Romance › Re: Can You Go Down On Your Knees To Beg A Man Not To Leave? by lastpage: 4:16am On Mar 21, 2012
Let me relate a "situation" where "kneeling to beg" can change a man's mind, even if it was already made-up and where it did not change naada (just laugh over it and move-on)

1.)This elderly man with grey hairs was driving dangerously by my side and l rolled down and informed him to be careful but he answered with a torrent of insults. He kept on aggressively (the typical Lagos Driver grin ) but l kept my cool, knowing my position is lawful and sound. Eventually, he pulled down my front bumper, broke one head lamp and bruised the paint work as he overtook me dangerously! Even at that, his "shakara" was up to the heavens! Traffic Police came and though it was very obvious, he was told he was in the wrong and has to bear the cost. At the station, I called-in my mechanic for a "cost of repair estimate" (the old man's vehicle no even get comprehensive insurance!). When he saw the Bill, he suddenly fell flat on his face, begging me! he started this story of how he was just hustling to make a living for his family.
I refused to b e moved knowing how recalcitrant he has been and how much l warned him.
But he would not stop holding my feet (with him prostrating in front of all in the Police Station!
At this point, all l could do was look down on him from my standing position.
All of a sudden, something inside me "clicked" and l shook my head and asked him to stand up.
It was like okay, he appears wretched and what would l do to him now? The Police were willing to seize his vehicle until he could come-up with the money (about 45K plus labor). A lot was going thru my mind and eventually, l succumbed to the "kneeling and begging" even though l was very furious initially.

What l am pointing out here is that YES, some act of sincere remorse like"kneeling and begging when you're wrong, can actually melt a spouse heart in a situation where your mind was already made-up, after-all, no one is perfect. You will forgive and eventually with time, you will overcome the grief (assuming the other party is sincere/ honestly remorseful and not "just scheming" ) after which, with time, you will "forget" the incident.

To the other part of the question: Any one (man/woman) who is hell-bent on leaving, will leave, no mater the amount of rolling on the floor. The difference between this "state" and the first is that, in the first, your decision to leave was based on "anger for what the other party did" and as such, "kind words and sincere remorse" is the "antidote" you are actually expecting. It is adequate.

The second state is such that you have actually "considered" your decision and how the other party will respond (begging) and you have actually zeroed your mind that you will "block your mind and spirit" to its effect (to calm you down) because your "initial goal" was to leave, what happened was just an excuse to actualize your intention in a "justifiable manner". But the begging party does not know your actual intention!

In final analysis, if you wrong your spouse, (of it they claim so), be humble for the sake of the relationship, the past good times, the kids if any, and the future; beg seriously, if need be, kneel/prostrate (depending on the severity of the offense) just to bring things back to normalcy. (I have seen where wife was begging husband for a serious offense and husband burst into tears, begging wife also.....and they lived happily thereafter again! kiss grin )...asked later why he was crying at that moment when he was supposed to be "blowing hot", he said "he realized that his marriage was just "seconds away from crashing beyond repair" and that he appreciated what his wife did to save the marriage at that moment

Whether they accept the plea or not, is their prerogative, their choice! But l know that "Love overcomes all mistakes".
Except if the love is dead ab-initio

T22.
From the look of things, the fire is actually burning on the second floor (Area around Dr. Edward's office in those days (you know the Baba that "talks and winks at you" at the same time grin at the lecture theatre! I bet he is no longer around anymore.) but being carried by convection currents, upwards.
Its the Biological Sciences Labs that are on the third of that rights sides of the Complex. Physics Lab is actually on ground floor but at the other end.

How is Dr. Boyo doing? Is Dr Akinrimisi still in Physics depts? What about the almighty "youngest Prof" in those days (The HOD, Prof Femi something, cant remember now)I heard "Super Ted" crossed to Computer Sciences?
Good Faculty, Nice lecturers (only Dr. Ameachi wasn't much liked when he just came-in, back then. l hope they still maintain the standards up till now?

All these "modern-day women" that do "shakara" all over the place, please dont beg your man when you wrong him, your replacement is already waiting at the door!

Anyway, "upbringing" is a major factor in how we reason as adults!
I dont expect less in a society where most ladies are brought up by "single mothers", (na the same "arrogance of the heart" cos their Mama to be single mother in the first place naah!)

As for me, l will kneel and beg my wife, if that is what it takes to keep our marriage and home intact (and for the well-being of our children) should l wrong her badly!

Pride they say, goes before a fall! " A "wise woman" keeps her home (with humility to her husband) while the foolish woman destroys her home (with arrogance and "sharp tongue"wink!
No wonder some women dey end up in Nursing home, dying of loneliness at old age! grin

Which is better: That l beg "my wife" on my knees (abi l will become a statue in that position for ever?) and we enjoy our life till old age (she sef go kneel-down if need be wink wink )

Or: that we use arrogance and pride take scatter the family, lock-down our collective progress and destabilize our children's well-being?

