PoliticsRe: CNN False Reporting About Nigeria Again (photos) by linearity: 6:18pm On Jan 14, 2015
People, lets be serious for a moment here....Does it really matter if it is 'Western Nigeria' or 'Northern Nigeria'?

If an enemy enters and start attacking my compound, it does not matter the part of the compound they are attacking and neighbors and others might report point, progress or intensity of the attack differently....all that matters is that my compound is under attack.

It appear that, the leadership in Nigeria have grown a thick skin and have been desensitized by the this BH issue.

Just imagine, when a single individual lost his live to police brutality, the President of the USA had a national broadcast about it, He gave news conference and took questions...Now, BH kills 100 people in Nigeria, and the President of Nigeria did not mention it. That is very sad, that shows that some in leadership have taken BH as accepted part of the many society problem we as Nigeria must face on a day to day bases.

If the President does not raise to the occasion and drive the National discuss when 100 or 200 or 300 people are murdered in cool blood, it is sending the wrong message to the world that we do not value the weak and defenseless among us.

Kudos to the Nigeria police for a job well done. It also show that the Nigeria is capable, they just need right leadership and good initiatives.

Sting operations like this is how you take curtailing crime to the next level and put the criminals on the run. It is a very. Proactive tool in law enforcement toolkit to deter crime.

You do not allow crimes to kill someone before putting them behind jail.

Attempted murder is a crime and saying that you were enticed or decided even by the Police into doing it is not a defense.
PhonesRe: The Real Meanings Of These Smartphone Features: LTE, OTG, OTA, SNS & NFC by linearity: 3:00am On Jan 09, 2015
eddyland:
Today, many of you see these features LTE, OTG, OTA, SNS & NFC on smartphones, without actually knowing what they stand for or do to your phones. Have you being wondering what these hi-tech features of smartphones and other mobile device mean and their functions in your phone? Now lets break them down for your understanding.

1. LTE - This stands for Long Term Evolution and a phone that has LTE simply means that that phone is 4G network enabled.

2. OTG - This stands for On The Go meaning that devices with OTG supports USB On The Go. In other words, with such devices, you can use USB devices like flashdrives and printers directly with the phone.

3. OTA -it means Over The Air and therefore devices that support OTA can receive device updates and can easily be updated without needing a PC..

4. SNS -it stands for Social Network Service. Devices with SNS simply mean that the device can easily establish social networks of people via notable social network mediums.

5. NFC -this stands for Near Field Communication. It works like bluetooth but at a very short range for sharing files. It is more secured to use and you don't need to pair or set up anything before making use of it. You can even use it to pay bills and as a travel ticket if your phone has NFC.

http://highteknology..com/2015/01/lte-otg-ota-sns-and-nfc-what-do-these.html
4G as used today is more or less a marketing and advertisement term and LTE is not 4G.

With the dumming down of 4G, some telecommunication company ever pass advance upgrade on their underlying 3G network as 4G because of the increased capacity beyond 3G specifications. But these upgrades including LTE networks are actually called pre-4G or near-4G or 3.5G.

One of the major requirements for 4G network is ability to provide reception of upto 1 Gbit/s for stationary and 100 Mbit/s for mobile devices and none of the self-proclaimed LTE networks today can do that.

LTE-Advance is the true 4G specification and many providers are still testing the waters where LTE is concerned plus there have to be motivation in terms of revenue and profit for them to embark on needless and expensive network expansions.

LMAO. What, this is a big lie. I know because i have seen cases like this, and it amounts to nothing. The authorities do not involve themselves in personal disputes. If she went ahead and married someone else for papers while still married, then and only then will they look into her case. Even then she can claim abandonment by the husband prior to relocation or abuse. It will take a whole lot longer than 3weeks, considering she will get a lawyer who will prove her case. Husband and wife matter? Where is the proof that she did not own the properties? Why will she be deported for a car document her husband bought for her, and she owns? Deported because she has documents owned by joint property or property acquired during marriage? Abroad, everyone gets time to prove their case. You can only be deported swiftly if you committed a crime (violent or credit card). Please, know who you are talking to.
Not actually true....If she remarried in the US without first getting a divorce, that is Bigamy and it is a crime in the US. It means she lied when she obtained her marriage license, she can be tried for bigamy and thrown into jail and after her sentence, she can be packaged nicely and deported to Nigeria.

All the husband have to do is partition the DA with proof of a still existing marriage. But, as indicated in my other post, this is a hash approach, the better approach is just ask for divorce and move on.
FamilyRe: What Should He Do? by linearity: 1:34am On Jan 06, 2015
Bigamy is a crime in the US, since they have not divorced, if she has already married in the US; he should look up email address and contact info of the County DA where she is leaving in the US....send a message to the DA with proof of my marriage....if she has not remarried, then he can wait until she is officially married in the US.

They will prosecute and lock her up, at the end of her sentence, they will package her and return her to naija.

