Christianity EtcRe: The Holy Grail? (Grail Message) by lafile(m): 4:34pm On Dec 10, 2007
It’s so funny. People come up to say the bible is not correct or complete. That it has been changed. That the original message Jesus brought has either been lost or adulterated. Yet they show no proof. There is no shred of evidence anywhere at anytime to substantiate these claims. Then they come up with another ‘message’ claiming it as the final and most complete work of God. They take the part of the bible that is acceptable to their proud and arrogant minds add some philosophy, some logic and proclaim a final work. Any other part of the bible that is unacceptable to them they discard as forgeries or human additions. What’s to stop me from taking bits and pieces from the bible (those bits and pieces in agreement with my ego) putting it together with some mumbo jumbo from Freud and coming up with another new age religion? Let’s face it I WILL GET FOLLOWERS because there are definitely people with the same mind set as me. People with ego like me.
But Jesus Christ proclaimed that we have to accept Him with childlike minds for us to enter the Kingdom of God. He hasn’t changed his mind. He never will.
Christianity EtcRe: The Holy Grail? (Grail Message) by lafile(m): 3:54pm On Dec 10, 2007
Quote From Hnd_Holder
"The Grail Message stands absolutely on the ground of Christ's teaching. It merely takes into consideration the fact that the man of today has so trained his intellectual thinking, has so keenly sharpened his instruments for thinking, that the childlike simple belief which Jesus demanded at that time no Longer suffices for him to be able to follow the way to God. For that reason the Grail Message explains Christ's teaching in a language adapted to man's present way of thinking."

I beg to differ. The 'childlike simple belief' that Jesus demanded suffices for a lot of people. Its that humility to accept Jesus at His word that is called faith.
Christianity EtcRe: Which One Of The Prophets In History Did Not Submit To God, Hence Not A Muslim? by lafile(m): 3:03pm On Dec 06, 2007
Bros Olabowale.
Oluchia:
I thought I was the only one who came to that conclusion too after reading the post above.
@Olabowale, over to you, please can you explain that? huh
You didn't answer the assertion made by Oluchia and Davidylan. Now if I May, let me outline what you said.
You said "That quality in Adam, is a quality of a prophet, a Muslim."
What are the Qualities? You stated them. They are:
1. "He was the first of mankind to sin and he was the first to ask for forgiveness."
2. He had a "hope that God is Merciful and will accept repentance and therefore forgives His Slave Servants"
3. He was "not too proud to seek His Mercy"
4. He was "not too timid that he sets up intercessor between himself and the Creator."
Note: All the statements in quote were from you.

Since these above qualities were what made Adam a prophet, it is safe to infere that anybody that has these qualities can be identified as a prophet.

Consequently, since you said "All Muslims follow the tradition of seeking forgiveness, with hope that God is Merciful and will accept repentance and therefore forgives His Slave Servants who is not too proud to seek His Mercy. And not too timid that he sets up intercessor between himself and the Creator." It therefore means that all Muslims are Prophets. QED.

Any Rebuttals?

Christianity EtcRe: Get Your Favorite Carol Songs Here by lafile(m): 11:06am On Dec 06, 2007
Yeah!!!! You didn't include my favorite carol

O HOLY NIGHT
(J. S. Dwight & A. C. Adam, 19th Century)

O holy night,
The stars are brightly shining;
It is the night of
Our dear Savior's birth!
Long lay the world
In sin and error pining,
Till He appeared
And the soul felt its worth.
A thrill of hope,
The weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks
A new and glorious morn.
Fall on your knees,
O hear the angel voices!
O night divine,
O night when Christ was born!
O night divine, O night,
O night divine!

Led by the light of Faith
Serenely beaming,
With glowing hearts
By His cradle we stand.
So led by light of a star
Sweetly gleaming,
Here came the wise men
From Orient land.
The King of Kings lay thus
In lowly manger,
In all our trials
Born to be our Friend!
He knows our need,
To our weakness no stranger;
Behold your King!
Before the lowly bend!
Behold your King! your King!
Before Him bend.

