The real Nash sounds more interesting. Tom Cruise as Nash? That's a joke, right?Mebbe not. Just remembered ze disturbing Born on the Fourth of July. He can act o. Ah well, Spikie. You did say NOT YET bonkers. ![]() Gee whiz, Geekiewhiz! Everyone on your list's already taken. Julia Roberts belongs to Vesc, Denzel belongs to Mohawk, and you can't frigging have Ken Watanabe. No, no, chile, he's too old for you. And that macho, magnetic Asian thing he's got going, Mommie might not like that. There are lots of young bloods in Hollywood. Literally. Like Trudy Youngblood from Apocalypto. Seems like a nice young un. He'll go over big with your friends in preschool. Ken Watanabe ko. ![]() |
Of course you saw Sweeney Todd. Saw one of the Potter movies again just to confirm Oldman was Sirius Black. I think I may have seen Quest, I'm not sure.Is it a weird sort of computer animation, not cartoon? And there's a flying, talking thingie that follows the girl around? And there are witches and stuff? Really surprised you don't like musicals.Maybe if they were rap musicals you'd like em. She hasn't seen Moulin Rouge! Oh!Oh!Oh! |
I couldn't sit through Phanton jare. I preferred the book. Creepy as hell, with lotsa atmosphere. You don't like musicals? Did I hear you right? You don't like Hairspray and West Side Story and Sound of Music and Funny Girl and Singin in the Rin and Top Hat and all the rest? B and the B movie so old I don't remember what the actors looked like. The Prince was hot, you say? Enuff reason for me to go scavenging for the thing. No I haven't seen Quest for Camelot. Three guesses what it's about, tho. ![]() What's it about? |
Haven't seen Thumbelina. Is it good? Loved Beauty and the Beast. The movies. Thought the cartoon was totally cool. But something interrupted, dunno what, and I didn't get back to it. And haven't since. Will finish it one of these days. Darned thing is here somewhere. |
Beauty and the Beast? I don't know what the beast looked like when he was transformed. Never finished it for some reason. Haven't seen Thumbelina. Is it a Disney thingie? |
doyin13: ![]() Worst movies- Stepbrothers, so juvenile you want to kick both stepbrothing idiots where it'll hurt. Jumper- watched it cause I liked Bell in Chumscrubbers. Disappointing. Couldn't finish. HANCOCK! Like I am Legend, started with a lot of promise, but you'll be gritting your teeth halfway into the flick. Wanted ![]() |

Shang is certainly the best-looking cartoon character ever. One of the greatest love story ke? Loved the song Be a Man. Reminds of everything I loved about Disney. |
Too funny for words, this thread. ![]() iice don't stop on my account. |
A piloting thread! Fantastic! Does Nigeria have anything to offer in terms of flight training?I was vaguely aware of an Aviation school in Kaduna, but I never checked. You know pilot training is hideously expensive. It took me eons to save for my P.P.L,but I had the privilege of simulators and Cessnas, Beechcrafts and Pipers. That isn't available in Nigeria. I think the best bet for the aspriring commercial pilot is to check out some airlines , beginning with the small or medium-sized fleets, and see what they have to offer. Some airlines do a work-training thing, where they put you through flight school, if you'll fly for them when you graduate. Durban (South Africa) has some good and relatively inexpensive flight schools too. Some professional pilots organisations offer scholarships to members. Like Women in Aviation. There are dozens of them. You may join as a student and apply for scholarships. They're generally international, so the country you reside in in irrelevant. Great thread. |

You haven't seen Pulp Fiction. Un-frigging-believable ![]() Wasn't Crowe stupendous as Nash?Is the film faithful to the man's story, though? Seems sort of made for TV, so perhaps they've tinkled with the genius's history. Why do all these super-smart people always go bonkers sef? Ooooh, I remember that line. Wasn't Crowe the sweetest? Look at when he draws stars with her finger. But I don't know if the film deserved the Best Picture Oscar that year. |
I know I liked Nike Oshinowo's fashion mojo in my teens. And even now she's influenced me somewhat. I go for the 'culture-mash' look. I love mixing local fabrics with leather accessories. MrCrackles:. ![]() |
The bizarre thing is, though I'm not an economist, I understand our economy was on the up and up in the sixties and seventies. I saw this documentary on Nigeria in the seventies and couldn't believe it was the same country. Baaaad government. Lack of original thought. America evolved a political and economic system that works for her, as, somewhat, did Britain. But we Nigerians think everthing that can be invented has been invented, all that's left is to copy and paste from Western societies. You go years in a Nigerian university and emerge with a degree but not an education. Nigeria was better-educated,more politically and economically vibrant decades ago, than the present. If that's not horrible I don't know what is. While we're still 'teaching' in schools by having kids memorise and cram a few facts, which they forget as soon as exams are over, China took an inventive approach to education. The country as it is, is hostile environment to even the most-intentioned efforts at reform. That's why our best minds are frustrated out, to service other countries, and who can blame them? |