Anyway sha, some of you Gaals never know "wetin gwan", get married first and come back to tell us "how far"! wink wink

jp philips: my opinion about Sanusi has never changed till he proves otherwise

I asked this because I am an ardent follower of events in the economic parlance and the pragmatism of sanusi’s economic agenda eludes me.

This is a man who inherited a banking sector which according to Business day 2006 edition averred that for every five Nigerians with a good job, three are bankers.
Today, we have a Sanusi who in his usual voodoo economic jingoism has created more unemployment and inefficiency in the banking sector than the military junta.
Who is this man Sanusi?

Here comes our Sanusi with his usual voodoo economic theories and political economic jingoism.
Destroyed the first instrument of perception which soludo fought so hard to preserve by coming on National television to announce that most banks are not healthy. You know the end of the story. Till date we lost one of the most viable sectors of this economy, we lost meaningful employments and international confidence in our banking industry in its entity, thanks to Sanusi’s voodoo economic theories and mystic economic solutions.

I ask again; who is this Man Sanusi and his mission in this country?

Sanusi and Allison madueke are doing a great disservice to this nation though I don’t expect Mr. President to fire them because he is too incompetent to read the hand writings on the wall.
Thank you very much for this piece.
Some peeps have wondered why the "Trial Run" is in Lagos and not Abuja where LawBreakers exchange Cash for favors? Others also wondered why he did nt start this in Kano (instead of the Nations economic hub that is Lagos), at least if it fails like most of his "thoughtless policies", its effect will be minimal compared to collapsing the economy of Lagos!

*Where is the "stable Broadband" internet to carry the financial data online? Is it the epileptic ...that is sold to us as "Broadband"?
*Where is the stable electricity to "power" devices that would sustain this cashless society in Lagos or are we to do it on "i-better-pass-my-neighbor" Generators running expensive PMS and Diesel?
*What about the availability of POS, at what additional cost to the Small business man like a bricklayer (Mason) that has to pay workers at the end of the day or the Block-maker, Cement Seller?
Must he run the economy on a "Trial-and-Error" basis, like a kindergarten?

That Sanusi chose Lagos for this his inept test-run is further confirmation of what everyone has been saying: He is Destroying the economic base of the South of Nigeria.
Who owns most of the banks he destroyed? Southerners! (even when his Northern bank has not been stressed-tested at all, he went on air to list Southern-owned banks as distressed!)

Though l hate to point it out, but it is becoming impossible to ignore Sanusi's ethnic agenda!

Apart from been bereft of any cogent idea that can lift the economy, this man is a "suicide-waiting to happen".
As clueless as Jonathan is, even him should be able to at least "observe" that inflation, cost of living, e.t.c is on the rise while infrastructure and any form of development is on the wane or is he not a PhD holder? angry huh huh.

This country is really screwed, from all holes!

Now, you could pour all the water you want on the "outside shell" of the building, until you extinguish the core of the fire(inside the building), you are just wasting water.
If you've done a fire training and use of Extinguishers, you will have been told that you direct the extinguisher to the "base" (inside) of the fire, inside the office in this case. Bush man! grin grin

Christianity Etc › Re: To Become A Nigerian Pastor: What Qualification Is Needed? by lastpage: 8:45am On Mar 19, 2012
SegzyJoe: Your mistake is to think that academic qualification could substitute for anointing. Unfortunately, God is not looking for the qualified, He only need the available. It is the same way and reason why Jesus looked for the uneducated like Peter and others who were shine lights at the expense of the well read, learned Pharisees, Sadducis among others. God looks for those that make themselves available, the weak, illiterate, even the mr nobody. God likes to use nothing to bring out something. That is why it pleased God to use the simplicity of the gospel to save mankind, instead of subjecting salvation to rigorous academic and intellectual debates. Qualification to be a pastor is not about academic pedigree, it is about the book of life, the bible and the Holy Spirit.
Thank you jare, Pastor SegzyJoe! Preach for them and let them hear it. Preach Pastorrr!! kiss kiss
They think "academic qualification" is what God needs!
Did God not said: I will give whosoever l choose? Did He not say "Jacob l love yet Esau l hate"?
See Peter - Fisherman of zero education! Dont count Paul for now, that one was a criminal before he got born-again joor! grin
Have Faith and Believe, Your miracle is on the way!
;;;;;
;;;;;
;;;;;
Hmmm....Problem is that:
*Jesus, Peter and the other Apostles did not acquire massive wealth like our "chosen and available" Nigerian Pastors, of modern time!
*Peter, John nor Paul did not perform fake miracles! shocked
* Emmm...Jesus did not rob from the poor by making them pay him "owo-ile" (like those Lagos Area Boys), he did not threaten them with hell-fire if they dont donate their last dime so that he can live-large!
*Jesus nor any of his Apostles did not take advantage of widows or single women! kiss Our modern day pastors are just too randy!

