What are you on about , did shevy not score a legitimate goal against Barca to take the game to over time, but the ref blew against it cause he thought he had fouled Puyol to get an advantage. The Pool are a cup final team: They were the last English team to win the UCL (Won it 5 TIMES), They Won the FA cup also coming back from behind, They won the Charity shield beating the so called Cheski.

Fact is put a cup in front of the pool and they play their hearts out, and you forget Benitez is spanish and was the coach of Valencia, so no love lost btw him and Barca (also xabi Alonso and the Luis Garcia)

So the pool can do it on their day, ffs they came back to beat AC Milan in what would have been a one sided final.

Jackal you and i know ARSENAL lost that Final cause TH14 did not kill off Barca,even with 10 men, if Henry had taken any of the 3 chances that came his way, Barca would have gone back empty handed. But thats the way football goes .

That Arsenal team beat Real, Juve, Ajax, Villareal (with out conceding a goal ) on the way to the final, and didn't concede until the later stages of the final match with 10 mins to go, so Jackal give us some credit.

We have beaten you guys at OT and the POOL this season (lets see how we do against the Roman Army on sunday)

In footie anyone can beat anyone on their day, You lost twice on the row to FC Copenhagen and Celtic so you can't talk, (We lost at Russia, when it should have been a draw from TH's disallowed goal (you know this) Also luck ran out at home, when we should have beaten CSKA by 10 clear goals but it didn't happen.

What i am trying to say, anyone can beat anyone, you can't be champs of the CL if you start avoiding teams, Roma beat Valencia the night before, and i think Real lost, so its the day that counts not the hype before the game, cause if it was about hype jackal, we would have had no chance against Real or Juve.

WE CAN only guess what's really going on with Thierry Henry, so here's my guess.

Someone on the board had told Arsene Wenger to sort him out.

Arsene hasn't had the bottle to confront his superstar until now.

But I think they've made him do it. They've made him grasp the nettle. They've made him stop ignoring the elephant in the room.

Maybe the sponsors are unhappy with Henry's behaviour. Maybe the sponsors want the manager to sign more proven players.

Maybe the sponsors are unhappy that AW only wants to do it his way, with pace and gifted foreign kids.

To see Arsene on Match of the Day, taking about the Henry situation, was fascinating.
His face spoke volumes.
His tone of voice spoke further volumes.
He refusal to say more than two lines was the British Library.

THIS WAS something radically new, something we have never seen before.

Until now the Arsenal board has worshipped the ground Arsene Wenger walks on and until now Arsene has worshipped the turf that Thierry Henry prances on.

But maybe the board don't want Arsenal to spend another season struggling for fourth place in the league.

WHAT ABOUT WEDNESDAY NIGHT, Matchday 6 in the so-called Champions League ?

A team that can thrash Spurs 3-0 might be able to draw 1-1 in Porto on Wednesday night.

If Arsenal win they will have beaten Man United, Spurs and Porto without Thierry Henry.

If they lose it might be a good thing in the long term.

It would allow them to put right what is going wrong. No one player is a team or a club. If Thierry Henry is not performing he should not be in the team. If he was at Manchester United, Chelsea or Liverpool he would have been dropped two months ago.

It would allow Arsenal to concentrate on finishing above Portsmouth, Liverpool, Reading and Aston Villa.

Long-term, who knows what will happen at the club?

West Ham was sold after Aston Villa was sold after Man United was sold after Chelsea was sold.
Liverpool will soon be bought by an American.

After Liverpool, who's next ?

I don't know but I'm fairly sure chief shareholder Danny Fiszman won't be around after Arsene Wenger goes.

Three weeks ago, before I went to Colorado, I heard a story about Thierry Henry.

Apparently, after the 1-1 draw against Middlesbrough on Saturday, September 9, Arsene wasn't happy and told the players he wanted them in on the Sunday.

Allegedly, Henry said, "I'm not coming in tomorrow." And Arsene had to speak to him privately.

And then Henry was dropped for the next two games. But the manager said he was injured.

The two games he missed were the 2-1 victory in Hamburg and Manchester United, where they won 1-0.

It's an interesting story and Arsenal fans can choose to believe the story, or not.

Do I believe it? Yes, because I trust my source.

Yes, because that happens quite a lot. A manager says a player is injured because he doesn't want to play him.

He can't drop him publicly without a media rumpus, so he drops him secretly.

Second Issue gooners: PERSONNEL

Now i have said so much of this in the past. so no need for any major rant here. What i do feel is the defence needs either a shake up or consistency instead of changing players each game (baring injuries)

My ideal defensive senario is Lauren/Toure/Gallas/Clicy

i feel we should buy Curtis Davis NOW!! not tomoorow Mr Wenger but now in the up coming transfer window- We can then have Djourou/Senderos/Hoyte as back up

Midfield. Well i feel we are blessed there (like i said its the tactics being used that is our downfall) I also feel enough is enough. Goodbye Song!! Goodbye Freddie. Well we can keep Flamster as swuad member, What do you all feel about a bid for SWP (won't get him i know as its the Russians. but pissing Jose off won't go amiss either)

We have the Beast/Diaby coming back so no problems in that department. Do we need Ribery

Lets not be decieved. The 4-5-1 works when you don't allow the other team to score you in the first 10 mins. The game with the scum didn't produce a goal till the 84th min. so we could use that tactics to good effect like we did in the CL last season.

