The fact that she is a minor makes it a case of kidnapping. She may have followed him on her own but it behoves on him not to allow her to follow him.
A similar case is that of Adam Johnson who was alleged to have performed a sexual act on a minor (16 year old). She consented to the act but he is not being prosecuted for having sex with a CHILD. It would have been different if the alleged abductor was a minor too. But as an adult, he is culpable and should have known better. Heck how do you marry a minor without her parents consent?
Bros,

1. First off, I am equivocally in agreement with you. If you look up my post, I had laid a premise that Yinusa is culpable
2. I am fully aware of the laws with respect to minors and I know Yinusa will probably be jailed for a minimum of about 6months
3. My focus in point number 4 is to raise the issue of Ese's part and the need to look at how Ese needs to be helped. Ese may have double identity. She might have been sexually active years before this case......

Hypocrisy in this country stinks to high heavens. You see people insulting Islam over what is a norm in the suppose "holy south" were a girl leaves her parents home to be with her man friend even when she is 14yrs. The funny thing about the people insulting Islam is that they are dirty people doing all sorts of dirty and abominable things.

How can a sane man "abduct" a supposed sane girl from beyelsa to kano without her full consent? Does it even make any sense? So yunusa forced the girl into a cab all the way from bayelsa to kano without facing any resistance from her or without anybody noticing? This is the very vital question the "holy ones" need to ask themselves
Bros,

Welcome to a situation where people have decided to shy away from critical reasoning. Ese is innocent, the South is innocent, the Emir, north and Islam is the guilty one........

It is all part of the act, they have absolutely corrupted the child brain with worldly promises.

Dont follow them, we will buy u a plane, that kind of thing.

Bottom-line, she belongs in her parents house and if anybody want to marry her, they must go to her fathers house to seek consent.

Kidnap is very disrespectful to her, parent and community.
while I agree with the bolded, the beging part is cheap and convenient....
Politics › Re: ESe Oruru: Emir Of Kano And Those Distorting The Narrative, By Femi Fani-kayode by mapet: 8:54am On Mar 02, 2016
1. This is another attempt by FFK to stay relevant.
2. He's simply cashing in on a situation to re-write a story he's already late to
3. A fact that cannot be controverted is that Ese is a juvenile, whether she was abducted or eloped, Yinusa, who is the conspirator or co-conspirator is culpable. Any other narrative is simply trying to re-write the story
3. The first source where we heard Ese is supposedly 18 and not 14 was in an audio recording purported to be Ese herself. There is no fact that the Emir or police claimed she's 18.
4. Truth is there is no evidence yet, that Ese was abducted. If her current actions and reactions are anything to go by, It would even seem she left on her own volition. My take is that Ese herself should take her portion of the blame and repremand. Let's not try to make this a case of an innocent girl. In today's world where our kids are exposed beyond their ages, a 14year old girl is most likely well aware of her actions, even if she can't picture the consequences.
5. Ese's mother's claim that someone told her that she's in the Emir's palace will be deemed mere hearsay in court. I personally do not believe it's true. The Emir has shown with proof, how he adjudicated the matter, how he directed an investigation by the Sharia courts, how the Sharia committee recommended that Ese is too young to make a decision on marriage and the Emir's directive that she be handed over to DIG in Kano who should hand her over to Commissioner in Bayelsa for onward return to her parents. These are proved with two dated laters, as at September 2015. The big question is did the DIG carry out this directive? if not why? I believe the Emir has done what is responsible except otherwise proven
6. To me, FFK is just looking for an avenue to take a pun at the Emir and make the story look like a North-South ethnic induced issue. Also cheap is FFK's quick conclusion that Emir is a pedophile. On what basis are we entitled to believe Ese's mother's accusation of the Emir? Because she's a victim or because there is an incontrovertible evidence?

