The assurance of climbing up the progress ladder in any profession includes taking professional exams, one of which is ICAN, upskilling and doing constant research as it relates to your field. So writing ICAN exams is not totally out of it. Also, you need to add skills like financial modelling. Whether we'll like to disagree or not. Professional qualifications open more one to more earning potentials.
Lastly, don't forget about other digital skills as highlighted above.
