lekandauda1234:
Let me start by asserting my yorubaness, if there is any word like that, my username says a lot about who i am and if you prefer you can check my profile. Firstly i will like to point out that what dialogue has not achieved war can never never get it done. What Mr Kwankwaso suggested in his presentation is the best solution to the situation we have found ourselves today. I belong to a society (THE INNER CIRCLE) in my university days in ibadan and our creed is "by chance u are made brothers but by choice u make friends" we are here in this geographic entity Nigeria and it is our choice to make it work. Within a family there are several variations of the same genetic composition and hence no two individuals behave the same way. Can we then go ahead to do a forensic analysis of the peace or otherwise that exist within the family. The most apropriate answer is compromise. How this is then achieved can best be attributed to education. Let me take the issue of peace. The man has thru education both formal or otherwise realize that the other man is his other half and the best thing to do is to accept him with both flaws and otherwise. In the case of the other side of peace, thru education both formal or informal he has taken a stand that maybe detrimental to the society and that is his belief except something very concrete is done to correct this. Now going back to Mr Fani Kayodes fanning of war to correct the excess of the fulani cattle rearers, does 2 wrongs make a right, has war ever ever settle any dispute, please observe the recent uprising about Biafra. With war u only conquer people but you dont change thier passion and passion is like a festering wound it will be there for ever. Its quite easy to fan the embers of war on the pages of newspaper but the consequencies is more devastating than what one can ever thought of. Serving as a youth corper in old Imo state in 1990 the impact of 1966-1970 civil war was still very evident. Yoruba has a saying "eni ija oba lonperae lokurin" translated literarily means its you thst have not seen war that clamours for it. If i may ask where was Mr Fani Kayode during the civil war, i bet he was well tucked away safe inthe UK. What he is insinuating now, if paraventure happens, he has visas for family and most especially his beautiful girlfriend with wish he elopes to a safe haven. Who bears d brunt? We the defenseless citizen.

Secondly, he made reference to chief Olu Falaes kidnap. I am so glad that the perpetrators have been arrested and they all attested to the greed that fanned thier criminal intentions. I want to ask are there no criminals worse than this from other part of the country? From tnier confession they never knew who thier abductee was. It was thier greed that propelled them to carry pitthier nefarious activity. Now let us critically asses the root cause of all this kidnapping, cultisim, armed robbrey etc. Is it not because of the unnessary flouting of wealth by people who are suppose to set good example. How can one explain the unsatiable splash of Range Rover sport by an elderly man who is above 50 on a girl that is less than 30. How do you expect her peers who has just graduated from schools to think. You can not ever ever sow maize qnd expect to reap cassave. What you have sown shall ye reap. Billions of naira pillfered away by our leaders Mr Kayode inclusive could so well have bought Nigerian youths education that can make us distinguish between right and wrong. Now coming to the fulani herdsmen problem, i will lay a substantial blame to thier leaders in the north who instead of giving them education has preferred to retain the almajiri culture, but can we the yorubas blame God for situating us in this entity called Nigeria. No, its not by our choice but what can we do? With education and understanding we can peacefully coexist. I watched a documentary about cattle rearing in kenya where the cattle are reared on barley planted on virtual soil. This may sound so difficult but is achieveable. I am so sure what mrkwankwso istalking about is education that will foster a peaceful coexistence of Nigerian
Lekan, Did you not notice that all the fools shouting on-top of their voice over the issue are these brainless Nyamirins?

Those Yiibo clowns have not gotten over the pain of their defeat since 1970! tongue tongue
They think they can "trick" the Yorubas into a war, with the Northerner, so they can take advantage of the CHAOS, to achieve their Biafra!
That is the A-Z of their evil plan so when you see them "crying more than the bereaved", no that it is a cry of the TRAITOR the have always been.

FFK says something stewpid... and all "Nyaminrim Flat-Heads" rush to hail him!

The question one needs to ask these motherphuckers is: Why are you lot crying more than the bereaved or is it Yiibos that was insulted? huh huh

The Fulani heardsmen are no different from Yiibo Kidnappers and Armed robbers?
How is it possible to "ban" such criminals from certain part of Nigeria?
Do they carry certificate on their body or write on their head that "We are kidnappers or Fulani herdsmen"?

