It took the catholic Church thousands of years to recognize and condemn paedophilia!

It was only recently that Pentecostal churches like RCCG, Mountain of fire, Convenant, e.t.c decided to accept that "God" (The Father of Christ) has a "real and personal name" - Jehovah!
They use to call him God/Lord in all their prayers and refrain from calling his real name! grin

Not until recently did Christians and MOG's begin to accept that 'Christmas' was not actually a celebration of the birth Of Christ as He was never born on December 25th nor in December at all (Winter Period! shocked )

Just like the "sheeples" were reluctant to accept "the truth" in those issues above, so are they today in accepting that over-preaching of Tithe is just a con-man's trade! wink

I am sure, with time, these our Tithe-muzzling MOG's will come to accept that Tithe is not a requirement for Salvation nor to be blessed by God.

Let us just remain vigilant, no need to quarrel.

But blessed are those who have seen the 'light' and are unrelentlessly trying to help others see the light, in what God requires of us.

Its a shame that people of this generation find it difficult to READ & UNDERSTAND a write-up that is less than two pages!

How then can they read Novels, Magazines, Newspapers and not to mention even their Bibles? ...And we say the standard of education is falling in Nigeria, huh?

Back in those days, l remember l use to read Novels like James Hardley Chase, in less than 36 hrs (l still have to make out time to go to school and do normal household chores in-between).
I implore our younger ones to take a pause, take time to "read and assimilate".... and talk/chat less! The more you read (and assimilate), the more your repository of knowledge increases.

You just cant give what you dont have inside you... and the best way o "have it" is to 'assimilate' it by reading-up.
Even if you can 'Google it', you still have to read-up the web pages now, right?

Or are you people suffering from that medical term referred to as "Attention Deficit Disorder"?

Moreso, there are things that have a fundamental effect on your life, things that can change your life, your thinking and your relationship with others.
Pay attention to such things (like your relationship with God, whatever God you serve or proclaim, that is) and learn to "research/read-up" about them.
God will give una wisdom o!

cramjones: I have read this book and the previous book the author wrote. It is a thing of pride to know that Nigerians excel in every endeavor all over the world not just the United States. That said, while I agree with the cultural aspects the author pointed out, I make bold to say that those factors only contributed probably about 50% of what makes Nigerians successful.

Nigerians that come to the United States are self-selected. They are often times among the best and the most resilient Nigerians. They had to take exams, win scholarships, verify their transcripts, get great GPAs from their Nigerian Universities to make it to the US, and even then, had to go through a visa interview that even further accesses their potential to succeed in the US etc. They are those that naturally seek for excellence and since their inept government created an environment were this excellence remains herculean at best to achieve, they go on to seek it in other climes where talents and potentials can be explored and developed. These Nigerians ultimately excel and become successful in the United States. This to me is what make Nigerians successful.

My dream is to have a Nigeria where these talents can find a space to come back to Nigeria to build our country from the ruins of the GEJ and other previous administrations. [s]We have a chance, We have APC! Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria[/s]

Education › Re: Hnd Is Equivalent To A Bsc by lastpage: 5:02pm On Dec 30, 2013
Let me "chip-in" on this arguement:

EQUALITY and EQUIVALENCE?
Equality means "same".
Equivalence means you can substitute one for the other.

So, w.r.t. HND and B.Sc, can you "substitute" an HND graduate (same discipline) to do the work of a B.Sc graduate? (l like the Airforce Squadron Leader Vs. Army major analogy! grin )
The answer is a big NO. I will justify that position shortly.

As regards "equality" we can look at it/analyse it from the perspective of "equality of all academic processes leading to the award of both degrees":

1.) Instructors: Since it is the "lecturers" that create the eventual HND/BSc degree holders through 'teaching', l consider the "quality of the instructors", most important, in such scenario.
Now, in Universities, a Doctorate Degree holder is a "junior lecturer". Most substantive lecturers are either long-term PhD holders or Professors.
In a Polytechnic, most lecturers are Masters degree holders, the very few PhD holders amongst them are either Rectors or Departmental Heads. Professors are very very rare, if you would find one at all!
So, in terms of quality of lecturers, Polys are way behind and are not equal to Universities and therefore CANNOT BE EQUIVALENT!

