Fashola: said road traffic management “is not the responsibility of the local councils. I believe it is a gang of miscreants. I do not think they represent any local government or local development authority Le Stylo: Really wished we'd be back to the Nairaland of old where issues are intellectually dissected. This "first to comment" thing really kills it!I also think the Governor needs to be VERY EXPLICIT AND SPECIFIC on this Local Council Officials issue, when they turn themselves to Police and Traffic managers cum arresting officers for traffic offense. These are people who use cloth to cover one way sign so that Drivers can be trapped! ... just so they can extort money from the driver! Fashola has to come out more strongly against such Touts and Miscreants as he tagged them or even make explicit laws on this nonsense. I don tire for Area-Boys that are high on drugs, jumping in front of a moving vehicle! Lastpage! |

Eyop: This catalyst issue almost ended my life when it happen to a 2007 Toyota Matrix i bought from Cotonou. Even when i went to the market to get a replacement (which you cannot get a new one but rather the old one except you order for it from the United States) i bought a complete exhaust for #35,000 because i never wanted cut and weld but rather coupling it but after it was mounted,it became worst and the vehicle was struggling to drive. It was then they noticed that it was a worked exhaust and i was advice by even the seller that the best thing i should do is to drive the car like that or order it from USA because most of them in Ladipo are worked by his brothers. You can order it from any foreign country where they dont tamper with things like that. If not for the weight l would have helped you order one from Europe/UK and get it sent it to you but its damn heavy! I think there is someone in Auto section who helps in ordering parts, as a business? Check it out. Lastpage! |
tintingz: The Quran clearly said "let there be no compulsion in religion"Read the latest on here: https://www.nairaland.com/1523664/boko-haram-shot-man-head-refusing
This man, Habila Adamu, was shot in his head after he refused to deny Christ by Boko Haram militants in Nigeria. But he survived and is here to share the love of Christ to the world. Boko Haram is an Islamic jihadist militant organization based in the northeast Nigeria. The group came to Adamu because he is a Christian. "They wanted me to deny Jesus. They want to ‘Islamitize’ Nigeria. That is why they are targeting Christians," he said in a CBN video posted on YouTube. “If you agree to deny your faith you will be safe. If you don’t agree to do it, they will kill you,” he added. And that is how he answered why he chose to stand his ground and refused to deny Christ. “What can separate us from the love of Christ? Is it hardship? Is it persecution? Is it sword? No. Nothing can separate us from the love of Christ,” he said. "Christ did something for me and all the people in the world. We are sinners! We are condemned criminals! We are supposed to die! But He took all these burdens! He paid for our debts! He died for us! Why can I not submit to Jesus? That is what I did. I stood for him!"
Judge for yourself now. Lastpage! |
agohmamuda: You right and am right to some degree. Rating officers a.k.a recruits are d lawless ones and trust me its in the military code of conducts that military officers are not to engage/touch civilians, those assulting civilians if caught will face a military court marshal and will be dismissed or suspended or demoted as d case may be.Brother, The long and short of these is PLAIN LAWLESSNESS! Let us even look at the "law that was in-place" Section 109 and section 110 refers: Dont wear "Army Uniform", if you do an dtry to impersonate a Army personnel, the punishment on "being found guilty" is PRISON SENTENCE OR FINE. End of story! That is the law and everyone, be it Army or civilian is bound by the constitution. Now, let us dissect that law: 1.) The Law refers to Army Uniform. So what constitutes an "Army Uniform"? To help us, let us assume that a "real Army personnel" wears a Camouflage T-Shirt and then puts on "Blue jeans and brown Sneakers then tops it up with a baba-Ajasco type of Golf Face-cap". (Without the Military pips, the Epaulets, Insignia and rank). Question: can that person, dressed like that pass through a Barrack gate and expect the gate orderly to "salute him" with full military honors? The ANSWER is "NO"! Simply because his appearance does not represent or qualify him to be addressed or seen as a Military personnel. In essence, the "camouflage T-shirt alone" does not qualify him to be "recognized" as a Military personnel. This example shows that for you to be seen (intentionally or mistakenly) and recognized as a "Military Personnel", YOU NEED MORE THAN JUST A CAMOUFLAGE SHIRT OR TROUSERS. If that analogy is true, how come then that some Ediotic Military riff-raffs think anyone wearing a camouflage Shirt (without all the other accessories l mentioned above) is impersonating the Military? or are they just using it as an excuse for vendetta and abuse of Uniform/Power? That section of the Law NEVER mentioned the phrase "Camouflage" and l have read every letter of it; It only said "Army Uniform". 