Do you know what you have to do to earn a 100 DOLLARS ? Healthcare: Go to the hospital in the dollar country, ordinary headache they will charge you $350 after insurance deductions and co-pay. In Nigeria, there is no hospital that will charge you $10. Some hospital visits abroad can cost you $50000. (Giving birth with C/S, 1 or 2 days of ICU). In Nigeria you wont spend $500. Education: Come and study in dollar economy let them give you loan with 7% percent compund interests, you will work and die without finish paying for such loans. In Nigeria people study for free and "japa" Thats essentially free human capital, No country in the world allows there manpower to JAPA free of charge. Public Transportation: Compare the airfares and bus fares, $500 tickets is europe or america if you buy last minute, is a cheap ticket. In naija you can walk into Abuja airport and fly to Lagos last minute, with $100. Utilities: Electricity, power and water, Have you paid water bill, heating bill $800 before ? You are comparing dollar to naira ? Telecommunications: Even Internet costs are comparable, phones services, standalone phone servces can cost up to $120 plus taxes for a month. Do you pay that much to sub your phone in a month ? Certain Agricultural Products: Agricultural produce are cheaper in Nigeria, than any dollar economy. A big Mango can be $3-4, Have you ever bought 1 mango for 5000naira ? Meat is cheaper in Nigeria, food stuff even with the cry is still cheaper than abroad. Would you rather earn $5000 and have to spend $4995 for bills and living. Or earn 100,000 naira and spend 50000 naira for bills and living ? |
SHAME NO CATCH YOU, YOU BUILD TECH HUB LIKE SHRINE. TOMORROW YOU WILL WAKE UP AND SAY PRESIDENCY IS YOUR TURN. SO WE CAN ALLOW YOU TO TURN NIGERIA TO THAT KIND OF STRUCTURE YOU BUILT |
alimiadedayo1:Thank you. God bless and heal you. Previous governments were subsidizing dollar at 1.5billion dollars every month. How is that sustainable ? Smuggling in food with subsidized dollars, no tax, no chance for growth of local production. We are still praying for your mental health. |
Let the truth be told. The Naira has not had value in a long while. Its similar to a leaking roof, its raining and you keep patching the roof, when the roof has 1 million leaking holes. The money meant to fix the roof in the past was being looted by politicians with the help of Emefiele. Instead they were patching the roof. Its better to remove the whole roof and put install another modern roof. However if you remove the roof, rain will soak the residents. Tinubu removed the bad roof, thats why the rain is beating Nigerians. The rain will even get worse, because the rainy season just started....Hopefully he will install a stronger more durable roof to last us many years. THATS WHAT THE PLAN IS, LETS SEE IF TINUBU DELIVERS. |
Gather the evidence, gather financial forensics to dig up everything. Charge him with treason, because his ineptitude has now pushed 300 million Nigerians into worse living conditions. If you charge him very well, the present/future CBN governors will sit up or resign if they are compromised. But we all know you are playing to the gallery, probably half of you guys will go down with Emefiele if you charge him. Most of the politicians today benefitted from Emefiele. |
Share the food to the locals Give out anonymous phone numbers to people to report food hoarding, food smuggling, naira hoarding, dollars hoarding.Promise rewards, disseminate information in local languages. Legislate whistleblowers protection act. All those hidden dollars will cast. All the smugglers wil cast. All hoarders will cast. All money laundering will cast. Let the citizens know they can contribute against the corruption, it shouldn't be just the authorities. |
It will eventually lead to growth.... A lot of questions have gone unanswered A lot has been taken for granted A lot of politicians just come to loot. We need to hold our leaders accountable. Mr Kenyan, you cannot cry more than the bereaved. You cannot shave a mans head in his absence. Thanks for your concern. |
Globad:Transitioning from a federal police system to a state police system in phases requires careful planning and implementation to ensure smooth integration and effective law enforcement across the country. Here's a potential approach for the quarterly transition, along with specific duties, expectations, and oversight mechanisms for both state and federal police: Phase 1: First Quarter (80% Federal Police, 20% State Police) Duties and Expectations: Federal Police: Focus on handling major crimes with national implications such as terrorism, organized crime, and inter-state offenses. Maintain a presence in border areas, airports, and other strategic locations to safeguard national security. Provide support and training to state police forces to enhance their capacity and effectiveness. Coordinate with other federal agencies such as the military and intelligence services to address security challenges. State Police: Responsible for maintaining law and order within their respective states, including preventing and investigating crimes, enforcing traffic regulations, and handling local security issues. Work closely with local