omofunaab:
The Owus ran out of their heavily fortified city about 1826. They escaped through their southeastern gate in groups and entered their assailant territories through Ijebu Igbo and spread southward, settling in places like Ikija, Omu, Ayepe and other places. However, the main body of Owu escapees went towards the new settlement of Ibadan

. It is important to state that the present Orile Owu is the same place as Owu Ipole, earlier referred to, where Owus from Iwo and other places resettled in the early 20th century.

The main body of escapees from Ibadan marched across Ogun river and finally arrived at Oke Ata near Abeokuta where Sodeke and other Egba leaders persuaded them to settle about 1834. Again, Owu fought side by side with Egba in the Makun and other wars against Ado Odo and Dahomey in 1842-45. Owu contingents fought and routed Awori at Itori, Yobo, Ifo, Atan, Ota and also occupied those places till today.

Yes, Owu people had fought wars, won battles and settled in very many places between the Niger river and the sea (Owus in Lagos State; Epe, etc.), yet their main stream had settled among the Egbas in Abeokuta BUT, THEY ARE NOT EGBAS, neither are they lJEBUS. (See Johnson’s “History of the Yorubas, p.18). Owu settlements in Ijebu and Abeokuta were not as a result of direct battles or victory over them, but mostly on friendly terms.

But they are referred to as Owu-Egba which means
they are now Egbas who are also a sub-group of
the Oyo.

OBAGADAFFI:
The British-Ijebu war of 1892 (The battle of Imagbon)

In 1891, the Ijebu tribe, dwelling between 50 and 60 miles north-east of Lagos on the Magbon river, set a blockade on the trade route from the interior into Lagos, which was a crown colony, and charged customs dues which served as their income. The Awujale, the traditional ruler of Ijebu, closed down the Ejirin market, cutting off Lagos from a source of up-country trade.

The British government persuaded the Awujale several times to open the blockaded route but the Ijebu ruler remained adamant. However, in May 1891, a British acting governor, Captain C.M Denton C.M.G, together with some Hausa troops (mostly slaves who fled the North to South and were recruited by the British army) went to Ijebu kingdom to make an agreement with the Awujale on opening the blockaded route and allowing the free passage of goods into Lagos. The Awujale refused but after much persuasion and pressure, the Awujale agreed in January 1892 on the terms of receiving £500 annually as compensation for the loss of custom revenue.

However, the agreement didn’t last long. A white missionary was denied access to pass through the kingdom and was sent back. The British government were provoked by the action of the Ijebus and authorized the use of force on the kingdom. Britain gathered troops from Gold Coast (Ghana), Sierra Leone, Ibadan, and Lagos (the Hausa troops nearly 150).

Battle of imagbon

Colonel F.C. Scott C.B was the commander of the troops of 450 men piled up by Britain. On the 12th of May, 1892, the captain and his men, including some carriers, sailed up the Lagos Lagoon and landed at Ekpe.
When they got to Leckie, another carriers about 186 in numbers were recruited.
On the Ijebu side, 8000 men with old rifles would be fighting the British. The British underestimated the fighting prowess of the Ijebus thus giving them some hard times in penetrating into the interiors of Ijebu kingdom. The first day, the British army razed down four villages with some of their men sustaining fatal injuries. The next day, they proceeded to Atumba and gunned down the Ijebus with machine guns. Britain lost 12 men which include a Briton and 12 Africans. Every Ijebu villages they came across was burnt to the ground. The Ijebus were really losing the battle but determined to prevent the British army from crossing the Yemoyi river. The goddess of the Yemoyi river was said to have taken human sacrifice in order to prevent the intruders (British) from crossing. The river was dug deeper by the Ijebus to make it impenetrable by all means for the British army. However, the British army managed to cross the sacred Yemoyi river and unleashed havoc on the Ijebus. They proceeded to the village of Imagbon.

The Ijebus had lost over 900 men while Britain lost only 56 men and have more than 30 wounded. The Ijebus were still determined to fight on but shortly afterwards, the Awujale surrendered and admitted losing the war.

