Sorry, this is not necessarily true. It depends on the school/university and course of study. A close friend of mine graduated with a 3rd class in biology and was admitted to do a Masters' degree in international environmental studies. She finished the course a few years back and has now been admitted for a Ph.d by a private university, here in Nigeria.

Why don't you post the list of all the board of directors who ran each of these institutions from 1971 till date, to buttress whatever point you are trying to make? huh Please cite the sources too, as well as the url, so we can verify your information.

WORD! Well said, bro. It baffles me each time a simple thread is hijacked by the ethnic jingoists and tribal warlords who try to cannonize their own tribes and demonize other ethnic groups. Why?

The same Nigeria Airways was regarded as a profitable entity from 1971 to 1983. At least, it is on record that they had over 30 functional aircraft that were flying to various international destinations, and yielding good profit for the Nigerian government. During its profitable years, the same airline was manned by various professionals from different ethnic groups and they all did a good job. undecided

So what went wrong?

The rot started from the mid-80s until 2002 when Nigeria Airways was finally liquidated. Again, those folks who committed unsavoury acts that led to its demise, came from various ethnic groups. sad

Ethnicity is not, and has never been a factor of corruption. The good, the bad and the ugly come from every ethnic group or tribe. No tribe is holier than the other.

What people should do, is draw up a chart of lessons learnt from the final years of the airline and ensure that such history is NOT repeated, if there is a need to set up another national carrier in the nearest future. Chikena! undecided

Hahaha ..... a wise man once said that ignorance is a disease. It applies so well to you. Afterall, you had admitted earlier that you could not understand my previous post. Yet it was written in simple, lucid language that a 10 year old could comprehend.

[quote author=TOPIC: Why Anambra Cannot Claim Ownership Of Oil Wells In Igga, By Community Leaders

FRIDAY, 12 APRIL 2013 16:17 BY ONYEDIKA AGBEDO BUSINESS SERVICES - BUSINESS NEWS]

THE tension that was generated over the vast oil fields feeding the Orient Petroleum’s Anambra River production facility at Aguleri-Otu in the Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State is yet abate. cry

Last Saturday, Aguleri-Otu community in Anambra-East Council of Anambra State, led by the traditional ruler, Igwe Alex Edozieuno, the Eze Ndo, urged the Enugu and Kogi states governments to call their respective indigenes to order over what they described as their continued inflammatory public utterances over the actual location of the oil wells recently commissioned by President Goodluck Jonathan.

Igwe Edozieuno had urged those who have issues with the location of the oil well or boundaries of his kingdom to follow it up with the National Boundaries Commission (NBC) and or the office of the Surveyor General of the Federation in the Presidency, saying that was the most reasonable thing to do in the circumstances, instead of stoking crises and tension in the area. undecided

It could be recalled that shortly after President Goodluck Jonathan declared Anambra Nigeria’s 10th oil producing state while inaugurating the indigenous private oil refinery on August 30, 2012, vehement protests came from Enugu and Kogi States challenging their exclusion from oil producing status as Anambra.

The president’s historic declaration albeit inadvertent, was like stirring the hornet’s nest. Although the President did not denounce his pronouncement, he was quick to direct the National Boundary Commissioner to take urgent steps, to determine the actual boundaries between Enugu and Anambra on one hand and Kogi and Anambra on the other hand. Since then, the National Boundary Commission has taken steps to nip the impasse in the bud. sad

During a recent visit to Igga by The Guardian, an Igalla speaking community in Uzo-Uwani Local Council Area of Enugu State which has been laying claims to the ownership of the oil wells across Imabolo River to feel the pulse of the villagers, a traditional ruler of Igga Kingdom, His Royal Highness, Igwe Herbert Ukuta III, decried the exclusion of Enugu State from benefiting from what he described as “God given endowment” to the state.

