Tributes from family and friends have poured in for a Nigerian, Patrick Ohanta, 45, who was hit and killed by a car driven by a drunk driver while standing by the side of a kerb in Pineville, Louisiana.

According to friends who knew him, Patrick Ohanta popularly called “Pato” had arrive America only 6 weeks ago. He was an alumnus of the University of Ibadan and a keen footballer.

He had his promising life cut short in the auto accident while walking home from a job interview at about 5.20 PM.

Louisiana State Police Troop E and the Alexandria Police Department responded the accident that killed Patrick. APD believes impairment was a factor in one of the accidents.

Police say, Patrick was attempting to cross the Curtis-Coleman Bridge when he was struck by a vehicle driven by a 29 year-old man from Pineville. A preliminary investigation conducted by the APD shows the man drove onto the shoulder hitting Ohanta who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was taken into custody at the scene. He was booked into RPSO Jail and charged with driving while intoxicated – 4th offense, operating a vehicle while under suspension, reckless operation of a vehicle, and vehicular homicide.

A GoFundMe to support Patrick’s wife and family for the funeral has been opened.

APD is looking for witnesses who may have information about this incident. Call the Alexandria Police Department Traffic Division at (318) 441-6408.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

Bola Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos and presidential hopeful, has taken a swipe at Dapo Abiodun, governor of Ogun state.

Speaking on Thursday at a meeting with delegates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abeokuta, the Ogun capital, Tinubu said the APC did not want to give the governorship ticket to Abiodun in the build-up to the 2019 polls.

There was crisis in the APC prior to the 2019 elections over the refusal of Ibikunle Amosun, who was completing his second term as governor of Ogun at the time, to support Abiodun as his successor.

Amosun, who had supported another aspirant, was later suspended by the party.

Speaking on the circumstances surrounding the issue at the time, Tinubu said he did much to ensure the success of Abiodun at the polls.

“That one (referring to Abiodun) that is sitting down here, could he have become governor without me? We were all in the stadium where they tore all the posters. Even the candidacy of the party, they didn’t want to give it to him,” the APC chieftain said in Yoruba.

“It’s been over 25 years that I have been serving them. This one sitting at my back, Dapo, could he have become a governor if not for me?

“If he wants to hear, his life will be long. If he wants to meet God in his position, he would admit that he wouldn’t have become governor if not for God and I.”

A 19-year-old Akwa Ibom girl is currently in a bad state after she was brutalised by her alleged boyfriend in Ugboroke area
of Warri, Delta State.

It was gathered that the suspect identified as Patrick Fregene met the victim on the internet and invited her to Warri. Ever since then he turned her into a punching bag.

"He has been locking her indoor and beating her continuously without his neighbours knowing," a source narrated.

Demond who has 33 children from multiple baby mamas, did a photoshoot with his children and shared the photos on social media.

In the viral photos, he wore matching t-shirts and jeans with them. “The Legend” was boldly written on his shirt, while his children had “The Legacy” printed on theirs.

The proud father of thirty-three posted the photos and said his legacy will forever.

He also thanked his mother and many baby mamas for helping to take care of his kids. He also disclosed that nine of his kids were not available for the photoshoot.
