Politics › Re: Obasanjo, Fashola At Loggerhead Over Seized Vehicle by lastpage: 5:38am On Oct 24, 2012
pro01: Fashola is an 1diot, and his 1diocy is multiplying in quadruples each passing day. Since when did traffic offences become something you use to prove stuuupid points? If a person commits a traffic offence and his vehicle is impounded, is there no possibility of paying a fine to reclaim your vehicle? Why not simply tell OBJ that "baba, send your aide to pay the stipulated N20k fine and the vehicle would be released". What is the point to be proved in holding someone's vehicle indefinitely, even if it were an ordinary person and not OBJ? Would he prove this same foolish 'point' with Tinubu's vehicle?

Mehn, this Fashola disgusts me more than a decaying coprse.
Haba, pro01, dis one is unlike you now?

First, it is good that you agree that Baba Obj's vehicle are not above the law.

Secondly, It is also good that you dont expect his drivers/Vehicles to be treated differently, when they break the law.

Having said the above, where and How did you come about the conclusion that Fashola refused to accept that Baba Obj pays "fine " on the vehicle, as stipulated by law?

Just imagine for a second:

@OBJ: Fashola, l want to pay the fine for my impounded Vehicle.
@Fashola: Baba, your "fine-payment" is not acceptable, l just want to seize the vehicle and embarrass you, sebi u be PDP naah!

Does that sound "commonsensical" coming from a Lawyer, not to mention a state Governor ...and a Yoruba man to an elderly Yoruba man?

I will want to "think" that Baba OBJ just felt that "What the heck, who does he think he is, does he not know th evehicle belongs to me ...abi k'ori "OBJ Farms" on the vehicle? Wlahi, l will finish this small boy, Emi Old Sooja! grin grin, Chairman of PDP for life! Ebora of Owu, omo Yiibo and Ofoemanu combined!
shocked

Thing is: The law is the law!
It was not even OBJ that drove the vehicle himself (maybe some respect would have been accorded his "rascal" personality! grin ).

Now, can one single man be greater than the laws of the land?
*Do you think if George Bush or Clinton's driver drove against traffic in the U.S., that vehicle will not be impounded and the driver prosecuted?
*Do you think or what do you think will happen, if an "individual" tries to seize "state asset" ;like OBJ is said to have done, to show that he is "above the law", in the U.S or anywhere in Europe?

Do you even think those Presidents will like "their name" to be "associated" with such infamy, in any way?

This is the crux of we black people!
We worship "humans" too much but we "trample on our structures" in doing so.

If l were Obj,l would not even do like l heard the "news", l will simply send one of my "Drivers" to go and pay the fine (and let the offending particular offending driver undergo "mental test" lest he "bite one of my chickens inadvertently! shocked ) and bring the vehicle back home. Chikenna.

All this "forming and chest-beating" is not good for a titled-chief!

Imagine if Lagos State Police come put Baba for Kirikiri, like Bode George... on the orders of a court of Law?

I beg o, l be Yoruba, we abhor disgrace of our elders... but our elders should also not act disgracefully in public, at least! wink

Cheers,

Caveat: if Baba Obj has approached Fashola as "an Egbon", omo oduduwa .... and Fashola was the one proving "i be SAN, today na today!" shocked ...

debrief08: You are a liar. Fratanization between officers and Men is strictly prohibitted, it earns an outright dismissal.
Even a relationship between and officer and another officer is out of bounds as if that develops one would have to resign talkless of a commissioned officer and a non commissioned one, go and read your service book and stop lying here.
Go and write your story in the literature section. Why is it that lies make the front page and important news and stories like the harassment of women in FCT does not?
Sorry Maam,
You, are not current!

The rule hitherto was that "You must get the "APPROVAL" of your C.O. and State Commissioner, before you can marry a fellow officer!

That rule has been abolished NOW, by the current Law-makers.

As a "properly accredited and internationally recognized Onyebeeke-Observer extraordinaire"& the "Yoruba Gburugburu I of NairaLand",
i have once again "observed" that this thread has gone SILENT! (right in the middle of an election! huh )

Never have l "observed" a silent election like this!

It is just too peaceful to be "observed";
Oginni? Wetin happin? k'ilo se'lee?

Initially l thought "Seun" or one of those "aje-butter" kids of his has removed "The Plug" as usual but l was able to log-on successfully so, he and his "yanrinyans" must be snoring it out peacefully as well?

