BroadwayAfrica: Etinosa Idemudia is a special child. Before the age of 22 she had finished school and started work as an engineer in a multinational firm. Not long after, she built her own house in Port Harcourt. She had the world under her feet and she did what almost every young girl at her age and stage would do; “fall in love”.
Eti, as she is fondly called, who does not like to do things halfway, went all the way, damned all the consequences and got married at 22; at an age where a lot of her peers are still trying to find their paths in life, after all, things have always gone right for her and she believes this wouldn’t be an exception. However, it turned out to be a wrong decision. Not just wrong, it almost cost her, her life.
Eti was lucky to escape with her life after several beatings and assault. Today, she lives to tell the story but not without some painful recollection. In an exclusive interview with BroadwayTV, Eti, who is popular for her Instagram skits and gaining lots of attention in Nollywood with noticeable roles in Esoehe, Stormy Hearts, Mentally and the new popular series Battle Ground on African Magic, said comedy was an escape route for her after years of torture.
She spoke like never before with tears in her eyes on her visit to Broadway TV about her new movie, Stormy Hearts, getting married, getting divorced and reasons not to marry just for love.

maynation: Darling, I am Yoruba and I have watched enough of Yoruba movies to last my generations to come. So I definitely know what I am writing.
I am not disputing the fact that Yorubas are pioneers of dramatic reformations in Nigeria, all what I am saying is upgrade the industry and make our movies sellable.
The subtitle is the worst thing that has happened to humanity, so many foolish and unnecessary mistakes and these have shown how dead our grammatical locutions are. But then, this isn't my concern. My problem is 80% of these yoruba actors and actresses can't speak good English on set and most of them lack confidence to face the camera and express themselves in English. This is the only reason why most of them can't accept English speaking roles. Apart from Gabriel Afolayan, Kunle Afolayan, Afeez Adedimeji, Femi Adebayo, Funso Adeolu, Adeniyi Johnson(to a considerable extent) and some few more guys, how many of them could speak good English despite the peak they've attained in their various careers.
Odunlade Adekola once rejected taking role in an English movie. Why? Obviously because the confidence is lacking, he gave a huge nonsense as excuse but we all know it's a lie. Compare Omotola Jolade, Desmond Elliot, Ninalowo Bolanle, Mercy Johnson, Mercy Aigbe,Funke Akindele and many more others that speak good English to some silly jokers whose names won't even be taken note of? They guys are lagging behind abeg.

I got to read your profile after I had sent my first post to you... so yes I accept... and its good to know that you are of SW ancestry and are NOT just hating or being ethnically biased like some trolls do on NL.
OK... You seem to have had contact with some of the traditional Yoruba actors for you to make some of your summations. I agree with about the bad spellings in the subtitles of some of the movies... but just as I said earlier, most of the films you see on TV are pirated works and that is why they have bad spellings.
ONTV and DSTV carry out very good screenings of movies that don't have those spelling errors so as to be able to retain the sanity of their viewers who get subjected to poorly translated movies - in all local languages.
You see, when the movies are originally made, the "Video Editors" who do the editing of the films keep copies of the films in digital format [MP4] on their laptops for themselve and family to watch for free and then SELL THEM to the MOVIE PIRATES who do not care about quality. Because of the lack of central control or unregulated movie sector the movies are not vetted before release and so you have piracy thriving.
Last but not least... Odunlade has acted in English language movies such as Funmi Holder's "The Grudge."

bknight: Is this same Anita whose nude pictures with a white guy were leaked and printed in one of those evening newspapers very many years ago. I think Oyibo guy eventually married her?
Anyone?
^^^^ ^^^^ No... the one you are refering to is Anita Hogan [a reality show contestant] whose computer repairer/technician leaked her private nude beach pictures taken with her then Dutch fiance... who ended up becoming her husband. I still remember that episode like yesterday. I saw the censored and uncensored pictures then. I'm glad the white guy married her 'cause people were already saying that she was sleeping around with older white men for money.
maynation: [s]I hope she has good command of English?
Most of our Yoruba actors and actresses don't, the guys are worse[/s].