2.) Infrastructures: You need "physical structures" to create a conducive learning environment for optimum learning. I wont say much on this, just go around our "major" Universities and Polys and you would not waste time to conclude that the "product of such environments" can ever be equal nor equivalent.

3.) Curriculum design: This is another very important difference between Universities and Polys.
For a "complete product life-cycle", you need DESIGNERS AND MANUFACTURERS.
These two stages of a product are completely different.
Uni graduates are geared/trained for "design" purposes while Poly graduates are geared for manufacturing purposes and this is reflected in their curriculum. I will give at least two examples to buttress this.

Take a vehicle for example. Most University "Engineering" lecturers cannot even service their own vehicle (they take them to artisans/mechanics! shocked ). Why is this? The reason is that their training is based on "Design concept". It is theoretically based for "research and development" .... all theoretical!
Practical experience is limited but this is deliberate and "advancement in science" is based squarely on research, which is what a University graduate is trained for.
A Poly graduate of the same field on the other hand, is trained for "manufacture" of the product designed by his University counterpart. He is very much "practical oriented" and does the "dirty job"! wink Where and while his University counterpart cannot "convert research" into "real life product", he is able to bring such design concept to life through "physical actions".
He can go under the hood and repair that same vehicle his Uni counterpart cannot repair .... but he cant design the same vehicle or improve on the design, to produce newer and more efficient model, like his Uni counterpart can easily do.

But at the end of the day, both Uni Graduates and Poly graduates are (supposed to be) doing a COMPLEMENTARY ROLE in the business environment.

Another example is that of the building occupation.
A University trained Architect will design a building or project but he does not necessarily need to know how to hold a spade or trowel.
His emphasis is on structural stability, aesthetics, functionality, wind tunnel-testing and adjustment, e.t.c.
Having done his design on paper, he passes the work unto his Poly counterpart.

His Poly mate will now take that "paper design" and make a "real building" out of it by bringing blocks, mortars and iron into a combination that springs-up a building. A Poly graduate cant actually do the design and where he attempts it, it is always very poor.

Now, l guess l wont be the only one who had noticed the difference in "finesse" between a Poly graduate and a University graduate?
It is because you cant expect someone who was trained with "practical" in mind, to be equivalent or the same as someone who was trained with "theory" in mind.
Even their spoken English would easily give them out as l have had reason over the years to interview both graduates at various levels of employment and l can tell you, spoken English is the first thing that gives them out.

I appreciate both of them and will never substitute a University graduate (no matter how good he thinks he is) for jobs/positions that l know are best suited for a Poly graduate ... and vice versa.
Their roles are COMPLEMENTARY, not equal and not equivalent.

Decryptor: It's the trend in checkpoints. I remember one day when i was in a public transport in Abuja and we met a checkpoint, the guy in the front seat was just chattering like a hummingbird on his phone and the soldier ordered us to park.
He just collected the phone, removed the battery and dropped the phone on the ground and smashed it with the butt of his rifle both front and back till the phone was in bits and pieces and then handed the phone back to the guy and told us to continue our journey. And it was even a BB. The guy nearly cry.
Those soldiers no dey play o
And you think this should be the reaction of a sensible and civilized humabeing?

From your post, the guy was not even aware of doing anything wrong!

I would assume anyone with any small grain of sense, as opposed to a complete "animal in human skin" (respects to Fela Anikulapo Kuti), would collect the phone, admonish the man not to always end his calls when approaching a check point because of the fear of being suspected of being used to activate an IED and return it after switching it off, to the owner?

But such "men of low value and low dignity" have to prove he is armed .....and the other fella is not.
he has to smash the phone and grind it to powder .... just to prove and massage his own "power-drunken ego".

I tell you, it is only cowards who "muscle-around town bullying weaker people".

One of the most gentle humans l have ever crossed in my life is a triple-black-belt Judoka who trains the military. Even when conducted cheated him out of his change all he did was "shout at him and call him theif", when he could have crushed the conductor ....like that Stewpid soldier!

These is what happens when at times, you saddle Eediots with work that involves a high level of INTELLIGENCE!

Its like saying the more you hit your child, the better the child will turn out in life! Its a farce, a very big lie!!!