communities to build trust and gather intelligence on criminal activities. Collaborate with other state agencies and stakeholders to address social and economic factors contributing to crime. Implement community policing initiatives to improve public safety and foster positive relations with residents. Oversight: The federal government retains oversight of the overall security architecture, setting national security priorities, and coordinating inter-state law enforcement efforts. The National Police Service Commission or a similar body oversees the recruitment, training, and professional standards of federal police officers. State governments establish State Police Service Commissions to oversee the recruitment, training, and discipline of state police officers, ensuring adherence to state laws and regulations. Phase 2: Second Quarter (70% Federal Police, 30% State Police) Duties and Expectations: Federal Police: Transition to a more supportive role, providing specialized assistance to state police forces in areas such as forensic investigation, cybercrime, and counter-terrorism. Strengthen cooperation with state police agencies through joint task forces and information-sharing mechanisms. Maintain a rapid response capability to handle emergencies and provide backup support to state police during major incidents. State Police: Expand their presence and capacity to effectively police their jurisdictions, including rural and urban areas. Enhance collaboration with neighboring states and local authorities to address cross-border crimes and other regional security challenges. Implement community engagement programs to involve residents in crime prevention efforts and address public safety concerns. Develop specialized units to tackle specific types of crime prevalent in their respective states, such as cattle rustling, communal clashes, or cyber fraud. Oversight: The federal government continues to oversee strategic aspects of law enforcement, including counter-terrorism operations, border security, and interstate crime. State governments strengthen the role of State Police Service Commissions in ensuring professionalism, accountability, and adherence to human rights standards within state police forces. Efforts are made to establish mechanisms for inter-agency cooperation and coordination, including regular meetings between federal and state law enforcement agencies to exchange information and coordinate operations. Phase 3: Third Quarter (60% Federal Police, 40% State Police) Duties and Expectations: Federal Police: Focus on specialized tasks requiring national coordination and resources, such as combating transnational crime syndicates, drug trafficking networks, and cyber threats. Provide training and technical assistance to state police in areas requiring specialized expertise, such as forensic analysis, hostage rescue, and crisis negotiation. Continue to support state governments in capacity-building initiatives and joint operations to address emerging security challenges. State Police: Assume primary responsibility for maintaining law and order within their jurisdictions, including responding to emergencies, conducting criminal investigations, and enforcing state laws. Strengthen community policing strategies to build trust, gather intelligence, and prevent crime at the grassroots level. Enhance collaboration with relevant stakeholders, including civil society organizations, traditional leaders, and local government authorities, to address security threats and promote peace and stability. Oversight: The federal government focuses on providing strategic guidance and resources to support state police efforts, including funding for training, equipment, and infrastructure. State governments assume greater responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day operations of their police forces, including budgetary allocations, personnel management, and performance evaluation. Mechanisms for inter-agency cooperation and information-sharing are further institutionalized to facilitate seamless coordination between federal and state law enforcement agencies. Phase 4: Fourth Quarter (50% Federal Police, 50% State Police) Duties and Expectations: Federal Police: Transition to a leaner, more specialized force focused on high-level strategic tasks, including national security intelligence, border protection, and critical infrastructure security. Enhance cooperation with state and local authorities through joint task forces, intelligence-sharing platforms, and mutual aid agreements. Provide support and assistance to state police in addressing complex and multi-jurisdictional crimes that require federal intervention or expertise. State Police: Assume full responsibility for maintaining law and order within their jurisdictions, with adequate resources and support from state governments to fulfill their mandate effectively. Strengthen partnerships with communities, businesses, and other stakeholders to address local security challenges and promote community resilience. Develop innovative approaches to policing, including the use of technology, data-driven strategies, and community-based initiatives, to enhance public safety and trust. Oversight: The federal government