“There is no boundary or land dispute whatsoever. Get me right. The communities we have here are Igga, Ogurugu, Ojor and Asaba. The fact was that in those days across Imabollo River, we own the parcel of lands in the oil fields. We have over 100 natural fishponds there. Because our forefathers concentrated in rice farming (not on the land) but at Adarice Farms, they engaged the services of Aguleri fishermen to come and help us harvest our fishponds. After harvesting the fish, we divided it into three, we took two parts as the owners of the land and Aguleri people would take one part. So, it was in the ratio of 1:2. undecided

“Eventually, the Aguleri fishermen who have been coming with canoe from their distant homes pleaded with us to allow them settle on our land so as to make their operations more convenient and safer. They are migrants. Our people considered their plea and allowed them to settle on our land. They continued working for us in the ponds from generation to generation but surprisingly, they started claiming ownership of the land we gave them. shocked

If you go across the river, you will see signposts bearing inscriptions – “Migrant this, migrant that, or settlement that. I would want to ask, “if you are the owner of a land, will you write migrant primary school in a school in your community? It is not possible. Go across the river and you will see the signpost bearing this inscription. So, I don’t know how they managed or what must have come over their heads or mind when they started claiming ownership of our land,” Ukuta said.

He added: “This oil you are talking about was first discovered in the 50s before Nigeria became independent. SAFRAP was the first company to strike the oil. It was an oil prospecting company just like SHELL. The oil was discovered and sealed by the company, because they said it was not in commercial quantity with the type of technology available in those days. Recently, Orient came to us and told us that they have license from the Federal Government to prospect for oil in our land. We inspected their license and saw that it was genuine and gave them right of way to the oil wells, but asked them to stay away from the town’s politics. They passed through here and some of them were living in the community, even in my palace free of charge, with staff of its subsidiary, SINOPET.

“We heard that a refinery was built about 150 kilometers from here in our neighboring state, Anambra. We started hearing news from radio and reading in newspapers that these oil wells on our soil are no longer our own, that they belong to Anambra. Even when Mr. President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan came to commission some projects in Anambra including the Orient Refinery, he also visited here; it was when he left that we heard that Anambra is now an oil producing state. They (Anambra) may have oil in their place, we don’t know, but the oil wells across Imabolo River 915 OPL and 916 OPL are situated naturally on Igga land....

When will all these "ownership" claims end? Enugu State wants the oil wells too... wink
Politics › Re: The Truth On Kogi And Anambra Oil Fight by laudate:
Here is another angle to the whole story.

It is not just oil that is causing the fight, it appears farmlands are being encroached upon. There should be an amicable way to resolve this crises. undecided
The people of Kogi State who share boundary with Anambra State where there have been lingering boundary disputes have once again disclosed that they are more concerned about access to their farmlands and fishponds and not the presence of oil as is being insinuated.

Kogi State Deputy Governor and Chairman State Boundary Commission,Yomi Awoniyi, made the disclosure at a presentation to the House of Representative Joint Committee set up to interface with parties involved in the alleged encroachment of some parts of Kogi State by Anambra State and to carry out investigation into activities of oil companies in the disputed area.

The Joint Committee meeting was sequel to a motion brought before the House and referred to the Committee’s of Petroleum Resources (upstream) and that of Special Duties.

While noting that oil was only discovered somewhere in the present day Bayelsa in 1956, disclosed that as far back as 1922, documentary evidence of colonial times showed that the first crisis between Kogi and Anambra was over the disputed areas where forest reserves under the Kabba province were being encroached upon to establish Anambra Forest reserves.

The Deputy Governor also said as far back as 1994 there were already efforts between communities in Kogi and Anambra states to use ethnographic references to resolve the areas of dispute in favor of Kogi State, said the inability for the people to access their farmlands and fishing ponds is the state’s concern and not oil.

Awoniyi, called on the committee to do all it can to ensure that the on going peace talks and existing peace currently being enjoyed by the bordering communities is sustained.

While noting that the state government is aware of the unitisation oil policy which will benefit the state by reason of the OPLs 915 that straddles the state when the issues of oil exploration is decided, said the people of the state will not want to let their farmlands and fishing ponds go unhindered.

