Christianity EtcRe: Craze For Title! by lafile(m): 12:21pm On Jan 24, 2008
Anybody remember His Holiness The Most Honourable Rev Dr King?
Ever heard of 'Prophetic Pastor' So and So?
How about Superior Senior Evangelist?
I wonder when ordinary Pastor became inadequate.

And in addition why do so many pastors in Lagos find it neccesary to change their names? I have heard of one Rev. Dr. Sign Fireman. There is one Apostle Bethel too.
PoliticsRe: Is Ojukwu A Gen Or Lt. Col? by lafile(m): 1:48pm On Jan 23, 2008
darfur and maxsiollun have actually analysed this issue completely. Yes the Ibos were wronged. Yes the Ibos were provoked. Profoundly so. Yes at that time (1967) seccesion seemed like the best option. However, time has told us Ojukwu (and his cabinet) were wronged. There was no way he could have won the war. A leader would have unemotionally looked at the situation and bidded his time. War was not the ebst option. He should nahe played the international politics better. He could have forced Nigeria into a loose federation that would have favoured everybody. There would have been no need for all this Niger Delta agitations and militants. He would have gained the respect of all Nigerians and not just some Ibo people (and Frederick Forsyth)
This doesnt take away from the man. He was a brilliant soldier. A charismatic leader.
And (back to the topic) diplomacy demands he be addressed as General whether he was a general in the Nigerian Army or not. The General Lee Example suffices. Lee was not a General in the Union (United States of America) army but Everybody addresses him as General Lee. Ojukwu should be addressed as General.

Christianity EtcHas The Most Honourable Rev Dr King Been Released? by lafile(op): 1:49pm On Jan 17, 2008
I have noticed a lot of posters on the streets and highways of Lagos in the past few days announcing one Anointing for the New Year Night Vigil with pictures of His Holiness, The Most Honourable Rev Dr King. Has the guy been quietly released from death row behind our back? Or are they using faith to announce the program?
FamilyRe: Sleeping Position On Bed Threatens Marriage! by lafile(m): 2:29pm On Jan 16, 2008
Its not a new thing o. I'm sure it has happened in many homes.
When we first got married, we had a bed with space at each end. My wife wanted the side close to the door. Me i disagreed saying since it was the vantage point for security (whatever that meant) i should have it. after her lobby, i sha agreed. One year ago, we got a bigger bed with her side now by the wall withy no space. Now she wants my side. Me I say "lai lai! you wanted that side now u have it". But i know if she puts small pressure sha she will get my side.

Its just psychological. Doesnt really matter what side you sleep on. Whatever it costs, keep peace in the home.

Christianity EtcRe: Sex: An Enigmatic Subject? by lafile(m): 9:04am On Jan 10, 2008
Sex IS an important topic that should be discussed. It will always be discussed. The context (and circumstances) within which it is discussed is what matters. despite the trivialisation and perversion of sex in todays world, sex still remains private to most people. I can stand discussions on sex when the intention is good like education, admonition, advise etc. Not when unnecesary details are inputed or when it is told as a joke. But i dont believe people married or unmarried should shy away from the topic. It is very difficult to be fulfilld in marriage without an understanding of sex.
As far as initials go I fall into VR

You can imagine what will happen ,if someone is facing north and am facing east while praying.

Christianity EtcRe: What's Wrong With Marrying Someone Of A Different Denomination? by lafile(m): 3:29pm On Jan 04, 2008
Religion is important in Relationship and Marriage. Most people do not understand that marriage is as much a spiritual union as it is physical. You can have an eternal union with someone who has different spiritual views from yours. It just wont work. A Christian who believes Jesus is the only way to God cannot marry a Bhuddist who believes something else or a Muslim who believes that Jesus was just a prophet. It just wont work.

However denomination isn't that important as long as your fundamental beliefs are the same. A Christian who believes in God and the concept of Trinity, who believes in the redemptive work of Christ on the cross of calvary and a future in Heaven can marry any other christian with the same beliefs. I know so many. I know friends from Redeemed who have married people from denominations as diverse as deeper life, house on the rock, daystar and rhema.

@ Poster.
So you would have been happier if International Observers had used the same harsh words used on Nigeria on Kenya. In other words you just dont want Nigeria to occupy that position of Infamy alone abi? The bottom line is Nigeria (Like Kenya) had elections that would make the word 'democracy' sound insulting.
Imagine! we are fighting for other countries to be called 'shit' like we were called.