Then l searched for that "shinning machete" of Okija juju (the one he was brandishing in one of his protest adverts!) , no-where to be found! shocked shocked Not even him! chinekemee!!

One step forward, in the hope that our INEC chairman is still seating on his "chair", na lie! huh huh Seems he is too 'busy' doing "Kerewa-Kerewa" at this ungodly hour!

Even members of his "Electoral Commission", whom by duty of being "Returning officers", have returned NOTHING SO FAR, to the best of my "observation"! angry angry
What if "ballot boxes" are being "stuffed" at this moment as l write? What if "that" candidate's supporters have kidnapped the Polling Officers?

Even that my "ofumannu" friend who volunteered to be Okija-juju's Polling Agent, (without anyone asking him to!) has become invisible like "Egungun Calabar"! "Ekpoo" or wetin dem dey call dem sef?

I have tried to "observe" to see if l will even see the "proverbial" Area-boyz, who by now should be perfecting their plans to "ambush the election results" on its way to mr. INEC Chairman's office but alas, they have all received Jeezus into their lives! None is to be seen here-in! Sombori shout 17 Halleluyaaah!

But "ewo lo'kanmi mbe" sef? (Which one kon-sain me inside?); With due respects to our able Igbo Pastor located in the U.K grin grin

My remit is to "observe" and report what ever l see, including "Silence"!
shocked shocked

And l am reporting that' as at 3:20hrs GMT (around 11:20am American time!), I SEE NOTHING! Walahii!

Not even VOTERS!

This must be a kind of joke or someone is trying to pull a "jooker" out of the cards.

If all you people that wrote 58pages on this thread think you can suddenly disappear, l hereby rudely command that you all appear NOW!
Appear! Appear!! Appear!!! By fire by force, Appear, Appppeeeaaaarrrrrr!!!!!!!! cry cry huh

(Yoruba is sweating profusely: No appearance at all! this peeps must be very stubborn! Anyway, "omo-Yiibo", l dont expect less!) grin grin

So, how am l supposed to do my work of "observing" .... and even sending "interim results/ breaking news" to the international community?

Aaah, this election fall my hand .... or am l being hasty in judgement? Most likely.

When you see a frog hopping around in daylight, something must be trying to eat it!
This "silence' portends something l am yet to put my big fat fingers on! But be assured that l am not deterred by this
seemingly 'show of gra-gra' like say na only Nnamdi own this nairaland! grin;

l think dey say the election would be "MANUAL"?
What does that mean sef? Manual Oginni?

Will I.K shout from his roof-top that he is voting for Odumchi
.... and then "PointB" will score: Odumchi = 1 point. His opponent(s) (whoever that is/are) = 0 point!?

Then Chukwudi will shout from im Container on its way from Taiwan, my vote is for Okija-juju, both valid and invalid, just add them together!
Then "INEC Point-Chair" will stand-up, annoyed at the lack of "understanding" from Chukwudi, that "the law, is the law" ...be it an "ar.se law" or even a complete shyte!

Chukwudi, your vote is Foid
(Sharrap, not Void), come next year when you have purged yourself of this "juju-attitude" that makes you see what others dont see! shocked shocked shocked Oyosi-buruku!

This democracy is "working", though in its infancy and mistakes are bound to be made!
grin

Stop shouting "Murice Iwuruwuru", is he the one that said "Voting machine" should not work? "Manual" was forced on him naah! lipsrsealed

And the show goes on and on.....
By now, we should be hearing something like: "Obachonjo, Obachonjo, Obaskonjo, ...Aartiku, Arrtiku,... Obasong-jo, Obasangjo, Arthiefkuu, Obakonjo, Oobaaa, Oobaaa, Obaaaaa, Arrtobaaa, Oobaaaaachanjo!
You must remember now, no be just yesterday that Eeewu-Gorrila play us 419 at Eagle square?

Okay, its 4:15am GMT .. and it seems l am the only one taking this very seriously! sad sad
That is me, for you!
Always thinking all those "yabis" from "Okija-juju" to "Onlytruth and PointB" is to be taken seriously!

Those three are probably flushing down one big, well mustachioed isi-ewu Goathead ..... with flenty-flenty of Stout, at this moment!
while l am here observing "SILENCE"!