The British union flag was later raised above Ijebu Ode. Captain Scot warned his men against pillaging which some didn’t heed to especially the Ibadan irregulars who were later deprived of their arms. The toll gates in Oru built by the Ijebus were destroyed and some of their shrines were also torched.

This bloody war is also known in history as the 1892 Ijebu Expedition.

The British troops were awarded The East & West Africa Medal with Clasp dated ‘1892’.
Today, one of these medals can be found in Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge. Ijebu kingdom was later annexed to the colony of southern Nigeria.

Jonathan has fixed more roads than ALLprevious governments. Lagos- Ibadan,Completion of Ibadan- Ilorin,Benue- Oweto bridge,2nd Niger bridge, completion of Lagos-Abeokuta, recently awarded Ikorodu- Shagamu dualization.

ALL the aforementioned roads and several others are either completed or under construction. What is more? If in terms of performance,Jonathan has performed far,far than Obasanjo!!!! And ALL the gangup by Obasanjo and Babangida shall fail woefully. I say again that OBASANJO AS THE GANG LEADER SHALL BE PUT TO SHAME WHEN JONATHAN WINS SECOND TERM!!!!!!!

None of the roads you mentioned above was completed by that GEJ government. In fact road
Contractors were not paid for several months despite high oil prices and increased oil production. It was
Minister Raji Fasola that started paying them and
work continued on the major roads and more!

RIGHT now the terrible Ilorin-Jebba road has been
completed under Fasola and APC in less than 3 years.

Of all words to claim, Oba?

Funny enough, they don't have any meaning for it. It's just a part of their oba's title which is still mainly Yoruba.

Unfortunately, the mumu doesn't even know the meaning of the title.

grin... I ignored the uninformed troll by not
responding to him. I love the way you folks
brilliantly took him head on without faltering!

Before the arrival of Oranmiyan and his entourage
from Ife amongst the Bini, there rulers where called
OGISOS and NOT Obas. The current Oba of Bini on
the day of his coronation speech clearly stated that
Oranmiyan was the first Oba of Bini but he did
not stay long before returning to establish the
great Oyo Empire. The Oba Ewuare's speech can
still be read online. I actually ordered for a copy
of Vanguard the day after Oba Ewuare's coronation
because it is a historic event.

I read an article from the current Oba of Ido-Ani in
Ondo State (He was a senior army officer in the 1960s
who had earlier been informed by Major Kaduna
Nzeogwu about the planned first coup when they
were in India on a course but he rejected it when
Nzeogwu told him they planned to kill people) who
said Ani was a cousin/relative to Oranmiyan... and
when Oranmiyan went back to Ife, Ani also left Bini and
settled in what is now Ido-Ani.

So I wonder what some people gain by revising
history and falsely saying that Oba is not Yoruba
or that the Ijebu are not Yoruba when even the
Ijebu also claim an Ife migration!

Olu317 can give more details about this Ife-Bini
history to anyone because he is a part of Ife royalty.

Bini took some rites from Ife into their Royalty
and for centuries right up to the 1910s, the heads
of the Obas of Bini were usually buried in Ife.
These are the things that the guy who claims he
is from Edo is ignorant about. I don't think there is
anything to be ashamed of because even the British
Royalty of today is German. King George 1 came
to assume the Kingship of England and could ONLY
speak German at the time!

I hope this helps!

Deportation does not destroy the credibility of anything. The UK and USA have been conducting deportations of foreigners from their soil for many years (especially Africans), but it has not affected their credibility one bit. It is this false confidence that you chaps hold on to, that amuses me. cheesy

In the past, Nigeria did not give in to your claims. Yet you chaps are cocksure that today they would sit down to discuss "Biafra/Nigeria' reltionship and the status of its citizens." Whosai?! shocked Assumption is the mother of all fvckups. undecided Even if they embark on such discussions, Nigeria would have the upper hand and such discussions could drag on for several years! shocked

Diplomatic ties are not built on assumptions, illusions, blackmail, subtle manipulations or force. Like I said before, "If you want to establish diplomatic relations with another country, and that nation refuses to recognise you or to agree to establish ties with your country, what will you do?" Are you going to hold a gun to their heads to do so? huh

Nigeria may not deport 3 million Biafrans in one fell swoop, but they could enact laws to make it difficult, (if not nearly impossible) for Biafrans to visit or settle and do business within their borders. There is something called ease of entry and exit. And every sovereign country holds the aces in this regard.