Your comment is VERY misleading and insulting to the professionals of Yoruba ancestry in the English/Yoruba movie industry!
They started the movie industry in Nigeria and as of 1988... The first home video films appeared in Yoruba and were subtitled and even screened in the cinemas in Lagos simultaneously. This is after they also pioneered the cinema industry right from the 1960s. I did a research years ago and was stunned to know that many of them are well-informed.
In 1969 the first commercially successful Nigerian movie [Kongi's Harvest] by Prof. Wole Soyinka [who is also a film maker and international writer] was screened in the cinemas in Lagos. Veteran actors and film makers such as Baba Sala, Hubert Ogunde, Dr. Ola Balogun a veteran film maker, Kunle Afolayan's dad [Ade Love] shot the movie "Taxi Driver" in the 1980s, a Lagos Island Prince form the Kosoko Royal House [Jide Kosoko], Joke Silva, Olu Jacobs, Bimbo Akintola and MANY MORE younger actors have produced and acted in Yoruba and English movies.
Many of them are well-educated graduates even right up to the PhD level, and are they are good multi-linguists... meaning that they speak good Yoruba, English, and any other language. You know very little about the Yoruba segment of the Nigerian movie industry based on your skewed post.
Maybe you are CONFUSING the subtitling of some pirated movies and you assume they don't speak the so-called English language. I have seen many Yoruba language movies that were sub-titled in English and they were well edited WITH LITTLE ERRORS.
Those movies with bad subtitlings are pirated copies that were annoyingly made up by dubious Video Editors.
I hope this helps you to understand things better. Please get informed.

Dailyhappenings: General Ibrahim Babandiga, a former Nigerian Military President, has welcomed President Muhammadu Buhari to the club of those aged above 75.
In a statement by the former military leader, he described President Buhari as 'an excellent role model to many young aspiring politicians and even to the not-so-young, because of the way and manner you have managed to sustain the survival of our country as an indivisible one nation albeit in the face of many daunting diversions'.
He went on to say "you achieved great success in the fight against corruption, terrorism and other forms of insecurity in addition to getting our country out of economic recession. I wish to congratulate you for all the achievements you have recorded in your lifetime and particularly for your humility, deep sense of honesty and faith you have shown in the various aspects of governance, politics and democracy as our President.”
“As we get over our mid-seventies, we can say with all sense of modesty that we should celebrate every birthday anniversary with prayers in order for us to thank Allah for all the blessings and the bounties He showered upon us.
“It is only fair that we pause and reflect in our own different ways on all the life’s challenges we face day by day and the positive strides we have been blessed to attain.
“A typical day in the life of a Nigerian President requires faith, poise, patience, tenacity, experience, strategic thinking and quality character for one to get through it.”
“I join the first lady, Aisha and all your children and grandchildren in wishing you many happy returns of your birthday.
“Aisha’s loyalty and support, as the home front commander, is invigorating since by our age we require much comfort, care and affection at home. Welcome to our club of the over 75.
^^^^^^ ^^^^^^ Incredible... I can't believe IBB said that! IBB is a "Maradonic fox."
IBB too must be having an epiphany right now knowing full well that what they did to GMB [PMB] in 1985 was and act of betrayal. PMB actually knew about the coup plan... but he told IBB and co to do whatever they wanted to do. Buhari could have resisted and caused blood shed but he chose NOT to eliminate IBB and the other coup plotters of August 1985.
PMB granted a newspaper interview in 2014 in Punch in which he revealed this information.
oyahitme: Nigerian film actress, director, and producer Alice Iyabo Ojo shares as taken her time to share a cute photo of her daughter, Priscilla Ajoke Ojo as she wrote:

They chased our members with their weapons, stoned some of the women, set ablaze the plastic chairs they were seated on and destroyed some properties belonging to our coordinator and host, Mr Badams Abdulrahaman. This happened in the presence of four policemen after we have written officially to the Divisional Police Officer to notify him of the meeting in our letter dated December 7, 2018 which was acknowledged and the same notification was conveyed to the Area Commander in charge of Adavi Local Government” she said.