maintains a strategic oversight role in areas of national importance, such as counter-terrorism, interstate crime, and critical infrastructure protection. State governments assume primary responsibility for overseeing the operations of their police forces, including accountability mechanisms, transparency measures, and compliance with legal and regulatory standards. Efforts continue to strengthen inter-agency collaboration and coordination at the federal, state, and local levels to address evolving security threats and ensure seamless law enforcement across the country. Throughout the transition process, it is essential to prioritize the rule of law, respect for human rights, and accountability in policing practices, regardless of whether the jurisdiction is federal or state. Additionally, ongoing dialogue and collaboration between the federal government, state governments, law enforcement agencies, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders are critical to ensuring the success of the transition and building public trust in the new policing arrangements. |
Ripping off the Dollar subsidy overnight was an excellent idea. If you do it slowly everybody will change their naira to Dollars and cause even more pressure. However Fuel Subsidy could have been done gradually to be honest, as compared to dollar, you cannot hoard fuel. They should have done a quarterly subsidy removal and done it in 6-8 quarters. Raising interests rate all over the world was done gradually 2 years later some countries have just dipped into a "controlled recession". Imagine if the USA or UK had jacked up rates from 1% to 8% overnight. This is similar to what Nigeria just did with the fuel subsidy. More than 90% of Nigerians make a living directly or indirectly from subsidized fuel. There is now way this government can survive without transferring that subsidy to another sector, most likely food. If you increase the salaries too much, it will cause mega inflation, because the prices will just go up even further. Its better for the production to produce things that will cater for the current "spending power" of Nigerians. However this system can only work if some people are not looting the country blind. When the government is ready to tackle these people then their policies will work. |
Everybody is saying Obaseki underperformed. |
I see your minsters are finally waking up, get the other ministers out as well, make sure Nigerians know them by name, let them hold townhall meetings in their constituencies, and geo political areas. The ministers are younger than you, they should be doing the heavy lifting. As the president you should just have a 1-2hr meetings and then let them do the heavy lifting. Organize a ruthless sharp witted think tank "cabal" and let them do most of the decision making, just make sure none of them takes decisions alone, they should always discuss amongst themselves and you can veto at anytime. Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development- Discuss food security, Short term plan and long term plan Minister of Aviation- Open up travel to other countries, direct flights Minister of Communications and Digital Economy- Its being over 8 months, lets hear your voice on pertinent issues Minister of Defence- This is the clown threatening Nigerians about unguarded utterances, Get them to say it to Hardcore press and be grilled. Minister of Education- Whats the long term plan and short term plan ? Minister of Environment- What exactly are your plans short term and long term ? Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning- Where do we stand in terms of finance, budget and NP. Explain what the fiscal looks like, Long term and short term. Minister of Foreign Affairs- Nigeria's image could use some laundry at home and abroad, This man should be traveling more than the president, with goals not aimlessly. Minister of Health - Should give us an account of what he met on ground ? Numbers of PHC ? Goals short term and long term. Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment- Trade is really a big one, now Naira is low, wages are low, alot of companies can be enticed to set up offices in Nigeria, But trade minister has to pursue them. Minister of Information and Culture- Come out of hiding, tell us your short term and long term goals. Minister of Interior- Interior seems to hit the ground running, we have seen changes. Minister of Justice- Justice, bring out some big looters and try them, More laws needed in the financial sector to regulate the currency beyond this administration. Minister of Labour and Employment - Labour should talk to private sector to hire more people, as CSR, also come out unemployment rate in numbers, how they plan to reduce it, what are their long term goals and short term goals as well. Minister of Mines and Steel Development- We should have turned precious metals to a natioanl revenue generator by now, Bring in investors, South Africa gold is a large source of revenue to the country. Is Nigeria stting on untapped Gold resources ? No white elephant project by governement. Private sectors can mine and if they discover anything substantial government can tax and regulate. Minister of Niger Delta Affairs- We