You don't sit on Corruption to fight corruption. |
How will the National Airline be financed ![]() |
Great one from tecno. Waiting for it patiently. |
ndidibabe:Same time next year, you will celebrate this man as Nigeria's number one defender of democracy. ![]() |
arsetalks:Truth is, value of the Naira has always been artificial. If the naira was allowed to attain its true market value, the naira will close in at over N300 to the dollar. The naira is tied to only one commodity which is crude oil. When crude oil prices were high, the naira still had to be supported via external reserve by the CBN to maintain macro economic stability. This is what went down during GEJ's administration. We do not have viable alternatives to crude oil as a means of foriegn exchange. When prices of crude oil collapsed late in 2014 and little foriegn currency was coming to the external reserve, the CBN had to devalue the Naira to save the reserve from depletion, otherwise Nigeria will not be able to finance her import bills. This is the problem. We import virtually everything and export nothing except crude. The value of a nation's currency is tied to international trade. The more a nation's exports exceeds import, the value goes up. But when a nation's imports are greater than exports, the value of the currency drops. This is Nigeria's situation at the moment. |
A landmark victory indeed. Congrats to Delta State gov. ![]() |
Federal Character was design to balance federal appointments across all states to prevent domination by one ethnic group against others. If not Nigeria would have been taken over by born to rule elements a long time ago. PMB is at liberty to appoint any individual of his choice, but he is not at liberty to concentrate these appoinments on a particular location or ethnic group, even if they gave him 100% electoral votes. |
PDP are no better but APC is worse. Lets see how corruption will fight corruption. |
arsetalks:Fall in world oil prices is the major cause of Naira's depreciation. |
vedaxcool:As it is right now, Nigeria runs a defective economic structure. How on earth will Nigeria develop when terms like federation account still exist A situation where Nigeria is so eager to develop, yet still sharing revenues to states through federation account is an aberration. No country in the world will develop economically with a mindset of extreme socialism and centralism. Nigeria runs a centralised economic structure and until that is addressed, every policy thrown out to stimulate the economy will hit a brick wall. |
vedaxcool:Is the US a developing country? Developed countries have no problem applying some aspects of socialism because they have the economic infrastructure to withstand any possible side effect. Welfare packages for example is a socialist policy. So developed countries with large funds to spare will have no problem dabbling into welfare. Nigeria on the other hand, a developing country that is so eager to develop her economy cannot resort to socialist policies as a method of economic development. China that is still a communist country politically today had to abandon socialism as a method of economic development in the 70s to allow its citizens participate fully in economic activities. The action to open up the economy and allow private sector become major movers and players factors of production leaped front China from economic stagnation in the late 60s to an industrial economy in 2015. Today China have the second largest economy in the world thanks to the capitalist economic policies. If China had stuck to their government control economy, China today would have been a failed country economically via unemployment disparities. China is a country with huge population, they understood that if nothing is done to developed the economy, massive unemployment will shut down the country. Hence their decision to opt for capitalism as a viable method of economic development. If China can do that, why not Nigeria? Socialism has never and will never be a viable option especially for a developing countries like Nigeria for economic development. Even fathers of socialism Karl Marx and Frederick engels understood that capitalism has to take root before socialism emerges. They themselves knew that socialism is not a viable method to develop a country from a developing to developed country economically. Be that as it may, Socialism is a defective economic system. Show me one country in the world that developed economically through socialism. |
Is this a new development Has Buhari developed the balls to face OBJ? |
Just finished watching documentaries about Dubai- Impossible City and Mega Structures. The king, then a crown prince was and is responsible for the Infrastructural miracle in Dubai. |
Bubu will pile up $48 billion in 4 years. |
The problem is not even the delay in forming a cabinate, the economic ideology of the president is the main bone of contention. PMB believes in big government (Socialism), a phenomenon where government is the sole provider and mover of all economic activities. A system where government is responsible for providing jobs and welfare packages for citizens. These are cardinal believes of Buhari. A look at his economic policies in both the 80s and today point to the fact that PMB is predispose to tight control mechanism (Centralization), as a means to spur disirable economic outputs. Any element of liberalisation and free market were put into reverse gear. That's why I was not surprised at his recent comments in Benin Rep where he told Nigerians living in that country to stay put and not come back to add more problems to him. Do you know why he said that? Its because he's a Socialist. As a socialist, he believe it is the responsibility of government to control factors of production including provision of jobs. A free market individual will never make that kind of comment because jobs are provided and created by the private sector, not government. The Buhari APC led government by virture of their body language and campaign promises are socialist. Socialism as an economic system has never led to any form of economic development anywhere in the world, and will never lead to any kind of economic prosperity for Nigeria in the 21st century. Unless Nigeria is Restructured to practice Real Economic Federalism where each state in the country will have total access and control of their God-given resources and develop at their own pace, Nigeria will continue to remain stagnant economically. |
hinwazaka:One major reason why I supported GEJ was because he doesn't belong to any cabal. He's his own man. He understood that to revamp the oil sector, all spikes and nails that were responsible for inefficiency and lack of transparency of the sector were removed. A development that brought him into direct confrontation with cabal members. Notice that of all GEJ's ministers, the ones so hated by the cabals are Ngozi and Deziani. The latter was even more hated because she sidestepped people who were trying to maintain status quo. She herself admitted to the fact that she stepped on powerful toes as she implements GEJ's transformation policies within the sector. That's why in an effort to rubbish and reverse great developments achieved within the petroleum sector, the media has been flooded stories about corruption by past administration. Airwaves awashed with stories about a single minister stealing $6 billion. The real target is Deziani. |
Great observation. At least not all people will be decieved by misinformation currently being peddled by the apc concerning the nation's refineries. Those who have been following developments within the petroleum sector in the last eight years will attest to the fact that GEJ made great strites and effort, especially the promotion of local content that saw the rise and development of indegenous technology and capcity to manage high tech facilities. This leap was the major reason why TAM of our refineries was awarded to local engineers rather than foreigners. Not only did that helped saved cost, it also provided the enabling environment whereby all resources expended via TAM were re-invested within the oil sector by our local engineers for increase technological capacities. |
The phone looks great considering all the goodies packed into the device.