The sensible option, if FFK and his hordes of prostituting Nyamirim Flat-heads have any sense at all, is to:

1.) Enable the Nation's Security apparatus to "effectively" deal with any law-breaker, be it Yiibo drug-pusher, Yiibo Kidnapper/Armed robber or Fulani herdsmen turn kidnapper.

2.) Allow Citizens to bear Arms, for self protection, especially in vulnerable areas.

Trying to incite Tribal hatred between the Northerner and Yorubas, for "Political gains of the PDP and those "rabid haters" from the Southeast", wont work!

We are smarter than that.
If FFK and his foolish horde of "Nyaminrims-Igbos" are aggrieved, let them carry a gun and enter bush to confront the herdsmen!

A man is the head of the house and it snot a normal thing for the wife to give him "pocket money"! grin grin
That is why men are required to "become a man" before marrying a wife. undecided undecided
God job, good pay.
It is the wife that is supposed to collect "house-keeping money" from her husband, even if she is still earning.
"Hand of the giver is always on-top". undecided undecided

But there are circumstances where a man loses his job temporarily .. while the wife is still working and earning.
In such case, the wife owes it a duty to share her income with her husband, after-all, she was also collecting from his back then, and there was no hullaballo!

I know "most" women are "greedily selfish" by nature.
You will know that most breakages in marriage starts when the husband loses his source of income and the wife is expected to "assist" in the family upkeep.
Women are just not wired for family leadership because they dont have that grace.

An Old, wise man once told me "You never know your wife until you lose your source of income and she assumes the "House headship" temporarily.
He recommended that every married man act out being unemployed and (no income) for a few months, to really know their wife.

it turns out he was right, in all cases l have seen.

Finally, if you "TRULY LOVE" someone, sharing ANYTHING (including your money) will be the least of your worry, when you are with them

presh247:
Proverbs 22:15 Foolishness [is] bound up in the heart of a child; The rod of correction will drive it far from him.

Proverbs 23:13 Do not withhold correction from a child, For [if] you beat him with a rod, he will not die.

Proverbs 29:15 The rod and rebuke give wisdom, But a child left [to himself] brings shame to his mother.

The bible has said it all. There are times you have to use the cane for a child not with the intention of inflicting injury but to correct. I would suggest you seldom use the cane for adolescents, talk more but for kids use the cane when necessary.
I agree with you Sir!

but that bolded part is not always true!
I have seen parents who literally "beat" a child to death..... as in excessive canning!
It can be traumatic for the child if done excessively and the effect of that can be life-long.

Such children may become abusive themselves as they have never been shown compassion and think lacking such is "normal".
I have seen children who have never been canned in their life... and they still turn out really good adults.

I guess its different for each child.
Know your child, is key!

Family › Re: Do You Encourage Beating Of Children By Teachers At Schools? by lastpage: 2:30am On Oct 27, 2015
carbonmonoxide:
Most people(Nigerians) believe that without beating their children, the child will become disobedient, and they regard beating of kids as a way of being giving them good discipline...

Some parents even tell their children's teachers to beat the hell out of them if they do not obey school laws or fail some subjects..

So the topic is do you believe in beating of children (most especially in schools) as a way of discipline or as an act of wickedness??

Let's hear your views..
Your use of the word "beat" is very misleading.

Proper word is "Canning". ... of children.
Please note that the two are different and have different contextual usage!

Having said that, I believe in the canning of children.... as an extreme measure.

*Spare the rod and spoil the child!
*The stubbornness in the heart of a child is removed with a cane (Holy Bible)

Just to mention two quotes in relation to the topic.

Now, the more important things are:
1.) The "level application" of the cane

2.) The "post-canning" rehabilitation process

I cannot do justice to the topic here because most Nairalanders lack even th eshortest attention span and mst cant even read beyond a few line! grin grin

But in summary,
(a) you need to be careful when canning a child, do it with "love" because you are not a sadist and your intention is not to inflict pain/punishment on the child but your intention is to forcefully correct a bad trait (after verbal corrections have failed to yield results).
Thus, you must cane a child with a high sense of responsibility and love.
No over-flogging or abusive canning.
That is not how a parent shows love to their child!
Do it in moderation otherwise, you are going from "correction" ...to becoming "child-abuse"!