That is why today, Botswana citizens with a valid passport do not need a visa to visit the UK, while you and I as well as citizens from over 40 other African countries, do.

‘I’ll teach you a lesson you will never forget’ — Buhari replies Obasanjo
TheCable in On the GoTop Stories

President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed to teach ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo “and his co-travellers” a political lesson they will never forget.

In a statement which Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman, issued on his behalf, Buhari accused the former president of being hostile to leaders he has no control over.

He described him as someone who lacks the moral standing to criticise his administration.

The statement was issued in response to the latest criticism of Obasanjo.

The elder statesman had alleged that Buhari was taking the country down the path of Sani Abacha, former military dictator.

Denying the allegation, Shehu said Obasanjo needed to visit his doctor for treatment.

“The sixteen-page letter the former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, wrote to President Muhammadu Buhari and released this afternoon is the last push by desperate politicians who can’t handle the President politically and have resorted to subterfuge,” the statement read.

“Our first message to the former President is that he needs a good doctor for good treatment and to say to him, ‘Get well soon’.”

“As repeatedly said of him, since Chief Obasanjo left office in 1979, he never let every succeeding leader of the country function freely, and this included the one he personally handpicked against all known rules drawn up by the party that put him in the office of the President. But Chief Obasanjo is jealous because President Buhari has more esteem than him and the sooner he learns to respect him the better.

“It is a notorious fact that in dealing with any leader that he failed to control, he resorted to these puerile attacks. As the grand patron, more correctly the grandfather of corruption as described by the National Assembly, Chief Obasanjo released today’s letter purely for the reason of rescuing his thriving corruption establishment.

The elections starting in February will be free and fair as promised the nation and the international community by President Buhari.

“What Chief Obasanjo and his co-travelers in the PDP should expect is that from the outcome, we will teach them a political lesson that they will never forget. This margin will be much bigger than we had in 2015.”

He also denied the allegations of Obasanjo that the Buhari administration had started recruiting the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) who would be used to rig the exercise.

“Claims that President Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have embarked on the president’s “self- succession project, by recruiting collation officers who are already awarding results based on their projects to actualise the perpetuation agenda, in which the people will not matter and the votes will not count” is not only utterly false, but a copious note from the book on the failed third term agenda of President Obasanjo,” the statement read.

“As for his attacks of the administration’s records in fighting corruption, what the former President said is no more than evidence that President Buhari’s war against corruption is succeeding. They thought it is all a joke.

“A leader who took USD 16 billion “upfront” to supply electric power yet failed to add a single megawatt to the national grid and to date, there is no trace of the money is jittery that he will be called to account. He is a coward.

“This language of his 16-page letter, likening President Buhari to General Sani Abacha, a man he dreaded and the one who jailed him under military laws is most unfitting from a former President of Nigeria.

“The claim that President Buhari has put in place rigging machinery is both outlandish and outrageous. We are unable to get the words to describe a 90-year old liar, except to say that by the publication of this tissue of lies against the President, he Obasanjo, not the President will fall from everyone’s esteem.”

albaniy1:
FESTUS KEYAMO DROPS THE MOTHER OF ALL BOMBS

Who are you calling dictator ?

Ex- President Obasanjo removed Senate Presidents at will, removed any opposing voice, removed Fayose for a small insult, and removed Ladoja with thugs in Ibadan. Who are you calling “DICTATOR”? BUHARI.
Ex-President Obasanjo withheld Lagos State fund for 3 years, not minding how Lagosians would eat, Yaradua got there and released the fund.

NASS members were abusing President Buhari openly, messing up everything at will; Gov. Fayose has been abusing President Buhari for 4 years now. Not a single State in Nigeria has been denied their constitutional rights because of politics till date, all their funds, Paris fund and bail out, FAAC etc. But who is the DICTATOR? BUHARI.

