Hello Omopapa, I am a registered Biomedical Scientist with the HCPC, I have an Unconditional offer to Study Biomedical Laboratory Science in Sheffield Hallam University to resume in September. I would like you to advice me on how to go about building my UK work experience portfolio and I would also like to know what are my chances of getting job with NHS considering my 2years work experience here in 9ja.

You are already sitting on Gold.
That HCPC registration is fantastic!!!
If I may suggest, go to www.indeed.co.uk or www.reed.co.uk
Create an account and create job search alerts around your school, use the school postcode.
Always read the JD of posted adverts. Infact, be applying for the jobs sef.
When you reach Uni in September, you may wish to volunteer a few hours per week in an NHS Trust lab near you.
When you reach the UK, do not limit your job searches to ‘low hanging fruits’ of Care work, security work, warehouse work, retail work or hospitality. Go for Gold. You may even get some locum positions in labs.
That HCPC wey you get so, Na golden ticket.

Hi guys,

i got an offer from Ulster university in Northern Ireland, Data science (applied research). Tuition is 19k, it is a 2 year program and i got a 2k discount leaving the deficit at 17k.

my question is, can I get jobs in Northern Ireland for my upkeep while schooling? Any contribution will be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes. You may get so called “student jobs“ (usually ranging from £8:50 - £12.00 per hour).
And you are permitted to work a maximum of 20 hours per week.

Please i will like to find out if masters in public health is a lucrative course. And if it can get me a good job in the UK?

Masters in Public Health is NOT a lucrative course, unfortunately (strictly my opinion).

If I may ask (for the sake of clarity and to help others), what type of job roles EXACTLY do you think your MPH degree will stand you out in the UK? Or anywhere in the world for that matter?

IMPORTANT ADVICE ON SECURING EMPLOYMENT

No course you study will give you automatic job opportunity for PR. There is nothing like the best course to study. We only suggest you to seek shortage occupation list job because of the minimum financial earnings giving you more chance. However, this will not guarantee you any job.

People that are not even in shortage lists can even get full time job and resume immediately after their studies as there are numerous examples of these. What will enable you secure job in the UK for PR are your skills, competences and experience. These will enable you stand out.

For example, if there is only one position for Mechanical Engineering in an organisation and about three people reach the final interview stage. What will make you get the job is what you will add to the company that the other candidates might not add. If you have good programming and can apply machine learning and AI to improve your company, then you will most likely get the job as opposed to others who dont have those skills. Soft skills like good interpersonal and project management skills can also be the difference between success and failure.

Good day, house

Please, I got a conditional offer of admission from University of Bradford (M.Sc Medical Bioscience)

One of the conditions is payment of 2000 pounds, while the other is providing IELTS or equivalent test result.

I wrote them a mail, asking for exemption from providing that result on the basis of my high school and undergraduate education. Also attached my WASSCE result and certificate of English proficiency to the mail I sent to them.

I'll like to know, are their conditions ironclad, or is there a chance they'll reconsider and rescind their earlier decision?

If there is anyone schooling at UB, please, how is the school and the area generally?

@ Omopapa and others

Wait for the school to reply you.

Well , going for 2yrs program may be a waste of time if doing menial jobs is the reason but if upgrading yourself is the reason then you are good to go . Here are my reasons.
1. During your first year, you may like to focus more on your studies without learning extraordinarily

2. For IT students, the 2nd year maybe used to read and sit for international certifications to add to your CV e.gCIsco CyberOps Associate
CCNP Security
CCIE Security
Certified Ethical Hacking Certification
GIAC Penetration Tester
Offensive Security Certified Professional

The first 2 can be written in the pace of 6 months
where the last 3 can be written in a space of one month . It's like(using one stone to kill birds)
3. As an IT student, 2 years even without seeing where to do intern ..... is an advantage to learn and you may even decide to leave uk after your studies if you wish.

this is part of my view for 2years option

Good picture painted there. Have any idea how much ££££ it will cost to obtain those certifications?

Yes, there are job opportunities.
But that masters in Occupational Health & Environmental management may not necessarily give you a job. There are uK folks who have experience and lots of NVQs, who never went to university that could be better poised to snap up those jobs.

Yes. But the dependant visa must cover the duration of studies.

Thanks bro.
So that means a husband and wife can study for masters at the same time on 1 tier-4visa?
Especially if the main applicant is on a 2 year masters, and the dependent is on a 1 year masters.