I remember a day my Dad caned me and he was "shedding a tear"! (I was such a stubborn and daring lad, when l was growing up! grin ).
Weeks later, l asked him why he cried after-all, he was the one canning me and not the other way round?
He told me that he was feeling the pain, as he was canning me and that he wished he did not have to cane me.
Then l cried more that day because l knew "I was loved"!. I promised him l will turn out better henceforth.

(b) Since your intention as a parent/teacher is "correction", this is where you need to expend more energy ... not in the canning!
*After the canning exercise, give the child some minutes to "cool down" grin ...
*Call the child and ask him/her if they knew why you canned him? Most children always assume it is because you are wicked! shocked
*In a "quiet, simple and clear" terms, explain to the child why you resorted to the use of the cane
*Let the child know that you do not take delight in canning him/her
*Give the child a clear and precise way to avoid being caned, in the future by letting him know what to do or what not to do.
*Give the child another few minutes to dwell and digest this information
*After this stage has been completed, call the child, cuddle him/her and tell them how much you love them. this last oart is very , very important to rebuild trust and confidence in the child.
*End it with a high-five, a smile and some interest but diversionary activity like "How ,about we watch TV together ..or play together ..or read a book together ...or anything that you know will interest the child.

Children forgive and forget easily (unlike we grumpy adults! angry ) and wont remember the cane in the next five minutes, if properly done, but the lesson will be remembered.

Let us also remember tha not all children need tobe canned, for correction.
I have children that if l just give them that "corner-eye, stare-of death" like this, they would adjust immediately but l also have one that looks like me (too much for my liking!), acts like me and is as stubborn as (a Billy-goat) l was, when l was growing up (His mother has to explain where she got him from! grin ) . That one needs the cane once in awhile otherwise, he will grow wings! undecided

Yes, l am all for the cane. wink kiss
Right under my Pillow! undecided undecided

Oga! Abeg this is for educational purpose and not a rejoinder. I never said I'm not the builder. I am the builder that provided the estimates, the labourers and supervision of the project to the first slab. And for the fact that N150k supervision fee has exchanged hands, I am liable more than the material supplier, the SE (who signed the letter of supervision) and every other people. Interesting!

Part of builders responsibility should include scheduling of workers, trades and delivery of materials, keeping track of expenses, maintaining a clean and safe work site and minimising the inconvenience to the client.

Why I'm saying this is I care to know how one (the builder) schedule workers without having control of timely delivery of materials.
Okay, let us assume this is for "Educational Purposes"... and not a rejoinder!

My response was to the question @FastShipping asked you, and your response to it, as quoted below:

FastShipping: @brabus,

Who built the house from foundation level to deking stage?
At what stage your service was engaged and at what stage your service was no more needed?
Brabus: At foundation stage, it was a contract prepared by the owner based on NextHome estimate. The contract stopped at the Sandfilling of the house. All materials after Sandfilling were supplied by the owner. I only took up the role of supervision afterwards up to slab level.

I got disengaged completely from the project at the completion of the slab. There are records.
At no point in that your answer above, did you indicate you Brabus, is THE BUILDER!

A "simple question", deserves a "simple answer" but it appears that in your effort at obfuscation and outright misinformation, you usually go on a long and winding tangent to the core question or issues at stake.
You use a lot of "unnecessary sound-bites and grammar" where a simple YES or NO, will have suffice, all in an attempt at cunning misinformation!!
A lot of your Clients may not be that "grammatically imposing" like you (?) but that does not apply to all Nairalanders who are reading these posts.

It was when you refused to answer the question, ...."simply and directly" , that he resorted to breaking it further down into a series of six questions!
Even at that, you never confirmed that YOU ARE THE BUILDER!

I have seen a lot of these in your quibbles with some of your aggrieved Clients and l think it does not serve you well.