*Unlike Paul or any of the disciples of Jesus, they earned their living by having their secular work! They did not feed-fat on Tithe! grin Even in the Old testament whence Tithe was ordered, it was eaten in a "celebration in God's presence", by those who brought it! wink The ones set aside for the "Temple workers" was done for a reason which no longer exists: Animal Sacrifice.
But our modern day Pastors are too greedy to let that "income stream" die naturally! They will recite Malachi till kingdom come! grin
Even Jesus never paid Tithe, but he paid Tax!

*The Apostles gave all they have and followed Jesus but our modern day "called and available" Pastors just acquire more and more while fleecing the poor in their congregation. How does a "Man-of-God" stand at the alter and watch a Poor widow give her everything, knowing that it is part of what he uses to live a flamboyant life-style? Dem no get conscience?

*Jesus did not threaten that widow that gave her "widow's mite"(she gave it freely without harassment!). Our Pastors of today use fear and intimidation to collect every last penny in the pocket of the foolish members! grin

*Jesus did not dine with thieves and murderers. Our Pastors of today have this habit of hobnobbing with those who impoverish this country and make millions of children die of preventable diseases! They will "pray for them", lay hands on them and give them "high sits" on the alter, for a share of their loot! Both the Thief and the "receiver of stolen goods", are THIEVES

So Bros, l think the comparison did not work! Better Luck next time! wink
But seriously, 99% of Nigerian Pastors are FRAUDS, especially those abroad!

@Daresh:
First, no need to get agitated and insulting, try and maintain some decency in your post! Like you, other people are entitled to voice their opinion.
By the way, did it ever occur to you that "the part about her 12yr old boy saying what you are "acting on", might just be "MADE-UP", to generate sympathy for her story and paint the husband as a Devil? Did you hear it from "the son" himself or have you heard from the accused husband? if you were a Judge in a court of law, is this how you would sentence a man to death-row, based on "just the word" of his accuser? Think again and factor-in "human nature"! wink

And l am surprised you suggested you will poison the "father of your children"!
First, that makes you a murderer and possibly you get life in Prison or the Gas Chamber. wink
Secondly, you cant "manufacture" another father for those children and believe me, they would not 'clap for you' in return; it will only convince them that you're the one stoking the trouble all the time!
In that case, the children would have lost both parents (through your action: is this in the best interest of such children, who will now be scattered and fostered by strangers?)
Two Wrongs will never make a Single Right.

Another thing l find ridiculous is this:

(Time for Expenses on the children)
Wife, to her husband: So you cant provide for YOUR children? YOUR children need this and that!

(When there is a misunderstanding in the family/marriage)

Wife, to husband: I will leave with MY children. You must not come near MY children! MY children! MY children!! MY children!!!

Question: What suddenly turns "YOUR" children, into "MY" children?
I thought the children belonged to both of them and whoever decides to "elope or take a walk", should be the one visiting the family home to see the children?
Do l sense a "gender-discrimination" here? Just wondering o! huh huh

I have read a few posts up there where peeps advised the woman "to leave with HER CHILDREN so as to protect them"!
I ask: protect them from whom? Their FATHER?

If there was violence, its obvious its between the "husband and wife", not between "father and children or mother and children".
If you talk about the "psychological effect of the violence" on the children then you must concur that all you need to do, to stem that violence, is to remove "one of the parties" to the violence, (wife in this case, if she chose to leave or divorce) but it does not extend to removing the children from the home, as well.
Consider a situation where she decides to live separately from the husband ( assuming he is beating her winkand not the other way round), who then will he fight, once she is out of the equation? NOBODY!

Thus, the children would not witness any further violence in that situation and there is no need to pretend that taking them along will protect them from violence.

The truth of the matter is that women use "taking MY children" as a weapon, a "psychological weapon" against their husband, to punish and traumatize him further.
The result is that a "separation" which could have been possibly reconcilable (when both partners calm down), now becomes a bitter-to-death fight" over custody and assets sharing (since who keeps the children gets to be paid maintenance! wink wink

If your children as still with their father, you will get to 'visit them' and men being what they are (easily forgiving), might just throw an arm around you, one day! grin grin But if you "punish him" by taking away his children (or even barring him access to them as is the standard practice of "our westernized women" who live abroad), you have deliberately hit him where it hurts and he should be expected to be bitter as long as that situation persists and any possibility of reconciliation is erased!

The is one of the reasons that make "Oyinbo men" very "suicidal and desperate" to the point of killing everyone including himself.