Truly He taught us
To love one another;
His law is love and
His gospel is peace.
Chains shall He break
For the slave is our brother
And in His name
All oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in
Grateful chorus raise we,
Let all within us
Praise His holy name!
Christ is the Lord,
Oh praise His name forever,
His pow'r and glory evermore proclaim
His pow'r and glory
Evermore proclaim.
Christianity EtcRe: Bible Accounts That Suggest Reincarnation. by lafile(m): 10:06am On Dec 06, 2007
@ Justcool
Let me state my case very clearly.
Re-Incarnation from the christian point of view makes no sense. Why? Because there is no reason for it. The only reason for re-incarnation would be so that man can find spiritual enlightenment and therefore salvation. However, for the christian faith, man cannot save himself. Salvation doesn't come by the works of man but by the blood of Christ. Why should i keep dying just to do what i caanot do myself?

There is not one verse in the bible that remotely alludes to a christian belief in re-Incarnation. Not one. Its not a matter of whether it was elaborated or not. It was not mentioned. The verse in Matthew about John the Baptist and Elijah does not suggest re-Incarnation. It was only talking about the similarity in the mission of both men. In fact none of the verses suggested by the poster relates to re-incarnation when viewed from a christian outlook.
See http://www.comparativereligion.com/reincarnation3.html

I dont want to repeat myself again, but i guess i have to. Gnostics were not Christian. The fundamental belief of Christianity (That Jesus is the ONLY way to God) was not held by Gnostics. So what makes them Christians? Because they call themselves so? Please! I Think Kobojunkie gave a perfect definition for Gnostics. For Emphasis sake let me repeat it here. "Gnosticism is a philosophical and religious movement with roots in pre-Christian times. Gnostics combined elements taken from Asian, Babylonian, Egyptian, Greek and Syrian pagan religions, from astrology, and from Judaism and Christianity."

@All
Why does everybody (Muslims, Cross Bearers(Grail Messengers) etc) want to force their beliefs into the bible? Why do they want to authenticate their faith from the bible? Is it because the recognise the Power behind the Word of God? I dont care about what is in any other book. I dont search for truth in any other book. I have found the TRUTH, The WHOLE TRUTH and NOTHING but the TRUTH in the Bible.
Christianity EtcRe: Bible Accounts That Suggest Reincarnation. by lafile(m): 2:35pm On Dec 05, 2007
@Justcool
Thanks for your reply.
I read thru quite a bit of informationon the first council of nicaea. None of us was there so none of us can categorically say what was discussed. However, to say that all references to re-incarnation were expunged from the new testament at the council of nicaea, is beyond my understanding. Theres nothing in the nicaean creed or reports and writings concerning the council that alludes to that.

Re-Incarnation is not alien to anybody - christian or not.
However to say it was at anytime a christian doctrine is wrong. Gnostics were at no time a christian sect. Paul wrote against them many times. That they accepted re-incarnation does not make it a christian doctrine.
Christianity EtcRe: Bible Accounts That Suggest Reincarnation. by lafile(m): 10:43am On Dec 04, 2007
Dorcasde said:
In A.D. 325 the Roman emperor Constantine the Great and Helena, his mother, erased references to reincarnation in the New Testament
And Justcool replied:
Dorcasde is right about the council of Constantinople. You can also research on the Council of Nicea 325 AD.

The Council of Nicaea was called primarily for one reason and one reason only.
Arius a priest in Alexandria was propagating a doctrine that denied the deity of Jesus. His writings were very popular and was gaining ground. This was contrary to what Christians believed and took 'for granted' - That Jesus was the same as the Father i.e. God. The controversy dragged on for long until finally all bishops were invited to Nicaea a central place in what is today Turkey to deliberate. After discussions and reading from Arius' writing, a vote was taken. Only two people voted for Arius. After the Arian Controversy was resolved, the bishops took the opportunity to take decisions on some other minor issues non of which bothered on doctrine.
NO WHERE WAS A DECISION TAKEN TO AMMEND THE NEW TESTAMENT TO DENY RE-INCARNATION. The Books of the New testament was already wide spread all over Asia Minor and East/Central Europe. There was no way ammendments could be made.

Because people (mention was made of Gnostics) believed in Re-Incarnation doesnt make it true. Gnostics believed that matter was inherently evil and spirit inherently good. It doesn't mean its true.

Christianity EtcRe: Why Did Jesus Come To Earth? by lafile(m): 8:49am On Nov 21, 2007
Dorcasde:
This does not mean, however, that the personal guilt of every individual is therefore remitted at a moment’s notice, as soon as he really believes in and lives according to the works of Jesus.
Dorcasde:
King James Version; Acts 10: 34-35………Then Peter opened his mouth, and said. Of a truth I perceive that GOD is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with HIM.
………same as
"Truly I perceive that God shows no partiality, but in every nation any one who fears Him and does what is right is acceptable to Him."
.