2.) Now again, let us even assume that the "civilian in question" is guilty of wearing "Army Uniform" by wearing a Camouflage (Just for analysis sake) The law did PRESCRIBE a PUNISHMENT FOR SUCH ACTION. It is IMPRISONMENT and/or a FINE Now, tell me, how does some rag-tag illiterate in military uniform, asking a Civilian offender to "stand on his head in a pool of muddy water" or "Tearing the Camouflage and making the wearer naked in public", constitute the PUNISHMENT PRESCRIBED BY THE LAW? If those who wrote the constitution think the proper punishment is to make the offender stand on his head in a muddy pool of water, or be beaten to pulp or be strewn naked in public, is the "due punishment" for this offence, it would have said and written it down likewise! But here we have a group of dolts, ill-trained and actually cowardly bullies (see how they run for ordinary rag-tag Boko haram or Ijaw millitant!) who think they have the Liberty to make their own laws and re-write the constitution of this country, just because they are "military peeps"? ![]() If they have any sense in them at all and this action is not borne out of vendetta, Bullying and arrant disregard for others, they would have said "Look you have contravened the Law by wearing Army Uniform (Camouflage), we will now arrest you and hand you over to the Police who should in-turn charge you to a LAW COURT for determination and possible sentencing". That is how sensible, bold, well trained, confident and enlightened "military" behave.. (It can only happen in our black continent now) But they wont do that because they know that they cannot defend their position in a law court and hence resort to "BRUTALITY, OPPRESSION and CRIMINALITY". Take away their gun and you would see that most of these one brutalizing innocent civilians are actually cowards or who else will hold a gun and fight someone who does not have access to a gun? A COWARD! ![]() ...And l dont blame these bullies in the Military Uniform anymore than l blame their victims! I blame a lot of stewpid Nigerians who dont have any sense and dont know their left from their right! (You can see what most of them and writing on this thread!) These set of Civilians are so entrenched in "poverty of the mind and soul" that their life has no value and you can do anything to them. You can even roast their child for Suya, in their presence and all they would say is that "I have warned my child, na him no dey hear word". "People would treat you the way you ask them or allow them to treat you". Lastpage! |
agohmamuda: A civilian putting on a camouflage is called " abuse of uniform". The law has been in existence for so long and as at last month the chief of Army staff warned against civilians, be it celebrities or who ever no to wear camouflage. Not to be worn for parties, performances, leisure or what so ever reason. There has to be discipline and a clear differentiation between civilians and military. God bless me and the Nigerian Army.I guess Nigeria is just sinking to a "new low", everyday! Why is it that most posters using the word "Army", along with the word "Camouflage" (as in "Army Camouflage" ?To me, it seems there is a general assumption that the "Camouflage" (anything that is used for "deception" or 'stealth' ), BELONGS TO THE ARMY! It is only in Nigeria that the ARMY is DEFINED by "DESIGN OF A CLOTH" (which is what 'Camouflage cloth' is). Not wearing a Camouflage does not make you less of an Army, .........so wearing it ONLY, should not make you one or more of one. When "humans" lack substance, they begin to dwell on the inane"! I guess our Military have nothing else to "show-off" anymore, except "Camouflage Cloth"! You should recognize a "bloody Civilian" when you see one, even if he is dressed from head to toe in Military attire same as you should recognize a "Proper Military Machine", when you see one, even if he is just wearing a White T-Shirt and Black Sports pants! Its all about the "training, Discipline and mentality" But if our own Nigerian Army has become so debased that that all they have left to 'PROTECT AND PORTRAY' is Camouflage Cloth", then something is wrong with them. IGNORANCE, ABUSE OF POWER, OPPRESSION, INFERIORITY COMPLEX AND LOW SELF-ESTEEM IS WHAT IS WORRYING ANY SOLDIER THAT GOES ABOUT HARASSING ANYONE WEARING A CAMOUFLAGE CLOTH. Ask yourself: Why is it that the "real professional and war-fighting Armies" of the U.S.A and Europe/U.K dont harass their citizens and the general public for wearing Camouflage Cloth? Because they do not suffer from that inferiority complex that our own Nigerian Army (and generally despotic African Armies) suffer from. ...And to think that their "public love and worship" them like a God? I wear it, my kids have it as shoes, under-pants, T-shirts, e.t.c, my wife wears it and we move around in it without trying to "look like or imitate' any military personnel. l am waiting for the day when one "Overzealous Soldier" would try me....... Jobless Morons. Soldiers all over the world are the "bed-rock of development and research" in their respective countries, the only thing ours are noted for is "lazy talk, pepper soup and beer ... and harassment of sheepish and docile civilians"! Tell me one single invention pioneered by Nigerian Military? Tell me one Single Project they have undertaken from start to finish, ...even if it is a "small