I have always said, I do not blame us Igbos for the decision majority of us took in 2015. It's our right. But continuing to pretend that it was other regions, Buhari or the APC that made us do what we did then or remain where we are today is purely self deceit and I refuse to play that ostrich game.
As far back as 2014, I and many others made that argument that Igbo Presidency was very feasible in 2023, ONLY under under the APC, ONLY IF we did a couple of things right politically. I personally continued to speak loudly on that even after the 2015 elections until when I realized that we were not ready to play the politics that was required and now I dare say it may be too late. Or is it not? Time will tell.
For now, we can continue to tell ourselves that we cannot hold the Presidency of Nigeria. I heard and read many of our brethren go from PDP to Biafra/seccesion (read IPOB) to Referendum to "Igbos do not need Presidency but Restructuring" etc forgetting that all that didn't lie squarely with us alone. We think other regions are not reading our body language?
All these guys below have all come to realize that it's very easy to play us like a flute. So like Saraki, like Fani Kayode, like Fayose, like Atiku, even Jonah Jang of all people, they keep playing us.
I've learnt not to bother myself anymore. As some of us have said, it's good governance we want, even if only one village will be producing the Presidents. So be it.
Ka Chineke mezie okwu!!
See ya NL!
But Igbos dont trust APC. It is not a party most Igbos identify with. So are you suggesting that Igbos should betray their conscience and support a political party they have no belief in just because of political positions?
That would be pretty and self deceiving
If every body supported APC for political positions, it would no longer be politics.
APC will not always be in power, not political party always is. One day. APC will one day be swept away from power just like PDP and that might be in 2023 when there will be no more Buhari for the North to vote for
The presidency of Nigeria is not everything, Igbos have done well for themselves without and will continue to do well without it
hisgrace090: Chinedu Theodore orji now a speaker in abia state? The end is near.
I heard stories about this guy when his father was Governor of Abia. They called him 'Ikuku' which means "Wind" in Igbo.
For the 8 years his father was Governor this guy was the virtual master of Abia state. Even though he had no official role, he acted as if he was the Governor and not his father
Guestlander: Reason why nobody should give him a dime. If he wants to collect gate fees he should sing and dance too. Perhaps he can invite his wife too for pole dancing. People will pay to see them.
There is no issue here. If you go for an event and it turns out that they are charging to get in, turn around and go home.
Holamic: One thing i know this man is capable of is destroy the good image of igbos n generating money for himself to feed in exile. Did you knw the number of people this man has put in troubles while in exile n claiming is a saint. Crab
How is he destroying the image of Igbos? Is he doing anything illegal?
I dont see anything wrong in IPOB charging a fee for people 20 Dollars to see Kanu, assuming it actually happend. These guys probably had to hire a hall, provide refreshments and security amongst other things. Then someone who doesn't contribute anything will just walk in like that? That's not proper
20 Canadian Dollars is not even enough for one to out on a weekend
Jayslicky: Should we as a nation declare IPOB that don't kill others as a terrorist group and leave herdsmen out of the equation? Only the government can answer this.
Now you know why Nigeria is described as a 'zoo' by some
globemoney: Shut your dirty mouth. Talking about awarded on paper, like you don’t know it’s this government that release funding for these projects. Why Peter Obi was asslicking GEJ nothing was getting done in Anambra, this is the first time Anambra is getting federal attention and Obiano takes the credit whether you like it or not
My argument is that these federal projects were not attracted by Obiano. If they were awarded on paper before he came to office, it all goes to show he never attracted them
asuustrike1: The strategy adopted by Obiano is to be loyal to the government at the centre so as to attract development to his state. This is what Ben Ayade did in Cross River
In terms of the projects listed here, Obiano attracted none of them as they were ongoing projects before he came to office
NonsoWow: [s] Listen real good, Obiano attracted all these projects. Jonathan awarded the second niger bridge as a PPP. It was Obiano who pressured Buhari to cancel that contract and re-ward it with full federal funding. Enugu-Onitsha express was awarded but Anambra section from Umunya to Amansea was left out due to contractual dispute with the former contractor CCC but Obiano pressured Buhari and the Anambra section was added to the main contract that RCC already had for the Enugu state end of the road. Same with the zik mausoleum and Aguleri kogi road that connects Obiano's hometown. I hate wasting my time with detractors like you but for the sake of few you may have deceived. Obiano's cordial relationship with Buhari is reaping dividends to the annoyance of opposition.
It seems that people like you dont understand basic English. Obiano did not attract any of these projects as they were awarded before he came to office. He may have been instrumental to have them worked upon, but he did not attract them. What is hard to understand here?
It should also be noted that all these projects were awarded before Obiano came to office, so anybody saying that Obiano was the one that attracted them is lying
ANSMEDIA: Anambra is ruled by APGA. The governor of Anambra state is the leader of APGA, the same way Buhari is the leader of APC and Atiku the leader of PDP.