Why don't we extend your logic on benz and Corrolla a little further. Instead of buying a Corolla why not get a Kia Picanto. Its Cheaper. Or Why not a motorbike. Its cheaper and you can still move around. Or a bicycle. Why not just walk.
Christianity EtcRe: Redeemed Church Opens World's Biggest Auditorium, Costs N7.7b by lafile(m): 10:03am On Dec 21, 2007
Quote from Mr. Pataki
I only speak based on my understanding of the bible and the life Jesus lived. When Jesus had 5000 men with him on the mount, he fed them for free!. He did not think of building an auditorium to comfortably sit them in.  There are already auditoriums across the nation which can be easily used for any religious activity. Rather each church wants its own share of I have the biggest auditorium in the country.

I have not seen where Christians are gathering here in Nigeria and they are all fed with food accordingly after the message. Most especially when they come in their thousands. Jesus understood the people were not hungry for an auditorium after speaking the words of the the Father but rather they wanted food. Many people will go to that auditorium with hunger in their stomach, only to go back home the more frustrated.

First, there is really no auditorium big enough to hold the crowd that comes to the Redeemed camp. Thats why a new auditorium was built in the first place. Its not about everybody having their own auditorium; its about meeting a practical need.

Secondly, during the convention of the Redeemed Church I know EVERYBODY that comes gets fed. Everybody. except if you do not want.

Christianity EtcRe: Redeemed Church Opens World's Biggest Auditorium, Costs N7.7b by lafile(m): 9:21am On Dec 18, 2007
Debosky (Like some other objective commentators) have written a sensible post. He clearly delineated the core issues people have against the building. 1. The money is too much 2. The building is too large.

The fact still remains that the building is neccesary. Anybody that has been to the place will tell you the building is neccesary. And with the way things are going there might be a need for expansion in say 2-3 years. Thats why the auditorium has no walls. Just roof and floor. And if a building of this size is neccesary can we then begin to calculate how much it might cost? And if its truly N7.7b, how can we then say it is waste of money? The church is using her money to build do something that is neccesary. Wetin come be the wahala?

Christianity EtcRe: Redeemed Church Opens World's Biggest Auditorium, Costs N7.7b by lafile(m): 10:55am On Dec 14, 2007
Thanks Runsaway. Without taking a minute to look at the situation that brought about the auditorium, they just hear N7b and 'largest auditorium' and their minds translated it to mean one large luxurious cathedral. When they get there they will be shocked at the simplicity of the place. Just has the bare neccecities. And by the time they do some calculations like you did, they'll realise their mistakes. Some already have and haven't posted anything again.
Christianity EtcRe: Redeemed Church Opens World's Biggest Auditorium, Costs N7.7b by lafile(m): 10:18am On Dec 12, 2007
@ Realkemmy
The Auditorium is in Nigeria

@Texazzpete
"At the very least, building such a magnificent edifice is misguided. we can already see redeemed members here proudly remarking that they have the biggest auditorium in the world"

Don't go around with a mindset of a "magnificent edifice" in the mould of St. Peters Bassilica. Like i said, it is just roof and floor. The bare neccesities to accomodate people during a meeting. Simple. And if it is the biggest auditorium in the world its because of neccesity. Obviously the largest auditorium will be needed to accomodate the largest gathering. Its common sense.
Christianity EtcRe: Redeemed Church Opens World's Biggest Auditorium, Costs N7.7b by lafile(m): 8:52am On Dec 12, 2007
This topic was only started yesterday and already 3 pages. Me, I'm just seeing it.
I think a lot of things have to be put into perspective since most of the contributors seem to be from outside Nigeria and have a few things mixed up.
First, the auditorium being talked about is not as much an auditorium as a structure with roof and floor. It is not a cathedral with walls, cushioned seats and air conditioning. The wind blows in and people sit on plastic chairs and wooden benches.I dont think it was about 'showing off' with one luxurious house of worship. It is anything but luxurious.
Second, the auditorium came up to meet a need. During redeemed programmes, Hundreds of thousands of people have no place to sit because the auditorium meant to sit Hundreds of thousands of people is full before the program starts. Lots of people have to sit in their cars throughout these programmes.
Third, That a huge amount was spent doesnt mean the church is not socially responsible. There are scholarships for thousands of people every year. That these things are not announced on TV as people expect doesnt mean it is not happening.
Finally, the traffic on the expressway is unfortunate. However, when you have some 600,000 people leaving a place at the same time, all leaving thru one expressway, theres just so much that can be done. It has nothing to do with parking space. There is adequate parking space. Imagine 50-60,000 cars crossing one expressway at the same time. its a logistics nightmare.
