This is a bad precedent.
Remember the French revolution, the poor were taxed heavily while the nobles revels at the palace at varssalles until ONE DAY the people changed France forever.
Imagine increasing the cost of running the fraudulent government while the poor bear the brunt.
and the "poor" in France today are not paying tax?

All Churches, Mosques, and shrines SHOULD/MUST pay tax if Lagos is to move forward!

Let all Directors in corporate firms too pay Tax...

It's so painful that over 13,000 is being deducted from my monthly take home (PAYE and Pension) buh the said amount isn't remitted into the Govt purse my by greedy employer... Not just me but the entirety of the staff.

The Govt needs to do smthg abt all organisations within the state.
Let me address this in two folds
1. Staffs in churches in Lagos pay (PAYE) taxes, even the pastors on the pay roll
2. Churches as an entity don't yet. It's difficult and knotty issue. Compel churches to pay taxes and these churches passes the tax burden to their congregation
I think Churches should pay taxes jare! maybe it will expose their undertable dealings and force them to be truly accountable. Besides it offers avenues to trace illicit funds that get to the church under the garb of "Tithes", "Seeds" and "Donations"

The Chairman of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS), Mr Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, should tell us how much the artistes, bloggers, politicians who announce their:

- N20 million watch
- N500 million mansion
- N80 million car

are paying as TAX.

That should be his focus as a start to expanding the tax net, not so huh
How can Linda Ikeji pay N6,000 tax for four years while buying N700 million mansion?
Surely that won't happen in the UK, Canada, USA where we are all running away to born pikin and/or work under-employed as SLAVES.

https://tribuneonlineng.com/sites/default/files/styles/large/public/Linda-Ikeji-Mansion.jpg?itok=UcyRs_9D
1. Ignorance is written all over your submission.
2. The government should not be interested in "telling" you how much how the artistes, bloggers, politicians who announce their: N20 million watch, N500 million mansion, N80 million car" pay. They already have a means of collecting the LEGAL taxes from these people.
3. There's a difference between Linda Ikeji as a brand and as a person. Lagos State Internal Revenue are not stupid. Linde Ikeji's company will be taxed differently from her as a person. Linda Ikeji's Financial advisers would have advised her to pay herself a small salary and let the company should all her responsibilites. That she's done the smart thing unfortunately there's nothing anybody can do, provided she's within the ambit of the law

Gov Ayade To Exempt Low Income Earners From Tax Payment

Agency Report
— Aug 19, 2015 8:53 pm | Leave a comment

Gov. Ben Ayade of Cross River says he will sponsor an executive bill at the state House of Assembly to exempt low income earners and those at the minimum wage range from paying taxes.

Ayade announced this on Wednesday in Calabar during an interactive forum with newsmen.

He said that the bill was necessitated by the desire to address the plight of low income earners.

“A bill to exempt low income earners and those in the minimum wage level from paying tax will be sent to the state assembly today (Wednesday).

“We are doing this to ameliorate their plight because they have other financial obligations to attend to, and their income is very meagre.

“When you task a market woman who sells onions and tomatoes to pay tax, you are definitely taking away her profit and reducing the standard of her meagre business,’’ he said.

According to him, the bill will provide a social safety net to low income earners and raise their living standard.

He said that he would continue to fashion out ways of giving the core poor a sense of belonging.

“The tax exemption bill is meant to exempt the low income earners like `Okada’ riders, traders, barbers and other petty traders,” he explained.

The governor assured civil servants in the state of their welfare and prompt payment of salaries. (NAN)

My take is that it is foolish for Ayade to seek to exempt citizens from paying tax. The fundamental premise is that taxes are civic responsibilities of EVERY citizen. Each person pays a fraction of his/her established income

The Olubadan designate, High Chief Saliu Adetunji, has released his title for the throne.
He is to be referred to as Aje Ogungunniso 1.
The Olubadan-in-the waiting released the title on Wednesday and it now appears on the paraphernalia of office and items to be used for the coronation ceremony on Friday.
The title is believed to have emerged from his company’s name – Omo Aje Sound Studio, which he established in 1955.
The new monarch is a household name in music production and marketing.
He abandoned tailoring for music marketing several years ago.
On his record label are famous singers such as King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall (KWAM 1), Chief Ebenezer Obey Fabiyi, Alhaji Dauda Epo Akara and Sule Alao (Malaika).

The keyword here is "uncertainty" which kills the market. The effects of Buhari's docility breed uncertainty and this is the summary of what I inferred, same with what the Senior Advocate is alluding to.

I still wonder what's the nexus between an ex-NSA facing allegation for monumental fraud and body language of investors. You mean that Nigeria is prosecuting those alleged to have defrauded the government is causing uncertainty. Are you alright?

I need not wonder where your moral compass has traveled to. You're at liberty to yab Buhari anytime you wish, but if at the expense of not realising that it makes you come out dumber, the world is yours

LadyExcellency: What you quoted as conclusion should have been a universal (worldwide) effect and not specific to Nigeria and moreover, Dangote's business is not mainly on Oil and Gas hence the deviation.
Who told you other oil producing countries are not suffering it as well. Russia, Venezuela even saudi know the effects. Though some. Might not feel it as some because of their huge reserves. If we were also saving big during the oil boom, I'm sure it won't be as worse as this. But corruption no let us save. We come dey lament now.

