samkoro: What prompted the western invasion in the first place?where was Gowon commanding from? The West was never considered an enemy as at the time, the reason why Banjo was given charge.

You already knew that it was the presence of northern troops in the west that prompted the move.
Banjo was given which charge? He was simply a figure head. He could only blame himself for the mess he found himself. I noticed you could not provide JUST 5 Yoruba officers in this majority Yoruba led force. From the lies you throw around, I really shouldn't take you serious.

And once again, what part of "negotiations were going on to move the Northern troops in the West to the North" don't you understand? Western leaders were already handling this. Nobody asked Ojukwu for "liberation". Even worse, he started his "liberation" move without informing the Western leaders who till this point he gave the impression were allies. Who in his right mind, especially in a military sense does this? Even far worse, we are aware of what his unruly bunch did in the Mid-West. In war, you make sudden and rash moves and you lose. Simples.

samkoro: Was it not col Banjo and majority of yoruba soldiers that were assigned to lead the offensive in the West to neutralise the northern troops in the West?
Majority Yoruba? Can you mention 5 Yoruba men in this majority Yoruba led force?

You see, unlike you tribal monkeys, Yorubas are not driven by tribal sentiments. It is easy to see through the tribal move made by Ojukwu here (which sometimes makes it difficult to believe this was a Cambridge graduate). He thought simply putting a so called Yoruba man (Victor Banjo was actually a Mid-Westerner) as the head of the force would make the force he led receptive by the Yorubas. Yet at the same time he had undermined the command of the same Victor Banjo by sending Igbo soldiers led by a Mid-Western Igbo officer - Lt Col Ochei - with specific tasks which Banjo was unaware of (one of which was to capture the Governor of the Mid-Western region - Lt Col David Ejoor - dead or alive but who managed to escape). Is that the majority Yoruba force you speak of? So it was the Yoruba men in the force that committed the atrocities in the Mid-West? Try again.

pazienza: Apart from rubbish revisionist articles written by yoruba media, there is no evidence of the so called biafra atrocities in the mid west. Where as the atrocities of the nigerian army on biafran civilians are well documented.
LMAO. Another m0r0n. Yes indeed; it's only the poor Biafran people that suffered untold atrocities in the hands of Nigerian troops. Check to be sure you are human and not an ostrich.

Anyway we know that u guys re waiting for the north to take over again so u continue taking nigeria backwards shameless people
Look here dumb-azz. No smart Yoruba believes holding the presidency will magically turn around the woes of our region. Obasanjo was there for 8 years (plus the previous 3 years making 11 years). That must be an Igbo thing. I suppose you guys are still reminiscing on the good times during the Ironsi regime when he took nepotism to new heights.

icon aus: Ur story is what u were told . U intentionally avoided an important part showing that u re bias , Who started the war ? did ojukwu just decide to attack ? he was attacked first and the quickest way to end the war was to capture lagos being the capital so that gowon and co would surender and obey the aburi accord thinking that the Yoruba peolpe would cooperate . Anyway it had happened , we all learnt and unfortunately the yorubas got on the bad book of igbos and that is the fact . Yorubas knew what they did that is the reason u hardly see them in the east meanwhile the igbos are welcoming to any tribes . What alliance are u talking about ? Fake alliance with awolowo who wanted the fall of igbos at all cost . If the alliance was there , why u didnt yorubas support the aburi accord ?
It is obvious you also smoke the same kind of gbana that damaged Ojukwu's brain so badly; which was why he was always paranoid and seeing "sabos" everywhere.

I did not tell you a story; I told your dumb-azz history. So you ask me who started the war; was it the people of the Mid-West? I know you have no value for life, but you can go explain to the hundreds of murdered Mid-Westerners and the r@ped females that they were just collateral damage. Their sacrifice to the cause of Biafra is highly appreciated.

I can understand you being dumb and all, cannot see anything wrong with a plan to march all the way through Mid-West and West to Lagos by land to capture Gowon. Only a m0r0n could've come up with that plan. The fact that you are even asking me about "what alliance" shows you don't even know much about the Nigerian Civil War. I guess you are just here to moan over a cup of kain-kain.

LMAO. So the reason you don't see Yorubas in the East is because of "what they did", not because of the absence of opportunities (which by the way is the reason for the mass exodus from the East)?

icon aus: you are bitting about the bush . Then when regional ideation resurfaced again under aburi what happened ? in a conflict between 2 the third person should try to be neutral and not to take side that was actually what happened between the north, east and west . For the yorubas to have taken side with north does not vindicate u guys; it demostrated anti igbo and that is where yorubas wrong igbos and that stays . u guys attracted that lack of trust to yourself as far as igbos are concerned .
Mugu, should I once again outline events for you?
Here goes:

1. July '66 counter-coup and pogroms; Igbo masses slaughtered in the North. Eastern soldiers are moved to the East; Northern soldiers to the North. Only the West still had Northern soldiers.
2. Western leaders start the agitation, maneuvering and politicking to get the Northern soldiers moved from the West to the North.
3. While this was going on, the East (who were supposed to be the allies of the West) without coordinating with their so called allies in the West begin a push towards Lagos and annex the Mid-West; and committed all kinds of atrocities - r@pe, murder, looting, etc.
4. The Western leadership begin to doubt the "alliance" with the East and realize they may after all be ignorant of the intentions of the East.
5. The West decide to resist the Eastern push to Lagos and as they say, the rest is history.

Now given the chronology (please feel free to present any refutations), who here was the traitor?