If a "civilian" contravenes the law, there is a mechanism in place for dealing with such person, under the law: You arrest the civilian, hand him/her over to the Police who in-turn should charge the person to court, before a competent judge, under relevant section of the law contravened.

I am not a Lawyer but let me ask: Which section of the law abolishes the use of a cellphone, close or at a Military checkpoint?
'Cos l hear all of ya saying "it an offence, ..its a law,...its an order, ...its a rule, ....."

While common sense may dictate that in areas or location where security is an issue, one should be careful with such practice,
whatever is NOT PROHIBITED BY/IN LAW, is NOT AN OFFENCE!.

It wont be out of place "if" they broadcast it on radio and sensitive the populace using posters that they should not use their phone near a check-point for 1, 2, 3, reasons. That is how "rulers" with a small bit of sense do, not just assume that everyone must live in fear of them.

There is no law that allows a Soldier to manhandle and pummel a Civilian, especially in the presence of his wife and children.
It is very animalistic and savage! angry angry
You would wonder, some years down the line, if children traumatized by such experience turn out to be very hateful and vindictive to the society in general.

Do you think as a Father, if that man has access to a weapon he would think twice before shooting soldiers, ...any soldier for that matter?

All these "show of force" to unarmed civilians is NOT NECESSARY, any Soldier worth his salt who wants to prove macho, should do so to an ARMED PERSON....... Boko Haram will be better....... but we all know how they duck their tails between their legs and shiver when they hear "Boko-wetin"

“Now that Barack has embarrassed Michelle in front of the world, he’s going to pay a big, big price,” said the insider. “Michelle has said she wants a huge chunk of his net worth.

MARRIAGE, FOR WOMEN, .........IS ALL ABOUT MONEY!
If this story is TRUE, it further confirms my feelings that a "wise man" should not marry any woman.
Hook-up, have szex if need be, go gay, live together loosely, just about anything but dont ever have a LEGAL MARRIAGE or have KIDS with a woman.

At the end of the day, while a man is working very hard and thinking about "family" .......

Of-course, with such mind-set, the marriage is bound to eventually fail, either naturally or induced by some event.

biodunid: Woman loses pregnancy after alleged kick from boss

A 34-year-old woman, Mrs. Alexandra Ossai, has accused her Lebanese boss, Kaveh Noine, of causing her to lose her seven-month-pregnancy after he kicked her in the stomach.
........................................................

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ngozi Braide, said, “The incident which occurred on Thursday was not reported to the police until Tuesday. It took about five days before it was reported. So when the police arrived at the suspect’s workplace, they were informed that he had travelled. It took a long time for the complainant to report the matter. But we are investigating.”

We live in a phucked-up country!
Just imagine if this were to happen in another country where "the Law" is no respecter of anybody?

Already, the Police PRO is making up excuses for the Lebanese employer!
The fact that the assaulted women did not report the incident immediately, does not distract from the validity of the assault.
How do you expect an injured, bleeding pregnant woman with a dying baby inside her with a 17,000 salary/month to think of the Police station as the first port of call?
In order of priority, she would go to the hospital first and try to save her life, then the life of her baby first.

Jeeze, why do we have this type of corrupt Eediots in our Police Farce?

What do you think will happen to this Lebanese if he did this to an employee in Europe, U.K or America?

I am just "bothered" by the NATURE of most Pastor's wife! huh huh

For starters, lets assume the Pastor was "called" by God to "serve Him". That is (or should be) the basis of any religious leadership role.

Now, the Pastor decides he loves a woman and married her. She becomes his wife, just like l marry my own wife.
I know we dont need to argue that if l am say a CEO of a company or say l am a Colonel in the Nigerian Army or Bill Gates, it does not CONFER the same title, rights and privileges on my wife in any way. (except she is Madam Umbrerella sha grin )

How come that, when a husband is "called" and he becomes a Pastor, the wife simply assumes she is the "Assistant Pastor" (or even a bigger Pastor than the husband himself!) so much so she arrogates and confer authority to herself?
Who called her? God? Her husband or the Devil?

What is wrong with all these silly, pastor's wife sef? angry angry angry

In most cases, the husband (Pastor) who was called and ordained, may be a very meek person but their wives are such terrible, arrogant, vindictive, gossiping and maligning brood of vipers ...............and at times, l begin to wonder if most Pastor's wife are not a punishment to their husbands, .....for their "religious" shenanigans?