We should also not forget that in the West, divorce is "two-for-ten cent" to the point that you would wonder if they really loved themselves!
How do you explain a man or woman marrying and divorcing five times (Serial Monogamy)? But they see nothing wrong in it, seems it is their culture, just like the African sees nothing wrong in marrying two wives simultaneously! (Polygamy).

At the end of the day, each man/woman has conjugated with more than "one spouse" in their life-time.

I hope spouses would find a way to iron-out issues, in a mature way that would into result into physical violence.
Consider that "TWO cannot 'walk together' (stay married) except THEY AGREE" but how can they agree when each wants to be 'a Captain' of the same Boat?
It is common-sense that Airplanes has one Pilot/Captain (and a "supporting" or assistant Pilot), Ships have one Captain, Companies/Corporate entities have one CEO/COO/Managing Director why not the marriage Boat or Institution?

Lets sit back and think.

Romance › Re: 12 Years Of Unhappy Marriage by lastpage: 9:58am On Mar 18, 2012
WHY I DISLIKE COMMENTING ON MARITAL ISSUES ON NAIRALAND?

1.) Read the comments and you will see a pattern of sex-ism in most comments!(women run-down men while defending their folk and vice-versa).

2.) There is a general assumption by MOST WOMEN that ONLY a man is capable of "battering" his spouse but EVIDENCE world-wide proves otherwise. Both Husband and wife are capable of violence in a marriage.

3.) People who have no clue of what marriage looks like, people whose "greatest experience" of what marriage travails are, is "reading it from a book" or doing some "academic" course in school, are suddenly turning into "Marriage Counselors"! huh grin .
"Walk the Walk" before you "Talk the Talk". Experience is not bought nor read somewhere, it is "EXPERIENCED" in real life! wink

4.) Folks have this annoying habit of jumping to conclusions, and it is even worse when they do so, just from hearing from ONLY ONE of the parties involved!. How do you expect a "scorned woman" or a "jealous husband" to give you a true and fair account of events
, when they are the ones narrating the story? (l still remember the story of that lady, a few months ago, who came here and ran down her husband and the "counselors" pounced on him like 'Hyena on raw meat'! only for her to realize and apologize for her one-sided story!) Lessons should be learned from such 'experience' now, abi?

5.) Whether you like it or not, CULTURE, (Nigerian Culture for that matter) plays an important part in any marriage. For example, it is the culture of the "White Man" to be driven away from the family home and children taken from him (given o the wife) when the family breaks down, to burn/annihilate the whole family when "he cant take anymore of it, e.t.c. while it is the culture of the Nigerian man to retain the family home, drive the wife away when family breaks down, keep and maintain the children, e.t.c. (l am not condoning either culture, just "laying it on the table"wink
In each case, it is "how is done in our environment" (our culture) and hardly do you hear (at least not with the same level of occurrence)that a Nigerian man sets fire to himself and his children, simply because his wife denied him access to them. Its just not in our system/culture.
In essence, to say culture has no impact in a marriage, is to be very naive.

Since there are always "two-sides" to every Coin and "Kind words allays anger", every "marriage complainant" must also tell us their own contribution to the failure of such marriage or what triggers such violence in the marriage and the part they played in exacerbating it beyond repair.

If all you want is just a "rubber-stamp" of your "intentions" or you just need that "feel-good" factor when others bash your spouse for you, then Nairaland is your best destination. You are welcome! kiss grin

Fingers crossed for now. lipsrsealed lipsrsealed

http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/03/derivation-and-deprivation-why-the-north-is-poor/
By Ross Alabo-George
ACCORDING to official figures, the leading oil producing state, Rivers, received N1,053 billion between 1999 and 2008 in federal allocations. By contrast the North-eastern states of Yobe and Borno, where the Boko Haram sect was created, received N175bn and N213bn respectively. Broken down on a per capita basis, the contrast is even starker. In 2008 the 18.97m people who lived in the six states in the north-east received on average N1,156 per person.

“By contrast Rivers State was allocated N3,965 per capita, and on average the oil producing South-South region received on average N3,332 per capita. This imbalance is compounded when the cost of an amnesty programme for militants in the delta is included together with an additional 1 per cent for a special development body for the Niger Delta. To boot, the theft of oil by profiteers in the region diverts tens of millions more weekly from federal coffers. – Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.

YES, forget these per capita figures! I agree the North is poor. Yes, I agree the poverty has bred millions of destitutes, who have become instant and easy recruits for Boko Haram. But my question is: Who impoverished the North?

A caveat: I am an unabashed capitalist who believes that every citizen has a right to do good business and make profit. I salute hard work and do not disparage honest efforts. However, uncompassionate capitalism driven by pulleys of aristocracy breeds a brutal class order worthy of condemnation.