need to hear your voice ? What is the plan ? Minister of Petroleum Resources - What is the plan ? Short term long term ? Revenue ? Barrels ? New refinery licenses should be auctioned. Minister of Power - Do we need more privatization, what technologies are used in other 3rd world countries with 24/7 power supply ? A lot of 3rd world countries have power supply 24/7 Minister of Science and Technology- What farming modalities and animal husbandry can we bring in to feed 300 million Nigerians ? Minister of Transportation- Made some noise about CNG, then it died down, regulate the current transporters operating all over the country, sell licenses to trailer companies that can carry food, raw materials across the country, There is so much that can be privatized in the transport industry. This can create millions of jobs for Nigerians and revenue for government. Minister of Water Resources - Come out dont be shy, lets hear your voice. Minister of Women Affairs-Come out dont be shy, lets hear your voice. Minister of Works and Housing- This is another gold mine, in terms of Job creation and revenue generation for the government. Minister of Youth and Sports Development - This is another gold mine, in terms of Job creation and revenue generation for the government. Start a national league, private sponsored, all the foreign companies running In Nigeria and wealthy Nigerians can invest, sponsor etc, Start nationally and grow internationally. Let your minsters come out and engage, the noisemakers, on a quarterly basis, let them come out and say what they have done and what they are planning to do and what they have in the pipeline, let them take questions from Nigerians. Dont let them be shouting Tinubu up and down, You are setting a bad precedence, by allowing everyone to point at the president when things are not going well. Get them all involved. |
Its time for the Government to stand up to these guys. Google, twitter, facebook Should open officies in Nigeria and hire Nigerians Or they should pay taxes as they make income from advertisement to Nigerians. They cannot just treat Nigerians anyhow from a distance......We are nobodys side bitch. If they treat us in a discriminatory way, how is that addressed, we want the same online rights as every country. Say no to the New Technology discrimination. |
SenatorNwoye (Labour Party) Tech hub looks like a renovated shrine. One looks like you want to check google and do online research, the other looks like you want to consult Amadioha This is the Labour party that wants to develop Nigeria ? Please lets judge politicians on contribution to society, not ethnicity, religion or something stupid. When Abiru contests against Nwoye tomorrow, Dont ask us why are we supporting Abiru....Can you see the evidence ? I am sure Senator Nwoye is on Nairaland abusing APC. No wonder Peter Obi enjoys living in Lagos. I am sure Atiku built a better one in Dubai Please call Peter Obi to come and commission it

Globad:A mixture of Federal and state police, Start with 80% Federal and 20% state, then next 2 years make it 60% federal and 40% state. Then gradually pullback till we have 10% Federal and 90% state, But there should always be federal oversight, Nigeria is too polarized to have every state having their own police. If this government should turn to state police overnight, They are removing the subsidy on state security. We are still in the turmoil of removed dollar and fuel subsidy. Anyone suggesting state police now is being delusional. |
Tinubu needs to delegate more, he is too old to handle every Nigerian issue in his office, He needs to set up a smart think thank generating ideas on public image laundering every 24hrs. The opposition is working harder than the incumbent to portray a certain public image for this administration. Minister of Information, should be on the TV, radio in all Nigerian languages and dialect telling Nigerians what is planned and the process. Every month he should hold a press conference and be grilled by journalist, on the administrations policies. Minister Of agriculture, should start meeting with large scale farmers in different geo political zones, and parlaying with them. All other ministers should also engage the public, if they are doing a good job a lot of these uprisings will not always get to the presidents desk The senate should start meeting with non performing sector controllers, to give them a widely televised questions and answer sessions House of Rep committees, should be announcing making announcements as well, all the banking changes and forex changes, should be done and announced after grilling sessions with house committee on bankings. Billionaire Business men in the private sector should also be saddled with corporate social responsibility projects CSR. To whom much is given much is expected. Let them get government favors with the amount of CSR they execute. We all know they dont pay anything for the raw materials obtained in Nigeria, so they are technically milking the country for their wealth. The communities they get these raw materials from should feel their presence. Tinubu needs to sit in the middle and "delegate" to all these cabinet members, put them to work, they lobbied for these positions, make them work and sweat. The president should just address very major crises. At Tinubu's age truth be told, he doesn't have the energy. Surround yourself with thinkers, and then form a kitchen cabinet of loyalist to vet the other cabinet members before public utterances are made. Reward and praise cabinet members that solve problems. To make the others sit up. |
