curiositymaster: So what becomes of Captain Sagil Koli who leaked the video? Don't you think he should be promoted for his heroics and act of patriotism (by releasing that video/audio to the world)? Jes sayin He has been reabsorbed into the army and continuing his career. I think he was given an award or emblem that is it............ I am not sure if the move to reabsorb him is safe for Koli. The logic is that, he will be tagged a whitsle blower, people will be too careful to a point of fault, Momoh's folks in the army could plot for him......... I think they should have moved him to NSA and let him continue his career...... |

obiaguna: Even if I don't believe this story from the PDP for lack of substantial evidence, I know that partial recruitments has always been the forte of the FIRS. I acknowledge that recruitments are done on merit but it doesn't equate to the ones done behind closed doors. If you know a big man or woman and u have a fairly good result at least, then you can get in. Bros, There is a difference between what you stated up here and the allegation PDP is making. The truth is every organisation has various means of recruitment, from the open jobs published in the dailies, to confidential ones done by recruiting agencies and direct hiring. That you know a big man and gets connected in a job is also relative. These is done irrespective of govt parastatal or private sector. The allegation is that the rulling govt filled FIRS with over 200/250 family members. A simple and verifiable list will add credibility to the accusation. |

obailala: Much ado about nothing!
How can work continue on the project when money hasn't been released?
Can someone kindly mention the federal works project that happened in the entire 2015?
Buhari just had his first budget passed last week and N17billion was budgeted for the said 2nd Niger bridge. The same last week, a N350billion stimulus was released to resume abandoned federal projects and the finance minister rightly announced that the priority projects are the Lagos Ibadan road and the 2nd Niger Bridge. So what exactly is this large scale wailing all about?
http://www.punchng.com/n350bn-package-lagos-ibadan-expressway-2nd-niger-bridge-to-benefit/
Please when we want to wail, let's do it with a little bit of wisdom and with some due diligence in getting the right info first. This my address is to the Igbo folks who are wailing here like the foolish and the ignorant 1. Believe Authority newspapers at your own peril. It is simply a tool to push bigotry and falsehood 2. When Fashola was defending his budget with the Senate committee, and there were subtle protests about the budget not covering their sections and constituencies, Fashola mentioned that FG was concentrating on "Economic Roads", which are roads that offers equitable distribution of FG's offering to all parts of the country. The first on the list of "Economic Roads" mentioned is Second Niger Bridge 3. Just last week the Finance minister mentioned FG's N350b intervention to rejig the Economy. Second Niger Bridge tops the list of projects that the funds would be chanelled to. 4. So you want to tell me within a week the government will change their mind, after securing a budget approval for it? Why are we allowing fools to get into our heads? Someone sits down and concort falsehood, and we all make it our ethos? The same way we allowed a lazy and bigot ThisDay journalist to concort the famed "...we will not rest until sharia is practiced to all parts of Nigeria" and credit it as statment made by Buhari, when this journalist did not attend the event and neither speaks hausa. Who are the enemies here? If we're to believe the report, 1. You will wonder why some communities are putting personal greed over national interest. You will wonder why governors in the state had not gone there to put these so called communities in their places. When a Lekki community were disturbing Dangote Refinery, Fashola went there and gave them a stern warning, today the Refinery is on target to commissioning in 2018. I dare ask why the governors, elders, Senator and HORs from SE had not taken this as a collective responsibility to meet the communities and resolve the logjam 2. PMB is hated for what is not founded, yet Onolememen is not questioned for the yet to be explained $700m? 3. How come an inconsequential statistic is the source of information? " An employee of the firm (name withheld) who claimed he was recruited in April 2014 at the site of the bridge, admitted that Julius Berger had stopped work at the project site since June 2015 due to non-funding by the Federal Government." 4. At times I wonder if our conscience works right. We prefer to lie against someone, despite knowing the negative consequences and also prefer to ignore, when we know it will put is in bad light. The enemies of the second Niger bridge was explined by Sir Ziggy Azike - " https://www.nairaland.com/2602228/truth-second-niger-bridge-chibuzo-n" |