In my last article titled – ‘El Rrufai’s amnesia: The day Boko Haram Wore Jeans’, I categorically stated that greed and the senseless chase for power by the Fulani aristocrats and political elite of the North are responsible for the extreme poverty of the North. I still and will always stand by that. My position did not go down well with my targets; they responded vituperatively.

Mallam Sanusi’s statistics was intended to mislead us by ruffling the rudder of our common sense. See, Ekiti state has a 2012 budget 0f N88 billion; Kwara State, N90 billion; Cross River State, N144 billion; Anambra State, N82 billion; Enugu State, N74 billion. Now let’s look at the 2012 budgets recently passed into law by the four major Boko Haram occupied states – Kano State has a budget of N 210 billion; Borno State, 150 billion; Gombe, N94 billion; Yobe State, 80 billion.

A simple comparative analysis shows that Ekiti State has about the same revenue as Yobe and Gombe, but only 17 students passed WAEC and NECO in Gombe state last year, while Ekiti is known for its high literacy level. Gombe State has a bigger budget that Enugu and Anambra, why has MASSOB not bombed anyone.

Borno State has a budget twice that of Enugu State but the poverty and unemployment level in Borno State is more than thrice that of Enugu State. Borno has a bigger budget than a Niger Delta state – Cross River. While the leaders of Cross River over the last decade have transformed it into the nation’s leading tourist destination; those of Borno have transformed it into a Somalia.

Kano State gets the highest statutory allocation from the Federal Government, because on paper Kano is the most populated state in Nigeria, yet Kano has about 1.6 million destitute Almajiris. Kano has a budget almost thrice the budget of Enugu, twice the budget of Kwara, Anambra and Ekiti, but how come almost 90 per cent of students in Kano fail WAEC? How come the poverty level in Kano is higher than all these states put together? Why is the North so poor? From the figures above I have shown that Southern states with lesser budgets have shown better development performance than most North Eastern states with bigger statutory allocation and budgets.

Now, I need to tackle the sensitive question of revenue allocation that has infuriated the Mallam Lamido Sanusi and Mallam Elrufai and their likes. Niger Delta states get higher revenue allocation because they contribute virtually all the eggs in the national crate. That is expected. Albeit the 13 per cent remains grossly inadequate, the CBN Governor has suggested that his Boko boys are resisting the disparity.

I want to posit that the North-East through their aristocrats and ex-military rulers (except Gen. Mohammed Buhari) rake in more oil money (from the Niger Delta) individually than any Niger Delta state, and collectively more than twice the entire Niger Delta put together. In this disquisition, I have attempted to show that 80 per cent of crude oil and gas produced by indigenous companies is controlled by the North-East. It is an area they have well conquered through Generals IBB, Abacha and Abdulsalami. However, the loots never get back home.

Uneven nature of the distribution

In this first part I will attempt to describe the very uneven nature of the distribution of the nation’s wealth among the Northern aristocratic families and their military generals who for decades looted Nigeria. They did so blatantly, and while Nigeria was weeping about oil windfall loot and others, Nigerians would wail if they know how much of the nation’s resources these folks allocated to themselves and their business fronts before they stepped aside.

Let us therefore begin: To the state of origin of Boko Haram: Borno State. Enter Cavendish Petroleum, the operators of OML 110 – with good yielding OBE field. This oil block was awarded to Alhaji Mai Deribe – the Borno patriarch, who even in death will remain the richest man dead or alive in the history of Borno State – by General Sani Abacha on July 8, 1996. OML 110 has a proven oil reserve in excess of 500 million barrels (more than the entire 300million barrels reserve of Sudan). As yet with the capacity to produce about 120,000 barrels of crude oil daily from its OBE 4 and OBE 5 wells. At optimal production levels, Cavendish nets circa N4billion monthly in crude oil sales (using current oil price of $100pb). Cavendish Petroleum’s N4bn monthly net dwarfs the monthly statutory allocation of Borno which is about N3bn and its internally generated revenue staggers around N1billion.

His mansion in Maiduguri has become a tourist attraction. A simple Google search will throw up different perspectives of Mai Deribe’s palatial home.

Enter Oriental Energy Resources Limited, a company owned by Alhaji Mohammed Indimi, a Fulani and close friend of General Ibrahim Babangida. Also worthy of note is that General IBB’s first son is married to Alhaji Mohammed Indimi’s daughter – Yakolo Indimi-Babangida, who also serves as a director in the company. Alhaji Indimi hails from Borno State.

