Pastor Olu T: Smile, my level of education is enough for me to understand the difference from DEFINITION and EMINENCE and IMPORTANCE. So which do u truly want, as definition or eminence and importance?
I asked u to define wat God is...u couldn't.

Ok I broke down the question to "describe his eminence and importance"

Wat do u think definition means?.undecided

rationalmind: Good for you.

And I never told you I don't accept oral traditions to some extent. I only said I don't consider it reliable.

Let's look at this scenario, tradition tells us that lisabi delivered the people of egbaland from the oppressions from the old oyo empire. This is sensible.

Now, look at this one. Same tradition tells us lisabi didn't die but varnished into the earth in a forest. Is this sensible?

That is where I start having problems with oral traditions and its because of such reasons I can't trust it 100%
In the Bible. It was written Elijah entered heaven with a Chariot of fire horses.

It is also written that Jesus born of a virgin

Same Jesus died, resurrected and elevated gradually until he reached the sky and disappeared.

Now do you believe this because it was written and not passed through generations Orally?

Pastor Olu T: Smile, taking me serious? Its not about u taking me serious or not, the issue is I dont believe the way u believe so that alone is already an issue for u (though I will still want to continue reasoning with u, that is if u care?).

Coming to the issue of defining God, we cant define God bt can only understand Him as He reveals Himself to us as we continue in our relationship with Him. God is bigger than what u or I can ever grasp, if we place a definition on God then we tend to limit Him n put Him in a box. Then anything that dont fit into our concept of God we discard, this is the reason many dont believe in the supernatural 'cos their little mind cant comprehend all that. God is God if we can define Him, then He ceases to be. The problem with man from the onset is we wanting to bring God to our level (physical, carnal, sensual etc) of reasoning so we can comprehend Him at least, bt it doesnt work like that for we will rather move up to His level (spiritual), then we can at least grasp a bit of Him on this side of eternity n fully on the side of eternity.

WE CAN ONLY KNOW HIM AS WE CHOOSE TO BY MOVING CLOSER TO HIM THROUGH JESUS
Then you don't know God or god
If you can't give ur description of God's eminence and importance. If you don't know anything about God you can't know how to reach him

rationalmind: Na you know brother. All these are your SUBJECTIVE OPINIONS.

So, if I don't accept oral tradition as reliable, its the same as I don't know or haven't heard those oral traditions.
Do u believe them is the issue.

About 300yrs ago, No one had a pen and paper in yorubaland, it wasn't until the Arabs came that Oyo knew how important writing was.

calculation of items in farm stores and other things were all done without paper
History classes were done Oral by the elder to the little children.
The Yoruba people(at least our ancients) have this attitude of extreme love for their culture and as the saying goes "Odo to gbagbe Orisun re a gbe"
This was the motto of Yoruba people that always kept it necessary to know their origin.

Another one was "a man who doesn't know where he is coming from can never know where he is going to"

Oral history I trust

rationalmind: Can't you comprehend simple statements?

Anybody can come up with any interpretation. Is that too difficult for your brain to grasp?

Who cares whether christians agree with my interpretation, who do you think agrees with your twisting of a stupid story to mean the big bang.

To even show your silliness. The bible story is incomplete, its your obatala fable that is complete. What a doofus.

Abeg, shift
As I said before ur mentality is Christianised and u are not a true atheist because u still use Christianity to view every form of religion or spirituality.

Because ur brain has been so deep in believing skydaddy it's difficult for u to accept that skydaddy doesn't really exist in spirituality but just SYMBOLIC REPRESENTATION

It's like u trying to give ur own interpretation of wat u know nothing about.

Christianity u know, now give interpretation if that could ever be possible for a Christianised mentality who can't see anything other than SKYDADDY SITTING ON A THRONE

That's wat is affecting u atheist on NL, you truly haven't grown in consciousness, you only choose to disbelieve for pride and rebellion sake for somethings you find illogical and lame.
Now am explaining this seemingly illogical thing to show u wat My ancestors meant when they created Skydaddy personification.

You just can't except that ancient men living in mud houses and caves were smart folks who had crack the universe open and found it's mysteries.
It's difficult for u to accept that philosophy didn't start with modern science.

You are an Egba do u know ur history? off course not, how would you when you think those cave men living under Olumo rock couldn't be trusted with oral history.

The fact is that you have self hate within you, and pride takes it to a whole new level.

