@ AIsha there are leaders and there are followers. We need to adopt an attitude of seizing our future along with prayers. I totally agree with you. The problem with Africa is the backwards mentality that some young people exhibit

@toyota or tokotatya and the other mumu kodewrita; Mumus like you guy are the reason naija is still in this state. YOu dont question authority you suffer in silence while all your human rights are being violated and you dont have enough balls to disagree with some pastor says something backwards. He is a mere pastor and not God why dont you just worship him? If someone thinks what he says is 'silly' that's just simply what it is. All these so called yeye elders and so called leaders have led the country into the gutter and the young people should have their own vision and not follow like mumu.
welcome to the discussion bro.
the crux of your argument==>we are the problem not the people stealing the money.
besides being late to the discussion, you are also too lazy to read through to find any retractions or clarifications. its lazy thinkers like you that are actually dragging us back (thats why you cant come up with a moniker more imaginative than alphabet43).

Me thinks this uprising wont be as successful in Libya as it has been in Tunisia and Egypt. Strong man Ghadaffi has a strong hold on his people and how the exact strings to pull. lets watch out & see how this will play out. . .
lets wait and see. I thought mubarak was unassailable until he fell. Ultimately, if bahrain and yemen fall, then the pressure on other arab states will be too much. the best bet of all the tyrants now is to band together and prop each other up. acting singly like Ben Ali or Mubarak gets you canned.

They can also do their best to tackle Qatar (who are actually the key catalysts now with their sponsorship of Al jazeera. see why you should never underestimate small countries).
Foreign AffairsRe: Protest Begins In Libya by kodewrita(m): 5:20pm On Feb 16, 2011
@aisha2, I am feeling like a proud father. the argument is really catching fire.

@jesoul. protests alone never do the work, it must be backed by proper planning. check youtube for a serbian resistance group called OPFOR. their playbook was what the tunisians used and then the egyptians followed. Infact some of the key organisers in egypt travelled to Serbia to meet the OPFOR team. what they advocate is definitely non-violent but its more than just placard-carrying. its more than just stopping traffic in lagos and abuja. its a whole lot more. watch that and get back to me.
ProgrammingRe: What Is Your Favourite Php Framework by kodewrita(m): 4:49pm On Feb 16, 2011
Codeigniter. Started with PEAR but got tired of its issues. Zend seemed too "establishment" for me. RoR got me thinking of CakePHP (but got tired of code-generating sphagetti code that I would still have to walk through and edit) but I settled for the le petit feu (codeigniter).

I love the idea that I can do so much with so little.

@kodewriter - (i wonder the kind of codes you write with such an empty brain!)Its silly, idiotic and brainless morons like you that fail to see people like GO Adeboye, chris Oyaks and rest of them wolves in sheep clothing as the real enemies of the people!. Morons like you fail to notice they are agents the government use to keep the people docile while they violation our wealth and share it with them demonic pastors!

The protest is coming to Nigeria real soon and as your bible rightly predicted, judgment will start from the house of god!

@Aisha! don't get discouraged by any of those morons, keep saying it as you see it.
The real enemies of the people drive to work in the morning, sleep for hours, wake up and send communiques. they live in abuja and we call them senators and politicians.

If adeboye and the rest are benefiting from the largesse of corruption, thats between them and God. I am non-denominational and do not appreciate such hero-worship.

You are simply making the obviously defeated marxist argument of religion being opium of the people when in fact religion has been the only true bulwark that has held back so many tyrants in history. How else do we derive our morality?

Coding on the other hand has to do with seeing what's really important and not whats on the surface. On the surface, you may see them as the problem when in actual fact they are not. I would expect with a name like Great-Eros or Great-Errors, you cant be expected to display any form of abstract thinking beyond basic survival thoughts.

@aisha2 It is my personal belief that we Nigerians waste time using tools we see in the outer world automatically expecting it to work here. If we will bring down any tyrants or other people we have to be way more crafty than just carrying placards. that doesnt work. I agree we must have played a role SOMEHOW. but that was not the whole picture.

The real decision even in egypt were the ARMY not the people. The real decision makers in tunisia were the RULING PARTY. the sole purpose of any such uprising is to get the attention of the REAL decision makers and convince them to take charge and get things done right. Any other protest that ignores such people is at best just an expression of misguided youthful exuberance.
Foreign AffairsRe: Protest Begins In Libya by kodewrita(m): 4:15pm On Feb 16, 2011
OK. I take back the monkey, fanatic and other offensive comments, but that still doesnt change the fact that you cant unseat anyone in this country by protests.

GEJ got in NOT because of your protests BUT because of fancy maneuvering by himself and cohorts.

As for Save Nigeria Group breaking the hold of Turai, it was bound to happen irrespective of whether she tried to hold on. She failed because the power elite did not support it, not because you carried paper umbrellas and amused yourself in abuja.

Try it here in Nigeria and then we will believe you.

unseat your LG Chairman with placards or recall JUST ONE senator with popular protest and then we can agree.
ProgrammingRe: How Does A Rookie Java/j2ee Programmer Get A Job? by kodewrita(m): 4:06pm On Feb 16, 2011
write small projects that you can show. just small programs/apps to test different areas and then work on polishing them

a small exquisitely designed and coded simple calculator with menus , help files , splash screens will teach you more about coding than hours of reading blogs.

