Try checking the engine seats. And when on idle or in traffic, disengage the gear and put it on Neutral.

Bros reading this comment, makes Me feel emotional.

I used to be one of the best drivers that delivers on time (I delivers on mondays)

This is week 7 that’s I haven’t make any delivery for my partner simply because the work isn’t worth it anymore.

Am on HP, have paid total of 1.2 out of 3.2 (03 Corolla) up till this moment I’m feeling bad because I couldn’t meet up. I’m owning my mechanic almost 13k, passenger hub is making hell noise currently, crank shaft and engine needs ringing raising the funds already.

Last I did in a week is just 27k. If I deduct fuel and other stuff commission and all I’ll be left with zero.

I pity “we” drivers repairing our cars by ourselves is not an easy thing I swear. You’ve got to accept every trips and you can’t be so selective with trips because there’s competition and you might not get another trip in 3hours.

I’ can’t make an account of how much have borrowed from my wife’s salary to fix one or two thing from the car. Well life is all about win and loses.

Have been able to submit my cv’s which that’s not sure but anything I get there, I’ll manage.

Why am I lamenting? I want advice from my brothers out here. My decision is to drop this car make I find something else doing before my long lasting relationship with my partner will become something Very bad.

Because I don’t think I can Deliver over 30k+ he requires for remittance anytime sooner.

Oruko rere sanju Wura looo

I’ve tried my best after the easing of lockdown, have paid lastma, try cabu, did Uber/inDriver but yet I can’t gross 30k.

Please brothers I need mature advice

Thanks
I read this over and over again and I concluded that you not looking for advice, but pity. I have already advised you on how to modify your work and get something tangible with your working hours and you still unable to gross 30k in a week?! Even a new inexperienced driver (Eyinola, sorry boss) that doesn’t put in much hours grosses 30K Weekly. Do not blame corona or anything else.

1. You took a car for 3.2 million naira on hire purchase knowing fully well that it would take over 2 years to fully pay for the car. Now I ask, what would the car be like if you finish paying for it? The roads wey you wan drive the car no fear you?

2. You have paid 1.2 million out of the 3.2 and now thinking of getting another hustle, so in other words, you want to count your loss and move on right? It’s good, at least you have experience now and would never go into such contract again.

3. You want to ring the car? I’m assuming the car was bought Tokunbo hence the high amount for the contract. I’m very sure the elders in the house have been hammering about synthetic oil use over a year ago but you went the ‘penny wise pound foolish’ route. Note that you would have to do an engine replacement because that engine don go (I’m also in this boat). My take on the ringing is to hold it off and keep managing because you will cry foul again when you ring it and it still shorts oil.

4. Your wife is a great woman for sacrificing her earnings for you. Treat her with care.

5. Yes it’s not easy on HP drivers because of the Car maintenance and that is why you have to be wise like a serpent. You have more than 2 apps at your disposal, you can’t tell me because of fear of 3 hours wait time you’d take your car and go drifting in Mushin. Select your trips judiciously and always target long trips. Do not be desperate. Just be calm and calculative. There was a time I filtered at least 7 trips (short distance and bad road) until I got a long ride with sweet road. I always try to equate driving hours to earnings.

Anyways, I think you lying about grossing 30k for a full working week. The way things are now your best two options are:

1. Appeal to your partner based on relationship to sell the car outright to you for say like 2 million so you just top 800k. You guys can work out the payment schedule because even if you drop the car for him/her, it’s going to be repairs upon repairs for the partner which is tantamount to more loss on both side. The outright sale is to minimize loss for both parties and still keep the relationship strong.

2. If your partner does not want to help you out, drop it, count your loss and jump on RENTALS where the burden of repairs and maintenance is off you.

Good luck in any decision you make bro. May the gods favor you.

My thought exactly. They even offer to fuel your car the only thing is they're in total control of your account therefore more card trips so that you dont have means to make excuse to remittances.

The only thing is doing off line trips as they may lock you car engine remotely if you've not work up to their weekly rental.

And drivers may not be able to travel outta state for off trip job.

One thing I'm confident on is that they would make uber bend the car requirements so that their cars would have more leverage to operate on the platform.

Because 2000 car and 2016 car no be mate my guy make we leave sentiment.

Forget bad roads, these are brand new cars and they'll select drivers base on their rating, numbers of trips completed and that new drivers thing uber came up with few month ago (gold, bronze, platinum...)that I'm very sure of.

So this guys are up to something.

My advise to investors is this, stop buying cars for uber if you must buy get a 2014 car upward bros very soon the old cars would be thrown outta the system naturally.
Bro your head correct for this one. One thing is certain though, If they come full throttle, riders would abandon the 2003 cars on bolt. In fact they would delete the bolt app and use only uber. Who no wan ride in comfort fa

Anybody that takes this offer will be a slave forever.

2016 corrolla for trips of #800, #1,200- #1,500. Tops #5,800 -#6,000somtyms if you are lucky

This model can't work in Lagos.

How can you use corrolla 2016 for taxi in Lagos. Very absurd. Where are the riders that can pay for such luxury?