However, I will advice against this; you do not not want to hurt the mother of your kids this way and she will never forgive him and might even plan a bigger revenge on him after the humiliation.

I think I will agree with what many have said here that, Anger can make us talk nonesense.

...but the Bible says, out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh.

So even when someone speaks out of anger, the substance of their words means a lot....do not just discard it, that it is anger. She thought about it before saying it...now, it might not be because she is or is not a prostitute, the facts remains that she treasured her privacy with you and felt empty that you are going to leave her after eating her all these time, hence she was requesting for compensation.

You have to ask her why she placed emphases on this aspect? Other girls may feel used and dumped when faced with the same situation and might even punder about asking for compensation but will not say it for fear of coming across as cheap and a prostitute.

I blame the lady, she was caught red handed and she want to discuss it? What is there to be discussed?...I am curious to know her opening sentence to her husband when she attempt to discuss it...is it something.."honey can we please talk about what happen at the shop?".

The man will see it as her attempt to minimize, justify, blame the Devil, etc...She should have kneel down and start begging her husband, with tears, sorry, remorse, etc...what women do not understand with men is that, despite our Manchu or ego, we cannot stand the tears of our love ones, even if they have committed the worst thing on earth...that tears cut straight through to your heart, you see your wife in her weak and vulnerable and as the man, you naturally response to protect her.

Trying to discuss it sends the wrong signal, the man will see it as a way to rationalize what has happened and maybe he is still waiting to see that remorse, but a week is too late to show that. The guy must have concluded that, the wife is truly every worst thing he is thinking and just going through the emotions silently.

Just like every law in Nigeria, it appear Sharia law is only applicable to the poor and defenseless...so, do not tell me that it is all spiritual. Just like the Justice system is using the law to oppress the poor, the Muslim imams are using Sharia law to oppress the poor in their mix.

She can help on other things but for bride price, we have to pay because that's the tradition. A man must marry a woman not contrary.
If you want to apply that standard, you should go all the way....it is the man that is marrying the lady and not the other way around...so if it is kind of taboo or un-traditional for the lady to contribution money to her bride price, then she should not contribute any kobo towards to the traditional marriage.

Asking the lady not to contribute to the bride price but to contribute towards buying drinks or something else that will be needed is immaterial because, the guy will just reallocate the funds, whereas he was short on the bride price money before, now he can because the lady gave him money for the drinks or defer cost of other aspect of the traditional wedding...for all I care, the lady might have as well ask him not to use the money she is giving him for buying drinks or deferring the cost of other aspects of the traditional rites, but to use it specifically for paying her bride price.

So, anytime a lady contribute a penny towards her traditional wedding, she have actually indirectly/directly contributed towards her bride price.

3. Change Your Look

woman should never change her appearance or the way she looks only because her man desires so. Subtle changes are acceptable, like dressing and styling ones. But if he wants you to go for surgeries to change certain aspect of your appearance then never agree to it. He should admire your natural beauty and not work towards changing it. Just because he doesn’t like the way your nose looks or if he finds your ears too pointy, it should not guilt-trip you into going for something as drastic as a surgery.

Source: copy and paste grin
No.3 is a double edged sword and it cuts both ways and many ladies are guilty of it. To most ladies, marriage is a destination, it is a goal, etc...However to most guys, marriage is one item some of us need to check-off on our to-do list and immediately after, we go about the other todo items.

Just like every one of us relaxes, take a deep sign of relief, throw the cloths, shoes, books away carelessly when we arrive to our destination (or home after a hard day at work or school)...some ladies take the deep sign of relief, give up their looks, themselves, etc once they get married...after-all 'we don marry na'...they will say to themselves. Before they use to hit the gym, now no big deal; before they use to dress nicely before leaving the house, now no need..., they use to watch their weight and watch what they eat, no no more..."I no longer need to attract anyone now, I have my man' they may say...but the truth is, we still need to spice things up...do not let it go.

You remember the first time we saw you at the bus/stop and approached you to strike a conversation? it was what we saw that made us to cross the road and approach you...eventually when we started the relationship, we got to know you better and developed a deep liking and love for you, hence we decided that you are the one, we will spend the rest of our life with, but do not neglect the days of little beginnings, do not forget the foundation, do not forget who you were and how you look when we first saw you and got attracted to you, even when we don't know you from Eve or Adam...Yes we know that as we both age and grow old, some rough patches will appear here or there, we love those patches too, we only ask that you maintain them.
Nairaland GeneralRe: My Experience With Racists. by linearity: 2:12pm On Nov 30, 2014
Agreed, racism still exists...in fact more than we are willing to admit.

However, based on the narration you just rendered, it is not conclusive that it was racism. There could be other explanations. At least, before we label people, we should get irrefutable facts.

Alternate explanation:
It could have been stereotype. Stereotype is not racism, it is based on some facts, the problem with Stereotype is that, instead of viewing those facts as the exception, those who engage in Stereotype view them as the norm.