anyaekekehinde: Thats the problem with Nigeria, we use data and statistics to deceive people, you see, the day transmission capacity will be expanded to accommodate 20GW, is the day you will be aware that this 12GW generation na just packaging. Let me give you an illustration, they said the Installed capacity of kainji is 760MW, well documented on paper, but the Engineers know that even if the Dams are full, the governor control is operating the plant at optimum capacity, Transmission lines are okay, the max, I mean Max this your 760MW can give is 400MW, I am even been generous by saying 400MW, due to issues ranging From ageing turbines, Generator Transformer limitations etc I think you're buring your head in too much of the technical jargons....... |

Bros, Hope you get my drift. The objective from Abike is about building the nation together. I believe it is only civil not to insult the sensibilities of those that hold the country dear. I do agree that hard working Nigerians living in US shipped 20b US dollars, sure, but sending money home is but one part of nation building. Running the country down by cataloging woes (especially from those who don't even live here and with overt exaggeration) is definitely not nation building. |

Lionhearted511: A revered traditional ruler like the Ooni shouldn't be seen at every social or political event no matter the circumstance or his ties to the celebrant. The Oba of Benin will never leave the palace to visit anybody even the president except such person comes to visit him in Benin. It is part of tradition. That accounts for the degree of respect and reverence the binis accord the palace. So much familiarity breeds contempt. How come you try to Lord Benin opinion as standard. If the Benin's decide to cage their Oba in the palace, it is their own cup of tea. Our Obas have been free to move, associate and relate even with other Kings. |

70% lost in transmission and commercial log-jam? Where did you get this info from?. Anyway you are wrong. There is difference between Installed Capacity, Actual Available Capacity and Operational Capacity. There losses on the grid, the Technical loss on the grid should be between 25% to 40%, but not as bad as you placed it The commercial loss and collection loss is only pronounced at the distribution level. Bros, you simple restated what I have stated in long sentences. And yes we have a generating capacuty of 12GW, that is a fact and data supports it. Why we can only deliver 3GW in transmission is another matter entirely. Give me your email and I will send a document to you on the stats |

mayorkyzo: : What's the use of meters when there's no electricity to power them..these people should just stop this useless propaganda and get to work...we don't need meters we need light... Sir, I don't totally agree with you. Infact, on the contrary, I am very sure that the only reason why we don't have power supply is because prepaid meters are not installed. The truth is that private establishment don't joke with their REVENUE. If prepaid meters are installed and they know they can not get FREE MONEY again, they will use any means, known and yet to be discovered to ensure their is power. Please quote me any where. If Fashola and indeed Nigerians want light, let us force the Discos to install meters. This will be one miracle we are performing as you will notice a tremendous increase in power supply and we won't hear stories of sabotage of power related equipments again. I tell you sir everything, that needs to be done will be done to provide power. @Teenaira, Trust NLers to argue their ignorance so openly............. my additions to yours are these 1. Provisions of meters is one of the fundamentals in the terms of engagement between the Discos and the consumers. Fashola is forcing the Discos to provide meters to all consumers and even threatened that consumers who don't have meters should/would not pay the Discos if they fail to meet up with the terms 2. Just like you said, the Discos are also sitting pretty on estimated bill, grossly cheating the consumers. Even if power generation drops, the Discos can rely on regular income from the estimated-bill-paying consumers. I am fortunate to have a card meter, I load 20k and it probably last long time, especially when power is erratic. My neighbours in the same estate recieves over 20-25k in monthly estimated bill (I had recieved 26k twice). A resident said he wrote to Ikeja Disco to come disconnect him till they can provide meters, as he cannot be paying for service not provided 3. We rely on unprofessional, naive and myopic bloggers as source of news. Many of these bloggers are do not even understand the technicalities and business/commercial issues, constraints and frameworks in the discussion on power. They just pick bits and write incoherently. I would have expected NLers to pick up these anomalies, but many of the NLers are even worse............ |