Thing I have with guys that draw up business plans. A lot of them just holed up in their offices quoting figures. No street orientation.

How can you bring a biz plan for an advanced country to implement in a developing country like Nigeria. .

No tweaking whatsoever!

Where are the roads?
If and when they decide to swing with it, it would/could be to the advantage of drivers at the detriment of bolt or any ride-sharing app as they (moove and drivers) would be exclusive to uber. Riders would abandon our old cars and want to enter fresh grin 2016 car.

There would be more customers on uber hence more trips. It’s a rental model with all maintenance taken care of by them plus some other things.

Think of it as a strategy for Uber to reclaim market share. Me for one would collect the fresh car o. Imagine spending zero naira lol all you just have to do is drive and have sense.

They have money to spend. Let’s help MOOVE lagos biko.

2. Avoid mile 2(I don't even go there no matter what), festac, Ago, surulere (aguda & so on), traffic & water in these areas are like 5 & 6.

3. Avoid ketu, mile 12 on ikorodu road.

4. Be wary of ogba. Latter rain axis

5. Be wary of agege, abule egba interiors(its either traffic or flood due to bad roads 5&6)

There’s nothing in it for drivers as you will in turn collect their petrol money i.e if you want to collect 40-45k weekly.

Whenever I look at people uploading earnings and show whatever they make I’ll just keep it cool. Because most of them don’t know the implications of what they’re doing.

Well I’ll tell una wey Dey upload earnings that you’ve coursed me big mess and am dealing with it personally.

Did you people know that there are drivers that mainly work at night? NO I don’t think you know but yes I’m the kind of driver that works mainly on the island at night.

Back then how I used to do my hustle before lockdown, I’ll manage to set trip using UBER to the island, on Monday morning. I will try as much as possible to reach 15-17 trips on Monday alone using UBER with my 12 hours driving time. (Yes is possible short trips were much on admiralty way)

I’ll exhaust my timing on UBER then proceed to bolt and hustle (I’m using bolt money for fueling and likely to have cash) I’ll close by 12-1am. I’m definitely sleeping on the island in the car.

Tuesday morning, I’ll wake by 4.30am to 5am clean up and brush change my wears (I used to pack my well dry cleaned clothes in the trunk) so Avoid looking down or anything from riders. Car been checked and I’ll try as much as possible to avoid trips to airport cos it’ll dull my day.

I’ll set my destination back to like Ajah or Sangotedo. I’m likely to get cos olosho will leave early in the morning to their various houses. From their I’ll be with my UBer 20 trips and 3% before 12pm. I’ll never rest I’ll be cashing till I get mainland trip back to where I reside.

I’ll use Wednesday to rest pack my cloth head out on the island on Wednesday night and hustle till day break (you that hustle in the morning likely to face traffic and the time you’re sleeping, I’m 100% cashing out) I know most drivers used to do like this except all the babas in the platform that their body can’t take it anymore.

I used to this hustle which I called “make little in the day and rest to enjoy the nights” Uber credit me almost every week with nothing less down above 25k since they started their 3% commission unless if you don’t wish to work.

I have sincerely never used Taxify for 2days before in my entire time of being hustle on ehailings.

My brothers the reason for my long epistle that affected me badly:-

1. I’ll have to hustle and wait during the day many hours without getting request

2. You most likely to accept all trips that comes in to avoid been deactivated

3. Your cars wear out quickly and nothing to show for it

4. There’s disadvantages of curfew timing

5. No night hustle anymore

I’m on HP I’ll have to repair the car myself (mind you, since the beginning of easing the lockdown have never remit my agreed weekly remittances because I’ve not been meeting up) my mind as being on it but the situations is unbearable. We hustling back then on smooth road like Lekki Ajah axis, we don’t know what god has done for our cars.

Now I know the real deal is just like Village people don start my matter put for table “have changed shocks, all sand protectors, panel work on silencer, danfo don commot side mirror, 2 tyres, and leakage”

I’m yet to change brake disk, hub, engine seats, my engine as started leaking can’t even detect where it’s happens but the damages is due to the bad road (abaranje) omo the work isn’t the same but then my Best boss don increase the weekly remittances.

Even the previous one I was unable to even remit because the whole work nowadays just be like magic I don’t understand.

Taxiscam will show you big figures but when you check your bank account and cash you have at hand, you’ll be confused like how, why, and where money goes you’ll even be suspecting wether rider steal you money.

Uber system is just the best they show you figures of exactly what you make.

So to you sharing figures up and down because it’s work for you continue oh. Just know you have brothers, sisters and families here you’re letting them be jobless.

We y’all know it’s isn’t easy for the car owners but then it’s isn’t our fault too oh.

When it was good times we delivered but this hard times especially we that had to repair any cost and maintenance of the vehicle and still remitting. Pls make una try and reason sometimes say before una drop that figures, you’re about collecting job from someone.