Chei, see as dem take make "Ofomannu" and the rest of the protesters come look like "Mumu"

Okay, dont ask me how that affects the price of Gaari!
But l wan to soak a little Gaari, na the only bad habit wey l get for my whole life be that! grin

If l be Hausa, l for reach for Gworo or Kulinkuli, but my middle name na "Ifeanyi" therefore, Groundnut is always in my rear pocket! wink

(yawns and begins to do justice to his Gaari!)

I will comeback but God forbid "final result" suddenly appears from nowhere!
shocked huh lipsrsealed
They will have a lot of "behind-the-scene" explanations to do, to the UN Security Council of course!

or did you forget that l am "an Internationally recognized, duly accredited Onyebeeeke foreign Observer"?

We did not contact Seun. If he switch off the poll feature of his site, it's either he has problem with it or other reason. We'll do just fine. Thanks for asking.
Thank you Bros.
But l find your response "open-ended"!
Too many "IFS".

1.) You are not sure IF did switch it off.
2.) You are not sure WHY he (if he did) switched it off
3.) You did not contact him
4.) When was it switched-off?

But we both know that the things works.
We both know that if used, it will give "more" credibility to the process
From your initial statements, you would have loved to use it, as you want the best for this election!

Now, my worry is WHY YOU REFUSED T CONTACT HIM, as a "constituted Authority", on behalf of the electorate!
Is there something wrong that l dont know about?

Do you think that "SEUN" is acting like 'no one can do without him' and..... l will prove him wrong, you know? wink wink

I hereby issue a PUBLIC FATWA to "Seun", (I would have done it privately if l knew how to contact "Big men" like him shocked):Would you please, if asked "genuinely", like l am doing, "activate E-voting"?
Cheap sentiments...

Will you say you haven't noticed the trend of putting Igbo crime threads on Nairaland home page?

Let me jug you memory, today it was the ritual killing, yesterday it was the money laundering, last week it was cocaine pushers caught in china..

I didn't promote tribalism, I simply said it must be stopped..
okay, you say it is cheap, right?
questions:
*Is it solely "Igbo crime threads" that get reported?
*are all the "Mods" Yoruba? grin ... or are there "Yiibo" Mods as well? wink
*Are those reports "true, accurate and events that just happened recently? shocked

In a day, there are close to 50 threads, l suppose, a lot more dont even make front page!
How can you now make your deductions, based on just "three-out-of-fifty" threads!

Even at that, "Leaders should promote Unity, Peace and reconciliation" rather than champion "Bigotry and ethnic bigotry!
I recall this was the same accusation that you leveled against the regime of the outgoing Eze Ndigbo!

That is my sentiment, as an independent Observer!
Dont forget we are adults and we are leaving a legacy for our younger ones.
If this were to be a Yoruba election, l will still tell them the same thing!
We need to STOP this our Tribalism, all of us!

But carry go, nothing do you.
My position on your disqualification still remains unchanged: As an Independent Observer, l will like the "Voting Ndigbo sons and daughters to determine your fate, THROUGH THE BALLOT BOX! Chikenna!!

In exercise of my role, l am hereby forwarding a petition to the Chief INEC officer and the Ultimate Igbo council on the need to exercise democracy, "warts and all", to the fullest, so that the process may "learn and evolve".
OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM OKIJA_JUJU TO ALL NDI IGBO AND NAIRALAND IN GENERAL........

Ndi Nne na Nna, let's not kid ourselves, the Igbo Nation of Nairaland is facing its toughest time in my over 6 years on this forum. We have been made into the subject of ridicule by bigots of other ethnicities and even the Moderators have encouraged it. Every week, at least 4 Igbo bashing threads hit the from pages. On Nairaland, if any Igbo person says "Yoruba" on a thread, they get banned, Infact I think a spambot has even been put in place just for this purpose. However visit the Igbo hate threads, we are slandered, maligned, booed, made fun of with reckless abandon. Only today, a thread was put on the front page with only the original post on it with no replies because it involved an Igbo man and ritual killing.
The incumbent Eze has shown that he is incapable of tackling this menace. He has kept mum and allowed this to go on for too long unabated.. This has got to stop. We are the most organised ethnic group on this forum and hence we can't sit by and allow this to continue..

