I do not see why some people are taking this issue personal, the OP's position is "Reasons Why You Should Travel Abroad For Greener Pastures If You Get The Chance" and he backed it up with some obvious facts, so people painting America as a country with racism, immorality, and injustice tell me if all these are not witnessed in Nigeria on daily basis. I am not saying one country is better than the other, but most developed countries provide the enabling environment for whoever wishes to reach the pinnacle without cheating or knowing anybody at the top because your hard work will speak for you. |
tolyem: by nicemax: 1:00pmI have a little suggestion for all intending to study in Canada. It is best you enroll yourself in a diploma or post graduate diploma program that spans for period of 2 years. Opting for longer or shorter program is not advisable as I know the ultimate aim of majority, if not all, is to migrate and integrate themselves into the system. There is a program that facilitates your residency and citizenship if you opt for any of the aforementioned programs. People going for master's program have a slim chance of staying longer legally to qualify for residency or citizenship as it does not last for more than 18 months and you only get a year work permit and if you think of doing a Bsc. program which is 4 years; that's conservatively 60,000 CAD , that is a whole lot of money to spend for Canada being a foreigner and don't think you will be able to hustle some part-time work to patch-up things. That said, the diploma programs are the only fastest way to integrate yourself to the system if you are not planning to do anything illegal like marrying, impregnating citizen or stowing away. |
dtanigwe: Just felt like I should update...It is very disheartening to hear the atrocities fellow Nigerian men commit, but the truth is: everyone is different and no particular race or ethnic group devoids its bad eggs.My advise is that you work with whomever you are with in being a better person. Nigerian men are not that bad or un-trainable. Put it in your conscious mind that there are some things you wish for in you "dream" and "perfect" man that Nigerian males totally lack. Here are few examples We are not good at public display of emotions and affections; no public kissing, no door opening, and don't expect flowers and other frivolities as gift or surprise. This doesn't mean we aren't romantic, but not in that wise. There is cultural shock no matter how you stay together there are some things that you guys just have to compromise or adapt to. Nigerians men generally do not like women or ladies that are so given to the "American" lifestyle and freedom I mean investing too much on expensive Louis Vuitton, Manolo and stuffs like that. some men won't even bother calling your attention to that, so long you are making a decent money on your own and you are contributing your own quota financially. People say Nigerians are loud speakers they have deep voice and they open all the corner of their mouth when talking, so it is hard to know what the matter is if they are just trying to point a little correction. Coupled with the language barrier and tone we do not know use soft words at times, for example, real Americans and whites rarely shout at their kids even if they do things that are so wrong, they would rather say "honey, that is okay...." "sweetheart, you should have......" Nigerians won't do all these and that is why we suck at customer services and some hospitality duties. Also, learn to talk persuasively and not raise your voice the way Latoya, Sheniqua and Lashonda ( Ya know waaraaa mean?) would raise their voice to protest on anything. I know AA women are trained to be vocal and expressive, you will be amazed at how soft Naija men can be when you talk to their brain in a low-tone and well directed manner. God will help you and bless your union. |
Stop stealing pictures and posting them here. How are we to know you are even related with these people by posting pictures of just random girls. Please post picture of yourself and the supposed beauty queen taken together. @ snthesis carry the picture of the babe commot the stretch marks on her bobby is too obvious. @henryvirus your supposed chic has a simple African beauty which I like, but why the girl dey drink chivita with glass cup lying laterally on the table. |
At least he sings better than Tonto dickhay. And the kirikata kirikata dancing step no bad at all easier than alingo and azonto. |
Ogbeni handsome post your picture and let's see. Like someone said earlier beauty or handsomeness is very subjective our definition of beauty has diverse meanings. Other guys claiming handsome are just pure narcissists; you are just average. We,handsome guys didn't even post theories. |
I knew Banky junior would be the HEAD boy, even before checking the badge on his chest. Banky senior your head is there. I gat love for you. |
Whizkid needs to be tutored on acting. |
AugustApplicant: Am so surprise but not disappointed that Nigerians can bring their stupidity any place. @Earthgreeners whats your problem with my posts? If you are mad at God you should die and go see Him, if only hell isn't your destination. Stupid EarthspoilerYou need to tender an unreserved apology to all Nigerians. @earthgreeners not everyone has a sense of humour, even those who have don't get the humour most times. Wish you all the best. |
@amby147 If you can make your biological parent sponsor you it is cool. The best is you being your personal sponsor. The VOs are not usually down with the Cousin's cousin format. Anyone needing a format for letter of intent(or purpose) PM me. |
soft-touch:+ Joblessness rumour spread like wildfire in naija. |
Going by the topic "Marrying Someone You Are Not Crazy About.- Should I Marry Him?" Do you have to be CRAZY about someone before marrying such person? I suggest you check your heart very well there must be something you like about this guy for you to say yes to his proposal and you need to concentrate on his good side and work something out with him. Most problems with people (men and women) is that we have a predefined set of attributes our husband-to-be and wife-to-be should possess (good looking, great height, Godly, financially okay, romantic, GSOH, respectful) and once a condition or attribute is missing then "no crazy in love thing" It is obvious that the OP has set goals of marrying son of a mega oil magnate that will shower her with expensive gifts, trip to classic dinner, cruising on yacht which the poor husband-to-be is not capable of doing. The truth is that the person you will be crazily in love with will be a first class asshol.e. A lady was complaining to me on my BB yesterday that she is tired of relationship that all guys are just bunch of idiots. Looking at this lady she is a person that only wants to date a clean, outgoing guy that has car and guys use this opportunity to use her and drop her azz like it's hot after logging in to her software. My suggestion to the OP is that if your fiance is a good man, can perform(on bed) and is in love with you then concentrate on him and make him a better person, build him that is what love should be about "sacrifice" give, love, care without consciously expecting anything, I bet he will see these and appreciate you more in return and stop looking for a perfectionist and non existent prince charming. I can not marry a perfectionist and a lady I have not worked on. Wait have you guys ever had s.ex yet? sorry to bother you on this. |