Stay safe
Bro I feel for you, I really do. The work is really unpredictable now but with grace and sharp skills you can still make some money. The scope I use is that I target long trips. I try as much as possible to get at least 2 long rides daily. I position myself to get the rides (ogunvic and romeo comes to mind those guys screenshots dey burst my head that year. It really motivated me) I decline short rides especially to bad areas.

No one is trying to remove food from your table. I share my screenshot for motivation and to let drivers know that there’s money out there. I try to average 10 hrs online and use at least 1300 per hour as a benchmark.

Let me help you a bit. Please follow this guide.

1. Set out as early as 6 (rush hour)

2. Select a long distance trip i.e island if you stay on the mainland and vice versa.

3. When you get to the island, try to do like 2 hours of trips around there and set destination back to the mainland. When you get to the mainland, continue doing your work, by this time you would have made at least 10k and the time would be like 2pm or so.

4. Try to get back to the island or VI atleast but if you no see, just continue working on the mainland and please select trips o. I no know why you go carry your car go abaranje.

5. Do not accept rides to places with bad roads especially if it’s a short ride except you’re headed home and it’s on your way. If it’s a long ride please jump on it or just use discretion. When you get to those bad roads, drive as slow as you can ignoring the ‘oga move faster now’ yarns.

6. Pray to your maker or whatever you serve to bless your day. Of course everyday won’t be sweet but if you can get just 3 sweet days out of 7 bro you good.

7. Lastly, try to adapt to change bro. Be independent like you are. Uber is not doing it, switch to bolt and get used to the system. There’s more money on bolt than uber. I have never slept overnight in my car and I still do fairly ok.

Hotspots are yaba, surulere, lagos island, ikeja, agungi, orchid hotel road, ajah, badore, phase 1, mushin( but please avoid this place because of the road. Very terrible) egbeda, abule egba, ipaja, ojodu, anthony, mende. Them plenty bro.

PS. If you’ve never defaulted on weekly remittance pre-covid era and your partner is giving you a hard time now, he/she is a bad person.

OK guys. This goes to all sharing dashboard here. Except when really needed to prove anything, it is childish and also to the detriment of some drivers.
I had a chat with a pilot yesterday who told me that his car owner saw the earnings of the guy who said he made a lot recently. On seeing this, the owner asked the driver to revert to 25k per week. We all know remitting such amount is not that feasible for now. Trips are not predictable unlike before. The driver had to drop the car.

Now he s looking for a car again.

So many people come here to read this thread without even dropping comments. Let's mind what we post here. Thanks.
I understand what you’re saying but put yourself in an investor’s shoes. They need to recoup their investment and yes business has picked up.

Someone complained of getting trips back to back and declining some. Car owners (investors) have really tried bro, hardly any return on their investments for the past 3 months now. Haba! Na paper them take buy the car ni.

Any driver that can’t deliver 20-25k now is not a serious person and does not deserve to be in possession of that car. How long do drivers want to keep short changing car owners eh?

I’m talking about bolt only o.

I don't support manipulation or any illegal sharp practice by drivers ...infact I hate it.

But, if u are on the trip with the said driver u probably should question him, If u suspect he is intentional taking longer route, except u are not familiar with the route.

I always advice rider that when going on a longer route or a route you are not familiar with, just put your destination on Gmap as well and suggest your preferred route.

Finally, during raining season like this it's reasonable to avoid some bad roads even if that is the short cut to your destination, the trip will end you will pay and continue on your sojourn the driver might end up spending X4 in fixing his car, especially in this current season.
They don’t drive the distance, they use an app that messes up with the gps hence the zigzag.

I faced it sometime last month at OSAPA LONDON and Lekki around Fola Osibo... My car was practically floating in that Osapa. That place na rubbish for rainy season abeg. I had to remove the seats and the rug the next day. It was not a funny experience.

Meanwhile, how do you guys deal with riders when you don't have change? I try as much as possible to have change with me but sometimes it just happens and you have no change.

CC: pope191, Felicity0001 northbird et al.
Guys stop driving when there’s heavy downpour. Forget about surge or what not. Most times it’s not worth the risk/health of your car.

On the issue of change for riders, if it’s 100 or 200, I usually tell the stubborn ones to have it, otherwise most of them don’t even mind freeing it. On the flip side, I go to some of these provision shops that sell wholesale, buy something I need and plead with them for a change of 3k or so. It works 95% of the time.

There's an Uber driver who hit someone around Marwa lastnight. According to him, the person is crossing and he couldn't see him but he knock him down.

Both him and the corpse are currently in Lagos Island hospital. I couldn't upload the voice note here but the driver is in custody.

It's sad that we don't have working system in our country imagine all those crazy fellow crossing under covered pedestrian bridge from Phase 1 to Ajah they don't use pedestrian. And also, from Custain to Maryland down to Ketu, they never use Pedestrian bridge.

I'm feeling for the young guy now Police go use am chop.

Well nobody can be too careful but God will continue to protect us and our family. May God help the uber guy in any condition he's currently in.

#stay safe
Egungun don finally enter express. God grant the family of the deceased the strength to bear the loss.

Total concentration is needed when driving guys even though we can’t tell what actually happened.

I pray for continuous protection from above for all.