Ladies and gentlemen, gone are the days when we kept quiet and allowed a few misguided elements decide our future... Gone are the days when we sat back and allowed the Super mods of Nairaland use us to gather traffic to their site.. TOGETHER WE BUILT THIS HOUSE.. COME TOMORROW, WE ARE GOING TO TEAR IT DOWN.. Enough is Enough.. This is why democracy was formed, to guard against power drunk authoritarians.

Ichie Okija juju Eze Mmuo of Nairaland
My Observations:

Just for the purpose of a Campaign (where anything goes!), the above will suffice but lets have a reality check:

The word "Yoruba" (even though you know it is derogatory and bigoted to Yorubas),has been used on this particular thread, to describe Yorubas, over twenty times, by Igbos!
......and no one was banned for it!

As an "independent Observer".... my truth-o-meter says YOU LIED! shocked shocked

Again, how can you say that NLand Mods are using "Igbos" to gather traffic on Nland?
What kind of unguarded statement is that? Does it not smack of "ingratitude"?

Dont other tribes also comment on Nairaland?
Dont you benefit from using Nairaland?
Dont you air your views on Nairaland?
Are you paying a penny to Seun (Ofomannu!, right?) for using his site as a campaign medium?
Dont you get "social benefits" like meeting friends on Nland?
Even this election you are "kicking over", is it not call "Eze ndigbo of Nairaland"? Did you pay any "royalty" to the "ofomannu' of a man whose sweat and blood sustains the site?
Yet you are here complaining about "traffic"?
How wont there be "traffic" when you posted at least three replies/protest/campaign on EVERY PAGE on Nairaland?
grin grin

Biiko, l am an "Observer" ... and cannot be personally involved! wink

So, today, Nairaland is a "good platform' for you to air your grievances, talk about how you are sidelined and discriminated against but in your heart, because it is owned by one "Yoruba", you harbor the intention to tear it down? No now, It should not be like this!

And by the way, is it not time we do away with this rabid hatred of each other?

Yoruba hate Igbos, Igbos hate Yoruba? Our worst enemies, bla-bla-bla! angry angry
Why must we campaign and win elections on the "Platform of HATRED of other tribes"?

When other nations (Brazil, China, e.t.c) are using their "diversity' as a source of strength and growth, we are using ours to breed hatred amongst ourselves?

When other people are forming "associations" to promote "Unity with and progress with others", we are using ours to cement "eternal discord and hatred?

Wetin sef? How have we elevated this kind of "mindset", to "an art"?
What will my own children (who have Igbo friends in school and know l have Igbo friends) think, if they come across this kind of evil that we spew online? What will your own children think of you, if they discover it is hatred and bigotry you stand for?

Yet we teach our kids to see and identify themselves as "Nigerians" (at least until its broken up, We all are first Nigerians!). Are we hypocrites or just living a double lives?

The bad thing about this internet and digital age is that "whatever you say or do online", is always available to be used against you, even in the next three generations!

We may think we are anonymous but if truth be said, we are not COMPLETELY ANONYMOUS!
A few people know me in real life, who also know a few people, who themselves are known by a few people ..... and it goes on like that, that we all know or will know anyone we are really keen on knowing! Thus the need to exercise restraint on this "racial hatred thingy"

Let us all re-check our values as humans, as Nigerians and as "Brothers".

[s]@Odunnu: I did not say l cant read naah?
I even quoted what the Chief INEC officer said about the voting method.
Read my question again (The WHY's) and provide answers if you can or let the person who is in capacity to know (as the Chief INEC officer: PointB) answer and provide clarification.[/s]

The above part is nOW edited due to new information that l just "observed" now!
wink

@PointB:

For the avoidance of doubt, l am interested in WHY the election should employ "manual" when other less noble ideals have used "electronic" on this same Nairaland.

*Is it "Seun" that have refused to activate the voting option? (if and when asked!)
*Is it those who should "ask him" that are too proud to ask him?

[s]
Again, the issue of "One Naira's" nomination and "where is he" has been conveniently ignored? WHY?
Moreso, PointB, you said "my request for "observer status" is under consideration"?
well, its 20:15 already .....and it is still under consideration, since page 25!? huh WHY?[/s]

Also editted for the same reason above!
The edited issues have beee resolved by "PointB" accordingly.

PointB: Where is he?
As an "unbiased and independent OBSERVER", l recall that a few people have nominated 'others' and then went on to ask you to INFORM them by P.M.
You accepted the nomination but insisted that the one doing the nominating should go ahead and inform the nominated person!
You did not ask: Where is he/she. (with regards to One Naira's nomination)
Why are you doing that now?
Is it a change of rules that you need to know their whereabouts before accepting the nomination?

