PoliticsRe: Buhari: Disbanding Of SARS First Step To Extensive Police Reforms by Litmus: 4:15pm On Oct 12, 2020
Extensive Police Reforms
Start with the commitment to pay police well. Make policing one of Nigeria’s top paying jobs.

Isn’t it funny how majority of young people when in the first flush of social political awareness and you ask them, 'what Career do you believe should be well-paid?', often say, Policing and Road Sweepers. As mature people, we unfortunately forget this idealistic but true position.

Nigeria is not going to be well served by the police if reforms starts and ends with the Punish end of reforms neglecting the Carrot bit.

nairalanders,. Make una help me see trouble o. See as people take dey loose their life for something that doesn't not in any way concern them.
Dude has a point. You can’t have that 24/7 electricity power you all want without sacrifices. I guess you’re going to think, ‘you don’t mind paying your bills, but not when the bill is "too" high’. Unfortunately you’ll soon experience what I call the psychology of bills paying when Nigeria becomes a Nation that collects taxes properly and utilises those taxes to provide you all with appropriate services. You’ll find that no matter how small your bills are, if you have to pay them regularly, and a lifetime of this stretches ahead, you'll find that your bill will soon seem too high.

The dude is worried that now that you got your way with SARS, you all will want to protest about everything - in a sort of self-indulgent and entitled way - such as not wanting to pay for your utility bills, rent, tolls etc.

Rrotests will never ever work in this country and our leaders know that, hence their continued disrespect for us. If a Yoruba man leads a protest in Nigeria, Igbos will slander him, those who don't share his religious sentiment will slander him. If an Igbo man leads a protest, Yorubas and Ijaws will slander him... until we realise we are fighting a common enemy and fight in agreement, we can't achieve much in terms of protests undecided
Backnbeta, see, my words below came true.

Litmus
Protest can happen in Nigeria. Nigerians can be persuaded across ethnic and even religious affiliations to protest for a cause that benefits the nation. It needs someone or a broad coalition of individuals dedicated enough to organise it. Sowore could have done it but he appears to be calling for a revolution that begins with a protest. He is wrong and Nigerians are smart to reject it.

FG budgets N336m to fight hate speech, others
Too small, this requires greater spending. Hate speech and the general monitoring of Social Media are crucial if Nigeria is to survive and prosper. Nigeria needs also to find a way of discovering those behind the Social Media campaigns telling lies about Nigeria in order to discourage foreigners visiting Nigeria. Nigeria needs to do likewise about those external forces brainwashing Nigeria’s young minds.

Reading the above, some Nigerians will be fuming and those Africans that are not Nigerians but who work in Troll houses targeting Nigeria will be slightly frustrated; however, all should be warned that the use of Social Media to destroy Nigeria will not end there. This threatens all of Africa. After all, at its inception, those that sold the Internet to the US congress did so by explaining how the Internet was going to give voice to oppressed people of the third world. Don’t be fooled by these apparently enlightened sounding sentiments, they are merely coded words meaning Internet will enable America to control the world through controlling the young and local dissidents.

Is the #EndSARS protest Nigeria's version of Arab Spring that brought down many bad governments across North Africa?

The Arab Spring was a series of anti-government protests, uprisings, and armed rebellions that spread across much of the Arab world in the early 2010s. It began in response to oppressive regimes and a low standard of living, starting with protests in Tunisia.
How did the Arab spring end, pray tell.

Crap. Absolute tosh and rubbish!

I found nothing but love, kindness and consideration shown to me by Nigerians when I was in Nigeria. Abroad, Nigerians are the only blacks that will advice other black people, fight for them and respect his fellow black persons and through his or her personal achievements generate the little respect given to blacks by other races.

Revolution doesn't have to be overthrowing a democratically elected govt na. Even a person with half a brain know that it is disastrous to the progress of any society and nation at large, and even opposition parties who see the big picture knows it's not a sustainable way to take power because table can turn when they get there.