My dear Dorcasde, You should have read that chapter a little further.
Acts 10:43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

Peter Couldn't have been contradicting himself now, could he?

TV/MoviesRe: Celebrity Takes Two: New Dance Reality Show (Sponsor: Skyebank) by lafile(m): 12:46pm On Nov 19, 2007
Pasuma - This guys a laff. There's Fuji in every step he takes. Kai! He's Latin dances have been awful - for want of a worse word. But i want him to stay. His entertainment quality is wow! I look forward to him cos no matter how the dance is one thing I know is I’ll laff. And i love his partner. She knows he sucks, but she hangs on to him anyway.

Noremoloss - Segun Lawal is right. Just looking at him, you expect so much more. You just know its there - but he never delivers. He's never confident. Always stealing a glance at his partner before making a move. Won’t be surprised if he follows kunle afolayan out.

Sound Sultan - Cool dancing. I mean the guy is an entertainer. It doesn’t seem fair to place him in the same field with say tara durotoye. So for that reason he should be judged harder. This means he’s not there yet.

Zizi Cardow - She has impressed me the most. Watching her you wouldn’t remember she's not a young woman. I just wonder how she would have been when she was young. Man, she giving these kids a run for their money. Anytime, any day I will watch her dance. Ok, maybe she bit off more than she could chew with the hip hop yesterday, but man those Latin dances where in her blood. You’ll think she was born in Puerto Rico

Omotola - Omo kini? In another life (and certainly another body) she would have been a wonderful dancer. Not this one. Anyway, she's a mother of four and it shows. She almost tripped her partner twice in the tango last week. Won’t be long before she's dropped. Only problem be say her Nollywood fans won’t let her go.

Funlola - Great. Wonderful. Fantastic. These are words I’d like to use, but honestly cant. Like Noremoloss she promises a lot. She does deliver sometimes, but tends to inconsistencies.

Bryan - Now that’s my guy. Makes this thing look easy. He's got all it takes to be a professional dancer. Never been a dance he did I didn’t enjoy. He even makes his instructor look good.

Omowunmi - My fave! She’s good. Looks like she was dancing from the womb. She does impossible things on the dance floor. Did u see the hip hop yesterday? Wow! Even segun had to comment on the difficulty of the steps they did. I'll probably cry if she doesn’t win.

Judges - Segun Okay. Boulos Ok. That 'Olorioko' guy? Chei! “Fery nice. Fery nice. I gif you a tiri". I think there should be a way to make the judges scores count during eviction. If not, Pasuma will just go to mushin to get all awon boys to vote. Or worse, Omotola will just do one movie and give it free to anyone that votes for her.

All in all sha i dey enjoy the show.

Christianity EtcRe: I'm Afraid Of Being Born Again by lafile(m): 10:51am On Nov 16, 2007
my guy i was in the same shoes as u. Music, especially Hip Hop was my life. I knew every word from Snoops doggy style album. I cried when tupac died. I was one of the first people to play DMX on campus. I was that into it. I loved the groove. I loved the chiks. I loved the hanging out. loved the late nites on campus. but i also knew my lifestyle was wrong. I had grown up within the christian community and lots of bible had stuck. I knew what i had to do. I had to live my life for God. I had to forsake all the things i enjoyed. But i seriously couldnt believe there was any better substitute in christianity that could take the place of my groove.
But thank God for his grace. during one of those strikes just sitting at home i just couldnt run away from the fact that my life was empty. Away from my friends God got my attention and i realised how lost i was. I looked back at my friends, and realised how much valuable time i was wasting with them. I looked at the songs and realised what damage they were doing to my soul. One in particular shocked me. In one of DMX's songs (Let me fly) he said "I sold my soul to the devil and the price was cheap". I had said those words a thousand times and never realised what it meant. And by Gods grace, i surrendered my all to God (for the final time) and have never looked back.
And now i'm having more fun than i've ever had. I have more music now than i had then. Music that i really truly enjoy. Trust me there's christian music with real groove. real hip hop. Ever heard of KJ-52?
Now I'm married to the most wonderful woman in the world. And i would not have met her if i was still living my old lifestyle.
Sin is a bondage. ANything u cannot willingly leave, has become ur master. Dont be a slave to sin. What u see ans enjoyment right now is actually bondage. If its not bondage u will be able to leave it.

God bless u. Hope this helps.