Without demeaning or been disrespectful, it is possible that your mouth, body, etc stinks and they are trying to get away. Yes your buddies might have not perceived anything, but remember that our view should be from the perspective of the guy and not your buddies.

It could be that, he is mistaking you for someone that he had less than polite encounter with in the past...yes, you might be 100% positive that! you have nit met this guy before....again, remember...we are viewing it from his perspective and not yours.

I could go on and on with plausible deniability scenarios that it could have been something else, but my goal is to use these few ones to enable you to think along those lines as well.

Bottom line is, let's give others the benefit of a doubt until all evidence including their utterances proves otherwise.

The part about the fire does not sound, how does the Pilot know, the Plane will catch fire on a hard land and even if they know, they will give out that information over the public address system...it serves no purpose, except to make people fear and panic.

Some like, "we radio the airport, we have emergency personnels waiting for, please obey the flight attendants' instructions and follow the direction of the emergency personnels on the ground"

4dbeta:
@Linearity
Well, these scriptures u quoted does not buttress the Op's idea of not getting married. Rather, it's encouraging being a eunuch for Christ. A eunuch doesn't marry or have sex. He's castrated either spiritually or biologically.
But the Op's idea of not getting married, is to remain single and having sex whenever he likes and to whoever he pleases thereby committing fornication. Will the scripture encourage fornication?
@4dbeta, I completely understand that, but you have forgotten that the Bible have the perfect model to live a fruitful and profitable life on earth here and that Christians and none Christians can tap into these Bible principles and be successful.

The reason the Bible and Paul advocates for eunuchs for God's services is because it frees one from distraction, thereby concentrating all your focus and energies on the things of God....There is nothing stopping a non-Christian from doing the same and instead focus on a career, a profession, or whatever and they will be successful just like the eunuch who focus on things of God.

Ignore the sex or sin, that is not really the issue. Sinners will commit sin and it is merely because they do not have the benefit and empowerment of the Holy Spirit to lead them out of sin. So we should not be caught up with that, I would have been shocked if the OP indicated that he is a born again christian and still want to commit sin. Blaming a sinner for committing sin is cheer ignorance or demanding that they stop committing sins is the same as patting yourself on the back for not committing sin or vowing that by your powers you will never commit sin...we all know that, it is by Grace.

Lets show them love, preach the saving grace of God; if they become saved...then the Holy Spirit will do His job.

I agree with the OP's position and it is a very wise position that will make him a successful individual, but I will also admonish that he should seek Jesus with the added spare time he will now have and he will be much more successful.

The reasons the bible, specifically St Paul gives for saying it's better to remain single is so all your time can be focused on the things of God 1st Cor 7:33. Not the misguided reasons killjoy gives. Come to think of it, I'm not into marriage myself, but not because I hate Men, but because I don't feel it's my calling. Everyone must not marry, but you need to be HAPPY About being single
We all know why Paul made these comments. If you look at it closely, the Bible is full of wisdom, principals for model life, guidance such that if the unbelievers follow it;s guiding principles, they will live a profitable live on earth here albeit without christ.

When I was in the University, one of our favorite Bible passages, was Paul's admonish to Timothyin 2 Tim 2:15..Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman who needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."..Though this passage was talking about studying the scripture, we also applied it to our Engineering books, calculus, etc.

I will not be surprised, if Paul in the Bible before he was converted will write exactly what the OP has written. He was a dedicated Bible scholar, a purity jew, who follows the laws of moses and was blameless...he took everything he did to the extreme and was well known and successful...but he was not saved. The same way, unbelievers today can apply Bible principals and be successful.

And it is wrong to preach the law to unbelievers, the Bible say it is alien to them...it is even more wrong to expect unbelievers to live a righteous life, you as a christian will be insulting the Holy Ghost if you have that expectation because, it is the Holy Ghost in you that is helping you to live a righteous live and it will be callous of you to expect the same from the unbeliever when they do not have the benefit and empowerment of the Holy Ghost.

So, it is perfectly normal for the OP to have sex outside marriage and also it is perfectly normal for him not to marry and he will be successful because the Bible have such a blueprint...it is not my position to judge him...all we can do is to preach Jesus and his Love to him and once they are Born Again, they will receive the Holy Spirit, which will empower them to forsake sin...Asking unbelievers to forsake Sin before they accept Christ is not only impossible, it achieves no purpose, because works without faith is dead.

I am surprise to see half-backed Christians, who only quote scriptures that supports their own opinions ignoring the fact that, the same scriptures also support also supports the OP's position for men of God...look through the Bible in the old and New Testament, great men that God used did not marry, as such fully dedicated their focus on the things of God without the many distractions that marriage undoubtfully brings. For every one married man mightily used by God either in the old or New Testament that you can mention, I will mention two who were not married and were used more mightilier by God.

The OP want to channel that same Focus and energy towards a career, an endeavor, etc....so arguing that the OP is wrong based on the Bible shows one's ignorance of the Bible.