KarmaMod:How do you know she isn't abnormal with Brad? Does a Jolie change its spots? Saw a photo of Maddox and Mommy, his hair all over the place, a look in his eye like he has a long and illustrous career as an axe-wielding maniac in front of him. But they're all cute, ze little Jolies. |
iice, what is it with you and Billy Bob Thornton? He's a great actor. Lovely in Bandits, and the only one I paid attention to in Monster's Ball. Yeh. But what is it with you and the guy? Watching Scrubs. Funny. Recognised Zach Braff from Garden State, the movie with Natalie Portman. Good movie. Spiked, you just saw a Beautiful Mind. |
Saw your post in the comics thread. Funny. 'Young at heart' seems to be your NL theme song. 30-year-olds are dinosaurs, no? I read comics, play video games, and watch movies. It's shocking, I know. Deal with it,Ves-cie. ![]() |
Why you guys stopped posting these strips I'll never know. Frgging hilarious, really great to relax to. |
I'm not sure there's a precedent; Has the continent ever combined military might to oust an African leader? Even if they could, should they? I've always maintained behavioral psychology should be an integral part of government, especially in our dizzyingly insane neck of the woods.Psychological profiling and aptitude tests for anyone who would run for even the lowest public service, the process incorruptible, test results immediately available to the public. To weed out megalomaniacs, ignorant asses, psychos and complete bastards, of which there appears to be an inexhaustible supply in African government. |
You may add all sorts of things to the pepper sauce, including seafood, if you prefer. Some like it with okro, others without. It's very nutritious food. |
You know acne and pimples are simply spots of infected skin. If you're in the habit of worrying the spotswith your nails, and the infected pus touches a healthy spot, that spot becomes infected as well, and another pimple or acne emerges there. Talk to your doctor because you'll likely need antibiotics to kill the skin infection. After that, clear off the spots on the surface with stuff like clearasil. Clearasil works,I think. Some medicated formulas clear acne scars too. |
In my professional opinion: You're in deep shit. ![]() There's nothing wrong with wanting to reciprocate your partner's generosity to your family with buying gifts for his mum. But the woman seems to have built a business empire around you. And her shamelessness has put you in an awkward postion. DO NOT TELL YOUR BOYFRIEND. You know the dynamics of relationships. You know men and their mothers. If you two were married then I'd say tell him. But 'exposing' his mother like that, showing her up for what she is,I don't know about that,at this point. No one wants to be shamed by his family in front of the one he loves. Your man will put a stop to it,sure, but it'll strain things between you and the woman, and your man might resent you for bringing his mother's disgraceful conduct out into the open, where you can both see it. It's very important that YOU handle this and not your man, especially if your relationship is serious and you might get married. You were nice, and the woman's abused your kindness. Worrying won't help a jot, so quit worrying about it. Distance yourself a little, and don't call her for long intervals. If she has something to say,let her call you. Gradually reduce the recharge cards and gifts you send, until it's zero and you're sending nothing at all. Be unfailingly courteous, but DO NOT apologise for this, or offer any kind of explanation for the dearth of cards and gifts. Apologies and explanations reinforce the unspoken understanding that the gifts are her due. You've made a mistake.Learn from it. Try and see the humour in this. It is a little bit funny. ![]() |
Fellas, where do you get the idea that a man's decisions cant be criticised merely because he heads a large religious organisation? It's our sick, vulgar culture of adulation of Men of God that make the jobs of the genuine ones so much harder. Pastor Adeboye holds an office in a church:he isn't more important than a chorister or usher or the women who sweep the church floor; they merely fulfil different functions in the church. Sure he gets more perks because of his title, but titles aren't important to God. We're the ones who can't seem to get past it. A church owes a duty of love to the community within which it operates; widows, orphans, the poor and the needy. God doesn't hide how he feels about those. You have to wonder if God actually said, " Go forth and build the largest auditorium in the world. You know such distinctions matter to me. They're what I'm all about." Why do Nigerian pastors find it so hard to admit that they're human like the rest of us and not divine? Possibly because they're the object of the reverence and adulation that rightly belong to God. They can't seem to make decisions as human beings. The seem to need 'visions' and 'God told me' to validate anything they want to do.What's wrong with"Church, the present hall is too small for the crowds. I think we need a bigger hall. All in favour say aye"? I'm not saying God doesn't 'talk' church leaders. But you have to wonder if He really tells them to do every single thing they do. Convenient, innit, since the church can't verify? There seems to be a 'bigger, better, more, best' competition amongst the wealthy pentecostal churches. You have to wonder where God ends and delusions of grandeur and ego begins. It's the government's duty to build roads and balance the budget. It's the church's privilege to love. And love isn't what you feel, it's what you do. It's their money, and there's nothing wrong with a big church hall if they have a community service record it can be balanced against.Does the church have a solid record of commitment to helping the poor, orphans, widows and of serving their communities? If so, great. If not,SHAME!SHAME!SHAME! |
Cute little girl. A Jolie grin. American Beauty isn't overrated. It's almost flawless, and Spacey's performance was inspired. |
Man, you can have a wedding in your living room with only four people present. Traditional wedding is a wedding. But for Christians there's a psychological block if they don't have a church to-do and all. |
Got 14.Guilty fun.Who's Maddox? |
bettes:Great choices. Surprised you didn't list American Beauty for Spacey. You don't think it's his best work? |
What's your skin type? You might try Jergens or Avon. |