The only downside is the screen size. 5inches is too small. |

Though I was among those who believed that Nothing will be achieved from the US trip, I find it very curious that Obama, who was already Scheduled to embark on African tour of Kenya and Ethiopia choosed to invite Buhari over to the US to dissipate the necessity of visiting Nigeria. This is very curious. Why did Obama not include Nigeria in his African tour list Why did Obama invite Buhari in the first place![]() |
Candybob:That's what most Nigerians and Africans don't understand. They believed the US is a country looking out for their best interest. They have no idea that they are the least in US govt agenda as far as security and economic development is concerned. Recent reports has it that the US govt is about to send 8 F16 fighter jets to boost Egyptian govt defence system despite gross human rights abuses and massive political interferance on the Judiciary in the country. The same US that refused to sell arms to help Nigeria fight terrorist because of imaginery human rights abuses as reported by Amnesty Intl. |
When ever the US govt castigate a particular govt watchout, that government is a strong willed govt with guts. In the same vain when the US govt praises a particular govt, be warned, that govt is a puppet. |
This is a noble idea but should be geared towards economic and infrastructural development rather than revaluing the naira. However Nigeria's current centralised economic structure will not make this scheme work. In sane societies, long-term economic developments are exclusive responsbilities of states, not federal govt. Restructuring Nigeria to the path of True Economic Fereralism where states have total access and control of their God given resources is the only solution to Nigeria's problem. Anything contrary will not work. Sadly the Jonathan's National Comfab report which supports the idea of True Economic Liberalisation for Nigerian states has been thrown to the dustbin by people opposed to it. |
RichDad1:Its normal to demand justice on boko haram suicide bomb members considering damages and destruction to lives and properties they inflicted on innocent citizens. The pain and lose of loved ones to people like her; a suicide bomber becomes unbearable. So the need to see life sniffed-out of them can be understood. However we must understand that suicide bombers themselves are victims of Boko haram scheme of evil. We all know that a great deal of Brainwashing is done on them for the purpose of radicalization, but there's more to it. The truth is, boko haram officials use drugs on these people. Not cocain or these local drugs you see around on the streets. Powerful drugs with capasity for Mind-Control are the special drugs used on would-be suicide bombers. By means of syringes, these drugs are injected into their body system every day until they become addicted. As soon as the would-be suicide bomber shows signs of addiction, brainwashing starts. Of couse at that stage, the victim will comply to every command and word giving because they have lost the control of their minds; via drugs. NOBODY can overcome this process of Mind-Control, not you not me. Reason why these drugs are used is because it helps to condition minds of victims for purpose of radicalization. Nazi Germany and former USSR experimented on these drugs back in the days to see how Loyalty and Obedience to law can be achieved on peolpe to make them better Citizens - 'Super-Humans'. Once an individual is hooked on these drugs, the person will do anything including mass murder, just to get a single dose of it. And once you are addicted to the drug and you are not given a dose of it regularly; everyday, your mind and body will be tortured, so severely until it reaches a point where you completely lose your mind. An individual can even die in the process because the body system got used to the drug. Until a dose is given, the victim's life will be a living hell. That's the power of these drugs. That's the reason why these victim's do unspeakable things including murder and suicide bombings just to get one syringe of it. For suicide bombers, once they have been fully radicalised, that is it. They become mass killing machine. The good news is that people hooked on these kinds of drugs can be Rehabilitated. Once rehabilitation is complete, the victim will go back to who he or she was before the addiction. Most people who where; lets say 'Lost' in the past because of these drugs usually don't believe they were in such a terrible condition as soon as the got themselves rehabilitated. These Drugs are Evil. That's why this suicide bomber need to be rehabilitated to get her life back. She can become a normal citizen despite her past as a would-be suicide bomber. She herself is a victim just like many others lost through boko haram terror scheme. |
mirenda:You have no idea what the west are doing to Africa in matters of international trade under the pretence of health. |
The excuses giving by Europe is rubbish. The amount of toxic fish and poultry products that originated from Europe never waranted Nigeria to place a ban on European products, how dare they ban Nigeria's agro products Is this part of the modus of world trade among countries For decades western countries have searching for ways to stale Africa's economic development. Baning African products in the name of low standard seem to be the most effective way to achieve their objectives. How many people have died in Nigeria for consuming water melons and cocao beans Looking back to the 1700s prior to colonization of Africa, Europe and America forced least developed regions of the world to trade at the barrel of a gun, forcing poor countries like Japan and China to open their borders. How was the quality of their products then Was the trade a mutual benefit or exploitation? African countries must rise up and put a stop to this nonsence by trading with each other and forging economic ties with developing countries in Asia and South America. The ban of Nigeria's agro products by Europe may be connected to the European trade agreement Nigeria refused to sign since 2014. |