What is Alegongo doing on NL's frontpage. What is wrong with the school? The school is okay by Nigerian standard due to poor management and funding. I think I have personally seen worse schools than this, have you ever seen a wide pot hole in a classroom? Have you seen a classroom floor that looks like a field battling with gully erosion. I have been in this school and I can say it is not as worse as the poster painted it. I know a woman who works there and family member who went to the school way back. |
Seriously, @factbox sounds like a bitter person and your NL handle negates your comments here. Please change your user id. There is just no basis for comparism between Nigeria and Canada to match both countries at par. Res Ipsa Locquitor: Facts speak for themselves, the facts are everywhere. One is a developed country and the other is not a developing country but an under-developed country. Most cities in Canada top most livable cities in the world with Toronto in number 8. thestar.com/news/gta/transportation/article/1221075--toronto-ranks-8th-in-world-in-revised-liveability-index A wide margin between the life expectancy rate for Canadians and Nigerians, Canada being among first 12 and Nigeria among last 12 https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2102rank.html I am off to Canada before this month runs out and I do not expect to see a red carpet laid before me so I am not even discouraged by your comments. |
This woman again! Why is she afraid to come back to Nigeria. No place like home they say. |
slamdunk99: @all, I was denied visa today.................NOOOOO WAYYYY!!!.......this house deserves some good news, am still dancing alanta and azonto as I type......GOD has been so good........got my TTTRRRVVV today.......HE will complete what HE has started in our lives, despite all the bumps with fee payment...........stay tuned for documents as usualI told ya. Congrat ore, see you there! But your first line got me *lol* |
@slamdunk I think it is positive, relax your mind. Nigerian banks can really be a pain in d neck, the maximum transferable amount without interrogation should be 10,000USD and if the money to be wired exceeds this you are required to fill some forms and other blabla to ensure the money is not for a dirty transaction. You could have walked into another bank or use a third party payment. |
funmido: Hello house!Definitely @Codebrain I love your spirit, tomorrow will be fine as long as you are not a man with one plan. @lillawow I didn't see any message. |
lufondu: @lyfe Congratulations! @all if some1 has an admission for a master's, apply for and got trv, on getting to Canada the fella gets a PhD offer from another University mayb 2-3 months within his/her program, can the fella switch immediately or does the fella need to inform immigration? @CodeBrain congratulations, which ever way u re on the right track. You don't need to contact any immigration office as long as the programme you intend to change to is a post-secondary school program, you can cross from college to university without seeking permission note that bachelor's degree, masters and Phd (permanent head damage) are programs run by the universities. The only thing you need to worry about is finding a way to extend your study permit, as there will be a lag in time changing from one program to another. |
@lillaowow Since your parents are working in Canada, let them send a copy of their passport data page indicating their status in Canada either as temporary worker, permanent rez or citizen They should also send you copies of their payslips for 3months. Pictures you took together in Nigeria and the picture of your parents in Canada. Are they your sponsor? They should write a letter to that effect that they will cater for you accommodation, feeding and others. On study permit questionnaire PM @boxbonnie Just a program not really related to my BSC. Prog. I'm heading to a college in Toronto (Humber) @earthgreener Finished from UNAAB 2008 (Environmental Management and Toxicology) @Rockafella, Don't hyper track oooo, don't bring their server down. It is well. |
@All Thank you God bless you. Your own good news shall be heard. mercylicious: I pray its good news.It does not mean you can't touch your money just make sure you have good balance. |
This guy would be lost in the crowd if he was in Nigeria. I think the educational system in the US brings out the best in you. Through out my final year as an undergraduate I used candle and light illuminating from my mobile phone to read, the incessant strikes and bad lecturers; that would tell you that you would fail his course at the beginning of his class and only bright student would manage to have C. It's no fun at all schooling in Nigeria. My only concern for the dude is the Phi Beta group he joined has some elements of occultism. |
Last week was the longest week of my life, I was beginning to jolt when I didn't hear from them, 37 days after medicals. I got my TRV yesterday. Thanks to all, I can not thank you all; from the creator of NL to the starter of this thread, my friends on here and the invisible spectators(yes you), not forgetting the trolls and the spammers. God bless you all. Those who are still expecting to hear from CDHC, please keep your hopes alive and don't give up. I know the wait can really be heart wrecking but you still gonna smile no matter the outcome. |
ferhyntorlah: Hi all. Pls I nid ur opinion on affidavit of support. Will the document be drafted at the High court or can one go with a printed one just to have it notorised at the court(ie signature of notoriser and stamp)? How much does it cost? Thanks.Fehin, go to any magistrate or federal high court the later is better, any typist you see should help you draft a good affidavit of support. The content should contain these: The name of sponsor(s) Address or contact of sponsor(s) The beneficiary(your name) Purpose (To study Msc. Nairaland Technology in Naira Province Canada) Source of income of your sponsor. Then the solemn declaration bla bla will follow, after which the jugde or commissioner of oath will stamp on it making it a legal document. This should cost you less than 2K. |
^^^ Thanks for the info, I am sure the OP will find it useful. |
Lolz at the post. I have never pictured myself doing such public proposal (I'm a local boy abi?), If I ever had the courage to do such and gets turned down, I would just prefer the ground to undulate and swallow me right there. Guys use your head ooooo. |