Ex-President Jonathan ensured that NASS opposition members were locked out including Tambuwa the Speaker of the house. They had to climb gate to gain access.

Jonathan empowered OPCs in Lagos and they were destroying anything in Ikorodu to Ojota that looked like opposition party. Orga of DSS was used to invade APC secretariat, Journalist arrested and Newspapers siezed, we forgot all these….

Ekiti was militarised, Fayose was given power from Aso rock to order Military guys at will. Fayemi the incumbent at that moment was rendered powerless that he was shouting when Police commissioner was used by PDP and a guy was shot…All these videos and pictures are still here (google is your friend). But who is the dictator? BUHARI.

Ex-President Jonathan met FX+ECA at $62 billion+. He DEPLETED it to less than $30 Billion in 5 years Jonathan sold crude oil for 5 years at an average of $100 per barrel of 2.2 million daily (2010-2014). Did he add a DIME to Nigeria purse in 5 years? NO.

Buhari the ILLITERATE sold oil at an average of $50 of less than 700,000 barrel at some points because of militancy, yet had moved that FX to $47 Billion in 3 years.

Don’t say how much did he borrow if you don’t even have the figure borrowed between 2010-2015 without adding a dime to FX.

Who is the ILLITERATE? BUHARIIII. Jide Omokore, Aluko and oil goddess Alinson made an oil deal of N1 trillion and chose not to remit to Nigeria under GEJ. Did anyone raise eyebrow?

INTEL of Ex-Vice President Atiku refused to remit to Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA), not until last year that “ordinary” Hadiza the NPA boss challenged INTEL and insisted the funds must be remitted.

A Christian Professor had been leading JAMB all through Obasanjo to Jonathan yet for 40 years of JAMB; only N52 Million was remitted to FG.

A Muslim Professor who was appointed just in two years of handling JAMB remitted over N15 Billion. FIFTEEN BILLION. So who is following after righteousness?

For five years of Okonjo Iweala was paying over 45,000 ghost workers unabated, yet just within 3 years, “ordinary” Kemi Adeosun removed such nonsense…I ask again who is more effective?

Ordinary Abuja metro lane took 11 years from OBJ period that he INITIATED it…Ordinary intra-city metro lane o, but President Buhari that finished is within 3 years is the failure abi?

“Which project did President Buhari INITIATE and COMPLETE in 3 years yen-yen-yen”.
Mention any major project INITIATED AND COMPLETED in 3 years of Ex-President Obasanjo, or Ex-President Yar’Adua or Ex-President Jonathan?

So on what parameters are you using to judge 3 years of President Buhari INITIATING AND COMPLETING? Even PDP can’t finish their own secretariat let alone that which belong to NIGERIA.

Lagos-Ibadan road since Ex-President Obasanjo era till Ex-President Jonathan could not be finished. In 3 years of President Buhari, the road is receiving serious attention. Ask those who ply that road and those who go for Holy Ghost Congress monthly about
the difference in pace of work. Wait, even Otuoke road in Bayelsa had to wait till President Buhari now starts to do the road. Who is the failure? Can it be BUHARIIII.

What about “Almajiri School in the North? WHERE exactly are these Schools SITUATED in the North? OK, show us the picture.

Emm, 2nd Niger Bridge? Lol, they completed it on the MAP, yet Fashola is on it PHYSICALLY now.

Did Buhari fail on security issue in Benue? YES. Did others before him fail on the same security issue in Benue? YESSS. So where did you get all these noise of “Fulani President” is helping herdsmen?

Who was the President during Jos crisis, herdsmen killing people in Zamfara in 2013, Odi massacre, Kaduna crisis? You think death suddenly started because President Buhari was a Fulani man? That he failed in that is one thing, but that YOU are making a narrative of “Fulani President” is giving herdsmen power is funny.