I am waiting for anybody with sound knowledge of Yoruba paganism to prove me wrong

This guy is insane, how can Abraham go on pilgrimage to a God he left behind for Yahweh? David never even knew Allah, Yahweh was his God.

nnofaith: That is the problem i have with you, you cant be an atheist and be spiritual i repeat you cant be an atheist and be spiritual, being spiritual means believing and recognizing religious spirits. spirituality does not exist on its own its tied with religion. its like an atheist saying he believes in the xtian holy spirit or islamic jinns. as an atheist you can embrace the philosophy part of any religion. for instance i have embraced the ifa philosophy myself. Even when back then when i was a moslem i acknowledged and respected the philosophy behind ifa, now that i am atheist i have embraced it completely. The spiritual side of ifa is a no go area because then i will have to believe in the orisas. yoruba myths like every other is comprised of the literal and metaphorical element, what you are doing is that you are trying to re-write everything to fit into science, and that i believe, is fraudulent.

Yes science stated that- that's how flawed it can be, so by trying to say wat science hasn't proven is Bs means that years ago when Heart was established as the centre of emotions, anybody running around claiming Brain was just saying Bs
Christianity Etc › Re: Sango And Electrical Energy.A Debate Btw Folykaze,Amanfrommars,Macof And Plaeton by macof(m): 12:56am On Dec 16, 2013
Mr Troll: who asks for the sacrifices to be made?
The priest, who knows the mysteries behind these Energies and how they can be manipulated to Human benefit.

Nourishing an Energy with blood-which has the Highest level of energy in one physical entity.
This Nourishing is to create channels between these energies that could start up convertion to something else or just keep a certain Element in balance with it's atomic structure.

For instance
Sacrifice to Orisha oke prevents landslides, Avalanche and other disasters caused by Mountains

Orisha Olokun prevents floods and raise in sea level over the inhabited land.

You every wonder why natural disasters don't happen around places practicing pure spirituality?

@bold, a basic knowledge in human physiology will make you know that such feats are physically impossible. that is why we don't need to run to every magic demonstration in other to debunk them.
I couple of years ago human physiology stated emotions were stored in the heart now we all believe it's the brain.

people don't breathe fire. it is impossible. so even if the most respected ifa adherent with the best memory says it, I will not believe it. simple and short.

Christianity Etc › Re: Jesus Was From Nigeria: BBC by macof(m): 11:16pm On Dec 15, 2013
FOWOSIRE: I am not very good with biblical facts and history but come to think of it some ends might be opened in what we know. Jesus was the adopted son of Joseph who was from Judah. Did anyone give a detailed account of Mary's origin. And remembering Jesus was not Joseph's biological son. if his papers were faulty chances are he might not be elected mayor in Judah if miracles were not involved and Mary in parenthood would have contributed a great deal of DNA to his genetic appearance so chances are he must have adopted most of her in colour and other features since she was the dominant physical feature in his parenthood so chances are, if Mary were to be fully accounted for, some more light will be shed in answering the physical possibilties of Jesus. I just hope she is Nigerian so as to confirm my suspicions. More like hope sha. grin

Christianity Etc › Re: Sango And Electrical Energy.A Debate Btw Folykaze,Amanfrommars,Macof And Plaeton by macof(m): 10:23pm On Dec 15, 2013
Mr Troll: I find all this interesting, though I don't believe all of it. what I usually have against all this is when pagans or anybody for that matter start making claims of fantastic 'supernatural' manifestations by one babalawo or pastor.

you say Sango is not actually a being, so why do people worship it/him/she? why make incantations to invoke its supposed powers? why make sacrifices to a metaphor or an abstract concept?

stories of people breathing fire? really? spitting thunder? Nigger please!
It's not about u believing the story one group of people give. Everyone has something to say about creation and existence. I believe the big bang is still incomplete but it's the most complete and explanatory story of creation that I know, so I see it's sense and weigh it with other stories.

You know why and how u should even see that there's more to myths than wat u see in the surface
1. A man cannot create earth when men weren't suppose to be around
2. Chicken or pigeon can't be in existence when the earth wasn't even finished
3. Dust....howhuh when dry land wasn't formed yet

Thinking deep will make one realize it's just symbolic representation

I explained that These are conscious Energies that sustain the universe and can be manipulated to fit into human use for good or bad that's why must of this knowledge to tap into these energies are hidden and secret only open to certain cults which knowledge of this practices have gone from one generation.

It's simply manipulation and use of potential energy.

In the olden days if some had the knowledge of how electricity works, they would call it gift from the God of lightening.

Breathing out fire is fuvkin basic level jazz....there are leaves u eat and with certain incantations smoke starts coming out of ur mouth. people who eat fire and spit it out is all about tapping that energy.