Good yielding offshore oil blocs

Oriental Energy Resources Limited runs three oil blocks: OML 115, the Okwok field and the Ebok field. OML 115 and Okwo are OML PSC, while Ebok is an OML JV. All of them good yielding offshore oil blocks. OML 115 on its own is 228 sqKm. On OML115 Oriental Energy Resources Limited has 60 per cent while Equity Energy Resources AS. On Okwok, Addax has 40 per cent and on the Ebok field, Oriental Energy Resources shares with none: its 100 per cent. AMNI produces twice as much as Cavendish Petroleum.

I will then shift to the centre of the aristocratic hegemony in the North East – Kano. Here. Enter the Fulani Prince Nasiru Ado Bayero, Mallam (Prince) Sanusi Lamido Sanusi’s cousin. He is a key shareholder and director in Seplat/Platform petroleum operators of the Asuokpu/Umutu Marginal Field with a capacity of 300,000 barrels monthly and A 30mmfcsd gas plant capable of feeding 100MT of LPG. The Ado Bayeros, Yar’Aduas and Atiku Abubakar are Nigerian directors of Intels. It is a private port that has grounded three Federal ports in the South. Intels is discussed later.

Enter South Atlantic Petroleum Limited (SAPETRO). South Atlantic Petroleum (SAPETRO) is a Nigerian Oil Exploration and Production Company that was created in 1995 by General T. Y. Danjuma. General Sani Abacha awarded the Oil Prospecting License (OPL) 246 to SAPETRO in February 1998.

The block covers a total area of 2,590km2 (1,000 sq. miles). SAPETRO partnered with Total Upstream Nigeria Ltd (TUPNI) and Brasoil Oil Services Company Nigeria Ltd (Petrobras) to start prospecting on OPL246. Akpo, a condensate field was discovered in April 2000 with the drilling of the first exploration well (Akpo 1) on the block. Other discoveries made on OPL 246 include the Egina Main, Egina South, Preowei and Kuro (Kuro was suspended as a dry gas/minor oil discovery).

Barrels of condensate

In June 2006, General TY Danjuma divested part of its contractor rights and obligations to China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) for $1 billion (N160bn). Akpo exports about 230,000 barrels of condensate daily. Condensate export is not regulated by OPEC, so SAPETRO/TOTAL exports as much as possible each day. Egina exports about 75,000 barrels of oil daily.

Therefore, Akpo and Egina fields export just over 300,000 barrels of oil/condensate daily (three times what the country Ghana exports). SAPETRO (TY Danjuma) get 25 per cent of this. Now, note I have not talked about the gas component – it’s about 2.5 trillion cubic feet. The money SAPETRO nets each month is more than the monthly statutory allocation of all the Niger delta states combined and also more than the oil revenue of Ghana. Do your maths.

Enter AMNI (or is it AMIN?) International Petroleum Development Company. AMNI owns two oil blocks – OML 112 and OML 117. In the production sharing contract, AMNI gets 60 per cent for owning the oil block and Total gets 40 per cent for providing technical advice. OML 112 was awarded on the 12/02/1998 while OML 117 was awarded 06/08/1999 all by Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar. Operations started on both blocks 0n 26/02/2006. The licenses are due to expire 11/02/2018 and 05/08/2019 respectively. (Now you see why the next election is important?)

The Okoro and Setu fields in OML 112 are operated by Afren Energy, a company substantially controlled by Rilwanu Lukman. The Okoro and Setu oil fields have about 50 million barrels in reserve and currently produce/exports just a little below 20,000 barrels per day. The chairman of AMNI International Petroleum and Development Company is Alhaji (Colonel) Sani Bello a Fulani from Kontagora, Niger State. Lest I forget, Alhaji Bello’s son – Abu, is married to General Abdusalami Abubakar’s eldest daughter.

Enter Express Petroleum and Gas Limited floated by Alhaji Aminu Dantata. General Abacha awarded him OML 108 on the 1st of November, 1995. CAMAC Houston, a company owned by Kase Lawal bought 2.5 per cent of Express Petroleum’s 60 per cent holdings. The other 40 per cent on OML 108 is owned Sheba E&P Limitedi. SEPCOL operates the Ukpokiti offshore field in Shallow water Nigeria, which was acquired from ConocoPhillips in May 2004.

Enter Shebah Exploration And Production Limited (SEPCOL) . It is the operator of the Oil Mining License 108 offshore Nigeria. Head office is in Lagos, but ‘head quartered’ in Minna.

Enter Consolidated Oil. Conoil Producing Limited is an integrated upstream oil and gas company. They are the operator of six blocks in the Niger Delta as well as 25 per cent Equity holder in the Joint Development Zone (JDZ) Block 4. Corporate Head office is in Lagos, but its ‘Headquarters’ is in Minna, Niger State.

Conoil signed a technical operator agreement with Continental Oil and Gas Limited (CONOG) to provide 100% funding and technical service agreement to operate blocks OML 59 on a 40 per cent (Conoil) / 60 per cent (CONOG) basis. Conoil entered into a Production Sharing Contract with the NNPC by virtue of an agreement executed on October 17, 2008.