January 1, 2018 in Omoku, Rivers State, Christians were coming from Church; cultists from the South South killed their own people. You know why there was no serious noise by CAN and you? You could not link it to President Buhari’s herdsmen or Fulani herdsmen. The same WIKE that did not drop a million to support the families of those bereaved in his constituency (State) went to Benue State to donate N20 Milliion and you hailed him

Kidnapping of School children in Lagos; Badoo issue in Lagos; Crisis in Kaduna. Who did you call on? Ambode the Governor of Lagos and El-Rufai of Kaduna. When crisis happened in River State and Benue State, who did you shout about? President Buhari the herdsmen. What about your Bishops, Pastors and Imans that made Aso Rock their abode between 2010-2015? What did they negotiate for the body of Christ or common citizens? Yes, they got their jets; they got waivers and Universities all PERSONAL. Now that the tap to fuel their jets and lifestyles had stopped, all they tell you from the pulpit is “LIES and Prophelying“. Your anointed ones keep saying ANNOYING THINGS, yet you can’t query their lies?

Wait, I remember again your problem with President Buhari fighting corruption selectively. So, mention ONE name among those in EFCC case without a case to defend. If your hero Presidents had fought corruption with one leg, by now shebi it is the second leg that President Buhari will be fighting.

So what is your problem with the corrupt facing the music? Oh, how about blablablabla. If President Buhari did not catch them, somebody else will. But stop crying in defence of the corrupt being asked to face the music. If your uncle is corrupt, tell him to face it, and stop shouting how about other thieves.

I know you lost your job because Ex- President Jonathan lost out and your job with Mama Patience was terminated. But stop using your personal loss as a yardstick for Buhari’s achievement.

Under your hero, several young Nigerians were SCAMMED by Boro collecting money from them for Job, in the process killing many young Nigerians. Ex-President Jonathan cannot even sack him. So what do you want the families of those who died when Ex-President Jonathan scammed them of Jobs to do? Stop crying and face life.

For your information, all those lies about “hidden agenda” can only fly on you because they know you are biblically illiterate. I even saw somebody hailing Femi-Fani Kayode for being the voice for the Church. Haaaaaa, abomination. Abeg make I stop, come dey collect your abuses in packs. After all your abuse, na President Buhari I go still vote for. #

It was gathered that the suspect was caught within the market (probably for another operation) and handed over to the police for further interrogation.

A twitter user had previously shared pictures of the man who stole the units of laptops in his store as a manhunt was launched both online and offline to catch him.

He was beaten and dealt with by those who nabbed him before he was handed over to the police.

Twitter user Okere Franklin shared a footage of the suspect and wrote: "The thief who came into my store to steal three units of Dell Laptops was apprehended within the market. He has been handed over to the police for questioning".

According to his bio, he is an international journalist and CEO of Mark Eddo Media Ltd. Mark is the son of a Nigerian engineer and a British nurse and according to reports, he grew up in both Lagos and London.

Between 2006 and 2009 Mark was the Senior Correspondent Business and Economics for ITV News in London. On most week nights Mark joined Sir Trevor Macdonald on the News at Ten and kept ITV’s 5 million regular viewers informed on all the major business stories.

Before ITN, Mark spent 4 years working as a presenter and reporter at the BBC in London. He regularly hosted ‘World Business Report’ on BBC World. Mark provided BBC reports from Asia, South Africa, the USA and the Middle East. Until March 2012, he continued to work for the BBC as the roving reporter for BBC World’s Africa Business Report. Mark has also reported for Al Jazeera, CNBC, MSNBC, NBC in San Francisco and The Wall Street Journal TV in New York.

Mark is a respected public speaker who has moderated many major international business events such as the United Nations Habitat conference in Naples and Kigali and Economist Magazine Conferences in Abuja, Lagos and Addis Ababa.

Forget about debates... they have NEVER counted in
Nigerian Presidential elections. Most of the masses
don't even have TV to watch debates, and they constitute
the majority of voters with PVCs in Nigeria. grin

It is the elite and the middle class who watch these
debates that end up NOT voting on election day
especially in the South of Nigeria. They are the ones
who love to clap to every BIG ENGLISH debaters say on
TV but they constitute a smaller number of voters.

Atiku who did not come for the debate proper
will even get more votes that Fela Durotoye,
Ezekwesili, and Moghalu combined.