Obiano has continued to play his card well by using the strength of his party, no matter how small to attract major infrastructures to Anambra ahead of any state in Nigeria.
1. Onitsha 2nd Niger Bridge (cost about 120 billion) the single biggest infrastructure in Nigeria since 1999
2. Onitsha-Enugu highway (major work is ongoing now by RCC)
3. Zik's Mauseleum and Library
4. Otuocha-Kogi-Abuja highway (it will reduce travel time from Anambra-Abuja to just 4hrs.
Lemme just mention four
But all these things you mentioned are federal projects, not Anambra state government projects
Look at a video of people in diaspora celebrating the country they believe in even before it exists. Others in Nigeria shut their places of business. That is what is called patriotism
seunmsg: This is the right thing to do. INEC, PDP and APGA can then go to the tribunal to argue their case. You cannot declare someone a winner and then refuse to release his certificate of returns under any excuse. It is only the court or tribunal that can void the returns made by the returning officer.
As much as I dont like Okorocha, I have to agree with this submission
contigiency: Kanu may not be a terrorist but he should stop behaving like one. Nigerian government didn't just wake up and called him a terrorist if not for the fact that he started harrasing people on the road, blocking and delaying people along the high ways. Challenging the government of the day.
If he tries such rubbish in those places he is traveling, he will definitely be called and treated like a terrorist. But he will not do so because he is a typical Nigerian who likes to obey the rules and regulations of other countries but hate to do so when it comes to Nigeria. We help to develop other countries and appreciate them to grow. But When it comes to Nigeria, even to pay taxes we don't pay. To obey and respect public peace we hate to do so, nothing is valued by us in our country. And after doing all these, we turn back and heap all the blame on our leaders that the country is not developing. Our expectations become higher than those in their foreign countries we helped to develop.
You can imagine that Nnamdi Kanu in those countries is so civilized holding town hall meetings and once in a while his boys will hold peaceful protest holding only placards without obstructing others from going about their businesses. Just because those countries said that they don't want you to go molesting and harrasing other people while you are doing protest. They had to obey the government and do as they were told.
But in Nigeria, Nnamdi kanu and his boys will abandon town hall meetings and choose to block motor packs and federal high ways, molesting and harrasing people, obstructing them from going about their business. At the same time declaring public holidays against the wishes of the government of the country, challenging the government in every manner. And above all, humiliating and going after the lives of others who do not support or agree in their course, abuse other tribes and religions, chanting war songs and inciting people to go to war. After all, the country belongs to all of us. Tell me any sitting government that can tolerate that from anybody.
I am an Igbo man who love Igbo more than Nnamdi kanu and his boys. But to say because Nnamdi kanu is calling the name Igbo in his gangsterism, I should then loose my sense of reasoning is to say the least. The last time I checked, nobody marginalized the Igbos more than how we have marginalized ourselves. So Nnamdi kanu should be guided.
The things you say Kanu did are not terrorists activity. Blocking the road and harassing people is not terrorism, there is no country in the world that civilians dont block the road in protest. Have you ever heard that Shekau and his men went to block road? Other things you said like chanting war songs, declaring public holiday are all within the law. Anybody is allowed to sing whatever song they like and anybody can declare public holiday. If I like, I can declare public holiday for Malawi, it's for them to listen or ignore it. I dont know about IPOB molesting people, I have not seen any proven circumstance where IPOB touched anybody, only allegation, and these allegations are very few. In a year, you get less than 5. But a group like NURTW will block the road, harass and molest motorists on a daily basis but nobody talks
How can unarmed man like Kanu challenge government? With what is he challenging government with? His mouth?
Kanu did nothing wrong, it just that many Nigerians still live in the stone age
Can anyone imagine ISIS leader, Al Baghdadi, traveling to London and the USA without being arrested?
Can anyone imagine Boko haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, traveling to London and USA without being picked up by those countries?
But IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, has been to Israel, London, Germany and the USA and nobody even looked at him twice at the port of entry of those countries despite being declared a terrorist and having an arrest warrant out on him by the Nigerian authorities
It all goes to show two things, Kanu is not a terrorist and the Nigerian government was clueless to have have declared him as one
Lipscomb: There is a lots of sense in what Adeyinka grandson said about igbos people .
Adeyinka grandson says Yotubas should go for Oduduwa Republic, Kanu says Igbos should go for Biafra. Intelligence without results does not amount to much. Kanu has an organisation that is spread all over the world, he has made Biafra s national topic and got thousands out on the streets waving the Biafran flag
Adeyinka Grandson is just in London making YouTube videos and has not managed to get one single person to wave the the Oduduwa flag
nengibo: Even I from Rivers understand Nembe very well, what we Izon apu don't have is a central language like the Wazobia tribes, would an Igbo man from Izzi be able to communicate with an Abriba man in their dialects effectively without central Igbo?
If an Izzi man met an Abiriba man, without central Igbo, their communication would be very slow because both dialects are different.
That's why everyone switches to central Igbo to make life easier