“They issued threats of unleashing mayhem on him and his family. They also destroyed Akpoti’s banner while shouting songs of war against anybody who identifies with Akpoti. On the 20th of October, some police officers in company of Ismaila Kashim and APC Obeiba ward 1 chairman, Abdulwahab Koto allegedly under the instruction of the Okehi LG Secretary, Hon Ibrahim Sheidu came to remove the banner of the SDP candidate on the claim that the banner was mounted too close to the venue of the APC Obeiba Ward 1 meeting.”
“One Ajinodu Ojo led his gang to destroy Akpoti’s banner mounted opposite Ihima Community Secondary School Street, Obeiba Ihima, Okehi LGA. On December 2, some alleged APC armed thugs attacked the women wing of the Akpoti Campaign Organization during their weekly ward meeting at Enyi Dudu Primary School, Ebogodo”

The senatorial hopeful urged security agents to hold Kogi State Government and Alhaji Yakubu Oseni responsible for whatever happens to her and SDP faithful in the state.”
She also urged the Inspector General to investigate the actions of these APC chieftains and bring them to book.
Amanda333: Pls mums and dads in the house, I just need ur advice, just tell me the truth if i should apologise to this woman or not. Sorry for the long story and grammatical errors
There is this certain woman, let me say her family and ours are friends. She probably speaks with my hubby b4 he married me. We all are living outside naija but last yr her hubby decided to send her and the kids down to Nigeria. Ever since then, this woman wont let my husband be. She calls her on daily basis, she chats her up on facebook, whatsapp, Imo etc and she will be calling her baby, nwa, papam etc, telling him i love, i miss you bla bla bla. she also send her pictures, sometimes she will bring out her tongue, snap and send the pics to my hubby, not only that she even send pictures of nude and sexy ladies all over my hubby's fone.
At first i kept quite but later i told hubby that am no longer comfortable with what is happening, he said he will tell woman to mind herself, which he did but the woman didn't stop. I decided to talk to the woman by myself since she is somehow my friend. I chatted her up via facebook and begged her to focus on her hubby and be sending all those pics to him, Infact i advised her as a friend and sis because i heard she is having little little issues with her man. She accepted my advise and thanked me yet she didn't want to stop instead she told my hubby to be deleting their chats and her pics/videos, when i saw that i was pained i have to tell her that am aware of what is still going one, that i thought she is a good friend but since she dont want my happiness, no problem she should continue. I ignored everything concerning her chats until one day i was browsing with hubby's fone, her messages started entering, "Hi dear, missing you, feel like hearing ur voice etc" then i lost it, i told her(via hubby's fone) to keep missing and feeling to hear his voice, let her not focus on his hubby and kids, i later called her senseless woman. After like two weeks the woman sent me one letter like that dat i have insulted her enough, that am selfish and jealous etc. I was so annoyed after reading her letter, i have to dish it back to her. We exchanged unpleasant words via messenger, Since then, am not so happy about the issue, i feel like telling her am sorry for the whole issue but one side of me is telling me that i shouldn't do that because she deserved what she got from me (honestly i insulted her so well despite the fact that she is my senior although she didnt want to respect herself). I am a peaceful being i hate keeping malice but this woman really pushed me, can u imagine sometimes she will be calling my hubby by 1 or 2 midnight.
NB: I don't want to tell her hubby whats going on because the man is a nice man, he is my hubby's friend he even came to our house last week Sunday and he respects me alot, he even told me that he want to bring his wife back because she has being misbehaving ever since she travelled to naija.
pls i want you guys to advice me, should i tell her sorry or should i 4get her and let our malice continue, I have some of her messages to hubby on my fone but wont send it here because i may see the story somewhere else like igboist and co and hubby is in Igboist
Thanks for ur advice
^^^^^ ^^^^^ I love your maturity... by not sending hired assasins after that other woman.
Let your hubby keep off cause he's still into the lady... but stay safe so the other lady doesn't start plotting to take revenge against you through hiring of someone to harm you. Infatuation from a cheating woman can be very destructive!
chidima2019: No fewer than 500 political appointees and elected officials under the first and second term of the immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, on Tuesday defected to the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Ado Ekiti.
