Don't even go there with me. I don't come to this forum to get on anyone's oko and definitely not yours.
I've been peaceful so far so please let me be. Infact let me spell that out for you

FALL BACK H A R D!!!!!

If you don't understand english, it's not my fault. Cause you clearly don't seem to understand that others are saying what Iyes said only in their own words.
I didn't see the need to be redundant. Almost everyone here agrees that marriage isn't only recognised when it takes place in a church.
So if you must find someone to take out your PMS stress on, please look past me cause I am not the one.

peace.

To respond to your claim of iyes as my boyfriend would mean you made sense!!! so am gonna leave that alone.

@ yemivictor

just so u know, below is the post i was agreeing with. last i checked it wasn't towards u.

Iyes wrote:

"As A Christian, I challenge anyone to show me where the requirement for marriage was stated as "blessing" by a priest or "man of God" in the Bible!

The issue is that over time, customs of people have crept into religion - and vice versa, such that where the custom is GLAMOROUS, it quickly and easily takes such a position that an average, or undeciphering public assumes it to be the correct thing.

My people, don't be deceived, the 3 ingredients of marriage are; 1.PARENTAL CONSENT (of the bride's family) which may or not be signified by a dowry, 2. WILLINGNESS OF THE 2 PARTIES (man and wife) and 3. witnesses to the agreement (which may not necessarily happen simultaneously). Once that is obtained/present, pronto, marriage is done deal, and recognised by GOD. The rest is human ceremony just to show off and belabour those involved.

It is unfortunate that we have exalted the "packaging" i.e. ceremonies (especially church service and reception, engagement, introduction etc) over and above the "core product" i.e. consent and willingness. To the extent that in many cases, those two elements are completely missing, and we still go ahead with the "wedding" and impose it on GOD.

It is not an omission that the Bible does not have a single account of a marriage where a priest presided or joined the couple!! Not even Jesus, he never superintended any wedding or ceremony. Remember, at Cana in Galilee, he was a guest at a wedding, he was not even invited to the high table, let alone conduct the wedding.

GOD is very simple and wants things the easiest way for us as his creatures, but the problem with us is that we have always found ways to complicate issues for ourselves, up to the point that it becomes excessively burdensome and sometimes unbearable for many others, up to the point that we push many to sin in the process. Consider how many have committed sins just to meet up with human standards of "marriage" such as high bride price, cost of rings and dresses/suits, white wedding expenses and receptions, honeymoons etc. while GOD's standard costs nothing, and demands next to nothing.

My brother, if you've done traditional wedding otherwise called engagement, YOU ARE BONA FIDE MARRIED. That has satisfied GOD's standard for marriage as you have fulfilled all righteousness. The 3 ingredients are complete; Bride's Parental Consent, Couple's Willingness, and Witnesses to the union's agreement. Go ahead and fire on, for you are married before the Almighty. Let no one shackle you unnecessarily.

No wonder Jesus says " my yoke is easy, and my burden is light", and who makes them "heavily laden"? The human society!

May GOD have mercy on us all. "

I have been in that position. My cousin and a former friend of mine slept together, but it was before I met him. He told me and so did she (eventually).
It's up to your brother to be man enough to realise that it happened before he got in the picture.

I am glad that I was told, but honestly I was even happier that my friend told me before my cousin. It showed I could trust him and everything was in the open.

So try to convince her to tell your brother, but seriously, it's not your place.
Let her be the one to tell.

go ahead and be foolish and kick him to the curb. it will be his motivation.
when he finishes, he'll find a woman who loves him unconditionally (with or without recharge card)

"Without meaning to denigrate anybody, i would like everybody on this forum to take about 30 minutes to read through the threads concerning this discussion, then you will find out why the educational system in Nigeria needs an overhaul. I don't think the standard of education in the UK or in the US is higher or even better than the one in Nigeria, but the governments here spend a lot on facilities and infrastructure, even on human capital development. Most people who live in the UK know that the government encourages teachers with first degree here to go for a highly subsidized 2nd degree, all these were also available during the golden age of Nigerian universities, i graduated from UI and my department alone had over 14 professors in a pool of about 20 lecturers with almost all those professors with foreign higher degrees at the expense of the federal government of Nigeria. I live in the UK presently, and i have the opportunity of interacting with a lot of academics and i would tell you that it is not so much the standard of education but the fact that facilities are very available that make the UK better than Nigeria, and the fact that thousands of Nigerian students pay a fortune to ensure that the British kids can get better facilities and better funding to study. Before anybody starts condemning the Nigerian educational system again, don't forget that every year, you still have students coming out of Nigerian universities and becoming the best students in the same UK universities you think are citadels of heaven."