bridge"? It is only peeps with "insecurity issues" that project aggression and turn to BULLIES on "weaker people"! That is how those Army boys come across, to me. By the way, the section of the constitution that was "quoted" refers to 'Military Uniform" and never said "Camouflage Cloth". So, how do you "interpret" a camouflage Cloth to mean military Uniform? Ariyke: its the worst thing that ever happened to me though it was ignorance on my parent part I dont blame them but I get to pay for it for the rest of my lifeDo you think it affects your sexual fulfilment or are you just "imagining" it does ? Why do you consider it very bad? How are you paying for it, now? Are you aware that the clit we see is just 10% of the sensitive muscle itself and the remaining 90% is actually inside and still there (and still very functional and useable to the fullest? ndidibabe: By the way, I was circumcised and can not remember if I passed through any pain because I was probably very young then. However, while in boarding school, I found it irritating when I see girls with the extra meat. I am just happy to be circumcised. On the other hand, my hubby always say I would have enjoyed 'intimacy' more If I wasn't circumcised but I don't agree.Do you think he was or might just be using this as an excuse for himself? I think whether a woman climbs the mountain or not, depends on the "virility and technique" (technique mostly, borne out of knowledge and/or experience) of the man. Why are you "just happy"? Why do you find those girls meat irritating? (I guess it might be the same reason l find the "flabby meat" of uncircumcised guys very irritating) .... but we must understand that it is not their fault. Back to the main issue. Generally, we still have to consider both sides: Argument 1: 1.) Those that argue that Uncircumcised females have EXTREMELY HIGH LIBIDO and cannot be satisfied by one man, (their husband) and hence the tendency to be sexually promiscuous (multiple sexual partners, self-servicing, Lesbainism, e.t.c). They argue that circumcision puts such things in-check Argument 2 2.) Those that argue that it should be left like that and the woman allowed to explore her sexual fantasy to the fullest, aside the diseases that are used as scare-tactics since circumcision is not actually the cause of those diseases but improper surgery/infected equipments (Same as in the case of Male circumcision with unsterilized equipments) QUESTION: Where and How can we as Africans, "strike a balance" between both, for the benefit and fulfilment of our females? Godyke: All we read and hear everyday is clamp down on those who carry out legitimate means of livelihood. Nobody is talking about the same traffic law that prohibits the national union and their Agbero counterparts from forcefully collecting money from commercial motorists at every bus stops, highways and places other than major garages. Or have that part of the law been put on hold until after 2015 election. Those TOUTS work for Opeifa and Fashola and his God Father 'Tinubu' so nothing will be done about them. It just amazes me when these clowns in govt just do a "COPY AND PASTE" of legislation from overseas, into Nigeria, not taking into consideration our "peculiar environmental issues" that differ greatly from where they are copying from and creates a different set of scenario, for such laws! 8-HRS working time is very desirable and is obtainable in most advanced countries but hey, those drivers can organize their 8-hrs properly, They can predict their income almost to the last dollar for those 8-hrs They dont have Agbero to contend with, within that 8-hrs They dont have "official LGA Touts to deal with within that 8-Hrs They dont have to spend half of that 8-hrs in unending traffic snarls They dont have useless Policemen shooting at them with life bullets if they dont part with part of their 8-hr income They have a "social benefit" system which cushions their income of 8-hrs, should the unexpected happen Their "car-testing and certification" really works unlike ours where the Govt is only interested in the "Testing Fee" and nothing more! They dont operate within a Govt that closes down their wife's stall and every opportunity the Governors wife farts or his cronies cough! I can go on and on but it is not necessary. Our leaders are past their sell-by date, not fit ofr purpose and completely EXPIRED! 8-hrs working time is not top of the list of this govts problem. For emphasis, build more roads (not those one-season, rain-wash-away make-overs called roads) and open up access for smoother traffic *Create alternative to road traffic, buod 4th mainland Bridge and other roads. Main Rail and Light rail inter-city systems is needed. *Stop buying over-used and written-off Buses as new ones to be used as BRT. snoopy: If your son/daughter brings shame and dishonour to your name, would you disown and cut him/her off totally and will you go to the townsquare to join other people in calling for the killing of your own son/daughter because of the shame and dishonour?Brus, I think on the larger scale, the average Yoruba Family will do exactly that. We are noted for disowning our children (and even fathers) who bring our family name into disrepute. Growing-up, l have seen so many of this and one of the sayings that still rings true