The Northerners are even more enthusiastic and
savvy about voting. PMB will win this election
based on existing projects his government has finished
in less than 4 years. On the day of the debate,
he commisioned the new Baro River Port in Niger
State. Performance WILL BE more POWERFUL than
any debate on TV!

Politics › Re: President Buhari Departs Abuja For Maiduguri, To Attend APC Presidential Rally by Konquest:
PMB will be re-elected based on credible indices and
political demographics on the ground.

Some people are making an issue out of PMB and Atiku
not attending the so-called debate... but in Nigeria
Presidential Debates DO NOT get YOU the presidency
or governorship most of the time.

In Ekiti, the APC and the PDP candidates did NOT attend
the 2018 Governorship debate organised by TVC Ado-Ekiti, yet
APC and PDP had the highest votes. Subconciously, people
gravitate towards the bigger parties in that Nigeria.
grin

Why is this so?

Because the majority of the voters in Nigeria are not
TV wachers and there are more people in the rural
and suburban areas who have their PVCs already.

A lot of elite and middle-class especially in the South of Nigeria
unfortunately do NOT vote regularly, but are busy clapping for
contestants in a so-called Presidential Debate on TV.

Presidential Debates are just one of the ways of ENGAGING
the citizens around the world in democratic settings. THERE
are other methods of reaching the masses directly which are more
efficient. We have Town Hall meetings which PMB had on 16th of January
2019 in Abuja and was broadcast live on TV and the Internet.

I can say that Atiku Abubakar will have MORE votes than
Fela Durotoye, Ezekwesili and Moghalu COMBINED in this election
because of the demographic distribution of voters with PVCs
especially in the North. UNTIL those small parties' candidates put
their egos aside and merge... they CANNOT WIN Presidential
elections in Nigeria!

PMB will get higher votes than Atiku. Even the day PMB missed the
debate, he was commisioning the new Baro River Port in Niger State
which is a good campaign material for him and APC. He has the
power of incumbency and projects that his government has
completed or is about to complete in JUST under 4 years.

This is Nigeria... Mark my words!

Politics › Re: Olota Threatens To Mobilise Awori Against Lagos APC by Konquest:
adebuk47:
The Olota of Ota Kingdom, Oba Adeyemi Obalanlege, has decried the alleged marginalisation of Awori people in Lagos State by the ruling All Progressives Congress-led government.

The monarch said Awori people had been neglected by the APC government in the sharing of political positions while non-indigenes were placed far above them.

Speaking in an interview on Friday, Oba Obalanlege threatened to mobilise the Awori to vote against the APC candidates if the alleged marginalisation was not addressed.

The monarch, who said the Awori in Lagos State as well as those in Ogun State were his subjects, stated that the leadership of the ruling party in Lagos State must give the neglected indigenes a strong commitment to address the issue without delay.

He said, “Historically, when you look at the axis of the South-West, I mean from Ota to Igbesa, Agbara and Lagos, the area belongs to the Awori; there is no contest about that. But the problem now is that the Awori are being marginalised politically. When you look at it, we used to have the deputy governornorship position and a representative in the Senate. But looking at those contesting within the APC in Lagos in the coming elections, none of them is Awori. Not minding that Awori people are in Ogun State, we own Lagos State. My parents sold the land where Ray Power is built in Lagos.

“Despite our stake in Lagos, we are being margianlised. But if nothing is done, or there is no major promise from the APC to address this, I will call on all Awori not to vote for the major party and I want the leadership of the party to see the power of Awori.

“If there is no major statement concerning what the APC has for Awori people, we will not vote for the party; and let us wait and see the consequences of that.

“You cannot come to a people’s ancestral land and still deny them of everything including political power. How do they expect Awori people to feel? Most of these people came from outside Lagos. You cannot come from a faraway place and marginalise us and expect us not to react. I want the APC to look into that.”

But Senator Olamilekan Yayi who is a Chartered Accountant
is an Awori-Yoruba representing a constituency in
Lagos State at the Senate.

By the way, I thought Babajide Sanwo-Olu is from
Lagos Island... hence an Awori indigene?