Just want you to clarify that.
Mind you, my position is to see that the process is true, consistently-free and fair to all parties involved as l have no friend or foe amongst them!

As you know, you dont like a so-called "ofomannu" like me! kiss wink

BTW: What is happening to my "official accreditation which you said is UNDER CONSIDERATION?
Again, why is everyone saying "electronic voting is INACTIVE but no one has told us if "SEUN" has refused to activate it, IF AND WHEN ASKED TO DO SO?

This so eerily strange?
But as an "observer", l am not permitted to say more than this. The onus is on you to provide clarification.

PointB: PROPOSED VOTING GUIDELINES

Since the Poll feature of Nairaland is currently inactive, the Eze Ndi Igbo Election will be conducted in the following way:

1. Election shall be done manually. Voters will indicate the candidate they are voting as Eze and Eze Nwayi from the list of qualified candidates.
4. Multiple votes, and votes cast with known multiple IDs shall be counted as ZERO
(0)
I raised the issue of "Electronic Voting" in order to prevent fraud like multiple voting and you, the INEC officer "PointB" said the "bridge would be crossed" at the appropriate time.
Are you still standing by your word on this?

Many people have asked you to explain how you hope to achieve point number 4, without appearing to favor a particular candidate?

Since the "online voting system" has been used even for less altruistic ventures on NL, what does it cost you to approach SEUN (I know he is "Yoruba" as well grin) to "activate" it for this purpose?

Or does this have to do with that silly "tribal-E-war" as well?
Or is it just plain arrogance (to ask "an Yoruba"! for such favor)?

Dont forget the whole thingy is "on and about Nairaland" and he owns Nairaland! shocked shocked
You know, on this issue of Lolo Ndi Igbo, I couldnt quite understand it myself.

Will she be a member of the Eze Ndi Igbos council?! If yes!! Then thats a Taboo in our tradition as women cant be a part of the Ezes council.

And also, lolo is not an office in Igboland, but a name used to address a 'titled' mans wife or the wife of the Eze..

The truth is that that office was absolutely unnecessary and is not in line with Igbo culture..

You did well..

Okija supports your decision..

Although I would have loved to see you slap the smug off of Onlytruth and PointBs faces when you win..
And that too, (with my "limited knowledge" of Ndigbo tradition), IS NOT part of Igbo culture!
How can you advocate a "Lolo" slapping the shyte out of "An Eze's" face? huh huh shocked shocked

Politics › Re: Eze Ndi Igbo Online Election 2012 - Nomination in progress by lastpage:
PointB: @Lastpage,

Thanks for your comment.

When we get to that bridge, be assured that we shall cross it.
Thank you PointB.
I make a request (about Observer Status, back then, a lot of pages behind), which l presume you read but decided to be "mute" about it!
I have made it very clear that l am "Yorobo" from the onset thus, l cannot be accused of "Trolling".

I appreciate what is going on and l think "the process" is really enlightening and thus educative.
I also "observed" your quote below:

PointB: The decision to disqualify him might not be unpopular especially among Yoruba folks who are use(ing) the opportunity to feign fake sympathy, but in the end, even though the Eze is symbolic we must do it right, we must protect it from wrong, and divisive characters. No shaking!
I want to assure you that we can differ on issues, ideas, opinions and all sort of things like "who should have done what" concerning the civil war, but in the end, l still see all of us as Nigerians first, then our "tribes", second!

I think a time will come when we can rise above "pettiness" in our dealings and not always look at each other with so much suspicion! By the way, l am also guilty of this, at times.

Like "Lady Ivy" has said, "Leadership" has to rise above tribal-mudslinging's" and l am surprised that you made such, one of your 'cardinal principles' for Eze Igbo NL qualification! What about "Leaders that build BRIDGES across ethnic lines"?

Dont you think such a leader (detribalized) would portend better for Ndigbo, than one that fuels tribalism?

In a wider perspective, l have pointed out in one of my previous post that "No one tribe can win a war (lets assume secession gets bloody, as in 1967) of secession without the support of "at least one other major tribe in Nigeria". Even if it does not and we go into "a vote", only one with "an ally or alliance" will carry the day since no one tribe is bigger or more than the other two!

