BusinessRe: Insult: MTN Locates West African Headquarters In Ghana by maddock(m): 2:23pm On Jan 13, 2010
Kob:
@Londoner

I spend as much time on Ghanaweb and this forum, and its interesting sentiments all over. I know what the anti Naija feelings are like and how high tensions can be. To the challenges Naija faces I understand, and know this is herculean. But Nigeria keeps drifting back and forth since the Shehu Shagari days. Comparatively, Ghana had the same problems but once we came out military rule we vowed not to go back. Ghana has a young democracy but we are fighting tooth and nail to make this work. Its not easy, far from perfect, but one thing we all understand is trying to keep people accountable. All political parties agree on that. We know it will take a long time to achieve but on thing is for sure we are tweaking as we go along. Now nobody prefers a military dictator to right any politicians wrong. We vote them out! Politicians are being kept on their toes daily.

Nigeria's progress is now being hampered by avoidable problems and that is the cause for worry. Little things that make a big difference. Look at the leadership vacuum, what's the Vice president for? back in the coup days, this was fertile ground for a military intervention in any African country- God forbid!
I don't think Ghanaians want Nigeria to fail. We supported you all along, in athletics, football in your glory days etc. but its sad Nigeria is just sinking, hence my call for you to sort the mess out internally not blame MTN.
On another note, I have also experienced the effects of tribalism and how this affected Ghana, because I am from a minority in Ghana so fully understand that it is a problem for Nigeria, however how long will this be an excuse? The world is moving and not waiting on Africa's most important country to fix its problems. You need to act quick and immediate otherwise the domino effect continues, sort political problems, then the investor confidence rises. Be ready to learn from Ghana as we also learn from you, so long guys!
Nicely and artistically crafted

@ londoner
Am not saying anybody should force MTN to stay in Nigeria against their wish, but what they are getting should be the detemining factor.Going to Ghana at this stage would definitely not have been a good strategy especially with the not too pleasant relationship in recent times between the two countries . For those of us that works in corporate organisation HQ is where the action is, whether we like it or not decisions and policies that will emanate from Ghana would definitely not favour Nigeria and Nigerians.
BusinessRe: Insult: MTN Locates West African Headquarters In Ghana by maddock(m): 1:14pm On Jan 13, 2010
@ kob while i want to agree with on most of the issues raised, but the direction of your tone is not all that cool. Quite agree with Nigeria viz Nigerians has a lot of sorting out to do but tagging us as the only nation in Africa involved in terrorism is not entirely a nice comment (though am not lloking for niceties from you). instead of us Nigerian whinning over MTN doin this or that, all MTN subscribers simply dump your lines and see if MTN would not race back to Nigeria.

EducationRe: Lagos Teachers can't speak English language by maddock(m): 5:20am On Dec 18, 2009
Its not just lagos state alone, but all part of the country. Go to the east and also the north the story is the same. Expecially in the rural areas, you find stuff like this in mostly goverment owned schools. No private school would emply you if you cant speak english, cos how are going to pass through the interview stages in the first place.