The defectors, numbering 500 were the serving and former local government elected and appointed political officials of the former governor between 2003 -2007 and 2014-2018.
The defectors were received on behalf of Governor Kayode Fayemi and the leadership of the party by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon Adeniran Alagbada.
They promised to work assiduously for the triumph of President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 presidential poll as well as working for the successes of other APC candidates for the state and federal legislative elections.
Speaking at the event, Alagbada who decamped to APC prior to the July 14 governorship election, assured that the defectors will be treated with respect in the new party.
He said the APC operates an open door policy, which places equality in ranks and opportunities between the old and new members.
The Speaker added that all their outstanding severance allowances since 2003 will be paid in line with the promise made by Governor Fayemi. He said this was part of the reasons for the defection.
“I have spoken with Governor Fayemi, he had assured me that he will put smile on your faces. You struggled hard under the PDP led government of Governor Fayose but nothing was done.
“But we have a governor Fayemi who is responsive and responsible, he has listened to your plight and he was ready to fight for you. He is ready to pay your allowances in spite of the fact that you are members of opposition.
“When I met the governor, he told me that whether you defect or not that he would pay and that he had instructed the council bosses to begin the processes that would fasttrack the payment.
“Your defecting to APC only connotes that you believe in what Governor Fayemi has been doing. Within two weeks he assumed office, the governor abrogated the taxes being paid in state public and private primary and secondary schools and declared full free education up to secondary level.
“This is the kind of governor we must be electing in Ekiti. A governor that knows how to empower his people , not the one that would pauperise and enslave them the way Fayose did”, he said.
Speaking for the defectors, Kehinde Aduloju from Ado Local Government , said they were fascinated by Fayemi’s sterling leadership qualities to defect to the ruling party.
He regretted that all their days in the PDP had not really brought any political dividends to them, alleging that all the promises made to them under the immediate past administration were not fulfilled.
Aduloju said the APC would trounce the PDP in the next year’s election in the state, predicating this on the fact that those that matters in PDP have all decamped to the ruling party.
“Today, bigwigs like Senator Raji Rasaki, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, Hon Adeniran Alagbada, Gboyega Aribisogan, Sunday Akinniyi and many others are in APC. To us, PDP had become an empty camp with few relevant politicians to confront APC.
“We have resolved that wherever Governor Fayemi goes we shall follow him. He is one governor that has listening ears, he is receptive to corrections and even criticism .
“We have nothing to fear in APC because the way Prince Adeyeye was given the APC senatorial ticket few days after defection shows that APC remains a good party”, he stated.
stephenduru: David Imoh Umoette, a 19 year old from Awa in Onna LGA of Akwa Ibom State, has broken the record as the youngest Nigerian to ever fly the SQUADRON FLIGHT 331 of the American Air Force.

David is the son of Mr. Aniekan Tim Umoette, who works in United States Law enforcements and Department of State Security personnel, and holds a Bsc in criminology and masters degree in Healthcare Management from the prestigious American Intercontinental University. Mr. Tim is the founder of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio in the United States of America.
^^^^^ ^^^^^ Congratulations to the BIG U.S. Airman of Nigerian-American descent!
He's got striking facial looks with his father... only much taller. His father is the founder of an Ibibio socio-cultural association in Texas, so how can anyone say the 19-year-old military airman is not a Nigerian?
Many U.S. - born Nigerians from my interactions still feel a sense of connection to their ancestries on conscious and subconscious levels.
During the 1990 1st Gulf War under the iconic President George W. Bush Snr, a lot of Nigerian-Americans started featuring more in active foreign combat missions for the US.
I had friends and family who featured in those military operations with the Marine Corps starting from the late 1980s right into Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm in 1990 leading right up when Iraqi troops were bombarded out of Kuwait by the Allied Forces under the command of the iconic German-American, US. Army General Norman Schwarzkopf, who has since passed on.
Some Nigerian-Americans died in active combat in Iraq from 2004... but that's the way it is... a call to war!
