Politics / Re: It's Official: APC Names Rotimi Amaechi DG Of Presidential Campaign Organization by kinharold(m): 10:37am On Dec 19, 2014
If APC that is preaching Change is presenting Buhari; it's either they are lying about it or they just don't understand the Change Nigerians are asking for. We all are looking for Change but not a backward movement. His last outing in governance was his dictatorial reign of 1983_85. Meaning that even voters below 30 years of age or even 40 cannot connect with that regime. He has no democratic experience that the youths of today can relate with. Kwankwaso could have been a better choice.

We want Change, a change to intellectuals and youthful technocrats, a forward-movement Change but unfortunately, come 2015, GEJ is still our "best" option among the available. We now have to wait for probably another four years for change to come. I cry for us the youths.

Your brother GEJ doesn't stand a chance 2015 from all statistics he has lost votes even in his home town P.H the north cannot vote him which 50% of all votes comes from GEJ has stepped on simply too many toes he ought to have just honored the single term part and have his name written in Gold than have his foot around the murky waters of power jostle.

My dear, you are free to think and conclude that GEJ is bad or ddnt do well enough, but if you think we/Nigerians can take Buhari or Atiku as a replacement for GEJ you and your people are dreaming. Nigerians need change but not the kind Buhari and co (APC) wants to offer.

Unfortunately for you and other haters, GEJ is continuing till 2019 cos he is still the best choice among available options. No matter how bad you claim GEJ is, GMB and the current hustlers can never be considered as a better option to replace him. so GEJ till we have a better option. Let's all wait just, it's just less than 3 months.

“I heard that some of them are boasting of
money, but tell them that Rochas has come; any day you hear that PDP brought money with pick-up, tell me so that I will bring money with trailer. All these PDP leaders in South-East, if you put their money together, it is not equal to half of my money.”

See the kind of man governin a state! Nigeria is in trouble!

...."In 2015, I will be the president of Nigeria, I have gone to Kaduna, I have gone to Lagos, I am in Enugu today, they are already afraid; they are now calling for dialogue. If they are discussing those contesting for presidency on the platform of APC, Owelle will be the first, Buhari and then Kwakwanso; they said it was zoned to the North, I told our party, when did the meeting take place? I also met with my brother Ngige and we zoned it to Ndigbo..."

grin this statement is very pregnant abeg grin Owelle please explain

The problem with this man and his neighbour down south is their rough and unguided tongue. I wonder what even his own party leaders will think about this statement, particularly the second part.
Politics / The Deplorable State of Aba (Enyimba City) by kinharold(m): 11:05pm On Oct 03, 2014
My stay in Aba for a Period of 9 days is indeed a mixture of sweet and sour. Visiting/meeting my family, friends and pals was the peak of the sweetness while the rest of the days was a nightmare. Governance in Abia state( the commercial nerve center, the Enyimba City) is absolutely non-existent. It is terribly worse than before. The broadcasting corporation of Abia State(BCA) made matters worse by daily reeling out the administrations outstanding performances to my utmost dismay. Thanks to the MAGIC FM (Aba privately owed station for coming to the rescue).

I rarely criticize governors because leadership position comes with enormous challenges but i have to voice out my frustration. Though i grew up in ABA, but hails from IMO STATE. At least i knew the state of Governance in ABIA STATE since 1999. Needless to point out that i am not a FAN of GOV THEODOR ORJI (OCHENDO GLOBAL), neither is he my enemy but he's my Governor in Abia State. The Truth must be told and here are the hard facts.

1- How was it possible that there is no MOTOR-ABLE ROADS in Aba.

2- Whats the use of collecting Six thousand Naira(N6,000) from all the buildings, shops, and markets in Aba in the name of INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENTAL LEVY? Where are the developments?

3- The dramatic Silence from the Traditional Rulers (NDI-EZE) in Ngwa Land alongside the Youths kept me pondering for answers.

4- Abia State House of Assembly seems to be in comatose or non-existence. If not why are the Silence?

5- Where can one locate a Health centre in ABA.

6- Whats the delaying the conduct of the Local Government Election in Abia State. At least if done, they will focus on the grassroots development.

7- Whats GOV T.A. ORJIS role in attending the South South PDP Zonal rally. Is he not a Governor of PDP from the South East.?He was the only South East Governor in attendance.

8- The National Award of Commander of the Federal Republic(CFR) and other Newspaper awards given to GOV T. A ORJI (OCHENDO GLOBAL) was based on what criteria?.

9- BCA Keep saying he liberated Abia state from Orji Uzo kalu"s Family but ABA is yet to be LIBERATED.

10- Why make mockery of Non-Indegines by sacking them, only to recall them over the radio but haven't recalled them in reality. I guess your planning for 2015.

11- Is Abia State different from EBONYI, ENUGU, IMO AND ANAMBRA STATES in terms of federal monthly allocations.?