Once again, I hope these people know the difference between a small airplane and a private jet. There are small airplanes (propeller driven) that are priced within the same range as luxury cars. Meaning if you can afford a luxury car, you can afford a small airplane.

Lol. Who's that m0r0n who thinks Ojukwu and Aburi Accord were the first to suggest a confederation? What was the regional system Nigeria operating before Ironsi came with Unification Decree (Decree 34)? Did each region not operate with some level of autonomy? Maybe you should ask Ironsi what he was thinking; since he apparently came in to implement NCNC agenda (the Unification Decree was much touted by the NCNC).

mimifonwon: another thing this so called historian wrote that is an opinion and not fact is this:"In the first instance, the Igbo first lost the golden opportunity to have Chief Awolowo fully on their side when, neither General Ironsi nor Col. Ojukwu failed to see the wisdom in releasing the former from prison custody in Calabar. Chief Obafemi Awolowo had to wait for the six or seven months before he could be released and granted amnesty by General Yakubu Gowon, who subsequently elevated him."

for as many outside international source has noted, ojukwu was the one that facilatated his release.
Lol. Ridiculous. Who is the International source? Fredrick Forsythe by any chance? I submit you have no clue what you are talking about.

That's not the same tax rate for earnings from work; this one applies to the lottery AND the form of payment (one-time payment). Though you may pay close to 40% tax if you are a single (unmarried) salary earner.

I strongly believe there is something Rio & co are hiding & he may not be lucky next time; Suzanne might pull the trigger.
Blah blah blah. Investigator...how about the shorter explanation - she's mentally unbalanced.

Just to be clear, Rio is 33 years old; and has been married for about 4 years. So let's say they lived together right till before Rio married, then they had been living together since Rio was 14 years old. Makes a lot of sense doesn't it?

freecocoa: My own concern is why the tax equals almost half of the money?
I believe the single cash payment option has the high tax rate (close to 50%). There is another option where you don't get paid in full immediately but spread over a period; that has a lower tax rate if I remember correctly.

Ijebulogic: I see your point. I'm interested in knowing specifically what the law says. I know of a recent case where a British man was sentenced to jail for shooting and injuring (not killing) some rascal teenagers attempting to break into his house. There was outrage in the UK but that was the law. Our law is based on UK common law, so please lawyers in the house should guide us on what our rights are in Nigeria.
I think where you may have gotten it wrong was in the case of the British man, the kids did not present any threat (as in just burglars and not armed). And there may have been use of excessive force meaning after threatening with a gun, he may not have needed to fire the gun. Lastly, he may have illegal possession of the gun. Sorry, I didn't really bother to refresh on the circumstances around the shooting.

Mad Cow: Why should we call them?!

Abi them no dey buy fuel outside?!
Reason a little for yourself. Do you realize how many petrol stations are out there? They are not Big Brother so without reports being filed by customers, they will not be able to determine all the dubious petrol stations.

Just yesterday I reported one such petrol station. I got to the station and was informed by the attendant that they were selling for 110/liter. I immediately left and bought else where (not even up to 5 km away on the same road) for the standard 97/liter.

igbos suffered greatly in civil war just to keep one nigeria, as a result igbos are living that one nigeria imposed on them however.
And believe you me, it could have been a different story if the Igbos were led by a person with more maturity, tactical knowledge and finesse.

Note that igbos are not cowards like you people and besides, this is one nigeria!!!! for which many nigerians lost their lives . As per the kidnapping , yorubas are the insiders in the kidnap . They recruited the brave igbos to do the job . The real story will eventually come out . Ok what about 2 yourbas that were involved in Alu atrocity lawal and segun . Who invented 419 , drug trafficking and oluwale thing ( fake passport , fake documents etc ) Are they not yorubas based in lagos?
1. Returning to the killing fields of the North is not bravery; it is stup!dity of the highest order because it indicates you are incapable of learning.
2. Kidnapping does not indicate bravery; it is a criminal offense. How brave can you be when 5 MEN with GUNS go pick up a WOMAN?
3. You obviously suffer from some sort of complex; I pointed out to you that Igbos live in far away Osun state and you begin to rant about "crimes committed by Yorubas".

icon aus: Enough of this yoruba claiming of being accomodative . If not for lagos , igbos would not have migrated to the west in good number . Have you people forgotten that Lagos was the capital of nigeria for yrs hence the migration of many nationalities to lagos including igbos being migratory in nature . To say the truth , the igbos are more in north than the west .The north are more easy to deal with and the most honest tribe in Nigeria to work with or do business with if not because of their religion ( Islam) which tends to mislead them some times . Igbos are in the west because of Lagos which happened to be the capital of Nigeria. Other tribes tends to avoid residing in the east because they cannot compete with igbos in business and other human endeavour . Not in terms hostility . igbos are not hostile to their visitors .They accomodate other tribes in the east . They dont attack them as long you stay and do your business. Even despite immense provocation by the northerners against the igbos residing in the North , igbos still keep calm and wouldnt reteirate in the east . The bottom line is that other nationalities esp yorubas are scared of coming down to east to invest because of cowardice .
Right...right...can you explain what the Igbo guys that kidnapped the wife of a politician were doing in Osun State? Or is Osun State part of Lagos? Even more mind boggling, why would any Igbo people return to the North after the Civil War in large numbers as if they had quickly forgotten the pogroms that eventually culminated in the Civil War? Some people like to say "Insanity is defined as doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result" (not that I subscribe to such a simplistic point of view), but maybe you can provide some illumination, especially considering that the same thing has happened over and over (as in mass killings)?