The Deputy Governor commended the peace that existed between Kogi and its Anambra neighbors until early this year called for it to be sustained, said since the crisis began eleven persons have been killed while sixteen others are currently recuperating in the hospital from gunshots injury.

The Deputy Governor urged the National Boundary Commission not to rely only on the Legal Notices in its judgment of determining the boundaries but on historical proofs and ethnograhic evidence that are gazetted and are in the archives......

He however added that any state where oil was found and drilled by Orient Petroleum would be accorded due recognition.

“There was misconception that the oil well was not entirely in Anambra, that has been resolved through the map of Nigeria. Let me quickly state that the two oil blocks encompassed parts of Enugu, Kogi, Delta and Edo states but bulk of it is in Anambra,” Anyaoku said.
The musical talent runs in the veins of the Anikulapo-Kutis' and they all share some of their father's musical traits. They have not attempted to comandeer the musical space for themselves at the expense of others.

Nwoguphillip: Nigeria is at crossroads and nationalistic ideals to move the country forward is required from everyone. We shall all participate where relevant. Asiwaju Bola Tinubu the Jargaban Borgu kingdom is certainly playing a pivotal role in nation building. He has a captive audience of loyalist that will never fail him.

The structures he has put in place has been the panacea for growth , industrial development , improved infrastructure , creation of wealth , educational advancement , shelter, security improvement to mention a few.

.
Which structures has Ashiwaju put in place? The ability to fiddle with Lagos state's treasury through his cronies?

Abeg, list the structures so we can examine them objectively.

Nwoguphillip: We have entered a new era called stomach infrastructure which we learnt was the key to Fayose's suspicious victory in Ekiti.
Did Brutus not speak to the people about Caesars ambition to justify the conspiracy to kill him , where the people not convinced till Mark Anthony relayed some home truths ......so let it be with Ekiti.

.
Leave Ekiti people alone. They voted for Fayose in protest against Ashiwaju's long-reaching arms, that were already meddling into their state politics, through Fayemi. angry

They know how to get Fayose out too, if he misbehaves. Just siddon dey look...

biodunid: Towards an Ethnicity of Values By Okey Ndibe

It is dispiriting enough to run into unlettered Nigerians who can’t see the right or wrong of any issue without first wearing their ethnic or religious lens. It becomes sordid when those who are seemingly educated resort to viewing matters of profound import through the lazy, easy, hardly pertinent prism of ethnic aggregations or religious affiliations.

Such haste to seize and spout ethnic jingoism or religious jingles raises serious questions about the form and content of education in Nigeria. At its best, education is a tool that frees and enlarges the mind, enabling the educated to see matters without the blinkers of ignorance or parochial platitudes....

One is constantly shocked by the ethno-religious name-calling between different Nigerian groups on Internet forums. The dirtiest epithets are hurled at the ethnic or religious “Other.”

Those with access to the Internet—many of them, one imagines, university graduates—frequently promulgate ideas that members of other ethnic groups are sinister and diabolical, in short as the very incarnations of evil. In like fashion, these Internet partisans often make sweeping ethical claims for those who belong to their states, ethnicity or religion.

Such claims, whether they denounce or extol whole groups, are caricaturist in nature. They have little or no validity, even when they appear persuasive or seductive. In fact, we should recognize them as inimical to the cultivation of a broad base of enlightened society.

I have argued elsewhere that ethnic baiting and stigmatization often precede genocidal horrors. The free circulation of ideas of the inherent villainy of members of other ethnic groups and the inherent moral goodness of members of one’s own ethnic collectivity is a clear and present danger. Those who champion such attitudes are ever reluctant to subject their positions to self-scrutiny. They seldom pause to interrogate the legitimacy of their notions of collective guilt and collective heroism. Without any form of examination, ethics is collapsed to the size and shape of ethnicity.