12- If Aba residents booed and threw Pure-water at you at a public function with the president in attendance, have you bothered to know why?

13- The last Sanitation exercise was a mess. the refuse dumps along the roads alone, the entire Aba cannot clear it in a month.

14- Is ASEPA( Abia state environmental protection Agency) DEAD.

15- Even the church have all gone silent.

16- Gov T.A Orji from one of the BCA gingles is campaigning for the senate.

17- Has the Governor bothered to know about his administrations performance?.

18- Unfortunately, those angling to succeed him are applauding his non-existent achievements.Just to get his support.

20- IS ABA NOT PART OF ABIA STATE ANYMORE. whats really happening? people are suffering.

God please liberate Abia state. The True GODS OWN STATE.

Phones / Re: Why Buying An Andriod Tablet Or An Ipad Is Just A Waste Of Money! by kinharold(m): 11:44am On Oct 03, 2014
MrKodak: I 've read very funny comments here. People claiming they bought a tablet & suddenly discovered how useless it was 're just plain silly. Before u buy a product in this jet age, there is something called 'specification'. You check it to be sure it meets 'ur requirements. Moreover, which right thinking being would go trying to replace a phone with a tablet? The people creating these products know people to be different that is why there 're phones with keypads, touch screen phones, tablets, netbooks, laptops & hybrids to choose from. What may be useless to you might be important to another. Slating people for choosing products different from 'urs is just stupid. I know of a certain tablet called 'lenovo yoga', the battery life is insane(18hrs), it has a detachable keyboard & does basic WORD, ACCESS & EXCEL editing. Plus it costs just about 60k on konga. I will choose that tablet anyday over most laptops because I am not a programmer & that tablet meets my needs. I don't however go about telling people with laptops they made a wrong choice because I don't know what they use it for.

Guy, you try. Well done.

Anybody buying anything including a Tablet PC without first knowing the need/use is not normal. Anybody buying a Tablet PC to replace a phone is grossly ignorant. and sorry to say, from the first and second paragraph, one can say that the OP belongs somewhere in the above categories. A Tablet is a different device from a phone or a Laptop.

A smart, 21st century professional of today will need: A smart phone in the pocket; A Tablet PC in the Briefcase and a Laptop on the Table. And each for different purposes. NEVER BUY A TABLET JUST FOR PHONE CALLS (Disgusting)

A few Uses of Tablet:
1. Public Speaking: Seminars, Preaching, Teaching etc. I speak at Youth Leadership Summits and my 9.7" Tablet is my greatest asset. A public speaker/preacher just holds it up and walks about conveniently on stage. U have a great deal of resources right there, that you can easily access even on stage.

2. Convenient Mobility: Conveniently make a video, document or picture presentation to your client just about anywhere, even unexpectedly. As a marketer, contractor or something, you just unexpectedly meets a prospect and you've got to show stuff, your Tablet is it. Prepare your work with your laptop and save on a Tablet to carry about.

3. From age 35 sight dims for most persons, they can't easily see/read very small letters eg Bible verses and other office or research materials. Tablet is it, especially as it is more handy and mobile than Lappy.

4. How about taking good pix, playing games and recording and watching video on the big screen right there out there.

With this few points of mine, I believe I have convinced the panel of Judges, my co-debaters and the audience that having a Tablet PC is different from having a Phone or a Laptop. Thank you.

Health / EBOLA: US To Send 3000 Military Personell To West Africa To Fight Ebola by kinharold(m): 10:11pm On Sep 16, 2014
Well, there wasn't much details on why Military, but I thought one would have expected Medical not Military personnel

The Obama administration is ramping up its response to West Africa's Ebola crisis, preparing to assign 3,000 U.S. military personnel to the afflicted region to supply medical and logistical support to overwhelmed local health care systems and to boost the number of beds needed to isolate and treat victims of the epidemic.

President Barack Obama planned to announce the stepped up effort Tuesday during a visit to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta amid alarm that the outbreak could spread and that the deadly virus could mutate into a more easily transmitted disease.

The new U.S. muscle comes after appeals from the region and from aid organizations for a heightened U.S. role in combatting the outbreak blamed for more than 2,200 deaths.

Administration officials said Monday that the new initiatives aim to:

- Train as many as 500 health care workers a week.
- Erect 17 heath care facilities in the region of 100 beds each.
- Set up a joint command headquartered in Monrovia, Liberia, to coordinate between U.S. and international relief efforts.
- Provide home health care kits to hundreds of thousands of households, including 50,000 that the U.S. Agency for International Development will deliver to Liberia this week.
- Carry out a home- and community-based campaign to train local populations on how to handle exposed patients.

We all read or hear about the several billions being released by especially the Federal Govt for the funding and development of SMSs. The YouWin project is kind of understandable, as it is a kind of contest or qualified for. But the several others, how can one access and benefit from such funds and efforts.