in my ears today, from when l was a young boy is when my parents tell me "remember the son of who you are, dont bring shame to our family name as you are not the only one bearing that name". I tell my own children the same thing. Our name goes over "generations". We shamed Tafa balogun, We disgraced Bode George, we will do Obasanjo and Tinubu, as soon as we can but make no mistake about this: aside from the few but very noisey "Forty -IPad" boys-of-the-belly who come here to sing the praises of these Yoruba-thieves, the average Yoruba has already disowned these criminals and the likes of Bank-Ole. That is who we are, that is why we are Yorubas, that is why each "family name is unique and can be traced to a particular village, .... no be now wey "civilisation" don dey make Yoruba man bear "Adewale Armani"! Back in the 70's, if you are caught as a thief, the first thing is to mention your "family name" and believe me, that family is ostracised and derided as if they all stole! .......though the general climate of corruption in Nigeria is infecting us as well, as we dont live in another "island" than this same Nigeria. Let me add that there is room for "redemption" for such disowned family member if he/she repents, make atonements and demonstrates beyond doubt, that he/she has turned a new-page. I think it is the way to go, to imbibe discipline in our offsprings. Lastpage! |
Prof Corruption: Well, with due respects, l hope our Igbo Brothers and Sisters, ..and Nigerians in general, would take a leaf from this? When "Stealler" Oduahs case came to light, what we were hearing was that she was innocent, until a court or committee investigates and finds her guilty! ...despite the fact that her case was even "worse and so much brazen" as there was "physical evidence" of her theft. Again, this lady must have come from a particular "TRIBE" in Ghana, why did her people not carry placard and threaten fire and brimstone, if she was sacked? Why did they not point finger, start abusing and accusing other tribes of being jealous? Everyone must join hands to condemn and punish a thief, whether he/she is Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa or other minority ethnic groups, is IRRELEVANT. Even more poignant is the fact that the President of Ghana did not HESITATE OR DILLY-DALLY before taking action in sacking this woman, despite the fact that she was reported to have worked assiduously for the man's election victory! Why is it that our own President was so sluggish and suffers "mental-inertia" during the various cases of gargantuan corruption that erupted under his watch? Could it be that it was because he himself is an epitome of corruption or he gets a percentage behind our backs in form of "campaign donations"? I must also add that this sacked lady only showed "an intent" to make One Million Dollars (she might even intend to save it over the years ahead?) but the mere fact that she alluded to "an intent to making money as a Govt Minister/Politician", her position has become untenable. Such is the high standard they hold themselves to and l am sure the next Minister will think twice before nursing similar ideas. This is how to sanitize a society and build good morals amongst the younger generations. The fact that we do nothing and even tacitly encourage corruption, sends out the wrong signal to our youths and that is why we keep digging ourselves deeper into that pit of corruption and the quality of our lives keep getting worse over time. I HOPE WE (ALL NIGERIANS) REALLY LEARN FROM THIS EVENT. Lastpage! BTW: We must remember that Ghana has a certain jerry rawlings who took the "bull by the Horns" and sanitized Ghana when they were going down the drain (as our Shoemakers and "Digarawa, Di-Baasia", e.t.c) . Does Nigeria have "men" who are selfless enough to sanitize this our dear country or are we just a bunch of greedy and selfish beings? |

Na die you go die, for Nigeria, dem no send you! |
I understand those who are preaching "restraint" but l disagree with them completely! WHY? In order of importance: 1.) First, l blame Nigerians who go to other people's country and dont behave lawfully. It's a reflection of our 'get-rich-quick-by-all-means' attitude. We must understand that our "Host" needs to be respected so that they can equally respect us. We must also know that we cannot exort bad behavior to a comparatively decent society, without repercurssions 2.) EVERYONE places a VALUE on their LIFE and this largely determines "WHAT" they can do or are willing to do, to survive. In a nation where those in govt loot Billions of Dollars every year while the common man lives on less than a dollar-a-day, has created a "breed of Nigerians" who are very desperate and dont place any value on their own lives, not to mention that of others. Such is the rank of these drug-peddlers and armed robbers. Govt needs to play its own part in ensuring that Nigeria is "livable" for ALL Nigerians, not just the rich few. Infact, we dont have a government! 3.) l counted over 30 Indian police officers in that incident and l find it unbelievable that if they truly wanted to prevent the lynching (yes, it is lynching to be attacked and beaten to death by a mob) of that Nigerian, they could have done more but since he is a Nigerian, and going by the comment of the Police chief, they tacitly allow pockets of lynchers to slip through their cordon, to deliver fatal blows to that guys head. So, this is an "institutionalized lynching" and the Indian Police are guilty of aiding and abetting murder. 