Cant really stop my fingers from using the keyboards, i wonder what people think Nigeria is. there is nothing in the world today that u cant find in Nigeria (except sub stations). I have neighbours that have their dinner in lagos and have their lunch in the very best of hotels in america the next day. Nobody look at them when they pass by.If you want to come to Nigeria you are very free to,the only reason you can draw unnecessary attention to yourself if you are like a 30yr old man wearing your jeans below your +++ and have all your long chains on your neck trying to yo men loudly anywhere you go. Do You think there will be red carpet waiting for you on every street in lagos simply because you came from abroad, them maybe send one of your relative to vist the international airports either in the night or morning to give you a feedback of how busy that place is.
PoliticsRe: BBC Documentary On Rebranding Nigeria by maddock(m): 10:13am On Oct 27, 2009
I am so sick of hearing so many stories about our leaders are this and thats! These leaders where do they emanate from? from amongst us. Case 1 scenario-- Rumours of increase in pump price, reactions from petrol attendants and bus drivers. Closure of the fuel pumps so as to sell double the price to area boys who would inturn sell to the innocent public. Drivers increasing taxi fares by a 100% as a result of just the rumour.I dont want to talk about the traders in the market. These are people at the very lowest level of public service. Just imagine if these people should be at the healms of affairs of the country, what they are going to do.
A total rebranding of the country should be begin from the man in the mirror,YOU. When going to office in the morning is it Yaradua that you see along Wasimi near maryland defeacating in the full view of the public, or is it Ibori that you see that throws satchet water nylon from moving buses. My neighbours has kids schooling in the United Kingdom, but nobody complains so why complain when those kids are Dora's own.A large percentage of Nigerians are yaradua, ibori, igbenidion ,bode george etc, its just that not every body has that opportunity to really occupy their positions.
Have you ever wondered why we keep having one bad leaders after another in each successive regimes, cos the mindset of all Nigerias whether home or abroad are almost the same. So before you think you are very intelligent to start talking intelligently about the problems of Nigeria and start pointing accusing fingers at the so called LEADERS,do a thorough soul searching of yourself.
PoliticsRe: Bode George Is Sentenced To 2 Years! Not Enough! by maddock(m): 9:46am On Oct 27, 2009
Although 2years for 84 billion naira is good enough but at least God for this conviction. Its just a matter of time, i still believe this sleeping giant called Nigeria would soon be roused out of this long sleep. All you looters and destroyers of this country you better WATCH OUT.

Comon Guys, how can we all give up on our dear country. We are young and energetic and the future of this great nation to a large extent depends on us all. Its so so sad that we are all of the opinion that nothing good can come out of this nation. But lets ask ourselves what have we as individuals done to better the state of the nation.
Somebody said something that since the first republic we always been having bad leaders but where did these bad leaders come from? from amongst us and not from cameroon or togo. So until the average Nigeria change his mindset about this country, things will continue to remain the way it is.And this include YOU, YES YOU.

You see how jobless some folks could be, i wonder which age you belong to. The world is changing and man is trying to find a cure for cancer, bird flu,hiv etc and you are here disturbing your self about someone that has a wife and grown up kids. Maybe Pastor Chris should forward his itinerary to you so that you be abreast of when he is visiting his family. Anuofia.
I have white folks in my company who has been in Nigeria for over a year without their family and i dont see how is that a big deal. Idleness is really something o.

This is the result of global meltdown that the CBN governor says cant affect our economy.
in my company, we downsized too.
I think we should be careful in whatever we post here, i really do not understand why you decided to single out Intercontinental bank as a case study. Intercontinental Bank is growing stronger by the day and i really do not think any amount of PHD syndrone can bring them down. Just came out from an IB and look at the banking hall,it is as if its a market place with customers everywhere. Definitely all this rumours about its liquidity are just unfounded, i am yet to see anybody complaining that the bank is unable to perform its obligation to its customers.

Keep dreaming .
What do you mean by that? Nigeria alone supplies 8% of americas oil while Angola and Algeria share the balance 9%. So whether you like it or not, whether you are dreaming or awake Nigeria cant be ignored by america. According to Carson (that is if you know who he is) 50% of oil from africa to america comes from nigeria and also a big time supplier of LNG imports into america. If Obama has not visited Angola or Algeria ,while lose sleep because he went to Ghana. Since Obama resumed like the last poster said, has the life of the common man changed in America? so make we leave matter for mathias.
Its all politics, Obama will come to Nigeria when he is ready and we will welcome him when we are ready too.
PoliticsRe: Double Snubbed: Obama Hosts First African President - W/out Lobbying And Begging by maddock(m): 9:42am On May 26, 2009
Whats the hues and cries about Obama visiting ghana first and inviting tanzania to the white house? How is Obama visit to nigeria going to alter the cost of garri to the common man on the street. Its all political stuff, USA anyday, anytime will place Nigeria on a very high pedestal than ghana or tanzania, cos they are gaining a whole from nigeria than from these country.
A lot of times we like looking for trouble when there is actually none, why would anybody assume that US is snubbin Nigeria and even take it further by throwing that question at Clinton.
If not for the bad leaders we have, any countries ignoring Nigeria is doing this at its own detriment. Nigeria as a country has gotten to a level that it cant be ignored by anybody on planet earth and am not saying this cos am patriotic.