Revolution in this contest is call for more government reforms in bettering the life of average Nigerians. More involvement in electoral process, because we the youth don't vote enough. That should change. When politicians sees that youths are starting to use their numbers to bring about reforms, they'll start taking us serious and start making decisions and policies that affects us directly in a positive way. This is just the beginning. I believe more is to come in the very nearest future
Calling for more government reforms is not a Revolution. Revolution in this context (political) is the forcible overthrow of a government or social order, in favour of a new system.
Foreign AffairsRe: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Litmus: 2:30pm On Oct 11, 2020
This revolution that people keep mouthing with the ease of fashion level inspiration, what do they even mean by it? And where does overthrow of democratically elected government instigated by opposition party end and revolution begin if by revolution they mean taking down a democratically elected government?

I say 'instigated by opposition party', because it may as well amount to this, since history will judge it thus or significant amount of citizens will believe, whether or not in reality true.

Stupid remarks like yours help empower the likes of those Libyan murderers. A more accurate assessment would be to admit that Libyans have become a more barbaric people, dehumanized by decade war brought about by external meddling. Besides this, Nations have laws and those laws apply equally to all above the personal considerations of individuals and their motivations, respect has nothing to do with it.

People like you need to stop brainwashing young Nigerians and conditioning them to approach the world from the perspective of self criticism and inferiority instead of right and wrong relative to relevant national laws.

Eagba:
according to what you said, what do you suggest we do as a people. concerning lobster and export. because I've seen the same thing happened about Nigeria exported dry fish. and please don't mention china as one if your remedies
My brother, I don’t know. I can only make suggestions that amount to small beginnings that will not help folks like you right now. One of these small things is to suggest our people need better understanding of how the world works. For instance, while we acknowledge our Nigeria deficiencies and work to eliminate them, we also need to recognize that all Nations indulge in corrupt practices. Nigeria’s corruption, for instance, is outstanding mainly because Nigerians and not Westerners are in control of our corruption.

Anyway, recognizing and accepting that corruption is practiced by all will help us be less defensive and more competitive in advocating our rights. How this works in practices would be something like using platforms like Trust Pilot to mount a negative reviews campaign on foreign institutions like Paypal and, according to you, those “many international agencies that don't allow Nigerians in Nigeria to use their platform for business. Many websites are blocking Nigerians

So instead of despairing and excusing them my believing and telling yourself and others that: “Those of us who work online will atheist to this. The reason many websites are blocking Nigerians is due to fraud
We go commando instead of defensive. We pretend we haven’t got a clue why they are preventing us and instead accuse them of poor business practices and prejudice. We flood sites like Trust Pilot we negative reviews on these companies, warning third world people not to uses their services.

I did something like this once to a company that suddenly started boycotting Nigerians and it worked. I knew that they were targeting Nigerians because research that I did brought up lots of Nigerians complaining and blaming themselves and Nigeria’s reputation. I didn’t adopt these other Nigerians attitude instead I targeted the company for refusing to continue serving the Nigeria market for me. I went on all sites that allow people to review businesses and wrote scathing reviews about them and advised third world people to no longer use their services but use rival ones.

I bet you if only a handful of Nigerians like you began a determined and coordinated negative reviewing campaign on Papal, for instance, accusing it of prejudice, Paypal will change its Nigeria policies by next year. Unfortunately, we Nigerians waste too much energy cussing ourselves instead of being proactive.

But in America, police kill blacks often too. What we need here is not to end Sars. If u end Sars. Those officers will be posted to other units. What we need is strong institutions that punish people when they do bad.

So many things are wrong with Nigeria. We need strong institutions that will identify true fraudstars and punish them accordingly.

Take for instance, many international agencies don't allow Nigerians in Nigeria to use their platform for business. Those of us who work online will arrest to this. The reason many websites are blocking Nigerians is due to fraud. I have been denied many contracts online from abroad agencies once they discover that I am a Nigerian. But not all of us are fraudsters na. So what we need is strong institutions that handle issues without bias becus of a truth, naija is dangerous, from kidnappers to armed robbers to internet fraudsters to political criminals, etc. So, Sars is still very much needed. What we need is a way, a better way to deal with security men who do things not needed of them. Simple!
They are not blocking Nigerian business because of fraud reputation, these are excuses, there’s a sort of invincible International Trade Cartel instituted by Western nations on Africa that works to prevent African Nations trading on a level ground internationally. Whatever businesses or products Africa nations sell on the international market, if these business or product sell competitively or threaten to do so, something will be found and implemented that will adversely impact these African nations competitiveness. For instance, you flood the market with Lobsters and it challenges US producers, suddenly your lobsters will be said to be from contaminated waters and banned.