Brazil is hosting the Olympics which is starting soon. They had to cut back on spending because of the downturn in their economy. And the country is badly hit like Nigeria as well. Let me quote the country's present situation for you.

Brazil’s inflation has jumped to its highest level since 2003, running over 10 percent according to the latest figures. The central bank hiked interest rates to 14.25 percent, the highest in nine years to combat inflation, but so far it has been unsuccessful. Meanwhile, GDP is shrinking, with an expected contraction of 2.2 percent in 2015. And the unemployment rate has hit 7.6 percent, the highest since 2010.

The citizens protested during the confederations cup. And they are also planning it now. If you need the source for quote. I'll be glad to provide it.

Dangote's issue is a different thing entirely. I have to know his worth last year and this year before I can talk about that. And i know he opened lots of factories in the country and other countries recently. That might have affected him as well.
@Omolola,

What you don't realise is that your explanation is way beyond her capacity. I mean, for someone to measure economic performance by Dasuki's detention and Dangote's "alledged" business performance.

He could've done a lot...

Destroy his armoury while retreating.. It's better destroyed than falling into the hands of the enemy..

But then Baga was supposed to be a fortress.. It was the focal point of the MNJTF which was under his command.. It's either he didn't fortify the barracks well enough or he grew complacent. Whichever way, the bucks ends at his table as far as Baga was concerned.

And I think demoting and reabsorbing him into the army is a worse punishment than outright dismissal..
1. Destroy his armory with what? The amoury that was not servicable?, the amoury that Gen Kuti's himself had written ceaseless letters that they were not servicable? the armoury that GOC testified at the court marshall that they were carcass?
2. I don't know where you got your information from and I would rather assume they are conjectures. If Baga was supposedly a fortress as you, why then was it abandoned? A fortress with unservicable weaponry?
3. Complacent you say? cheap. If someone had led UN command successfully in Liberia and Sierra Leone with medals to boot. I think a key question is that if Gen Kuti was that culpable, why is the military absorbing him back?

Let me tell you my thoughts
1. General Kuti is one of the best most experienced combatants we currently have. If anything, he is needed back in the war front. Somebody in the military has rationalised this and they are trying to find a middle ground
2. There are cases connected to this case that was hurriedly concluded before GEJ left, which ties to the state of the weaponry. If those cases are not properly answered, we are just beating about the bush

Coward is the most demeaning tag a soldier...A general of the army for that matter could carry.

Worse still from a prominent Yoruba family.

I could recall the story of Brigadier General Babafemi Ogundipe who rather than take over from Major General Ironsi, fled to England, and died soon after in England like a fowl. All for the fear of subordinates like T.Y Danjuma, Hassan Katsina, Shuwa, Murtala Muhammed and their likes from the North.

Soldiering is not a cup of tea. No matter the atmosphere of peace in your country at the time of enlisting in the force, bear in mind that it could rapidly deteriorate to a war situation. There and then, you will be frontally faced with the possibility of imminent death.

People who are thinking of using 'long leg' and/or using their prominent family names to get into NDA should ask themselves serious questions.
It is saddening that many of you that does not know zilch just talk so carelessly. You do not know anything about the military, Gen Ransome-Kuti and the NDA..

Well, ffk is a deranged halftard, a nitwitted mythomaniac with weird and ridiculous mindset, he has said utterly disgusting super preposterous things before, no doubt he's a loony, a fact well established. Ever wonder why all his children disown him?

It's understandable if ffk believe in bullshit and forward it to the press to be published in his name, what is beyond me however is why would dozens of other Nigerians here on Nairaland tow the same path?

Two things stood out to me in this article, the rest are speculations and outward bigotry and complexities.

He claimed ese oruru was held hostage for over a year in Emir Sanusi's Palace:

But a simple google search will show you the girl left bayelsa August 2015:

www.google.nl/url?q=http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/03/ese-orurus-abduction-police-wouldve-killed-the-matter-says-eses-father/&sa=U&ved=0ahUKEwjXi9eV7qHLAhWnIpoKHcvuBxgQFggHMAA&usg=AFQjCNGF1L0ZCGPy35_fOJnJ_QWLyAYNBA

What boggles me is nobody care to verify this claim, everybody went ahead super hulking on Muslims and Islam without confirming the veracity of the claim.

It doesn't end there, he claimed charity uzoechina was 13 years old and mention some fictitious and made up tales of what she went through at the hands of muslims:

That is also not true, when charity decided to revert to Islam she's 26:

www.premiumtimesng.com/news/159576-pastors-daughter-converted-islam-charity-uzoechina-set-wed.html

www.google.nl/url?q=http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/07/nobody-forced-me-into-islam-charity-uzoechina-insists/&sa=U&ved=0ahUKEwicuN6r86HLAhWBPZoKHZwKAZgQFggGMAA&usg=AFQjCNEnV2Q2tvq6_iwLExoFzNiEBK2ltA

In her words, she said she decided to be Muslim on her own accord, this claim by ffk is also taking down hook line and sinker with no attempt by any of you to check if it conforms with reality.

I am disappointed in you people, I advice you not to exhibit this behavior offline, in real life there will be consequences.

The first line of point number 4 “Truth is there is no evidence yet, that Ese was abducted” is wrong. The fact that an Adult (18 year old man) eloped or went away with a 14 year old girl without her parents’ consent is tantamount to abduction. I do not know any other name that can be given to that crime. It would have been different if he was 17.