Kunle you don go back to your old way of reasoning again, the other time i was commending you o. Let me take up on some of your points below, just for arguments sake.

KunleOshob:
Here are a few scriptures to buttress my point:

1 Timothy 6:5:
5 These people always cause trouble. Their minds are corrupt, and they have turned their backs on the truth. To them, a show of godliness is just a way to become wealthy.
[/b]
You failed to include verse 3 and 4 before jumping to 5
6:3 whosoever teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the true word of our Lord Jesus Christ and with the teaching of our religion
6:4 Is swollen with pride and knows nothing. He has an unhealthy desire to argue and quarrel about words, and this brings on jealousy, disputes, insults, evil suspicions
6:5 and constant arguments from people whose minds do not function and who no longer have the truth. GNB

I really do not see how all these describe Oyedepo.

KunleOshob:
1 Peter 5:2-3:
2 Care for the flock that God has entrusted to you. Watch over it willingly, not grudgingly—not for what you will get out of it, but because you are eager to serve God. 3 Don’t lord it over the people assigned to your care, but lead them by your own good example.
[/b]
Dont tell me as large at his congregation he is lording over them and they are still following him? In winners today there are men and women of repute who are captains of very large industries and corporation, dont tell me you are more smarter than them. No disrespected intended.
Take a close look at 2nd Chronicles 20:20

Put your Trust in the lord your God, you will stand firm. Believe what his prophet tells you and you will succeed

U're a slowpoke, you started going there september and you're not a regular member.i've been going there for over ten years and even attended his school,so dnt talk to me about hearsay coz i've seen it myself.oyedepo doesn't need anyone's money abi?tell church members to stop giving thites, offerings and sowing seeds in the pastor's life and he'll die of hunger in no time
Are you for real, just listen to yourself. Then you are the biggest slowpoke on earth to reason like that. You have been going there for ten years yet you have gained nothing, abi?. This is how some people come here to decive others. Why would one be going somewhere for ten years if he is not gaining anything there, then something must really be wrong with that person. If you have started your own church and smart like them you would have been like them too. Try it and see if its that easy.
We should always think before we air our opinions here.

bawomolo:
Why doesn't God bless the parishioners financially like it blessed Bishop Oyedepo?
Why not do a simple study on that and publish your findings here for all to read.

Using the seed principle as a simple illustration if you eat all the yam seedlings you are supposed to plant what is going to happen to you during the period of harvest? At times i laugh at the gullibility of a lota folks here, comparing men of God to business men or captain of industries. it is very easy to lead a small company of ten people than a big church of a 100 people.
Reasons the 10 people are working for the money they see physically at the end of the month while the 100 people only follow you because they believe in a God that dont see. A lot of time we dont know the challenges Pastors go through in controlling their flocks, all we see is the glitz and glamour. A member of a church can just wake up and tell you his pastor am not coming to church, but how many times do we hear an employee getting up especially in Nigeria to tell his employer i dont want to work again.

Oyedepo as a man is a very intelligent in his own right and has the tendency to be even richer than Dangote had he not harken to the calling of God, so also other Pastors. We should respect them for who they are, pastor or no pastor. QED
Christianity EtcRe: No Respect For Blood Of Jesus In Nigeria by maddock(m): 9:37am On May 19, 2009
Pleading the blood of Jesus can be likened to the saying that Revelation is progressive, it is the same thing as the use of annointing oil and annointing water. But if you are one grounded and solidified by the word of God you definitely know that you are covered and protected by God in your going out and in your coming in. So when stuff happens that takes you by surprise you dont not scream blood of jesus cos you know God is in charge and his angels suurrounding you are always at high alert. But all the same in my own humble opinion its not wrong because it is based on that individual revelation at that point in time.

Someone said sumtin about Jesus and Digisus, its a big pity that the white man came to Afican at the expense of their life to bring us this glorious gospel but the white man (Europe specifically) is now so much in darkness that we need to help them. Thats why you heard all kind of strange and weird stuff coming from them, men getting married to men, father imprisoning his daughter for over a decage having sexually relationship with her, woman priding herself for having the smallest waist hence looking like a caricature etc,
