Even when Ethiopians were starving in mass – and I mean actual starvation – they were stoic and so dignified. I don’t believe anyone around the world witnessing Nigerians crying and acting so wildly would do so with much less than irritation and contempt but they aren’t going to let on. |
Nigerians don’t know the meaning of starvation. So many, big, thick or muscular looking people on you tube carry big mouth put for air, crying, ‘we are suffering, we are suffering, this government is wicked, waaa!' The thing the vex me no be small. I detest people that feel sorry for themselves. ![]() The looters are all thieves justifying their thieving with the narrative of suffering put in their skulls by those abroad with political motivation. |
Nigeria, regulate Social Media. |
On Nigeria the nation's part, educate the people on life abroad, showing them the good and the bad. Too many Nigerian have an unrealistic view of ABROAD. Nigeria needs to monitor Social Media. Nigeria needs to investigate Troll Houses. Nigeria needs to know her citizens better. Nigeria needs to register people at birth and death. Nigeria Desperately needs to keep a genetic database. Nigeria really needs to monitor immigration. |
He is right in many ways. I urge, beg Nigerians to stop automaticaly beliving what Nigerians abroad tell you. Question things, keep open minds, seek evidence. |
Militants killed Warri. Next round of Militant idiocy will burry Warri. |
femi4:27 (Nigerian age) ![]() |
Nigeria urgently needs a conversation about Social Media. ![]() If government cannot control access to social media then state governments need to initiate massive public education programs on the realities of the entire world. Right now, Nigerians appear ill informed, which is why they are so easily mislead. In other to believe your enemy turns into goat fortnightly, you need to possess a simple and unquestioning mind. Simple unquestioning minds are liable to believe the first thing. |
GeneralShepherd:So true. What i've noticed in England and all the European countries that i've travelled, is that there are no jails. No one commits crime. This is because Europe is affluent. Nigeria needs reporting to the ICJ and ICHR for violating the rights of people in Nigerian Jails. The government of Nigeria must free these people because whatever crimes they committed is justifiable given Nigeria’s poverty. In England for instance the police only keep the peace, which is unnecessary since youths are employed. |
Wow, what coincidence, all over the country, in every state, in palaces, churches, airports, government buildings, warehouses etc palliatives meant for the people are being hidden ready to be stolen by politicians and the elites. I’m sure if the hordes go to the ship docks, they will find ships full of containers harboring stolen goods meant for the people. Some ships are even carting away stuff meant for the people to politicians’ foreign homes ![]() Buhari most come out and condemn all the governors for trying to steal the people’s palliatives. We demand public inquires ![]() |
Nyanabo:Two things that will help you think more rationally: firstly, when many unequivocally believe something is true, step back and question it; secondly, ask yourself if a thing will stand up in court. ![]() |
The culture that has made too many Nigerians believe owls are their neighbours in disguise or that their village is responsible for their misfortunes is same one that causes Nigerians to see themselves, too easily, as epitomising corruptions. |
Some Nigerians upon the recent discovery of undistributed relief materials have taken to carting them away, berating the governors for stealing items meant for the public.https://saharareporters.com/2020/10/26/we-hid-palliatives-ahead-second-wave-covid-19-nigerian-governors-say Makes sense, I was always sceptical of the impression on Social Media that these palliatives were meant to be distributed to the public but had been kept back for private profit . |
planetx:Keep watching and you'll see that in the coming month some of these people will make their way to Europe claiming that their lives are in danger from Nigerian authorities due to authorities suspecting that they took part in activities related to the demonstrations. And, though you dispute it, the overriding belief of those that will try this, is that the West looked in sympathy and concern at their plight in Nigeria. But contrary to their belief, and yours it would seem, nations of the West will disregard their own asylum policies, they will look on the migrants as yet another set of people trying to get into Europe. And in the very highest levels, officials will be worrying that these people claiming that they are fleeing Nigeria because of possible reprisals, will be potential trouble makers if let into europe. Someone like DJ Switch, or whatever she is called, will stand better chance of asylum if she wanted it. The rabbles out there stand no chance, especially with all those looting, burning and killing last week. ...the point is not that the looters are dying to get to Europe but that many believe in the back of their minds that the rest of the world is with them. I used immigration in order to show how in a practical way this is not the case. |

abdsamad:Even before the Internet and social media age of instant video uploads and mobile phones, significant mass protest participants around the world were aware of the world eyes on their issues. Sixties protest movement exemplifies this, from Vietnam War to the civil rights marches. Even in the 1900 to 1910, the suffragettes were keenly aware how what they did played out to the wider nation and world (rest of Europe) because of the media (news papers). African Americans and the suffragettes could not hope to influence government policies without believing that their protests and civil disobedience would receive worldwide attention that hopefully caused their goverment embarrassment. |