But G. O Pastor Adeboye said protests do not work. Imagine this statement, this is the dumbest statement in the world
"PRAYERS CAN MOVE MOUNTAINS. PROTESTING OUTSIDE THE GOVT HOUSE, HOW MUCH HAS IT ACHIEVED? YOU GO THERE, YOU CARRY PLACARDS[SMILES] AND IF YOU ARE FORTUNATE, YOU RETURN HOME ALIVE, IF YOU ARE NOT FORTUNATE, SOME OVERZEALOUS POLICE OFFICERS MIGHT ACCIDENTALLY DISCHARGE SOME BULLETS ON YOU, AND AFTER, YOU CAN PROTEST A DAY AFTER, AND AFTER SOMETIME, YOU GET TIRED" DADDY G.O/ADEBOYE CNN INTERVIEW
You big monkey, he was referring to the nigerian context. do you think protests have ever achieved anything in this country? even the mammoth june 12 1993 protests went nowhere.

In you rush to be bigoted and fanatic, you ignored that. next time, pay more attention to the context and not just the message.

try unseating your local government chairman with a protest and see whether adeboye was wrong.

ProgrammingRe: Web Applications Are Not The Way Out by kodewrita(m): 9:42am On Feb 14, 2011
Depends on who's paying the bills.

SAP is still web-based and millions are still paid to access it.
Basecamp is a milliondollar app and is web-based.
peoplesoft applications are web-based and is also a million dollar app.
finacle (used by many nigerian banks) is web-based and also million-dollar app.
Jira atlassian,
Microsoft sharepoint(web based and used by any company worth its salt)

wake and smell the flowers people. If you are not skilled enough to architect a proper web application say so.

Just say you are content with writing applications for clinics and schools and not interested in going after the real big spenders in IT worldwide (the banks, energy, telecoms and transport companies). Can you actually imagine an airline installing applications all over the place instead of running a centralized website? makes little sense(no offense intended. sorry).

Besides a company like firstbank will not be complaining about NEPA will they? do you complain about NEPA when booking your Arik flight? no. you find a cafe with gen and book. so thats not even an argument.

In this case, the figures speak clearly too not emotions. Change your target customers and stop worrying about figures.

I am just wondering what SA navy would do if the ECOWAS decides to hard on Gbabo militarly. Remember, SA has tgaken a nuetral stance in the whole saga. But ppl know that SA doesnt want Gbabo out, there is intense intelligence that Outtara is a front for the US, France, and Britain. SA, as the most influential country will never allow that to happen. Remember also, that SA is the only African country that can go against all the big powers in any fora unapologetictly so.
That is such a dumb opinion. Libya, Nigeria, Egypt, Angola, Ethiopia to count a few can stand their ground anyday. the south africans are just eager to gain recognition on the world stage. They have seen Nigeria striding all over the continent as "Giant of Africa" and they want a piece of that pie (if not the whole cake). Its all about power and not about protecting africa.

They want to be THE AFRICAN POWER but always come up against the population question. Its hard to push aside a country 3 times your size, growing and less HIV-ridden (even though your citizens and president are taking showers to cure that).

Lets see whether they will interrupt if ECOMOG 2.0 is called into action

let him do it himself if he's so intelligent. No serious minded businessman wants to go through an agent who personally has nothing to offer. if your brother posts here himself and in better english with a sensible product, then we can talk.

There's nothing he has invented that is so spectacular that it has to be hidden, if he has anything worth selling, we would have heard about it or it would have at least been hinted at.

I would propose a new version of the closed ballot: let all aspirants go into a room with boxing gloves. whoever survives goes to Aso rock.

but seriously:

It might work, it might not work. But I still prefer a political party system that also allows independent candidature.

WebmastersRe: Does Php Has A Similar Function? by kodewrita(m): 4:35pm On Feb 05, 2011
Your server might not have a cron feature so let me teach you a trick.

it goes like this.

create an image like this
<img src="put a link to the script you want to run" width="1" height="1" style="display:none;"> and place it on the home page or on any regularly viewed page.

once the user opens the page, the image link will be requested by the browser, what will happen at the other end is that your script will be activated. all you now have to do is time() and check whether its the appropriate time for what you want to do.

if it is your script does what it needs to do and exits silently. you dont have to worry about the page, it will timeout the request once your script exits and a 1-pixel wide image is not going to affect your page at all.

preferably put it in the footer.

I am using that trick in a project I am working on. works everytime.

thats not a reason to punish the guy.

its not an either-or decision. Its not a Forex Or Marriage Decision.

Stop characterizing it as such.

Let him overcome his jealousy.

Anyway, the solution is still more communication. you must talk to him. silence on the issue will cause more problems than it will solve.

If its not forex it will be something else. probably he's been hearing stories of infidelity through the net.

unless you have given him any reason over the 10-year period to distrust you, I feel you need to find out why the unusual infantile behavior is cropping up.
