houvest:
The Army is not the first organisation to handle internal security. They come in when the Police fail. Now the Police is out of the equation. I hope the Army uses so much intelligence to succeed as they did in Aba. Their failure against MEND and in Jos was mainly because of so much reliance on brawn instead of intelligence. Ihejirika should build on the successes he has recorded since he came in got mainly through his emphasis on training, retraining, specialised units and intelligence. I hope he succeeds now the police has failed. This is his biggest test.
Our Security Agencies have been bastardized since the military era of IBB rather than focus on issues of National Security, they were used as private body guards, debt collectors and drive-by assassins. The Police did not fare better too, what about the Navy who patrol our seas, they continue to protect bunkering activities on a daily basis, remember the disappearing Oil tanker grin We have neglected Security for soooo long, it has come to bite us in the behind with a vengeance. Kidnappers will move Kwara state council mean from the north to Warri by road and not one checkpoint detected anything, Assassins will walk into a top politicians bedroom and strangle him to death and the Police do not have a clue, heck they have not solved a lot of crimes since the past 10 years, Bola Ige, Funso Williams, Elegbede, Omotehinwa, Bola Ahmed Tinubu grin just to mention a few. The Army and Police are plagued by worse diseases than lack of Intelligence gathering structures. Ethnic polarization,Poverty and Indiscipline has made sure that the worst performance

Walmart is too smart to open up in mend or boko-haram infested areas. they had better open up competition in Lagos the most populated, buoyant city in Nigeria

Thanks for this post - enlightenment is the first key to a successful revolution. Nigerians are docile because they lack enlightenment, those that are enlightened are so few and a revolution needs overwhelming numbers - awareness is a good start

No need for that. The 1-eyed Oracle of Bourdillion is like a Hungry Tiger resting in a shade, his playful tail hides his true nature. Politics › Re: Army: Boko Haram Tactics, Strange To Us by lagerwhenindoubt(m): 3:44pm On Jun 29, 2011
Nigerian Army is indeed a strange animal -
WTF is so strange about;
1: A group of armed violent-looking people walking the streets at night killing people at drinking bars
2: A group of people located in a recognizable community in a recognized state of the federal republic of nigeria
3: A group of people delivering explosives via hand or hidden in areas with high human-traffic

By know the over-bloated, tribalistic Directorate of Military Intelligence should have a list of high risk areas that Boko Haram are likely to hit,how they operate and what their "REAL" agenda is. for pete's Sake they are not that organized in the first place

Family › Re: Is It True That Ladies From Broken Homes Are Not A Good Wife Material? by lagerwhenindoubt(m): 7:35pm On Jun 28, 2011
I think it is important to take away sentiments and emotions when analyzing such issues especially when it comes to Marriage and Up-bringing. You are right to assume that coming from a broken home affects the female-child in a negative way, what you cannot determine is whether the girl-child has risen above her parental difficulties to become  strong, independent-willed woman. there are many women from broken homes holding up well in successful marriages and training their children with the benefit of hindsight - There are lots of news about women from good homes and stable families who have turned out horribly wrong.

It is all dependent on the individual, you can let a broken home affect  your psychology to the point that it becomes detrimental or you can rise above the trauma and be somebody.

He never puts thought into his words and when the foul-smelling garbage comes out, he sniffs it up with pride as if he has said anything of great import angry unfortunately he is just like the rest of our incompetent leaders who felt security was never an issue, now we have the full complement of Directorate of Military Intelligence, SSS and The Nigerian Police and none of this comatose elephants have the slightest idea of how to tackle this situation

funny user name-thanks for the info, would you advice me to buy that car? does it give wahala easily and i was looking to get 2001 model can i get it at same price?
The Babyboy is a very popular Honda brand since the Honda Pure-water broke into the Nigerian Market.

I bought one in 2005 for N1.2M and sold it in 2008 for N750k and it was Nigerian-Registered and had 104 thousand Km on the Mileage when i bought it. To be very honest I never took it to the mechanic except for Servicing. I think I posted it here on nairaland for sale shocked but nobody was interested. The Hausa guy who bought it spent N30k to fix the ball-joints and replace the shocks, guess what. he took it to Kaduna and re-sold it for N1.1M grin

The Car will give you joy as long as you regularly service it and treat it well. parts are not expensive except you are dealing with the 2001/2002 version in which case the transmission is a whole lot costlier than the 1999. I once drove through a Flood and My transmission started misbehaving. Thank God for good Samaritans. after pricing a tokunbo transmission, a fellow customer and Honda user noticed that my Transmission Fluid was short. Since I bought the car i never knew where the transmission fluid inlet was. (hidden between the engine body and some plastic pipes) so i never bothered to fill it up. If you see a good bargain, go for it. I don't know what prices they go for now, but since the Hausas have adopted the Babyboy as their national car you bet the prices will go up (and stay there)

The only reason why it you should inform him is because that ABORTION might have long term implication.

I know a couple in my church married and child for ten years and this woman never confessed  she had a bad womb due the abortion.

Until the husband insist they go for  comprehensive medical test.
Sometimes (Most times) it is not about how good the food looks but how well you enjoyed the meal. No one is perfect if an abortion in the past is a threat to marriage then guys should be penalized for having multiple sex partners and not using condoms  angry Marriage is not the sum of the past but the sum of the present. The girl should be able to come clean (with or without fear) and say this happened in my past. please forgive me and look past it. If the guy refuses then he is better off with a girl who looks clean from all appearances but turns into a lusty tiger the minute he is out of town. Jeez i don't understand women these days. leave the couple to themselves. it is their future not yours. i bet you will sooner start interfering when they get over this bump.  angry

Business › Re: Chinese Business Community In Nigeria by lagerwhenindoubt(m): 3:31pm On Jun 26, 2011
@posters, you are all worried about commodities, what about human capital. for over 2+ years i have been trying to build a small home at Agbara and my building contractor+architect and his band of local merry yoruba workmen have been giving me excuses for delays from Rain destroyed the cement, or omonile's stole the metal fence components to malaria sick workmen. It took the will of steel to sack them and appoint a Lebanese who is into construction and in less than 6 months I am at lintel level. He brought a whole lot of Chinese workmen from Ikorodu and you won't believe the quality of their work, absolutely brilliant. I did not pay nearly as much as I paid my yoruba contractor. The Chinese are also taking teh non-skilled work from un-serious bunch of artisans we have in abundance and for cheap too.

Nigeria needs China so badly it is becoming an addiction - from Textiles, Generators, Electronics, Toothpicks and Slippers. we do not have the mettle to produce quality commodities for export so why complain when we get cheap imports huh