I know a Pastor who, for the sake of embarrassment and not to scatter business Ministry, is always moaning to close associates about how his wife slaps him and beat him anytime there is a small misunderstanding between them but since he preaches "no divorce and long-suffering" on the alter, he cannot come out publicly to stand-up for himself and God forbid if it is heard by the congregation that Pastor beats his wife! shocked shocked

In most cases, the Pastor's wife is A NOBODY .....minus the authority wielded by her husband as a Pastor", but she is so power-hungry and attention-seeking that she will openly demand for such authority and servitude.
These silly women just "ride" on their husbands position since people tend to "shake and tremble" for their Pastor ....why not the wife as well? huh huh

Just imagine a woman of say thirty five years, because she is a Pastor's wife, she expects a man old enough to be her father to call her Mummy! huh

Anyway, as for me, whether Pastor himself or his wife, if they dare call-me out on this "Daddy/Mummy issue, l will show them pepper!
In fact, l will ask them that if they are dumb enough not to know the exact number of children they sired by themselves, or do l look stewpid to them, not to know my own parents!
huh huh

But we must put the blame squarely at the foot of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Adeboye (RCCG, l am a member by the way), They started this nonsense of Daddy G.O. and Mummy G.O!

Now it has gotten out of hand, every self-appointed Pastor wants to be worshipped and called daddy!.
Daddy my black arze.......... Even Jesus, despite his awesome power, was not called "Daddy", He was simply called Jesus!

Madt women! angry

PapaBrowne: Interesting! This is the biggest exposé! Looks like Obasanjo's letter is going to start a season of opening of can of worms.

As she said, the generals Obj copied in that letter and himself are responsible for all the problems that exist in this country. They participated in every coup since 1966.

Nigerians are a gullibly sad bunch. People suddenly feel like obj's era was great. That would be a sad case of amnesia
At the bolded:

Par-adventure you would have noticed, since 1978, after the first Shagari govt, everyone including myself has always 'cursed' the government of the day .........as the worst govt TO DATE!
Ironically, if you think the last govt was bad, the current one seems to turn the previous one into a beacon of good governance! angry angry

We said the 1979 NPN government was bad but when Buhari Idiagbon took over, Nigerians were praying that they die the next day. They killed and whipped and jailed anyone and everyone! shocked shocked

When he was eventually toppled, the following years of "dribble and Maradona" was so bad that people wished Idiagbon would come back from the grave! Maradona was so evil he should be credited with destroying the moral fiber of this country!
That gap-toothed "Evil genius" started a revolution of moral decay (operation SETTLEMENT) in this country.

But "Step aside" and what you get is the "Dark Goggled" master killer called Abacha! This one was nothing short of a mad man from Hell and Nigerians paid the price because he killed them unrelentlessly! Some wished "Maradona" would come back, at least he would let his filthy corrupt money go around. But abacha died phucking some Indian ashawo or eating their punanny! grin

We have not even buried the Goggled-one when we were saddled with another flat-headed donkey called Abdusallami! Well, having gone through Abacha, you would think we've reached rock bottom but Abdusallami simply but quietly, stole us dry. His one year in office did nothing except allocate all our Oil Blocks to himself and his cronies in the Army and up North. Then some people reminded me that Abacha did not steal so brazenly like this now? We all prayed he would just fall down and die like Abacha! and maybe Abacha can come back to rule us "better". Abacha suddenly seems a good President. huh huh

Well, enter Mr. "second-chance OBJ", a product of some divine intervention ........and you would expect that he will show gratitude to God for sparing his life but this egocentric baboon was all about fuel increases and personal aggrandisement!
He was a Kleptomaniac, a notorious womanizer and very very wicked + unforgiving! Now l was wondering, how did we end up with this retired general for God's sake. For eight years he stole every penny we could have used to build Power stations, sold Nigerian patrimony in form of Govt Companies to his cronies via an "El Rufai Privatisation Program"! (the same foolish El rufai tweeting about everything that could get him noticed!).
From Transcorp, to Obj's library, to our Steel Corporations and Refineries, OBJ sold everything at cheap value to himself and cronies and even stole the little proceeds of the sale! Now, which of the previous Govt we have been complaining about was that bad? Suddenly, flat head Abdusallami looked like an Angel and Evil genius looked like a blessing!