Unfortunately the team now begs people to score them first and then the new one. In the first 10 mins. This mean we begin to panic as now we have to chase a goal., or is that 2 goals like the Fulham bolton game. The team now gets confused as to what tactics to use now. as they were set up with 4-5-1 in mind. so there becomes a shift to 4-4-2.

If you read the Cesc Statements i provided he said that the tactics and change in tactics were confusing them.

Wenger should stick to 1 tactic that the team gets us to, then when he makes subs, he can then let them know how he wants the team to perform.

4-5-1 is a defensive ploy. 4-4-2 is an attacking ploy

Arsenal need to be the ones scoring the early goals and then force teams to play and open up the game more.

Other issues in subsequent posts coming up. Lets keep the dscussion going chaps. As every gooner with a pc is discussing on every Arsenal forum there is, so yu realise there is a situation that has to be addressed

We need to let the gaffer know how we feel about the recent debacle.

What do you all feel about this, i have said it that 4-5-1 is a problem, we can use it sparingly, but we don't need it all the time. We are better with 4-4-2.

I really believe we all have to start letting the Manager know that all these gambles he is taking, is showing us that he is taking the fans for granted. My guys say a lot of fans are now saying that they will start to boo any player that is not performing (which was an unheard of thing with Gooners )

Come on guys we are not in a funeral palour

We lost to Fulham and are 6th on the table (just 3 points from being 3rd)

The league is gone, no doubt, but we are still in the Cup comps, so we still have much to play for.

We are going through some stuff, but patience is a virtue, we have been spoilt by the Football arsenal have played in the Wenger era, that we get irritated easily, if you had been supporting Arsenal before the Graham era, (During the Don Howe era and co) when the Pool dominated the league, and Arsenal regularly finished mid table, what would you do.

We are fans, instead of feeling down for long, let us pick ourselves up, we face the Spuds on Saturday and then its off to Porto on wenesday, then its the Maureen brigade on saturday, so really no need for all the negativity.

Are we playing to our potential!! No! Could we do better!! Yes!!

But realise that AW is as gutted as we are, i really don't blame him (apart from alex Song and Flams at right back, what song is doing in an Arsenal shirt i have no F@*king idea, he and ade should be sent out on long spell loans) I believe the players are not pulling their weight.

As a player you play for pride, your shirt and then your manager, we had no business losing to fulham, even with our string team, the players didn't just fight, there was no steel!! no heart!! no grit!!

Even at that if Henry's goal was allowed, and walcot found the net, it would have been a draw (undeserved though) the rub of the green is not shining on us right now, i mean could anyone explain CSKA at the grove, all those chances, we would normally bury that team, besides if the good goal we score in russia had stood, we would not be in this mess, so people we just need to get some luck (i mean 3 strikes against the bar at the reebok, how unluck is that, what did chelsea play yesterday, but they grinded the result)

We just need to find some consistency, and if you have been a gooner for a while you will know that we have never had good Novembers , under Wenger (thank God its ending tommorow )

Its good we have hard games coming up, and the team has to face the music, that is the only way they will learn.

Henry not winning FIFA award is not the end of the world, and i really do not think its TH's priority right now. Trophies are what he is after, individual awards are good, but they can come at any time.

I mean two of the best directors in the world (in my opinion) have not won Oscars (Scorsese and Altman; although they gave Altman a life time achievement award just before he kicked the bucket) yet they keep sucking Spielberg's a@* even when he made Forrest Gump So TH's time will eventually come before he retires believe that.

Firstly if your analysis was correct, we wouldn't have scored against you guys, i mean cesc dispossed C Ronaldo and then layed off the ball to Adebayor and he scored first time, the same way Cesc layed of the ball for RVP against hamburg and he scored first time, the same against Reading, i could go on.

The problem for Arsenal is not the personnel but the formation, 4-5-1 restricts the way the team can play, as Wenger feels that since there is a lack of a big destroyer a la Maka, or Essien, he should flood the midfield. The problem is he is only left with Technical players like Cesc who plays a riquelme role, or Hleb. who likes to dribble.

The problem also lies in selection, Most of our goals have come from the Cesc / Helb /Eboue triangle, We have direct players like Theo and Hleb to a large extent, but its the philosophy of looking for a better placed team mate that kills our moves, if you noticed against Bolton, Theo got behind their defence a couple of times, and instead of doing what he would normally do while under Redknapp at southhampton, which is to take on the last man and shot, he kept laying the ball back to find a non existent team mate.

Usually Bobby Pires or DB10 is in the hole to score those type of goals, but right now we do not have a clear cut finisher, TH14 is getting older and paces him self more now, thats why he now cuts in from the wings and tries to layoff the ball. Cesc, Hleb and Rosicky should be taken aside and given target practice, also Theo and Baptista should also be given shooting practice.

We create enough chances to win 30 games, all we need to do is put them away. Another problem is our ability to always go behind, this is an annoying trend, and generally creates a rush mentality, which if we could avoid, would make us relax and tear teams apart. We were relaxed against the Mancs cause it was still goaless till the Ade goal, if we had gone behind, we would have lost or drawn that game. Anyway enough of Arsenal, my views on the Spuddy game