4.) The Nigerian community became angered and rightly so, over this lynching ... and they protested the actions of the authority in allowing this to happen. Now, 54 of them were arrested again and are being charged with attempted murder of a Police officer and public disorder! That is what l call adding insult to injury! ![]() Rightly and as expected, the issue of having "legal residency papers" is being used as an excuse to intimidate these Nigerians in India. It is intimidation but a well-orchestrated one that will succeed. In the light of all the above, ... and l will try to be diplomatic here so you have to "read my lips" ![]() The sequence of actions that should have happened in Nigeria is these: a.) Some things can not be left to reminisce over, they demand instant action otherwise, you lose the right to act. Nigerians are very likeable people (bordering on docility) and our "nature" is being exploited all over. A few Indians in Nigeria should have being given "the same treatment" so that our own Police can also act to protect these Indians. You may say "an eye for an eye" is not good and we should just negotiate this matter .... but someone also said that "You should never NEGOTIATE from a position of WEAKNESS"! This guy is dead, the Indian govt have rounded up a few Nigerians and will deport them while it will attempt to charge two or three to court (depending on how Nigerian Govt ratchet-up its own action, these ones might also go to jail!). If we had taken the "proper action", at the proper time, the benefits will be thus: 1.) Both Govt will be negotiating the "Release and Exchange of Hostages" so to say, not one begging the other to release its citizens! 2.) It will send a clear message to all and sundry that if you kill one Nigerian, you should expect to "pay with about five", now thats what l call "fair exchange". Others will think twice before just mauling a Nigerian to death. if they are guilty of any offense, the right thing to do is to arrest and charge them to court and sentence them wella-wella. 3.) Finally, it will also wake-up our own govt that if they dont shape-up, we can put them (and the whole country) in a bad situation but as those in power, they have more to lose and as such, they will address the problems l listed earlier, that make our people so desperate. What the rich fear most is a public riot! ![]() Whether its too late to act now, l cannot say but l can tell you that at the end of the day, India will offer some tepid apology and regret 9if we shake them well ni) but hey, Uzoma, a bonafide Nigerian, IS DEAD AND NO MORE! ![]() Next time, Nigerians, dont be so "civilized" naa.... The Law of Moses/Musa is for everyone. Lastpage! |
dbride: STFU, Nigeria is not for the igbos alone! This nation belongs to all of us, majority and minority tribes. You have disgraced the Igbos enough with your empty Igbo tribal brain. Yes, majority of us Igbos have little or no education and so we cling unto our igbo tribe just like stack illiterates do because of low self esteem, inferiority complex. Real educated Igbos, though very few, will never condone corruption because their kinsman is involved. All the Igbos siding Oduah are all half baked or not baked at all. This is the reason we can NEVER get that seat. How can a tribe be so supportive of evil because that evil is done by a kinsman? naijaking1: When did it became fashionable for educated Igbos to pass judgements, demand a pound of flesh or removal from office without trail? You know what? TRUTH HURTS SO BADLY! With people like dbride, there is still hope for this country of ours. Like l always say, l have more than a few Igbo friends (one of them is my son's Godfather!) and we dont give a hoot where the other person comes from, Igbo, Hausa or Yoruba. They are well-rounded in all endeavors of life and we get a long without even remembering where anyone came from. Our friendship dates back to our University days in the late 80's and the fact that we our children are now inter-marrying, is a testimony that we have stepped-up to the next level. Small minds can keep bitching about "tribe" for lack of something better to ascribe their "internal insecurities" to. Whoever does evil, wrong or steals, is a thief (nubu)! and should be condemned, irrespective of where the 'criminal' comes from.Only Thief-minded minions support looting of the national treasury. "Stealer" Oduah is not the first Nigerian female THIEF (as confirmed by the House Committee which investigated her case) .... and she wont be the last. Iyabo Obasanjo stole money meant for Hospitals and used fake training in Ghana to siphon public funds. She is Yoruba and she remains a common thief like Stealer Oduah; It may seem she is free for now but trust me, "Judgement-day-a-coming". Lets grow-up. That you want to be a different country should not make us enemies, it should/will be decided in a "civilized referendum". You cant 'force' people to live together, happily! ........ but please, let's be civilized about it. The Past is Past but the future is still manageable. End of story! Lastpage! |