Okey Ndibe, I salute you for this piece! In fact, you deserve a national award. You echoed my sentiments, exactly. cheesy

You need to spend one week in the 'politics' section on Nairaland, and I swear that you will find perfect examples of people displaying all the traits listed in the highlighted portion, of your comments.

Some of them have 1st, 2nd & 3rd degrees in various disciplines, yet their affinity for using subjective analysis to attack other ethnic nationalities, betrays an inherent pathological disorder.

Nigeria, we hail thee!! grin
Politics › Re: The Delusion Of Grandeur Of Ahmadu Bello At Independence In 1960 by laudate: 1:05pm On Jul 03, 2014
MAYOWAAK: Eleven days after Nigeria got her political independence on October 1, 1960, the Sardauna of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello said, as was carried by the Parrot newspaper on October 12, 1960:

"The new nation called Nigeria should be an estate of our great grandfather Othman Dan Fodio. We must ruthlessly prevent a change of power. We use the minorities in the north as willing tools and the south as a conquered territory and never allow them to rule over us and never allow them to have control over their future." – Parrot Newspaper October 12, 1960.

Now, there are important revelations about the vision of Sir Ahmadu Bello, as captured in the above, and which vision his people have executed with great effectiveness for the past 5 decades:

1. Nigeria is an estate of their great grandfather Othman Dan Fodio, and so anyone who does not descend from their forebear is a tenant. The vision is to maintain a tenancy status for all non-Dan Fodians dwelling within the geographical boundaries of Nigeria.

2. To prevent ruthlessly any change of order that wrestles power from the Dan Fodians.

3. To use and manipulate all "minorities" of the "north" as the slaves of the Dan Fodians.

4. To control the resources of tenants (non-Dan Fodians) in their estate (Nigeria).

5. To resist any form of rule over the Dan Fodians.

6. To never allow non-Dan Fodians to have control over their future.

Photoshop influence is all over this picture. Yeah, she is a fine babe but not this pretty, when you get close to see her in person. smiley

The photographer try sha, maybe they can recommend him to Ashiwaju Tinubu to take his photo and mask the deficiencies.

Why do we like re-inventing the wheel in Nigeria? And why do we like follow-follow mentality or copycat syndrome?

There are so many eCommerce sites in Nigeria already. Just talk to the owners and upload your 200-plus household items on one of them, or divide it between all of them. That way, you benefit from the huge traffic already existing on those sites and you free up your time to do something more meaningful. undecided

Collaboration is the key ingredient that is lacking in the business space today.

Instead of having a few major players that can have the financial & technical muscle to drive the industry, you then end up having multiple, fragmented players that operate below par, and are not adding any new innovation to the business.

tandj: APC from my POV has and will never be an opposition. Its more like a party of people seeking out revenge one way or the other cos they were sidelined.

We don't know what an opposition means. Yet to form one.
Politics in Nigeria like all other establishments still mean biz of enriching pockets.

Shame.
Bros, you were reading my mind!! Come here & let me give you a royal handshake. grin

Evergreen123: Taa gbafuo.
I have served the public in a yorubaland capital and shook my head for u.
When I made the complaints, I was told I had not seen the worst of it yet.
I mean young adults and teenagers kept saying mi ogboo englis to simple 'what's the problem?'.
U can't have this problem in an eastern capital city,I bet u .
Shove ur akure and abagaba makeshift story up ur dentate line.
Eeeyah .... you "served the public in a Yoruba land capital?" What? Only one capital? Hahaha... wonders shall never cease!

You served in only one state capital and you are now using that to generalise? Oga, generalisation is the trait of shallow-minded bigots, oh! Don't let people fool you into believing their exaggerated stories. tongue Now, where are those Yoruba people who should come on board to respond to you? huh Ah, why you can't find them when you need them.. Pity.

One word of advise. Don't bet that you can't have this problem in an eastern capital city. You will lose! Big time! grin

As for my Abagana neighbours, I can send you their address, oh. grin Visit them & verify, maybe you would then realise that poor educational skills abound in every tribe, district & region.