My thoughts are these

1. Whether an abduction or love story or any other, the laws are clear. Yinusa is culpable and should be tried
2. How system is so laxed that until a story became news 7 months later, we could not put paid to the issue.
3. Opportunists like FFK and others in Ben Bruce and the likes are simply trying to leverage on this to push their profile in the public space. They are late to this. It was already in the public domain
4. I am more concerned about Ese's state of mind. We need a psychologist to establish if this is a girl with some issues, or under coercion. Trust me, if we are not careful in handling this matter in Ese's interest, and not any other persons (the FFKs of this world) we will sure loose her on a larger scale. I watched a case on IDx, about a story of a 15year old girl in the US named Chioma Brown that eloped with her 17year old American boyfriend to Mexico. While the Chioma's mother was claiming she was brain-washed, the boy's family claimed it was a case of consensual elopement. Nut shell, after they were found, the American boy was arrested, Chioma reunited with her family..guess what? Chioma moved out of her mothers house 2 days later.....
5. Much more I think we owe each other the truth. Because this happened in the north this time, should not be deemed as a case of abduction, especially if we're yet to be availed with the facts of the case. That's why sensible people like Madam Obyzeks has only stayed on the facts of the case in her commentary and also pursued Ese being reunited with her family

It's a pity many youths died, but then it's not the former minister's fault, lack of impatient killed the killed them and also it was by choice to go for it.
The only question I have to ask is, was the money collected or paid for the form used for the former minister personal need or it went into the ministry purse? As far as I'm concerned there is no case here, the only case is if he didn't use the money to run the ministry or for the purpose in which it was collected for.
Bros,

If you had bothered to read, you will not be asking meaningless and useless question. The monies collected did not hit the ministry's account. It was shared amongst them. One of them is at large with his own, another used his to but properties in Abuja, another converted to dollars for personal use

Even if the money was remitted to federation account, the value of lives is much more than any amount of money and these folks needs to answer for that

Its just very unfortunate the way most of us reason in this country. In the said Immigration recruitment of 2014, did Abba force anyone to pick the forms, or even if he did forced people to buy the forms, was he at those stadia where the incidents happened to command their death? Again is the Nigerian Immigration the only para-military or military that sells its recruitment forms out to Nigerians? Was it not because Buhari lost out in the 2011 general election that led to loss of many lives after that said election? Are we trying to say now that if one is to go for an interview and on his/her way such person dies via accident, does it mean the employing organization should be arraigned before a court for murder or what? This mentality wont take us anywhere. What happened to the then Immigration Boss that didn't deem it right to schedule the test in batches since the applications received were more than required?
This negative and sentimental thinking wont take us to anywhere. No wonder the economy is in shambles today, cos we always fail to get things right at the right time.
If u quote me for insults, its at ur own risk.
At my own risk, let me tell you how idiotic you sound
1. A serving minister scams a million job seekers, your fellow citizen, and you have the nerve to defend him. If I hazard a guess that you brain in on vacation, should your conscience be too?
2. Who in his rightful sense, will conduct aptitude tests in a stadium? was he expecting anything good to come out of it?
3. It is share stupidity, for you to defend a wrong doing by drawing comparison with an alleged wrong doing of another. So because as you claimed people died in 2011 protest of an election that rigged Buhari out, it now makes sense to rationalise away the death of job seekers in this job scam? I know your brain is on holiday, but your conscience is as the bible calls it, seared with hot iron (1 Tim 4:2)
4. That you could adduce the state of the economy to someone who is fighting corruption rather than the corrupt is not surprising. Who says we need to put people in office to know those who are corrupt?

Ok. My few cents

1. Reports like this are sponsored, stuupppid, for the immature and idiotic
2. The journo who wrote it eas not even intelligent enough to articulate logical arguments. Is hearsay from a fictituous group enough to hold up as credible evidence?
3. If the Northerners deem it fit to want to gun for the leadership of CAN, based on their vested interest, they are entitled to it. If they have enough base to rally and unified support and win, what is wrong with that.
4. Did you guys know that the Northern-block in in PFN of CAN was one of the strongest backers that brought Oritshejafor in. It was not a presidential agenda at the time?

OK. Father Kukah has said it before, the patrimony strategy of people who want to keep the average Nigeria down is still at work (make them unintelligent, throw baits of unfounded rumours and ethnic sentiments, deflect their thought and reasoning from the most important national issues and replace it with unnecessary conjectures and innuendos. Trust 9jas, the will gobble it up)

Azubike served in the interest of the state as well as in the interest of the teaming Igbos in Lagos.
So he has done well for us and less for the Yorubas whom tinubu and fashola didn't seem it fit to employ the human resources of a Yoruba.
