Culture › Re: Mrs Dike An Igbo Citizen To Become The First Female OBA In Yoruba by macof(m): 11:19pm On Jan 04, 2014
She's only there for the moment. And even if she isn't her kids can never be made Oba in Akure or anywhere else.
Paternal lineage is considered not maternal.

I suspect the exiled oba would return, if he presents a good case.

The problem is that there's rivalry in the two royal clans and Adesida's daughter seems fair enough as a regent- but make them do comot the woman undecided

POPE II: Answer my question, what has your if ever done for Yoruba and non Yoruba in this Nigeria? If not for killing people for their organs . Tua

Same goes to you pagan , how is your paganism relevant in today's world?

There are Catholic architect jor , ancient Egypt is ancient Egypt, they had their religion
When have you heard pagans killing people for organs? Which organs sef undecided
Paganism is relevant because it is tribal and ethnic identity, it is also liable to improve and evolve but it would still be indigenous, Paganism is the natural and default way of a group of people comprises the culture, traditions, spirituality and language all indigenous not 'copy from oyinbo and dump your own'

All Pagan Spiritualities have a creation story embed in symbolic representation which are labeled as Myths. The Very First I was exposed to was the Greek, Let's take a look at Greek Stories

The Great Womb of creation Gaia is believed to be the source of everything, Gaia split and formed Uranus, This began a new phase as Uranus represent the sky and Gaia the earth.
Gaia gave birth to a league of primordials called Titans- Oceanus, Hyperion, Themis, Crius, Phoebe, Rhea, Cronus etc.
Cronus and Rhea were the figure heads of the Titans and Cronus led the Titans against Uranus who lost and was banished but before he left he told Cronus that his children would do same to him. Rhea then began to give birth and Cronus swallowed all the babies except for Zeus, Rhea saved Zeus by giving Cronus stone which he swallowed instead. Zeus was Taken care of by Gaia who hid in space where Cronus couldn't find them.
Zeus left from Gaia's care and went to confront his father, he cut the Stomach of Cronus thereby releasing his siblings- Hera, Poseidon(God of water bodies), Hades(life and death), Demeter(Goddess of soil and Agriculture) and Hestia(Goddess of animal and human fertility). A war broke out in Heaven known as 'War of the Titans' and Zeus was victorious and became king of the Gods (it is believed by Researchers that this shift of Power from The Titans to the Olympians was gotten from the eastern Scandinavians). Zeus is father of Ares(God of War), Hephestus(God of Iron), Aphrodite(Goddess of Love), Athena(Goddess of Wisdom and Judgment) Hermes(Messenger of the Gods), Apollo(Sun God), Artemis(Moon God) etc.

The Titans were worshipped as the Gods at an early time in history. And the early Greek pantheon consisted of
Oceanus and Thetis as parents of Metis.
Hyperion and Theia as parents of Eos(Dawn),Helios(Sun) and Selene(Moon).
Coeus and Phoebe as parents of Leto(Stars) and Asteria(Falling Stars).
Iepatus as parent of Atlas(The one who serves as the Earth's foothold, Patron of Travelers), Prometheus(The bringer of Fire and intelligence to man), Epimetheus(use of intelligence) and Menoetheus
Crius fathers Astraeus(astronomy), Pallas and Perses(Destruction)
Themis(Goddess of Justice and Truth).
Mnemosyne(Goddess of Dance and Music).

Here we see basic similarities with any other pagan spirituality- it is simply a sort naturalism and pantheism. Every civilization explains existence and the universe in a way that the locals understood it.

Joshthefirst: this is the definition of being I mean.

Being:

3.
a. A person: "The artist after all is a solitary being" (Virginia Woolf).
b. All the qualities constituting one that exists; the essence.
c. One's basic or essential nature; personality.

Do good to search the dictionary first before demeaning in ignorance.
Josh. A being doesn't have to be living like a beast of organic features

Being refers to anything that is. I like to define it as a 'state of being' grin if you understand wat I mean

Image123: You are always displaying your ignorance of Scriptures, and other matters. Jehovah is Chukwu and Olodumare. Jesus is not His only son. What throne are you talking of? God has numerous children. Ever heard the phrase "children of God"?
Lmao grin Christians always claiming our Great supreme God as their own

Olodumare is not Jehovah...here's some basic difference
Olodumare
1. Has 400 children who are Gods like him but on a lower level than their father in the pantheon

2. doesn't interact directly with humans

3. Doesn't take sacrifice

4. Has 2 other manifestations- Olorun and Olofin

Jehovah/Yahweh
1. Has one Jewish child

2. Can interact directly with humans

3. Takes sacrifice and enjoys burnt offering

4. Has 3 manifestation- himself, his son and his messenger spirit

Now how can they be the same God?

delishpot: The only problem I have with trad religion is the human rituals involved. Keeping a whole set or group of people to serve or sacrifice to juju. Thats all.
True some Pagan rituals deal with human sacrifice but not in this age.
The constitution of most countries prohibits killing humans like that and Pagans are naturally law abiding.
But go to Saudi Arabia and see people, killing for Allah and also all this extremist muslims who take to bombs and guns to convert people, It's a cruel world and instead of running away from your identity, reform it and bring a new understanding.

In a state in the USA they prohibited animal sacrifice which our Yoruba brothers stopped in that state.

In those days when the whole world was pagan, Human sacrifice existed in major places, Criminals and those captured from war were used, never have innocent people be forced to offer their lifes.
There's always a fair check on the person's status before the sacrifice is done
Sometimes some give their life for their community in times of danger and urgent need for rituals and sacrifice.

There are certain laws in different traditions, And breaking that law results in death penalty. The death is always done in sacrifice, because it's the belief that the blood shouldn't just go to waste.