Thanks. Straight to the point.

I wonder how people expect Nigeria to get better when they don't realise that policies like this will make it better.
Abroad universities have better research facilities because they're lecturers are researchers, researches come up with theory and they support it, their theory can be supported, hence more funding.
It's not only about the classroom. Point blank research pulls funding for schools. The more the funding, the better the infrastructure of the institutions.

To my understanding this has been going on for 20 years and it's now that it's really being pushed.

U know what amazes me?
We ask the government to hurry and now that they are we are complaining, LOL, is there no pleasing us?
If the lecturers cared they would have started working on it years ago, honestly on average it takes about 2-3 years to receive a Ph.D and last I recall there are Ph.D holders who aren't lecturers, what about them? I think this creates job opportunities too.

If the lecturers today don't obtain their Ph.Ds on time they can be lecturers but won't be held to the same esteem as before and those with PhDs can be recruited.

It's really not rocket science people, merely common sense (but then again, not everyone has that) lipsrsealed

"I am sorry if you feel I am selling Nigeria short but I can not deny what I lived first hand and have experienced over and over now. Yes, I did school in Nigeria and yes, many of the graduates fall short. Infact, I will go a step further and say that private high school students here are taught most the same things an undergraduate in Nigeria is spending time on. Case and Point a friend of mine who happened to be top of her class in one of the medical schools in Nigeria. On arriving here found it hard to catch up for to pass her USMLE. Why ?? The Teaching she got from medical school down there did not prepare her for the exam. I have cousins who instead of being taught how to use a computer are still dealing with DRAWING a computer, in primary 5.

Now if your claim is half true, are you going to then tell me that the reason more and more students go abroad to get an education is because they have thousands of dollars/pounds to waste??"

Like I said I do work for the department of education and I do deal with the university sector and trust me it's no comparison.

Am sorry that ur friend wasn't able to catch up easily, it may be that she did not prepare herself, yes u are given an education, however, if u do not study hard and take advantage of an education, it is ur fault (this is in no way to insult ur friend, just stating a fact)

I also schooled in Nigeria and so did my friends, upon arrival we found the school system boring, it wasn't challenging enough, I also encounter many Africans not just Nigerians who are bored with the system because they've encountered many of the lectures before.

And no people don't travel abroad to waste money on education, they travel because they THINK abroad has better education, and then when they get here, they see that the grass isn't greener on the other side.

I read this and I applaud it.
It's about time.

@Kobojunkie

it is mandatory for u to have a Ph.D to be a full lecturer in the U.S.
That's the problem my school is facing.
In the school of business some of our lecturers don't have their Ph.Ds and because of that they've been let go.
My school is a candidate to be accredited by AACSB (international) and they've already requested that all our professors have their Ph.Ds.
Those who wish to stay are working on their Ph.Ds right now.
If u don't have a Ph.D, u can still lecture but u won't get the same pay and would not be fulltime so u need to have another job elsewhere.

A problem that we've faced in our institutions in Naija is that not many of them are research institutions.
Ofcourse they cannot be research institutions if the professors cannot even formulate a theory.

If we want to compete with the rest of the worls academically and we want to pull bright students from all over the globe and gain recognition then this a step forward.
RomanceRe: Why Do Women Always Want To "Marry Up"? by Lady2(f): 11:01pm On Dec 13, 2007
First of all why r there leagues.
Marraige is not about marrying within ur league.

There is not a man on this earth who is above my league
It doesn't matter if he's the president.
He is not above me. We were both created by God.
It's not like God favours him over me or something, in marriage we are equal. We know our roles and we work together. I refuse to have a man look at me and tell me that I was poor before he met me and he made me somebody.
Oh hell no.
He won't see children from me, he will not eat my food, and he definitely will not sleep in my bed.
Basically, we won't be together. He can go and find the woman that is as shallow as him.

Ofcourse I don't want to marry a man who isn't able to provide for his family but to me there is no such thing as marrying up or down.

He can be a shoepolisher but as long as he's able to provide for his family and we can live comfortably, then I don't have a problem.

I have to agree with Oldie.
Sweetie there are bigger fishes to fry.

Not to rain on u.

Accountants get paid way less than their companies get paid from the contracts they have with their clients. For example Ernst & Young charges some clients $500.00 per hourbut pay their employees $35.00 per hour. But they pay quite weell. That's how businesses run.
You don't get the paid the same amount as the company.
If u do, then u won't have a bldg to work from or lights in ur bldg.
A lot goes into running a business.

U just sound disgruntled because u saw a high number and compared it to urs. What u should do is compare ur salary to other IT's in other corporations, if u feel cheated, leave the company for another one.

To me ur just making excuses