Conoil’s has overall potential hydrocarbon resources of over 1.0 billion barrels of oil and 7.0 trillion cubic feet of gas. General Ibrahim Babangida awarded the first oil bloc to Conoil in 1991. The company produces about 100,000 barrels per day.

Enter Rilwanu Lukman, another Fulani multimillionaire with controlling holdings in Afren, the operators of AMNI oil blocks and also with very key interest in the NNPC/Vitol trading deal, Vitol is a London based oil trading company. Vitol lifts 350,000 barrels of crude oil daily from Nigeria.

Enter Intels and the Yar’Adua, Ado Bayero family and Alhaji Abubakar Atiku. The Oil and Gas Free Zone and Oil Services Centres, as well as support bases, are operated from government-owned facilities, leased to Intels under long-term agreements. Intels runs a ‘private port’, a venture that has systematically killed the Calabar, Warri and Port Harcourt ports.

More money in profit

There are over one hundred major companies operating at the Intel facility in Port Harcourt. The company makes more money in profit than the government of Rivers, Bayelsa and Delta states put together. I shall give details and figures in part two of this disquisition.

Finally, let me introduce you to NorthEast Petroleum. The name is as clear as the message it sends. I do not need to write so much about NorthEast Petroleum registered as NorEast. NorthEast Petroleum Nigeria Limited is the holder of OPL215 license, covering an area of 2,564 square kilometres in water depths between 200 to 1600 metres. NorEast is the parent company of Rayflosh Petroleum Nigeria which got the 2005 bidding round and was awarded the blocks OPLs 276 and 283 closing thereupon a Joint Venture Agreement with Centrica Resources Nigeria Limited and CCC Oil and Gas.

Not surprising, NorthEast Petroleum is owned by another Fulani businessman from the North East, Alhaji Saleh Mohammed Jambo. The license was awarded to him by General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida in 1991 and then renewed in 2004. So far $50million has been spent on the very promising Okpoi-1 and Egere -1 exploratory well.

In the Part II, we shall finish the discussion. We will table other North Eastern billionaires who make more money than their states of origin from Niger Delta oil blocks.

With all these oil blocs owned by ‘North- Easterners’ in the Niger Delta, it should be clear to El-Rufai and Sanusi who really benefits from the Niger Delta Amnesty Programme.

Sadly, the National Bureau of Statistics Poverty Profile Report just released shows the North East as the poorest region in the nation with 69.1 and 76.3 as absolute and relative poverty levels respectively, while the South-West had the lowest poverty profile with 49.8 as absolute poverty level and 59.1 relative poverty level. With these figures from the National Bureau of Statistics, I rest my case. The rich man’s wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty. Let us reason together.
The context of the story was in light of "low level of development in Northern Nigeria" and the part played by our former rulers, especially Northern Head of states/Rulers.

Now hat you have identified his "key-speciality and advantage", all you need do is BUILD ON THIS.

Get him educational TOYS (vivid colors toys of animals, numbers, letters, LEGOS, Thomas Engine (the type he needs to assemble into an engine; it sis less than $10/ 7Euros at Argos or PowerCity or any other Toy Shop nearest 2u).

With time, he will translate into what you expect of him.

It is not how we get "there" that matters, it is GETTING THERE, on time that really counts!
And l think he will get there so, stop stressing yourself.

Stewpid IGP! Is this all he has to offer?

So "wearing" cloth like a Policeman, makes you a Policeman?

Cant this illiterate IGP's copy some small sense from the West?

Clothing does not make a Police.

For example, why cant this muppet of an IGP design a Police Crest/Badge (some small metallic shield that each Policeman has, with his number on it, kept inside their Purse) unique to each Policeman?
You resign/get sacked, you drop that badge! Immediately.

What about painting Police cars in a Unique, uniform color?
What about using unmarked car which can then be identified by "special and unique" lighting and siren sounds?
What about the head-gear? Are people also sewing that one? grin
What about making a law that says you dont obey anyone claiming to be a Policeman EXCEPT they identified themselves using their badge?

That way, IMPERSONATION will be difficult if not impossible.

Its only in Nigeria that Army will seize a boys "combat fatigue" or Boots claiming its impersonation? shocked shocked
Can you impersonate a U.K Police officer just by wearing "black trousers and white shirts"? Naaah!

My Friends, have you not heard the Cliche "There is no "abuja" (short-cut) to the Top of a Palm tree"?

If you remove the fat salary, even Keshi will not touch that job, he is only doing it for the money; He knows he ant succeed!

Having said that, we will only succeed if we start from scratch: Develop foot ball from the Primary/Secondary school level.
In five years, we will produce enough "stars" from 150million football lovers, to excel at any competition, even without a Coach!