For example:
Question: Are you the one who built the house up to Decking level?
Answer: Yes, l am the builder ......though at a point after the filling of the Foundation, the owner offered to supply all material we needed to use.

if you observe, it is required that you answer a question you are asked first... and then proceed to make any "additional observation" you may have, ...after answering the question; Not going "round-about waffling in technical jargons and tangential issues" not directly relevant to the question.

I know you are a very, very smart person and thus can conclude that the way and manner you respond to such troubling questions is deliberate and not as a result of lacking "comprehension of the question or what to say, in reply"

Since this is just for "educational purposes", l hope you will "learn the lesson there-in" and not turn it into another "back and forth" rejoinder! undecided

The Builder is a Contractor who "implements and supervises the Construction work" of the building (or is there even any other thing he does, since he does not carry head Pan?).... except he is not on ground and chose to delegate the Supervision (in his absence), to a competent person.

Even at that, you still remain the BUILDER and hence the responsibility for the structural Safety of that Building, still rests with you.

In simple Turainshi for those of us that dont understand too much Grammar:

1.) Brabus supplied all materials and BUILT the structure FROM SCRATCH, ....through foundation, up to Sand-filling of that foundation.

2.) Owner then began to supply MATERIALS from that stage, while Brabus continue to BUILD the structure .... up to SLAB level.

In other words, Brabus was completely responsible for the CONSTRUCTION of this Building UP TO SLAB/DECKING LEVEL, while owner "supplied materials" from after foundation.

This is the summary of the above, in pidgin English, according to Brabus himself and going by the Video he shot and provided in evidence, here-in.

Thus, that "floating Column" was done by Brabus, since it is between Foundation and Slab...

That much is very obvious and Aventures also pointed this out, in his post quoted below

If l am wrong, Brabus can correct me/us.

Aventures:
...............

1. There was a column by the window that left its starter columns reinforcement and sat on the wall, it seems to me that column is critical and it is structurally wrong to have such. This fall within the Job Brabus claim he did/supervised by himself.
Also Brabus claimed that he stopped the entire work at first floor slab level, then the omission of beams and corresponding supporting columns are part of his job. But the upper floor columns that is not in alignment and the poorly casted columns are definitely not his responsibility.

I rest my case.

We told them! That election was daylight robbery! There was widespread intimidation and violence.

I just dont understand how sane and educated people should be supporting that kind of election and be lying to our faces that the election was peaceful and Wike was validly elected.

We must as a people set a precedence that is decent and defensible.

If we allow the GEJ regime to go away with the bastadized elections in Rivers and Akwa Ibom, how can we justly prevent PMB from doing his own in the future??

Listen people. This is not about ethnicity and bigotry! It is about setting the records straight!

Only elections that substantially follows due process must stand! (perfect election is quite impossible)

Infact I will even love to see a Nigeria where election riggers and manipulators are disqualified from running in a rerun, this will make those desperate politicians think well before throwing caution to the wind. Imagine the number of people that lost their lives because of that silly election that is been cancelled now.

*****
Wike and his lawyers must be sick upstairs. How can you tell a court with bold face that the elections in Rivers was very peaceful and there was massive turnout!! Chai!

Imagine such outrageous lie. How wont they lose the case, with such an obvious lie.
You have just received a Nobel "TRUTH & Intelligence" Award!

I think they should not only be disqualified, they should also be prosecuted for CRIME AGAINST THE STATE...... TREASON! undecided undecided

RESPECT!

I used to say it, Fighting Corruption is not a small thing to do, it is more and more than noise.
How can Buhari fight corruption successfully when most Nigerians are corrupt and a lot of you folks actually are in support of the same looters tha are the cause of your problems?

You cant eat your cake and have it.

Buhari is just one person.

Family › Re: My Marriage Is Crashing, I Think I Hate Him...Help by lastpage: 8:18am On Oct 24, 2015
I think l want to at times, agree with those who say "Women in general, have small brain"! grin grin grin

I'm pregnant and have gestational diabetes meaning sometimes i get very weak so I've been unable to work properly, I am also a final year nursing student. The truth is 80% of the time it's me that bail us out of bad financial crises, my husband has not been able to keep a stable job for as long as I've known him and when he gets his fast money he lavishes it, he doesnt think of the home rather he thinks of clubbing, drinking etc. I never look into his pockets as i think its rude to count people's money but the minute he swindlea his money away he starts to count my money to fund his things such as petrol, club, hosting his family coming from nigeria.

