alj harem: one would agree with me that this man is an IDEEEEIOT. Take it or leave it

I usually don't insult icons but this achebe of a man is a big mumu. Ideeiot
I am dumbfounded!
I read Achebe's novel some 30+ years ago, in Secondary School.
Millions of Nigerians (Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, e.t.c) read his books in our school (especially Things Fall Apart) and we all regard him as a national (not Igbo!) icon.
In fact, l "use to" put him on the same pedestal with the likes of Wole Soyinka,Cyprian Ekwensi, people we all can truly look up to.
I just dont understand WHY he would stoop to this low level.

*What is he "trying" to achieve?
*"Elders" are supposed to be unifying force, ....not causing dissent and mischief or hatred and bad blood.

Can anyone imagine a personality like Nelson Mandella uttering this sort of gibberish?

I am still in shock!
At what age does someone become senile?
What does he stand to gain, at his current age and "state", to stir ethnic hatred among his own people?
Abi he wants to become President of "future" Biafra?

Really, that he was considered not fit enough (on the international arena) to win a Nobel Laureate, is now "obvious and clear"

...and the reasons he adduced are so silly you will have to agree that the man is "mentally broken"!
Imagine: Yorubas are held down by culture? So the Igbos dont have their own culture too?

l will suggest that other Nigerian Nationalities completely ignore what the "respected" Prof.(and l really feel sad that he has to end his days in so much ignominy and opprobium!) is preaching ...and just consign it to the dustbin, while attributing it to some "old-age" mental failure.

The Igbos, like any other Nigerian tribe, knows what is wrong with them.
Let them remove the Log from their own eyes before trying to remove the spec from the eyes of other nationalities.

Only a "weakling" (in the true sense of the word) keeps attributing his or her failure to another person.
The Igbos are "who and what" they chose to become. Simple.

Lastpage!

BTW: Is it still "morally correct" to allow our kids and adolescents to read the literal works of the Prof, in our schools?
Now, knowing what he stands for! I think all Western states should take the bull by the horn and ban his books in our schools. Whether the North will do same, l dont know....

BTW:
At least two of her friends have stated here that they tried to warm her the guy was a fraud.... and she told them off or deleted them from her FaceBook page!
*What manner of a person "deletes her friend" on FBook, simply because they told her the TRUTH about her lover?

Again, for someone who has just lost a husband and has a sick child.
Why would she be charged with "Vehicular Homicide" (just like "murder" but using a vehicle!) ....and jailed for it!
*If she was not guilty?..... and probably too drunk to be at the steering wheel?

Can we assume that her drink-driving (the only reason that charge will stick!) is the cause of her daughters death? Let the 'judge' decide.

Now, she did not seek love from people she knows very well but went of a "faceless" FaceBook!
What do you expect when you fall in love with faceless strangers?

Anyway, l think she has gotten over it NOW...

......Or was she not the one asking people to donate "Okrika" to her?

AjanleKoko: I knew someone was gonna come up with the reputation thing. It can't be just that.

There are a lot of Nigerians in the diaspora at least, even if we exclude Nigerians living in Nigeria. And, if we look at our local market, the Nigerian aviation industry is one of the oldest in Africa. We've got tons of qualified aviation professionals with lots of experience. We should be exporting these people, if I judge by other industries. We have exported tons of energy professionals to all parts of the globe, and we've also exported telecom engineers (considering mobile comms is less than two decades old in Naija!)

There must be something else.
"Nigerian Aviation Industry"? Which one are you referring to, please?
My brother, Access bank would not kill job seekers with this funny bond. My wife signed that bond in 2009 after training school at Ikeja and left the bank the next year. Guess what??

They collapsed the 2M bond into her account which she already emptied and since then, it has been accruing debit interest. I wrote them a stinker and challenged them to take her to court but yet they have decided to take it on the guarantor who has equally asked them to seek redress in court.

I am still waiting for them . . .
You see, any MUPPET can draw-up a bond when the other party "has no choice"!

it is called AGREEMENT UNDER DURESS! Null and Void .....
Shikenna! grin

"Confessions" get contested in court and are thrown in the dustbin (despite the Signature written in blood!)! grin
How much more that of a "vulnerable job starter" who can easily show that he/She was under pressure to sign and not to sign would simply mean "no-employment"!

Ab initio, that "Bond" should never be a "condition of employment" because training new employee is "given", anywhere!
You are not doing them a favor by training them, you train them so they can perform "better at the duty you give them and you therefore reap the benefit".

Thus, since no one can "create or derive legality" (suing for the 2milla) out of an illegality (the signed bond), the employer suit will simply be thrown out in court.

Any "baby lawyer" who actually studied his books in school will finish that bank, if they ever go to court.

Bottom line is: Not every "signed document" is enforceable in court. Copy That please.

If the issue at stake is "poaching of staff", the labor market is "competitive" and you need to up your game in terms of staff emolument, to retain staff, not by forcing some silly bond on them.

The example of "a company paying your college fees" is a silly one, like comparing orange and Apples!
"College fees" is to attain "educational qualification" (you will still need to be trained when you start work), while "on the job training" is to "increase worker productivity" in particular line of a company's business. Very different.

frosbel: Lastpage , sorry this is where we differ, GOD never had a spiritual SON.

His SON came into being when conceived by MARY and eventually born as a MAN.
...and what and where was "His Son" BEFORE he came "into being"?

"In the beginning was "The Word" (Jesus)..."The word" was with God,.....and the word was "a" God!. "He" (Jesus) was with God in the beginning. (John 1:1-2)

Concerning Jesus, the Bible explains further in (John 1: 10): He was in the world, though THE WORLD WAS MADE THROUGH HIM => Jesus was God's co-worker in making the world.