1.) Lets start organizing competitive football tournament in every LGA in the country (Principals Cup at every Primary and Secondary school, as we do in those good days)
2.) Offer local school scholarships to good sports-men (children) in our schools.
3.) Let us progress this to our tertiary institutions (NUGA GAMES, NIPOGA GAMES, COLLEGE OF EDUCATIONS e.t.c. It will not only produce local stars, it will also keep those idle boyz busy and away from cultism! No be everybody fit be Engineer o! grin
4.) Let us dissolve the Football (break the glass house!) Body completely. Those there are THIEVES, they are too corrupt to produce anything good for this nation. Let us put "business men" there, will clear, set objectives that would be evaluated using milestones. No more Quota system in F.A chairman! grin

Look, its very easy, if we PLAN well and IMPLEMENT it, less we continue to FAIL.

How l wish SiaSia can "plan and implement" and still get sacked?
Even Keshi will soon be sacked, 'cos he will also fail woefully. Mark my words Here.

Politics › Re: Why We Can’t Build Refinery In Nigeria-shell by lastpage: 8:12am On Mar 03, 2012
"If you say your wares (product) is cheapey, others will pay pittance for it". ITS THAT SIMPLE!

Our Leaders sold (are still selling) us for free to outsiders.

But then, GEJ and our ASSEMBLY-MEN are too concerned about their pockets and fat allowances, to even attempt to "ROCK THE BOAT" in this world where France and U.K are prepared to wage war on a country (using some Human right excuse and some men-of-the-belly accomplices), just to protect their interest and that of their Companies!.

Check Libya
Check Ivory Coast
Check Uganda
Check Nicaragua
Check, Check, Check,

Build Refineries for us!
Build Power Stations for us!!
Build Hospitals for us!!!
Build Roads for us!!!!

Wetin sef? Na dem born us?
angry angry sad cry
Are we so shameless or are we the "Monkeys" they sometimes call us?

Nothing good comes on a platter of gold.

Our destiny lies in our hands, its our move!

Politics › Re: Lagos To Enjoy 24hrs Electricity Supply by lastpage: 7:56am On Mar 03, 2012
^^^^^^Abegii, we don hear this story over and over again!

If fuel costs X-naira, investors would come and build refinery! - Babangida (1985)
If electricity costs K-Naira, investors would build Power stations allover the place - OBJ (2001)
If Diesel price is deregulated, Investors would run to Nigeria - OBJ (2001)

Ditto Umaru Yar Ardua
Same Story with Jonathan (Subsidy removal)

The mistake y'all making is that INVESTORS DONT JUST LOOK AT PROFIT (MONEY TO BE MADE FROM SALES) ALONE, in making investment decisions!

Some other "decision elements" taken into consideration are:

1.) Political and "polity" Stability
2.) Transparency and Business Ethics (read Corruption!)
3.) Infrastructures in place (Read no electricity, bad roads, poor internet, e.t.c)
4.) Tax Structure (read fraud and multiple Taxation regimes in Nigeria)
and many more!

Even if we increase the price of a KWH of electricity and a liter of PMS to #1,000 each, investors will still not come to Nigeria.
All you will get is Hyper-inflation and a collapsed economy!

BTW: In the UK, electricity does not cost as much as 2.5GBP (about #600).
In the U.S, electricity does not cost $4/KWH as well!
No where in the E.U does anyone pay 3Euros/KWH

But in all these places, electricity is very every stable! So, its not all about inflating the cost.
Take a look at how they got to where they are today.
Govt invests heavily in Power Plants, once it is stable and functioning, Govt THEN SELLS THE BUSINESS TO PRIVATE INVESTORS (but retains oversight functions (at times using a very advocative consumer rights body) to prevent "exploitation" of the citizens.

Remember, some industries like "Power", Military/Weapons Production, e.t.c, have a very "strong bearing" on National Security and must never be completely left in the hands of private investors, to do as they wish. Till today, you will still hear of British Gas, British Electricity Board, e.t.c.
They are semi-private, semi-autonomous business with Govt hand.
Nigerian Govt (as done in the 60's) should build this Power Stations and then contract Private hands to run it profitably (or sell it out-rightly, under a "tight" arrangement). Until we do that, we will still remain a fourth world country by 2099!

The whole "idea of Language" is as a means of communication.

The whole idea of communication is "messaging and understanding" (decoding)

Any "Language" that is not "understood" is definitely NOT COMMUNICATING!

@mrs. Chima
Those epistles sound great, however two people need to first be in agreement with what they want in the relationship.
Learn NOT TO use DEROGATORY WORDS to describe someone's post!
At least, let such come from someone who wrote something remotely more informative!,
I doubt if it is just a case of careless choice of words?!