Thus, this is the point where we need people that can "build bridges across ethnic divides" to lead us out of this contraption called Nigeria.

*Yorubas can NEVER win a secession bid out of Nigeria without the support of Igbos or Huasas
*Igbos have a better experience at what it means to have the support of another tribe anyways.
*Hausas might not be so eager right now but if something happens that gives them the edge or make staying-put impossible, they are stuck without the support of Yoruba or Igbo. SIMPLE!

A cursory look at the elections since 1999, will emphasize my postulations.
Just look at the "winners" on national level and tell me what you see.
Look at the "history" of Buhari as well, and you will see what l am saying.
Thus the critical nature of "bridge builders", as Leaders.

As per "Okija Juju", l do not hold any sympathy for him (you will agree he is quite a thorn in the flesh of "Yoruba folks" grin when it comes to tribal E-war!) but l am very much interested in "A Political process" which allows the Voters to directly decide their leader, without any form of "padding".

I think this is what other people (like Ekt Bear, Ndu Chuks, (Coogar), e.t.c) are saying as well.

They are not showing "fake sympathy" as you put it.

As it is, "outgoing Eze, OnlyTruth" has openly declared that he is not running again.... but still loiters on the Ballot box! huh
If odumchi is the only other candidate that has "accepted nomination, does it not makes it look like this is all "pre-planned in advance", since he would just get elected "by default"! huh huh ....especially when the only other person willing and ready to accept nomination (as at this moment) is getting "disqualified"!! huh

Others might just wrongly/rightly think this is just "a charade", that "Odumchi" is the selected candidate ab initio. (this is not to infer that Odumchi is not eminently qualified, going by what others have said about him)

But l am sure even "Odumchi" would have preferred to "flatten" Okija-juju at the "open polls" than to be elected by default!
There is so much confidence and joy in thrashing your opponent at a public vote; it gives energy to your administration, going forward because it "guarantees" that the majority are on your side!.

Well, its your election, its your people and its your show;

.... but this is being done on a "publicly available internet" and l feel it is a representation of "who we are, how we are and how we do it" to the outer and wider world!
I understand one should not take this things too serious, anyway. wink wink

I hail the process, l hail all the participants. kiss kiss

Cheers,

Sharrap there my friend! Mind yourself please.
Dont use that kind of foul language on Ikemba Ojukwu.
And that does not represent the position of Okija-Juju, even if you purport to support his candidacy!

Lastpage!

BTW: as an "independent observer" (though yet to be recognized since l am "Yorobo"! ...and not liked around here!), l have read the contributions of all and sundry.

People like PointB have stated why they feel Okija should not be allowed to contest.
Others like Coougar have also stated why they think he should contest.

In my own "observations", these are what l think
: (I am not even suggesting 'cos l dont really count in this)

*"Democracy" means "Let the people (a.k.a. VOTERS) decide! Not a few people ala Electoral Commission, otherwise, the whole purpose of "election by POPULAR VOTE", is defeated.

*Since Okija-Juju has committed so many "unforgivable Sins",

(a) How then does anyone think that he would win an election here? Or are we afraid that the position of the electoral committee does not represent that of the majority of the voters (who will decides who wins)?

Or
(b) are we saying the "VOTERS" are stewpid folks and cannot be trusted to make the "right decision" when it comes to making a choice?
Its either (a) or (b).

Common Sense dictates that he should be allowed to make "a fool" of himself, if actually, he is a fool.

*Again, if Democracy is all about "the people's choice", ... and quite a few people have spoken in favor of allowing Okija-Juju to be nominated; by refusing such voices, are you not saying that 'it is no longer democracy' (People's voice) as it should be? I "observe" that he was disqualified last year ....and asked to re-contest "next year"...; and the same "cycle" is being repeated again this year ....and being asked to wait till next year!

Finally, to have a truly credible election (unlike an Obachanjo-supervised election, mid-wived by our amiable Prof. Muri Iwuruwuru), you need to "accommodate dissent". Okija-juju is (like) dissent!

Bad dissent
=> He looses the election eventually.
Good dissent => he wins the election ultimately. (Either way, the voice of the people, will speak).

Is anybody afraid of the outcome of any of the two positions above?
if so, Go to the "ballot" and prove your point.

I speak from a point of "neutrality" on this particular election issue.
I begrudge no one nor admire any of the candidates. ....but l try to learn from other people, when l see them doing good things!