Recall at the "beginning" when God said: Let "US" make man in "OUR OWN" image! He was talking to a "co-worker". The "co-worker" as shown in the passage above (John 1:10) is no one else but JESUS, the son of God, the "Morning Star", the "first born" of all creation1

Also note;in (John 1: 14) "The Word" (Jesus) became FLESH and made his dwelling amongst us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the "One and Only" WHO CAME FROM THE FATHER

So you see, we need not differ on anything "Biblical", we just need to AGREE with The Bible ....the "constitution and Dictionary" of God! kiss kiss

Just take your time to read through those passages and "connect them together".
I pray God will give you wisdom and understanding.

What am l reading here?
First, l am a Christian and no bullshyte here.

What has Iran done to the whole western world to deserve this harassment?
Okay, its trying to develop Nuclear Weapons?
Did anyone notice in that quote above that the Israelis, who have never accepted having Nuclear Weapons, mentioned something about a "Nuclear facility" at Dimona?

So, it is okay for Israel to own Nuclear Weapons, but not okay for Iran? How stewpid and self-centered can that be?

If you feel threatened by someone, what do you do? Beef up your own defense system as well.
Israel started the "arms race" in the middle East, now that it has acquired its own Nuclear power, it wants to be riding rough-shod over others in the middle east?

The only reason "Apartheid" still subsists in Palestine
is because Israel is the only super-power there and no one can challenge it.

Just imagine what the U.S would have done to smaller countries if not for China (of late) and Russia/USSR as before?

The Israel of today is just "Israel in name", it has no single bearing to the "Spiritual Israel" of the Bible
.
They are not even Christians, their religion is Judaism!
They dont even read the Bible, their own Book is "The Torah"!

So, whats all this silly solidarity that Nigerian Christians have for Israel? Ignorance, right?

Is it not strange when a Nuclear armed country "cries that it is afraid" of another nation that has no nuclear weapons or just trying to develop one?

Even at that, why cant we all be fair, in our judgement of the situation?

Right now, did anyone notice how Israel and U.S/NATO are trying to push Turkey to attack Syria?
what they could not achieve in the Security Council, they want to achieve through the back door.

Its not Syrian military that is shelling Turkey, we all know its the Rebels, acting on U.S instruction, just to justify Turkey (and NATO by Proxy!) invading Syria, for a regime change1

Libya is still burning till today, Iraq is still in flames, Pakistan is still in ashes!
Why must these Westerners create carnage all over the world?

I must concede however, the Israeli are very smart. They made a "mugu" of Americans...and it seems they made one of my Nigerian brothers as well, judging by all the comments above! grin grin

Israel is so smart it uses "others" to do its dirty work!........ and cries WOLF at the same time! grin

By God, even just for the sake of the Palestinian children being murdered daily by the Israeli war machine, that Iran or any other Nation in the Middle East, develops Nuclear Power/Weapons, to put these Israeli murderers in check!
That is the only thing that would lead to freedom for the Palestinians......Habaa, since 1940's?

God must triumph over Evil, one day, no matter how long.
Christianity Etc › Re: Dilemma : Is GOD a Trinity by lastpage: 10:47pm On Oct 08, 2012
stagger: God forbid that I will use the brain of my fellow man to explain his nature. God the Father, Son and Holy Ghost are one and the same. That said, the word "Trinity" was never used in the bible and is a man-made word used to describe the tripartite nature of God.

Mr OP, good luck to you on your exposition.
No Bros,
The "one and the same" of that statement does not refer to a "physical attribute" but to a "purpose of intention".
If you permit me, l will elaborate further:

*God is the Father, creator and to whom worship is directed to, BY ALL.

*Jesus is the spiritual son of God
, who God sent to the earth, to redeem us from inherited sin, that his "purpose for us, ab inito" might be resuscitated and accomplished.
Thats why his "perfect and sinless blood" needs to be shed to compensate for the "goof" of Adam and Eve, who were also perfect beings..... till they sinned!
A case of "like for like".

*Holy Ghost is a spirit
, (not a physical entity), it is the "medium or force of power" through which God accomplishes things. It can take different form as God wants.....and that is what Jesus promised to send to his Disciples, to "comfort and strengthen" them (who were afraid for their safety by then) after his departure (death on the cross), on the day of Pentecost.

Now, to "marry the three different and separate entities"
above:

If God wants to do any "physical work", He does not come down but sends his "Holy Spirit" to accomplish it. Dont forget, God Himself is a SPIRIT.

Jesus was also sent to accomplish God's purpose on earth (He too being a Spiritual being in the heavens, before he put himself forward (Father, send me!) to come in the "form" of man); that purpose was to redeem man.
And God was said to be very happy with him that He proclaimed: This is my ONLY begotten son, HEAR HIM; Whosoever shall ask for anything in the name of Jesus, if he so believes, receives it; Let every knee bow down in the name of Jesus and let every tongue profess in the name of Jesus.

Finally, we have seen how the three "work together (for a common purpose) BUT are not the same or EQUAL'!
They all work for a COMMON PURPOSE..... God's PURPOSE.

In these manner, we may "metaphorically" say, they are EQUAL and THE SAME ..... just metaphorically speaking!

I hope l was able to shed some light on this.

Cheers,

I guess in four engine planes, the failure of one engine or even two (one of each pair on either side), can still be managed by an experienced Pilot.

But most of our local flights use two engine planes (one on each side) and the failure of one will cause so much "roll" that the plane would 95% of the time, CRASH.

if we want to make comparisons, lets compare like with like.
Now show me how many single engine planes (one on each side) survived an engine failure while fully airborne?

That plane should have been properly checked before passengers board...... and the problem detected earlier.

If that has been done, all these "fear and near mishaps" could have been avoided.