If when you were still dating, your husband showed all the above symptoms..... and you still went ahead to marry him and get pregnant for him, then you deserve to be stoned ... for coming here to complain.

But then, maybe you are making-up all these stories, to get an excuse and justification to opt-out of the marriage.
It looks like your real interest is to be a "Baby Momma" by tricking the man into impregnating you after doing a traditional marriage (the glory of it).
Now that yo are pregnant, its time to run.

Fphuck-off and dont disturb our peace here
.
Oloshos: . If they are not eloping with pregnancy for another man, they are complaining to too much shex or not enough shex, blah...blah...blah!!!

May Almighty God bless you, your family, your father, mother, uncle, children, house help everybody !!

You hit the nail on the head, if you recall when I started having serious problems with brabus as well, I was very constructive with my feedback, gave him praises when it was due, expressed my disappointment when it was due also.

What I REALLY REALLY HATE/I MEAN SERIOUS DISLIKE about brabus is that he takes people for idiots, extremely arrogant, believes he's always right, tells a lot of lies, always out to get you, always out to prove a point even if it means client will suffer serious injury or serious loss of money over petty childish things....

Funny thing is that I started following brabus about 4 years ago, gave him my fence to do 2 years ago as a test, gave him my building to do back in March, gave him 2 building jobs (worth over 60m if they hadn't sacked him with a stick and put in in guard room for various atrocities). I was warned by someone very close to me to avoid brabus like a plaque, i thought they wanted the job and gave brabus the benefit of the doubt. What did I get, WICKEDNESS and IMCOMPETENCE, CHEATING !! Would I recommend to someone else, ?ABSOLUTELY NOT !!

I pray that he gets deliverance, because whatever he claims to be doing every Sunday isnt working for him..
Maverick!
To be honest, l feel your pain.
If someone messes me up in real life, l humbly say it will be a sad experience for that person as l would never cheat anyone or do evil to anyone.I
I will simply pursue the matter to its logical conclusion.

Having said that, l think its time for you to let-go of the past.

"Life is a Teacher ....and Past experiences are the Subjects".
Every past Experience should be a "learning Experience".

I am sure even Brabus has learned a thing or two from this issue.
If l were him, l would call you aside and apologise profusely... and make any possible amends.
Everything we do in life, has a repercussion, in the short or long term .... and l am speaking from experience!
God listens to the tears and pain of an oppressed heart!

Leave the matter in God's hands since it is in the past. It is God that takes up such issues, if and when peace is not made.
God will provide for you and you will rise above the disappointment, you will build better and more buildings, in years to come.
I honestly can feel the "seemingly helpless inner pain" you are still going through on the issue.

Forgive him, free your inner spirit from "hate", despite the pain and even though he does not accept liability. You are not the first nor the last.

I am for reconciliation once the accused person "sees and accepts their error" afterall, no one is infallible but to "add salt to an injury" is the height of insensitivity.
Please, l beg you to FORGIVE him and remember him in your prayers.
God bless you as you do.

He still thinks "they" dont want him to succeed? grin grin
what has anyone got to gain from that kind of mindset?
Is it not a thing of pride for NextHome to be known world over, knowing that it started from here? Is it not our Pride on this forum?

But is it not obvious that Greatness is not achieved by "sleight of hand and crass effrontery" but by hardwork, humility, honesty, openness, diligence, grace, candour, truthfulness and many other desirable virtues?

Yorubas say "A lie may travel for twenty years but truth catches up with it in a single day"

Let me say it here BOLDLY TO YOU BRABUS: I am one person that loves you, want your success, progress and can tell you how l feel without a bother!
What l want to see from you is a better "human relations" in your business endeavours.
You must Change for the better, by fire, by force!
grin grin grin
You know we always have each others back, where we came from. undecided