Some persons keep boastfully shouting that the Zoo is finished without informing the Zoo animals of their likely fate in the event. Healthy Zoo animals (equivalent to the rich and middle class) find homes in better Zoos. The remaining animals are put down. |
dasparrow:Many of those looting have put their hopes in the West, whether in the West coming to save them at some point, the West as role model for what they want in Nigeria, or the West as place they will run to in future. Many Diaspora Nigerians made a great deal about the West watching and much of their appeal has been to the West. America is the West to many of these people and in many ways they are right since significant amount of European nations have similar views and philosophise to America. The difficulties of attaining American citizenship that you pointed out are partly my point. You overlooked that many of these people are ignorant of this and do believe somehow America will be salvation in one way or another. |

Some idiotic Nigerians think the West is looking on and applauding. But actually the West, especially America hate, really hate looters. If all the poor in Nigeria were on a list of those America was looking to give visa or take in as poor persecuted people, not one individual involved in looting would be taking. Nigerians on the ground able to read something like this better rethink. America admires poor honest, hard working people. That poor Nigerian ballet dancer, kids striving to clean their dirty environment, kids studying hard near to mud and excreta are the types of poor America admires or would accepts into America. Contrary to that which anonymous persons online would have Nigerians believe, America does not hate Nigerians Americans liked Nigerians because Nigerians are or were strivers, people that succeed through hard work and determination in spite of the odds. These looting spectacles in Nigeria hurt the poor more than they know. It is damaging the reputation of poor Nigerians. The external audience you’re playing to are very observant. You can’t fool them by acting as if you were taking what belonged to you last week evident in looting Covid palliatives today. |
Metaltears:BBC Radio... Still, you're right evidence is key and we should wait and see what eventually transpires as acceptable relative truth |
On radio, says Nigerians have hijacked a ship and are off the coast of isle of White, Britain. I feared some were going to exploit these Protest Incident in Nigeria to pretend their lives are in danger and they would like asylum or something... |
www.nairaland.com/attachments/12570189_iduindustrialarea5_jpeg0fab6cdf79e5ca1968944d301fa60712 The entitled hordes. After the civil war my grandfather was penniless. He had my grandmother and seven children, including my father, to feed. They lived in Zink, wood and wrapper hovel in muddy Warri. Before he died he had pulled his family out of poverty and sent some to school abroad. Government gave him nothing and he asked government for nothing. |
bdchange:That is if their doorstep is in Nigeria. The world, not just Nigeria, need to discourse Social Media. |
PaChukwudi44:Childish and petulant comparison. People supposedly massacred at Lekki won't run away, there were many video recording, they have families, friends, even if police or and soldiers took away the bodies. 78 human beings apparently killed in public view, in this age of smartphones, cannot be hidden. If Authorities are bent on covering up, then evidence is required to prove that Authorities are trying to cover up. Evidence required is straightforward, shouting that everyone saw the killings or that you personally stepped over dead bodies does not cut it. |
While at it, some of you should write petition concerning the stupidity and irresponsibility of unregulated Social Media. Social Media is perhaps one of the most important issues in the world concerning our collective security and a conversation is desperately needed. |
afube:Why is he a buffoon? Evidence is needed especially given how crucial this is to democracy in Nigeria both for authorities and the people’s need to protest in future. It is not good enough to just say, 'the army took away bodies' or that 'families are being prevented from coming forward to ask for their dead relatives'. Evidence is needed. You need evidence, hard evidence that no one can deny, that a massacre took place! And those that argue none took place also require evidence. Frankly, in this issue, how offended you feel or anyone feels about other people daring to question deaths at Lekki, is emotional and irrelevant! Even if people are littering the floor dead, the evidence of thire deaths by solders need to be a formal enquiry. It has to be done with committees, peoples representative, television, courts, families , in other to bring closure. This needs independent investigation, enquiry and court hearing, families of dead need to be brought forward. People wre not scared to riot, burn property, behead police and kill soldiers; families of the supposed Lekki deaths will not be afraid to come forward. If their whereabouts are unknown well they had better become known. Also it’s not good enough to say the president or state governors say deaths too place or did not take place. They were not there in person and whatever facts are at their disposal, brought to them by those in the know, needs to be made public and official trough due processes or we create processes. |
MODS! [s]see the post above. The one above the one above.[/s] |
Amotolongbo:So no one died of Covid in the US? Nigeria needs good health care; let us all keep advocating for better health care. These attributing heaven to foreign nations does nothing to push the better health agenda in Nigeria even one step further. |
Close the border or don’t open it, some of this hijacking of the peaceful protest may have been about engineering starvation so Nigeria would import rice. Well, you never know ![]() |