But faith is not done with us yet. We heaved a sigh of relief for having the first graduate President in form of Yar Ardua. That one was either too senile to know what was going on around him or his cronies, especially his wife Turai, have taken over the rulership of this country and the way they looted it with careless abandon, you would think looting was going to be abolished the next day! At that point Nigerians were thinking hey, we thought Obj was bad, now we got a worse one! Maybe we should have allowed this third term nonsense? A stealing president like OBJ would at least be better than a Zombie! shocked

When Yar Ardua died (and the day of his death and where he died still remains debatable, if not that some highly (dis)respected Clergy men saw him doing 90-Push-ups per minute and running faster than Hussein Bolt, l would have said he died long before it was announced ); we all thought at least OBJ was alive and stealing, this one was "dead and still stealing through his aides and wife grin )

Anyways, enter the "shoeless one" and we thought "Aaah, anyone who had suffered before will know how to treat poor people" but in all honesty, if you put that criminal called OBJ down on one side and the current thieving mo.r.on on the other side, 90% of Nigerians, (except people from Niger delta who think the only yardstick to chose a President is if he comes from the Creeks) will prefer OBJ! These Shoeless one was just too dumb to steal discretely like the Evil genius. he was too spineless to be brash and decisive like an OBJ. he was always too drunk, he appeared dead, even more than Yar Ardua! Like a creek snake, he is very dangerous and deceitful. He is just too overwhelmed with "doing nothing" and yet he wants to rule us forever!
I dont mind a performing President ruling some full term but pleeeaasssse, this one is a joke, a bad "fresh" joke!

That is how bad, successive governments have been in Nigeria!
The worst one is ALWAYS better than the current one! Its not amnesia, REALITY!

I bet you, the next one after the daft one will be worse than OBJ, BAbangida, Abacha and Jonathan rolled into one. grin

But l agree with you. The problem is not the crazy Presidents we have been having, the Problem lies with we Nigerians because we are actually not fit for this country. We will end up like Yemen or Somalia very soon, the way we are going.

Gosh, did l just say that? lipsrsealed lipsrsealed

*They are both vociferous critics and good at telling Govt the TRUTH.

*They both came back a "changed person"
*They both became suddenly wealthy and dont care about the truth or their conscience anymore
*They are both in Govt as of today!

Politics › Re: Over 80 Nigerians Killed In Bangui (Central African Republic) by lastpage: 7:36am On Dec 12, 2013
I think some of us Christians need to be ashamed of ourselves, from what l am reading here!

Granted, most Muslims have been ....and are blood-thirsty wherever they gain a foot-hold (very intolerant of others) but what moral right do we (or would we) have, to criticize and chastise them, if we do exactly what they do to us, back to them?

Is that what your Bible taught you or are you just a Christian by "mouth" but worse than a Boko Haram, in faith and lifestyle?
Ask yourself: WHAT WOULD CHRIST SAY OF YOU, HEARING YOUR UTTERANCES ON THIS MATTER?
Abeggi o, stop disgracing our faith, please.

A Nigerian is a Nigerian, irrespective of his religion and we should all join hands not just to condemn this barbaric killings of innocent Nigerians in CAR but all of us must do whatever it takes (especially those useless folks in the embassy and foreign ministry), to get them out of there very fast.

On another level, what is it with AFRICANS and their crude way of fighting that they carry matchets and cudgels to pummel another humanbeing to death? In 2013, how come its mainly in Africa that they still use "matchets to cut themselves to pieces"?

Finally, its time to hold all these moronic WARLORDS to account.
Where are the DRONES when you need them?

Each and every one of them causes untold suffering to innocent children all in the name of power struggle.

U.N Security Council needs to sit and pass a sharp resolution that any warlord or Lord of War whose action results in the death of the innocent civilians, especially children mist be captured dead or alive and if alive, must spend the rest of his life in a third world Prison!

This is getting to much too often now/ angry angry

BTW: That Nigerian Minister was busy running after University babes, day and night, .....How will he ever "hear" of the killings? Useless slowpoke!