I know that Obafemi Hamzat's father is an Oba in
Ogun State and hence Obafemi is a Prince.

Aworis also came from Ife in OSUN State so I wonder
what the chap who posted a message above is saying
about Asiwaju Bola TINUBU coming from Osun.
Asiwaju Bola TINUBU was adopted by Alhaja Abibat
Mogaji who is from Lagos Island and hence Bola is
from Lagos Island as well. The Oba of Lagos is also
very close to the Tinubus so I don't get the point
of all those shouting that somebody should go back
to Osun. grin

Most people of Yoruba ancestry in Nigeria - South West,
Kwara and Kogi in North Central, Usen/Egbeta etc in Edo State,
Ugborodo[Escravos]/Itsekiri in Delta State, Benin
Republic, Togo and parts of Ghana, have their migratory
roots in Osun so will you say that everybody should go
back to Osun? It makes no sense!

PS: APC should however do whatever corrections to appease
the Awori-Yorubas in 17 LGAs out of 20 in Lagos State and Ijebu-Yorubas of Ikorodu LGA, Epe LGA, Ibeju - Lekki LGA who are the real
indigenes of Lagos State if there is any need to.

Politics › Re: Buhari’s Campaign Slams Saraki Over Oil And Gas Figures by Konquest: 11:04pm On Jan 19, 2019
14Ebiscoo:
The Buhari Campaign on Friday accused the Director General of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign, Dr. Bukola Saraki, of resorting “to baseless campaign of calumny” directed at the person of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Dr. Bukola Saraki’s resort to poorly choreographed and worn-out political brinksmanship is fueled by the obvious absence of any credible agenda or bearing to present to Nigerians in their campaigns.

“In clear demonstration of hallucination with figures, Dr. Bukola Saraki claimed, in an interview with Channels Television a few days ago, that Nigeria's petrol consumption is about 20-22 million Iitres per day and that the current import level of about 50 million litres is a scam and fraudulent,” Festus Keyamo, SAN, Director, Strategic Communications, APC Presidential Campaign Council (Official Spokesperson), said in a statement.

According to Keyamo, “the same Dr. Bukola Saraki was in the 7th Senate and knows very well that in 2014 and part of 2015, the PDP Government that was in power was reporting to Nigerians daily PMS consumption of 35-40 million litres per day. (In January, 2014 for example, the average monthly consumption was 38 million Iitres per day. By January, 2015 under the same government of PDP, they reported 36 milIion Iitres per day and March 2015, the daily consumption reported by PDP government was 45 million Iitres per day, whilst importing at levels above 80 million litres per day).

“Strangely, years later, the PDP Campaign DG is peddling a phantom fuel consumption figure of 20-22 million litres per day.

“The PDP Chief Campaigner discountenanced the obvious fact that within the last three years of the current administration, the Nigerian economy that PDP left in comatose has been jump-started to vibrancy leading to remarkable changes in energy consumption needs and patterns.

“The allegation that the national oil company prevailed on Mr. President not to seek appropriation for subsidy and to rather treat it as cost under-recovery is not only laughable and mischievous, but it is a blatant lie.”

Continuing, Keyamo said: “Verifiable records indicate that NNPC has never claimed subsidy payment from any government in its history of operation. All NNPC’s transactions in this regard have been treated as product costs under-recovery.

“The Corporation, like any other business entity, does its business and recovers its cost from its revenues.

“It is instructive to note that in his rush to indict the NNPC and the President, willy-nilly, Dr. Bukola Saraki forgot that a Senate Committee was set up by him to investigate the intervention of NNPC in PMS imports.

“The mandate of the Committee includes volumes, costs and any associated under-recoveries. The big question remains; why would he not wait for the outcome of the Committee he set up to investigate the matter? Is it because he believes the outcome of his Committee will not satisfy his predetermined mindset?

“Nigerians should therefore ignore the tantrums of Dr. Bukola Saraki as it concern the oil and gas sector.”

Dog is a delicacy in a few other places. Calabar people are just unfortunate to be flag bearers, lol. Among Yorubas it's the Ondo people that get the sticker but they are not the only ones that eat it. To Muslims eating dogs is considered unclean.