I have also noted that it was only Okija-juju that pointed out the fact that "the vote option" (which has worked on many voting exercise on NLand) is not "activated"! WHY IS THIS?

Why is the Election Committee silent on this?

I understand that we are in the 21st century and the only way to ensure fair-play and prevent rigging, is to "electronically" ensure that one man can only vote once!
Multiple i.d.'s will try to bastardize the electoral process but since their "i.p. address" will easily give them out, they can be easily identified! This is only possible using electronic voting!

Why is it so difficult to approach "SEUN" (l know he is an "Yoruba-Yoruba" but then, he is a good man at heart now, abi?) to activate that option, instead of saying we would use "manual system", which in my opinion, is a recipe for not just controversy and manipulation but can also render the exercise discredited!

Cheers and looking forward to an interesting election! kiss kiss

jide4lagos: ....

A source revealed that the absence of the Igbo senators might not be unconnected with the alleged internal wrangling within a section of Igbo political leaders.

The cultural fiesta, which was held at the Michael Okpara Square, Enugu, was organised by the Southeast governors of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States to mark the 80th birthday of Ekwueme.

It was observed that all the speakers agreed that it was high time Ndigbo rallied round Dr Ekwueme to lead them to the Promised Land, adding that Ndigbo should stop bemoaning the so called marginalisation as they were their own enemies.

The issues canvassed at the occasion were reiteration of the demand for creation of an additional state out of the present Southeast zone and 2015 President of an Igbo extraction.

“It is no surprise that you did not only rise to the height of your chosen profession of architecture, you also became Nigeria’s number two citizen as elected Vice President of the country.

Also Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State has described Ekwueme as a symbol of peace, unity and harmony in the country.

The governor in a release by his Chief Press Secretary, Abdulwahab Oba marking the 80th birthday celebration of Ekwueme, and made available to journalists in Ilorin on Saturday, also said that Ekwueme is a detribalised Nigerian

"Truly, you are an epitome of peace and unity in our nation", he said.

Eeehhee,
In an event like these, where my Igbo brothers would have come together to show solidarity for one of their own, especially a well-respected one (even across tribes!),
.....once again, "they chose to throw away the baby, with the bath water"!

How then can other tribes take them seriously? ....and 2015 or 2019 is just around the corner!

Small time now, they will 'write Book' and blame their failures on "AWOLOWO and Yorubas"!

Truly, "Igbos must stop moaning and whining about "Marginalization", they are the worst enemies of themselves!

"A House divided against itself they say, can never stand"!

Lets take a cue from the in this kind of thinking:
As much as Yorubas detest "Obachanjo"; .....they refused to vote for him in 1999.
it was with the votes of Northerners (mostly) and Igbos, that he became President.

But in 2003, when the Northerners wanted to "show-off" and deny him a second term (they said they made him and can un-make him!), the Yorubas, ever smart and calculating, knew this was the time to sheath their sword and support one of their own!...and He won a second term.

Lesson: Identify your "best interest", know when to use your "card" and dont let pettiness rob you of the "bigger Prize". Stop blaming others for your own ineptitude!
God bless Yoruba too much!

Every day for the Thief!

One day for the Owner!

But when caught on that "one day", "its always their FIRST TIME"! grin grin

In the "spirit of Christ", l would have expected that the church plead for leniency on his behalf (like a reduced sentence) if he can show that he is truly repented.

But why cant he just go to the Pastor or members of that church and "first" ask to be assisted?
If they refuse, then he might have a "little" justification ..... even before God who said we should help the needy!
HE might even just steal a small amount that would solve his immediate problem (like #500! grin ), just to show that he is not a "real thief" but just trying to "survive".

Awww, he thought he was smart and would not be caught!

I read that some years back in the "West", you could not be charged to court for stealing, "If" you took say some Groceries from the stall and walked up to the Till and showed the cashier that You want this stuff but wont pay for it because you had no money and you (or your kids) are hungry!

I hope Waurice Iwuruwuru will take a cue from here?

BTW: I want to submit to be represented as an "International Observer" of this great "Eze-Ndigbo of Nairaland" election process

You know, like any other "international election", foreign observers (Onyebeeke) usually come (l'll pay my own ticket naah) to give credibility to the whole process, the idea being that as a "neutral person" who has no vested interest in any of the parties involved, an "International Observers" opinion is highly valuable and respected! (dont even attempt to corrupt me angry )

I will consult "Seun" about this as well, since he has to be aware that an "Onyebeeke International Observer" is going to watch electoral matters on his Nairaland!