Stenon.

If your brother in law still have visa that will cover his study duration, he does not need to apply for tier 4 visa.

With dependant visa, you can work and study full time without restriction.

Wait .... are you telling me that the dependant husband of a 4-year PhD candidate can enrol for back-to-back MSc without having to apply for a tier-4 visa? Really?

Are you sure someone with a tier4 dependant visa can study at Higher degree level on that visa?

Goodmorning. Please Is it possible to use a Pounds account in UK to apply for students visa from Nigeria? Let me ask it this way, a friend is a tier 4 dependant to her husband, married and with kids. She want to go back to Nigeria and apply for her own tier 4 visa using her pounds account in UK for maintenance fees.
Thanks

Hi STENON,
Does she really need to travel back, to apply for her own tier-4 visa?
Ordinarily, I would think she can do it in-country?

This may be like comparing apples and oranges, but I know a tier-4 student who completed an MSc, then while still in the UK, she applied for ANOTHER tier-4 in-country, without having to travel.

Maybe your friend could research and see if it’s possible?

Pls Is there any University in London that won't require I pay any fee upfront before getting my visa?

I want to only pay for tuition when I get the visa is this possible?

Any University at all in England?

Is there any university in Nigeria that you can do Matriculation before paying ‘Acceptance Fee’ or Tuition fees?

If your problem is that you don’t want to pay, then get a visa refusal after paying, don’t worry.
If you don’t get a visa. The university refunds you monies you have paid.

Hope this helps.

Good afternoon,

Please, I would like to know how to prove my English proficiency, I have been given a conditional Offer of Admission at University of Exeter with merit scholarship of 5,000 pounds. I have submitted my WAEC result along with my application.

Students are adviced to submit evidence of their English language test result before they can issue an unconditional offer.

The deadline for tuition deposit is March 12, 2020. While I wait for decisions from other universities, do you think I will be able to retain the offer if deposit is not paid by the deadline?

@ justwise, and others in the house, I need you advise.
Thanks.

Justwise & others may be able to give you good advice.
The BEST advise you can get is from the University itself. Don’t be shy. Shoot them an email.

If you trust strangers on Nairaland to provide advice, then be kind enough to provide details.
What course?
What level of education are you going for?

I want to apply for tier 2 visa

‘Biological Sciences’ in the shortage list is broad-based.
As I posted here before (based on advise I saw someone post).

1. Go to UK job vacancy sites (such as indeed.com or reed.co.uk or CV library or NHS jobs, or Totaljobs etc...

2. Search for your dream job (in Biological Science).

3. Peruse the requirements.

4. Make sure you cross the T’s and dot the I’s.

5. Apply for the job.

The first time they sent my offer letter I was given £2,000 as international award. By the time I forwarded my transcript and employer's reference on letter-headed paper they added £1,000 as international merit award. I had 2'2 in BMLS

If I were you:
1. I would update ALL my stuff (registration and dues and licensure with MLSCN and AMLSN).

2. I would immediately set in motion the process for registration with the UK HCPC.

3. I would study real hard during my Masters.

4. Biomedical Scientist jobs would be easy to land after studies.

Please how much should be total maintenance money (outside london) for a 2 year programme before applying for visa?

for instance tuition is £14k and one has made deposit of £4k. so I want to know the total money (upkeep + tuition balance) one should have before applying for visa.

Total maintenance fees you are required to show is 9 months, not the entire 2 years.

Insightful.

Am intending to do my Masters in Developmental and Therapeutic play as my background is in Psychotherapy and upon graduation next year, I will be licensed with the British Association of Play Therapists to work as a Child therapist using play... will this improve my chances of Tier 2 visa sponsorship?

Go to UK job sites such as CV Library, Indeed, Total jobs etc...
Look search for your dream Play Therapy Job.
Look very carefully at the desired attributes.
Have a checklist and see which of the requirements you surpass.
When you have satisfied yourself that your experience and qualification puts you in the 75th percentile of applicants, then you are Good to Go

NB: I saw this type of advise from someone on Nairaland, and I think it was a great advice.

House, please help clarify... In a situation where the wife is the primary applicant and the whole family intends travelling as dependents, can the funds be in the husband's account or is it better to provide the proof of funds with the primary applicant's (wife's) account?

It’s ‘theoretically-speaking’ not an issue.
However, as much as it is practically possible, I would transfer all the funds into the account of the Main Applicant.