Clueless senators, ready to rubber stamp the president or a prominent elite. They are not even aware they represent their constituencies, they have not discussed state police with the people who elected them. Tinubu mentioned state police yesterday, the whole senate woke up today, and they are ready to "approve" it. Presidential, legislative and the judiciary should be holding each other accountable, to provide checks and balances. But in Nigeria, none of that exists.... Possible problems would be: 1-Potential for political interference and corruption. 2-Inadequate funding leading to poor resources and training. 3-Fragmentation of law enforcement, causing coordination issues. 4-Risk of abuse of power without strong oversight. 5-Exacerbation of ethnic and regional tensions. Start slowly 80% federal police and 20% state police,Gradually over 6 years pullback till we have 10% Federal and 90% state, But there should always be federal oversight, Nigeria is too polarized to have every state having their own police. If this government should turn to state police overnight, They are removing the subsidy on state security. We are still in the turmoil of removed dollar and fuel subsidy. Anyone suggesting state police now is being delusional.

Abdul Samad Rabiu.....One of the few Nigerian business men with human face. Lets see if the other monopolies follow suit. Time to break up these Monopoly-Oligarchs, issue more licenses to other investors, issue more telecoms licenses, issue more cement production licenses, mining licenses, real estate licenses, refinery licenses, bring in more high stake players, if they invest all the looted funds, the money will circulate. This government is lacking creativity,

If you look at Nigeria very well. There are possibilities the president has being kidnapped. Not physically, but he is being forced to give into demands. With threats of destabilizing his governments. Asiwaju is still playing Mr Nice guy, in this life you cannot be friends with everyone. Its time to identify the people who are sabotaging Nigeria and serve them a deadly blow. Do not let these people derail your governments. If you cannot catch them at home, catch them abroad. Go after their assets, go after their monopolies, dig up dirt on them. There is a war against the current government. Dont just pray, prayer alone doesnt solve any problem. Election is over. You are the president. Delegate the responsibilities, let other people carry burdens as well. Let the NSA be on TV, let minister of agriculture be talking about food security daily, let him do a state tour, get the press to follow him state by state,Let you minister of information engage the people talking. Let everybody that begged you for an appointment, let them sweat !! You are approaching Nigeria with a lukewarm attitude, you are losing the court of public opinion, you need to fight back with a smile.

The appropriate senate/House of rep committee should forestall these strikes and call the group leadership to dialogues before they threaten strike. |

Politicians always deceiving people with religion. |
EDUECO:I agree with you. |
SoNature:Unfortunately states cannot be allowed to control resources, imagine the corruption at the federal level, if we give it to states, the whole country will fall apart. States revenue generation are not equal. You cannot build federal roads in rivers state only and not provide security in borno. Eventually the bandits and kidnappers will be a national problem. If your neighbors house is burning, it is a good idea to use your water to put it out soonest. |
Blackfire:Lets buy it together, I have also been trying to get him to sell to me. Better still lets start a more interactive platform with a touch of AI. |
If Nigerian states want state police, 1-There should be a vote in the house of representatives, If it passes then it moves to the senate. 2-If it passes, house of representatives, then the senate votes, if it passes the senate then it becomes Law. 3-If the president thinks otherwise he can veto it, if he agrees he signs it into existence. Hopefully the State police doesn't end being Ballot box snatchers for the states Godfather. |