Dont worry about my "neutrality" ..... it is guaranteed 'cos I AM A NIGERIAN, of YORUBA extraction!,
"Seun" will also accede since he is Yoruba like me

Politics › Re: Chinua Achebe: Why Nigerians Hate Igbo by lastpage: 4:57am On Oct 22, 2012
Katsumoto: You miss the point. Ndigbo had every right to decide its own destiny.

Problem with the decision is just that, it was a decision. No effective planning took place; no alliances were sought.

Biafra could have waited until it was ready;
if the bid for secession was motivated by a desire not to remain in Nigeria.

But we know Ojukwu carried on with secession because Gowon did not implement one agreement from Aburi. Ojukwu demanded that the Nigerian Head of state not have the power to appoint or fire the regional governors. In other words, Ojukwu did not want to be fired by Gowon.

But the irony of that situation is that the people in each had the power to elect their governor until Igbo soldiers carried out the first coup. Remember that Ademulegun's pregnant wife was killed by Onwuategwu. Shodeinde's pregnant wife was also shot at but didn't die. Yet Yoruba folks exercised restraint.

No matter how you dice it, the fault always goes back to Ndigbo.
Let me just add a few lines to the 'highlighted' above:

My Igbo brothers might not like it but it is obvious that this "self-restraint" cum wisdom and clarity of "objective" is what the Igbos tag as "Cowardice" in the Yoruba!

The Yorubas could have gone to war over "June 12" but credit to them for knowing when to explore "other methods" to achieve the same objective, rather than go to war. War is not only expensive, it is brutal! Of course, the Igbos deride them as cowards, for not going to war! grin wink

We know who is the "coward" now, going by historical data (who lost a senseless war, at great expense, who is begging to produce a President, e.t.c)

The Igbos have a streak of "Gra-Gra" in them and seems to think that "physical Muscle-flexing" is the solution to all issues.
An Igbo man will quickly challenge you to a duel, not minding the outcome of such rash decision making. If and when thoroughly thrashed, he turns around to seek sympathy and blame everyone around for his failure ....least himself! huh huh

That same "gra-gra" was exhibited by Ojukwu, when he, as a "Military General", led his race to slaughter! he could have exhibited some wisdom (he stooped to conquer) and wait for the "right time" when all the 'chips are in his hand' but like anyone who swings a blow first, before thinking, those who use their brains out-foxed him in military maneuvers!

And his descendants are here whining on why we need to apologize to them, for his foolishness!

Its called "A War" and both side lost people! "The battle of Oore" saw to the death of many Yorubas, right? Why did Ojukwu not just defend his Biafra and not try "conquering" a Southern territory? ......and You expect a "Southern Icon" like Awolowo (someone credited with astute acumen!) to fold his hands and watch Ojukwu overrun his territory?
Get real please, that is not "hatred"; That is a "survival instinct and a necessity"!

In war, "all is fair", as they say.

People have pointed out severally that per-chance, if it was Awolowo that undid the "gra-gra" of the Igbos in the 60's, at least in the last 13-14years of democratic dispensation (not to mention the second Republic), the Igbos have been ruling themselves in the Eastern part of Nigeria yet, that part of Nigeria is the least developed till today?

Is Awolowo also responsible for you people's inability to manage your wealth and environment? Is Awolowo also to be held responsible for you people rushing to invest in your "enemy's territory"?
Or could it be that it is the same "wisdom and calmness of spirit" exhibited by your "coward brothers!(lol)" that is so welcoming, you cannot resist it!

Human nature cannot be easily changed but the Igbos must recognize that their "aggressive nature and unbridled greed/selfishness" is and will always be responsible for their downfall.

Even the Bible advices man to be "quick to listen but slow to act; be slow to anger".

A wise man will listen to criticisms (assuming he is too proud to look in the mirror!).... and make changes or adjust himself.

A self-conceited and arrogant fool will wallow in self delusion of grandeur (we are better than everyone else!) while pointing fingers at others, for his failures ....this is the quagmire of the Igbos, (metaphorically speaking).

The earlier they recognize it, the better and quicker they would start achieving their latent potentials.
Its a very 'thin line' between 'courage and arrogance'.
