Atleast dey finally admit d president is not a man to tolerate dissent and opposition needed to build a vibrant democracy.

Oh boy no other Naija leader has endured more criticism and insult from born-2-rule bigots like GEJ has endured. GEJ has to be tough because Naija respect callous people.

The man is not more incompetent than other leaders before him.

Like all the other leaders before him, I wouldn't make GEJ my local govt chairman. But since in Naija we're not ready yet to move forward let's do it turn by turn with nicompoops from different zones and tribes. cheesy
Oyel money noni.

Bear with GEJ till 2019 by which time it should be a wiseman/woman from the East's turn.

1n 38 years of Northern rule what tangible positive development/difference did they make?

All this gragra forming a party within a party hoping to get their filthy hands on more oil money is useless.

What we should be doing now is preparing ourselves for a peaceful or bloody break up of the country come 2015.

tatosh: Bunch of demons running up and down not for love of country but totally for love of self, they've only just started. They're on the road to extinction

To think that none of the actions of these PDP members from both factions is in the interest of Nigeria but solely for selfish reasons is enough for any right thinking person not to ever reckon with PDP. But alas!, some of u you will still go and vote for Jonathan but not PDP.
For those of us whom God has blessed with understanding; SOLUTION: Let's give APC a chance. Its a party that evidently puts Nigeria first before their own interests
.

But APC now has questionable characters. I think ACN made a mistake merging with all those other questionable ethnic bigots. They want to ride on the back of ACN governors' performance/fame to get into power. They have no intention of letting BRF get the presidential ticket in 2015, what would be ideal scenario in saner climes.

ACN should have been more patient, garner even more credibility as a can-do party (e.g. get Muiz Banire to continue when BRF leaves in 2015), get BRJ a senatorial seat in 2015, ensure all their governors, house reps and senators perform. By 2019 BRF would be ready to challenge for the presidency, he would still be only about 57 years old.

PoliticsRe: PDP Splits: Seven Governors, Oyinlola, Atiku Members Of New Faction by MacLovington(m):
So as their Boko Haram is failing to set the country ablaze as they wanted, they are now trying to destabilise the country by any means. Let them go and form Boko Republic and make Yerima their Child Bride Minister. Amaechi can go with them, he can even take his stolen money along.

Oh oil will not let them go, lazy idiots.

GEJ is by no means the best Nigeria can produce. In fact GEJ, OBJ, Yar'Adua not to mention the military buffoons we've had the great misfortune to have as leaders would not be trusted with Local govt chairmanship in saner climes.

But proper leaders like Awo, Zik, Ige, Ekueme, Falae, Amino Kano, Rimi and so on were never allowed to rule and anybody if from a majority tribe (except SE) was deemed good enough, so why is GEJ not good enough in a country that promotes mediocrity? It can only be because he's from SS and is affiliated to SE.
PoliticsRe: PDP Splits: Seven Governors, Oyinlola, Atiku Members Of New Faction by MacLovington(m): 12:07am On Sep 01, 2013
aletheia: Politics, it is said, makes strange bedfellows, but even the strangeness of the principals in this PDP 'faction' must give one pause. Consider the seven governors involved:

Sokoto - NW,
Kano - NW,
Rivers - SS,
Adamawa - NE,
Niger - NC,
Jigawa - NW,
Kwara - NC

Rotimi Amaechi sticks out like a sore thumb...and so the question must be asked: what is he doing among such strange bed-fellows. My interactions with people from Rivers state lead me to believe that public opinion in his home state is not in support of his moves. Amaechi is an intelligent fellow who no doubt has his finger on his people's pulse. Why would he want to alienate them and isolate himself unless of course there is another plot at play?

Here is my thesis:

1. I doubt if the governors would have been bold enough to break away in such spectacular fashion without believing that Amaechi belonged to their camp, because they would probably reason that having Amaechi on their side would weaken the President's support base and thereby strengthen their faction.

2. While they might try to spin it as a bold move on their part; the reality is that they have been isolated and forced out of the PDP fold proper.

3. I believe Rotimi Amaechi is in cahoots with the President and has acted as the "Judas goat" to force the enemies and traitors within to reveal themselves publicly and leave the party.

4. In the next few weeks, we should expect a spectacular reconciliation between the President & Rotimi Amaechi which will leave these governors and Atiku hanging high and dry. I expect Atiku should have learned something from how his protege Soludo was manipulated into losing the gubernatorial nomination.