Despite having an impressive banking/business transaction (cash-flow) records (for the level, anyway) for an innovative and aspiring Entrepreneur, one cant get any encouraging response from most banks when trying to access funds.

Help please.

Also, please, I need information (urgently) on how to Patent a brand name and logo for some products we are about introducing into the market.

This is why I have always canvassed for all roads construction and maintenance be exclusive responsibility of state govts. Every road is in one state or the other. FG does not have exclusive geographical territory like states. No matter how long a road is ie interstate roads, every state should exclusively construct and maintain their own section of the road just like Ameachi has done on that road.
Events / Re: 7 Common Wedding Traditions And Their Origins by kinharold(m): 8:34am On Sep 04, 2014
koyyes: Tradition demands that both men and women must remain virgins before they gey married. any man that eventually sleeps with a girl(whether or not she gets pregnant)must marry the girl or face the laws of the land. Before seeing the girl's parents,he must fufill the requirement that qualifies him to own a wife that he would be taking care of for the rest of his life. Now my question goes to the so called traditionalists here- How many of you are virgins? How many of you intend marrying the girl you are currently sleeping with? Do you have what it takes to take good care of who you are sleeping with? Obviously,Most of you do not practise what you preach so how different are you from a westernized african. Traditionalists my a*#!

Guy, which particular tradition/culture are you referring to? or dd you forget that different culture/ethnic group have different tradition. Most cultures and traditions are not against sex before marriage. But like in most part of Igbo tradition, you dont marry a bride that is (obviously) pregnant, you must wait for her to deliver.

What pains me most is that
*It is not even in the Bible.

* Let me add; very expensive.

Are we sure there was really an escape. My dear, the whole thing baffles me.

*How can more than 50 girls escape in-mass from the boko-haram we hear about and arrived safely in-mass together.

*We hear that their camp is so deep in the thick forest that our military could not reach it, yet these girls just "strolled" out from there like they were in a backyard garden.

* We mean girls as mature as waec students could not recur and give a good account of their journey route.

these and more questions begging for clarity.

Business / Tony Elumelu Appointed Chairman Of UBA Group by kinharold(m): 8:30pm On Aug 25, 2014
VENTURES AFRICA – The Board of United Bank for Africa Plc (UBA) yesterday announced the appointment of Tony Elumelu, as Chairman, succeeding Ambassador Joe Keshi.

Mr Elumelu is Chairman and CEO of Heirs Holdings, the pan-African proprietary investment company which he founded in 2010 and which holds stakes in a number of leading African businesses, including Nigeria’s largest conglomerate by market capitalisation, Transcorp, and UBA.

Elumelu retired as Group Managing Director and CEO of UBA in 2010, following the introduction by the Central Bank of Nigeria of 10 year tenure limits for bank CEOs. He had served as CEO of the UBA Group for 13 years, where he was responsible for the creation of today’s UBA – a financial services institution that built a reputation for innovation and the democratisation of banking services and now spans Africa, providing services to more than 10 million customers across the continent and in London, Paris and New York.

Widely regarded as one of the leading business figures in Africa, Elumelu has developed a reputation for identifying value and bringing a long term investment orientation and discipline to sectors critical to Africa’s development, including financial services, power, oil and gas, agribusiness, real estate and hospitality. As the founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, an Africa-based and African-funded philanthropic institution, Mr Elumelu is committed to the promotion of entrepreneurship in Africa, based on his championing of Africapitalism, the philosophy that the African private sector is the critical enabler of the continent’s economic and social transformation.

The Chairmanship of UBA will complement Mr Elumelu’s existing positions with other Heirs Holdings’ portfolio businesses, including the Chairmanship of Transcorp, Nigeria’s largest listed conglomerate by market capitalisation.

“Tony Elumelu’s track record at UBA speaks for itself. His return to the Board brings a depth of knowledge and experience of the African financial services industry that is second to none. We are privileged to have him lead the Board at this critical stage in our development,” said Mr. Phillips Oduoza, Group Managing Director/CEO UBA.

With operations in 19 African countries and a presence in New York, London and Paris, UBA is one of the largest financial services institutions in Africa. The Bank recently unveiled its Project Alpha, a 3-year road map of key transformation initiatives, designed to consolidate the Group’s strategic positioning and fully exploit the opportunities provided by Africa’s economic renaissance and the UBA Group’s unique platform.

“I am very much looking forward to returning to the Group – UBA represents a tremendous investment opportunity, and is at an inflection point in its growth path. We have an extremely powerful executive team and I am looking forward to bringing my experience and energy to guide UBA’s long term strategy. Financial services remain one of the key drivers of African growth, both in terms of social inclusion and regional integration, and the UBA Group provides a unique platform to deliver both extraordinary value and drive Africa’s economic success.’’

‘’I would also like to thank my predecessor, Ambassador Keshi and the entire board for their contributions to the growth and development of the bank” said Mr Elumelu.