1. On addressing insecurity which is also affecting farming and food production, President Tinubu made three key pronouncements. Essentially nothing, no tactics, no strategy, more like just pretending to be doing something. 2. On the rising cost of food: The President directed that the State Governments and Federal government should collaborate to increase local food production. Even if food production will be increased, it will take 3-4 years to notice any impact realistically, A lot of people would have died by then ? The farm is not bigger than last year ? The farmer who had a hoe last year doesnt have a tractor this year ? The storage facilities are still the same. This is passing the buck. Food security is a national security problem. The President advised against the idea of food importation and price control when local food producers should be encouraged to produce more food. Food importation is bad, everyone knows that. Has the government met with the Large scale farmers? Can the ministers of Agriculture, tell us what we produce and by how much we need to increase produce? Bring in Agricultural franchises and set up in every state, Farming has to be done scientifically with mechanization, tractors, harvesters, hybrid seeds, pesticides, fertilizers, farmers insurance. Its patronizing for the president to keep telling them not to import but increase food production ? How will they do this ? By Magic ? We have NNPC and yet we have not been able to get energy right, but we do not have a similar organization for farmers, we just expect a bunch of local farmers to replace the importation.Just like that...lol 3. The President advised Governors to follow the example of Kano State in dealing with the hoarding of food for profiteering by commodities merchants. He directed the Inspector-General of Police, National Security Adviser and Department of State Security Services to monitor warehouses hoarding food items across the country and stop profiteering by merchants. Lets not mistake storage for hoarding, Farmers should not be abused as well, if politicians cannot lower their own income, why are farmers expected to sell all their products at cheap prices, Are farmers not in the same economy as everyone else. If a farmer sells everything for cheap but seeds, fertilizers, labour, cost of petrol for tractors is skyrocketing. How will the farmer survive the farming season. A responsible leader should take responsibility. Farmers farm for profit, they are not the ones responsible to subsidize food in Nigeria. They also have financial responsibilities and prices are skyrocketing.Nigeria doesnt make tractors, tractor prices just doubled in price with dollar exchange rates. 4. The President charged Governors to pay attention to livestock development in their states and increase production most especially poultry and fishing products. This also lacks strategy or any expertise ?Are they going to start poultry production in government house ? The poultry feeds have doubled in price, corn is a staple in making these feeds. Mr President what is the strategy ? Are we going to start a poultry in Aso rock ? 5. The President pleaded with Governors to ensure all salary arrears to workers and gratuities to retired workers and pensioners are cleared as a way to put money into the hands of the people since states are now getting more monthly FAAC revenue. Spend the money, don’t spend the people, he urged the governors. This should be enforced, there should be checks and balances in place to make sure the monies get to the end user. This is not business as usual. 6. President Tinubu implored the Governors to create more economic opportunities for the youths in their states to keep them more productively engaged. At the end of the day, the states cannot be responsible for all the youths, if so we would not need a president, we would be okay with just state governors. The federal government should also create opportunities, also private sector should be saddled with creating opportunities for youth, people hiring foreigners, should only be doing that if there is no competent person in Nigeria. Food security has to addressed, when energy was an issue, energy had to be subsidized, why is food any different ?Why are we expecting the poor farmer to boost production overnight? Its not good enough to tell the security to look for hoarders, everybody knows hoarding is not the problem. We need scientific and mechanized farming. We need hybrid seeds, storage facilities, pesticides, fertilizers, technical expertise. There is a reason food importation has been rampant before now. We have so many senators, house of representatives, ministers, advisers, special advisers and this is the best we come out with, we have problems peculiar to Nigeria. The government needs to tackle these. If not it will only get worse?

nairalanda1:If they sell it at 1000naira there would be a revolution in Nigeria. |
Tohsynetita1:You are welcome, our government are deceiving us with grammar everyday, even countries at war have stable currency. |
sulaak:Well said, we have to stand up to these idiots we elect, if we dont do that they will implement harsh policies to the citizens and still loot the treasury. |
killsmith:I am also getting that vibe, some people are definetly printing the naira in Nigeria or abroad and importing it back into the country to buy dollars. |
Idaytesj29:Very good idea. But we are not technologically there yet Power and internet has to be 100% before that would be effective. |
sulaak:What has happened to crude oil sales in the last 50 years ?? Dubai can live without crude oil today because of investments in other sectors. Everyone in Norway is potentially a millionaire by GDP because of their Sovereign wealth fund from crude oil sales. A group of Nigerians cannot loot and mismanage the commonwealth of everybody and then ask all of us to pay the Debt back !! |
