An2elect2: Op I wish and pray that you would point people to the cross, so they can see that Jesus bore all their sins and that God is no longer angry with them but is calling them home. The whole world is tired and hopeless with this "self consciousness" gospel which is another gospel.
You may have good intentions but you are heavily misrepresenting God and making Him appear unholy and unjust. If a man owed you N5000 and his brother pays you on his behalf(even much more than he owed) and you go back to charge him for same money his brother has paid won't you be referred to as wicked and evil? or a thief? You do not realise that that is what you are ignorantly ascribing to God.
Jesus Christ bore the punishment for all our sins. Not one sin was left unpaid on that cross. We were debtors but one paid all our debts once and for all, not only that he earned so many benefits for us. The only reason people are perishing is because they really have no idea who Jesus Christ is and what He did on the cross. Many in this group are still trusting their moral abilities and their works and thereby unknowingly treating the full payment for sins by Christ as not enough or a common thing. A slap to God's Spirit of grace.
How did the church go from presenting to the world the graciousness and kindness of God through Jesus Christ to telling people they have to stop sinning to please God? Don't we know that is the goodness of God that leads one to repentance?
What made the prodigal son return to his father. His Father's goodness or wrath?
Only the gospel can turn the most rebellious person back to God.
The church must stop preaching from a natural human point of view of "doing good and then getting good",we must preach from God's view of " not doing good but getting good from God because one person has done good on your behalf" overtime this grace would transform one from the inside out. The prodigal son you mention became self-conscious, that was when he thought of returning home. Before his father, he said "I have sin". Pls read that passage very well again. No sinner can be save without self acknowledgment, no sinner can be save without confession and believing. A SINNER MUST ACCEPT CHRIST' WORK. REPENTANCE IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE GOSPEL. HERE IS A STORY: In 1829, George Wilson committed a crime, was tried, found guilty and sentenced for execution. However, the president of the United States then, Andrew Jackson, exercising his power of Prerogative of Mercy decided to grant him pardon and have his death sentence changed to a 20 year prison term. Strangely, George Wilson refused the offer. In his comment, Chief Justice John Marshall wrote, "A pardon is an act of grace, proceeding from the power entrusted with the execution of laws... (But) delivery is not complete without acceptance..." Since Wilson rejected the offer of grace, he had to face the consequences of his crime.* |

@An2elect2 Maybe I'm not getting ur points clearly, but the prodigal son came home and said I'm sorry. That means he became self-conscious, & repented. It is only a self-conscious man/woman that can say I am sorry, pls forgive. YES CHRIST HAS PAID IT ALL, BUT MAN MUST ACCEPT IT.

TheAgeOfTRUTH: Oga, first of all l am very impressed with what you do. To the question above, from all your write ups, l deduced that you love your current job as a secondary School teacher, with a good pay, a hope for more increment, freedom to further your career(PhD), and also chances to grow in the system. I also know you have filled a space in the hearts of those kids you teach, which include their parents, and you can never tell the kind of connection that might spring out from it. Please keep your current job, do your PhD afterall good things don't end, and many opportunities will surely come and by then, you will not be confused or unprepared for it. During school mid term break and long vacation, you can still set up a business if you wish, like farming or buying properties that doesn't necessarily require your presence. Forget what your financee is saying, she is not after the future or career improvement, she is after the social status that comes with being a lecturer than a secondary School teacher. But what they don't know is that ,there is nothing low about being a secondary School teacher in a prestigious school, it is a privilege for few people, please do the right and I wish you the best. Listen to this. After ur PhD look out for recruitment in public universities & switch. |

What u did is called looting, but you are lacing it with sugarcoated explanations, that's why u are battling with guilt cos u didn't obtain the money directly as a gift from your Oga. But be assured that once you show him the money, u have shown yourself the way out and he wont settle U, cos he will never believe u don't have more looted funds stocked up somewhere. Since you've taken to this and you call it proceeds from profits, u must be stable enough to handle it, but if it was stolen then karma awaits you. If you are still confused, maybe your Oga prayer points in mountain of fire has caught up with you, it's time to go for confession and restitution b4 you develop high blood pressure on the small money u looted but cannot spend it. This one na sincere but hilarious truth. My own opinion: since you are in different location just send him his money if he asked for money again. |

Nairalanders, I have been married for just a year now and it has not been easy here! My Husband wants to know every thing about my finance. He has disturbed me to know how much is my salary worth of.
I have always denied him of the fact, what I know is that I used my money to refurbish our flat, got some new things to change the outlook of the place....
But I am not really finding it funny any longer. As we speak, he collected my ATM card since last two weeks, said I must tell him the pin or I should forget having it back. I went to my bank, told them that I lost the card and they changed it for me last Friday and he collected it again said it's either I tell him the pin or he will do something funny ...
I don't know what funny thing he's gonna do but I am worried! Pls is this how marriage is? He claims to own me and own my salary! Is it fair? This marriage is too early instead I would have quit and I am pregnant at the moment! What do I do? I don't want anybody to know anything about my finances including him till I have my baby whom my spirit accepted that I should make my next of kin.
What do I do ?
Madam, you are not married but co-habiting. You share bed, food but can disclose your salary hmmm.... RED FLAG. Unmarried take note. A woman who is very secretive to her husband is not a wife . |

YOU SAID I have confessed. Sins one has confessed and forsaken have been pardoned. But if you go back to your vomit, God will hold you ACCOUNTABLE. |