We will see how events play out. But we should always remember that in the shadowy world of politics, nothing is ever as it seems and we should stop taking things at face value.
While Amaechi may consider himself smart, smarter Southerners like Zik, Okotie-Eboh, Abiola and many others have been manipulated by the politically savvy Northerners (who until recently were perceived as backward) against southern interests.
They only want to use Amaechi as a tool against GEJ. That Amaechi would readily play the Judas's role is puzzling. He's seriously negating SS/SE interests because an Ikwerre (Igbo when convenient) cosying up to those manipulative Northerners is not good for Igbo 2019 presidential ambitions.
PoliticsRe: PDP Splits: Seven Governors, Oyinlola, Atiku Members Of New Faction by MacLovington(m): 11:50pm On Aug 31, 2013
Sincere 9gerian: Fear fear governors. I thought they would have been bold enough to walk out of the party and join APC or form another party. But in the end, fear no gree dem. What they've simply done is just like a lady or child crying just to be noticed. It doesn't make any sense.

Meanwhile, I hate to say this but it is clear that all these are happening simply because GEJ, the leader of PDP, is from minority tribe. Sometimes, I wonder what would have happened to GEJ by now if not that atleast the Igbos have stood by him. This president has not committed any sin, except his tribe. If anything, atleast, this is the first time we'r having purposeful leadership in this country. While OBJ ran the opposition out of business and Yar Adua rigged the only major election (Ekiti re-run) he supervised in favour of PDP, GEJ has allowed free and fair elections, thereby increasing the political control of the opposition, in terms number of states and legislative seats between 2010 and now. But what does GEJ get in return, its attacks, attacks and more attacks. Very very unfortunate indeed.
You know all those born to rule people cannot control themselves. After some 49 years rule by those who think they own the country, see where we're today. They want to continue for another 49 years awarding oil blocks to themselve and looting "our commonwealth" derived from the backyard of the " fishermen second class citizens". They should please do us a favour and split the country (just spliting PDP is not enough) so that minorities can have their own country where they will not be second class citizens.
FamilyRe: Is Asking How Someone Died? Rude? by MacLovington(m): 4:26pm On Aug 31, 2013
I don't think it's rude. It can also be interpreted as lack on concern/care if you don't.

Bereavement is always difficult and painful but be aware that the amount of social support a bereaved person needs may be higher if the death was sudden or due to a violent cause than a chronic illness that lasted 7 years and expected to end thus.

So knowing the cause might position you to be of more help.

He was not happy but he later said most people would have said they were on their way.

With a lot of graduates roaming the streets of nigeria I fear the worse..

On a second thought if my wife delivers a baby boy,he must start football training the next day undecided
.

Even in England, of all the kids deemed good enough to be in EPL footbal club academies, well over 95% don't get offered professional contract when they turn 18. They are booted out. And most have no plan B. The odds are very poor.

In Naija, I know a couple of good players who barely finished secondary school and their blossoming careers ended with nasty injuries. One was seen everyday playing table teniss in front of their house. No profession. Sad case. The other managed to travel abroad but not to play football.

If a child turns out to be exceptionally good at football, yes. Otherwise education.

Please don't waste your time. It's obvious she has no idea what customer service is. Imagine somebody in Canada who wants to send a relative/friend from Emure in Ekiti, he cannot even see a picture of a supposedly good Estate. See Sherryview, Platinum, Golden Gate Estate people and their agents etc gladly show off their estates all over Nairaland.

If people don't succeed in their endeavours, it is hardly the witch in the village responsible, much of it is due to personal attitude, pride and inability to learn.

FoodRe: Why Are Our Markets Always Dirty? by MacLovington(m): 9:34am On Aug 21, 2013
pDude: Because Africans and Africa come from a culture that embraces dirt and filth.

Have you seen how a pit toilet is kept clean but a WC toilet will always be covered with piss and shyt?

Have you noticed that however the government tries to clean and refurbish any market, it eventually turns out filthy and disorganized as it formerly was?

Have you noticed that people would rather piss and shyt in the bush or do shotput (ladies) than find a toilet to relieve themselves?

Have you noticed that people would rather brush their teeth outside than use the sinks back in school or NYSC?

Yes, filth goes with Africa.
This is generalisation. 70% of Nigerians live in rural areas. In villages, premises have to be thoroughly swept, fire place swept and rubbed with watery clay/mud and left to dry n shiny before breakfast can be made. In cities the municipal services where they exist cannot cope with huge waste generated, hence flies etc. Waste disposal around city markets is poor, again failure of municipal/council people.

My grandma of blessed memory was one of the neatest people you will ever see. She was in the village and her house was always shiny, even when she was already 100 years old. So are many villagers, never mind the soiled farm wear you may see some in.

People drop litter anyhow in London, Paris etc too despite dustbins everywhere. Their waste disposal services are just good.

If I was in Naija and I if was a girl I would definitely be heading your way.
Btw why are there no boys learning at your school?

In Paris and Milan lots of designers are men. London and New York too.

Do you have any branch in Benin or nearby cities? My niece would be interested.

For someone who is a complete beginner, how long will it take to become competent, individual talent and seriousness aside? And for someone who already learnt how to sew traditional clothes, how much time is needed?