Traditionally, male Yorubas prostrate while females kneel to greet elders. These days men just bow and women bend their knees. Google the controversial image of Theresa may genuflecting to the queen of England to understand how women greet their elders in Yoruba land. Of course not with a hand shake as in the picture. It is not seen as respectful to most Yoruba elders for a younger person to extend their hand first for a handshake. They expect you to wait for them to do so first . Although, you should be the first to greet when you meet an elder. Lagos is cosmopolitan so you may choose to or not to genuflect. What I think is generally acceptable is to add "sir" and "ma" when you greet them and just generally be courteous in the European or American sense.

I was raised in Abuja but I am from and had my university education in the west. In Abuja, after English and pidgin English, the most spoken language is Hausa. Although it is our capital city, it is geographically northern. All the sates surrounding it are geo-politically northern sates.

However, it is the most truly Nigerian city in the country as virtually every group is very well represented.
Before it became our capital, government starting from the '80s, began relocating civil servants from every state of the country to work here. So the city has maintained that national character ever since.
I wish every place in the country were like Abuja in the way you have a mix of every group.

There are too many tribes to talk about. Here are some dominant ones and the regions they live. These are according to their geopolitical zones.

South-South
Ikwere (linguistically classified as igboid)
Izon or Ijaw

Urhobo
Itsekiri (linguistically classified as Yoruboid)

North-central
Nupe
Igala (linguitically classified as Yoruboid)
Gbagyi

North-east

Each one of these groups have their unique identities culture and languages separate from the three major languages.

At first i thought it was a frenzy that is unfounded but day by day we read of how men were nabbed with different pants for ritual purposes.

It is therefore very sacrosanct for ladies to guard against this barbaric practice. In my opinion i believe these 5 measures will go a long way to guard their pants
.

1.Ladies should stop wearing pants to visit their men.

2.If you are in that time of the month don't visit any man.

3.Reduce the number of your pants to the number you can remember and if you must dispose any please Burn them.

4.If you wash your pant, monitor it keenly or use drier if you have one to make it dry fast and buy pants with fast dry fabrics.

5.Do a due diligence daily on your pants by counting them every night. If you find any missing and can't find it just look for anointing oil and anoint your .... while you make BACK TO SENDER prayer with one day dry fasting. sad

6.Don't trust anyone with your pants..even your female friends.

7.This is not endemic to Nigeria alone so ladies should guard their pants regardless of the country you reside.

8.Make sure you know the root source of your man's income and avoid dating fraudulent men.

Please add yours to help our ladies against these mad predators.

Buhari has SW, NW, NE and parts of SS on lock down.

More than 28 governors are for Buhari. Governors make elections happen.

In Lagos, I have noticed some reaction against Buhari. They actually blame him unfairly for the problems PDP caused and the tough measures required to solve them like Naira partial floating, and fuel price. However, Buhari wins Lagos and most of SW by a landslide. The people love his integrity and SW is made up of semi rural living areas where they traditionally vote for Buhari. Not everybody is a salary earner taking BET everyday. Buhari has raised an army of 12million farmers in SW, SE and NC.

NE, Atiku will lose Borno, Adamawa.

C.Rivers/ Akwa Ibom
, Buhari will beat Atiku hands down because of some tribal issues.

NW, you dont win the Presidency without NW. Buhari rules here. Tambuwal did not win nomination. He won't be so strong for Atiku. Buhari has Ganduje, Shekarau and most of Kwankwasiya with Kwankwaso losing nomination in KANO.

This is a LIE about GEJ losing due to conspiracy theory. The truth is that Nigerians were under hardship as well during this high oil price era of GEJ. It was the practical reality of day to day suffering that did GEJ in ...not propaganda. So the current suffering is well recognized as coming from that era.

Buhari regime has had to implement necessary painful measures to revamp the economy. No intelligent person thought it was going to be easy to restructure the economy. The danger of going back to PDP is they 2ill try to bribe Nigweins and reverse some things which will increase inflation and make Naira valueless or liberalize imports and destroy the exchange rate
