Politics › Re: FG Signs Pact To Build $1 Billion Power Plant In Akwa Ibom by komodapson(m): 11:18pm On Oct 28, 2017 |
Obi1kenobi: This is interesting considering the $1.1 billion bill for 540 MW. Gas-powered plants are one of the cheapest to build (considerably cheaper than coal plants) and the median costs for most gas plants in developing countries is about $1000 per KW. So you'd expect a bill of between $500m to $600m for this particular plant. But in this country where every infrastructural project seems to be absurdly inflated, it's no surprise it's costing double that. And it's apparently one of the cheapest.
You look at the cost of the Ikoyi link bridge or Kwankwaso's Kano flyover, or the projected costs for the 2nd Niger Bridge, or the projected costs for the interstate rail projects per km (or even Lagos' rail project and Amaechi and Duke's monorails) compared to similar projects in countries like Tanzania, Ethiopia etc and something is terribly wrong with the process in awarding these contracts. So many rotten scumbags feeding fat off the country. so bros are we going to be looking at our coal fields, lying in dormant? honestly I'm not absolutely in support of the Paris agreement... trump reneged on the pact and he has returned Philadelphia coal miners back to the field |

SycophanticGoat: Firstly, I can see some people already giving you phone numbers. Please don't get scammed again.
Secondly,
What is the guarantee that the money you have will run a full time program for you? What is also the guarantee that your part time program won't affect your job? What is the guarantee that you will get another job if you loose this one?
My advises to you are:
1. Be sure your future is secured before making critical decisions now. If the job you have guarantees you high level of job security, then leaving it for MSc isn't worth it.
2. MSc can't be the only way to upgrade one's self. You can acquire skills on the job and through self study. You can also run professional certification programs and write professional exams.
3. Even when you want to establish a business, you ought to be sure that the business has already began to generate revenues and has began to win over loyal customers before you consider resigning from your job. You may not even need to resign if you have competent hands managing the business and it can stand without your physical presence.
4. There are many MSc. holders out there without job, what will make you stand our from them? That special thing that makes you stand out from them, will become your defining factor. So if you do your MSc and you're just a regular guy that quit his job to build educational qualifications, then be sure to join the queue comprising of millions of jobless BSc and MSc holders out there. the only truth I ever came across of my 10years on nairaland |

why would she (The FG) introduce price control (p.c)? In what way did (FG) contribute in the value chain in cassava/garri production? for FG to now wake up & start to force down price. is it in the provision of high yield cassava stem ni, fertilizer ni,or chemicals or access road from farm to market. rather than place a ban on all touts claiming to be LG staffers who makes road blocks on all inter state roads and start to collect tolls on trucks conveying farm produce till the produce get to entry point of ketu or mile 12 market. better still let the FG buy from the farmers based on market forces and in turn sell to the public @ a cheaper price, but do we have structure to execute these. food meant for a handful of IDP's alone was stolen, diverted not to talk of an exercise for the whole nation. |
