PoliticsSteer Clear Of Your Parents' Burial, Igbo Group Begs Kanu. by Masterclass32(op): 7:09pm On Feb 09, 2020
Barely four days to the burial of parents of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), late Eze Israel Okwu Kanu of Afaraukwu community, Umuahia, Abia Statea and his wife, late Ugoeze Sally Nmeme Okwu Kanu, an Igbo socio-cultural and political organisation, Imeobi Igbo Forum, has begged the pro Biafran leader Nnamdi Kanu to keep off the burial venue to avoid any uncertainties.

Addressing newsmen on Sunday in Onitsha, Anambra state, National chairman of the forum, Chief Mike Ikegulu-Onugha, said the absence of Kanu would not affect the burial.

He explained that it was unnecessary waiting for his return before the dead is buried.

He said: “Kanu should steer clear of the burial arena until all the issues are resolved. He should wait until the coast is clear for him to come back.

“The dead must be buried whether Nnamdi is around or not. If he comes home, it is an opportunity for those who are looking for him to get him.”

Ikegulu-Onugha however noted that he would have wished the federal government had allowed him return to witness the burial.

He added: “Left for me the government of the federation should allow him to come and bury his parents. I wish he will come and bury his parents the way I did mine.

“However, rather than come and get involved in all sorts of legalities and military things, it is better for him to keep off.

“The Federal Government should forgive a freedom fighter who is asking for a democratic/judicial means of independence. I see no harm in him, the President should pardon him to come back.”

While sympathising with Kanu’s family of over the demise of their parents, the group’s chairman urged them to take heart stating, “In all struggles, stories like this come up. These are stories that will be told better in life.”

PoliticsInsecurity: The Truth Nigerian Leaders Are Dodging Or Failing To Say. by Masterclass32(op): 9:30am On Feb 01, 2020
Onitsha, Eastern Nigeria, 31stJan 2020-The political leaders and others in Nigeria particularly the ‘creative’ or lettered public have continued to dissipate unnecessary energies on ‘populism’ and ‘frivolities’ instead of sticking to core or critical issues and treating them with creative judgments. As a matter of fact, the era of creativity and critical thinking is dangerously eluding the country. Issues of critical national importance, when arise, are no longer visited withprocess wordssuch ashow, what, why, if,etc. The culture ofcritical thinkingis speedily evaporating and disappearing from the landscape of the country.

The above was the position ofthe Int’l Society for Civil Liberties & Rule of Lawas contained in a statement issued today and signed by Emeka Umeagbalasi (Chair of the Board),Obianuju Joy Igboeli (Head of Civil Liberties & Rule of Law)and Chinwe Umeche (Head of Democracy & Good Governance).Intersociety’s statement was in reaction to worsening insecurity in Nigeria particularly the ceaseless killing of Christians and abduction of traveler Igbo citizens and others in northern part. Our reaction was particularly in response to ‘calls on President Buhari to resign and sack of service chiefs’.

If truth must be boldly told, the ceaseless killing of Christians in Nigeria and general insecurity have gone beyond “calling on Mr. President to resign or sacking of service chiefs”. From independent point of view, no fewer than 100 Christians particularly women and children (including 35 in Kaduna, 23 in Plateau and 19 in Kogi) have been hacked to death in the country in Jan 2020 alone; with dozens of Igbo travelers and others abducted for ransom or for death in northern part of the country. The perpetrated or dastardly acts are repeatedly traced to the doorsteps of the trio of Boko Haram, Jihadist Fulani Herdsmen and ‘eco-religious terror’ group known as “Islamic Bandits”; with the grossly lopsided security forces doing little or nothing to fish them out and ensure they face justice.

Therefore,Intersocietysees the calls are part of ‘populism’ or half-baked intellectual culture bedeviling Nigeria and its current national calamitous insecurity. This is more so when such half-baked calls are coming from the people in the country’s corridors of power who also know the ‘A-Z’ of the root causes of the country’s insecurity challenges, in addition to enormous legislative and oversight powers in their hands including power and right to speak out ‘the dodged truth’

The Truth Being Dodged Or Hidden By Nigerian Leaders

Composition of the Present Federal Government:the present central Government is nothing short of ‘a jihadist government of the day’ with no semblance of pluralism or balanced ethno-religious composition

Lopsided Composition of Service Chiefs, Armed Forces, Police and Paramilitaries: they are Islamic dominated and anti secular; thereby threatening and endangering the short-changed regions particularly the old Eastern Nigeria and Northern Christian Nationalities.

Defective & Manipulative Constitution:the 1999 Constitution is inherently defective with no inputs from the country’s ethnic nationalities particularly the South and the Northern Christian entities. It also has little or no inbuilt protection or safeguards for collective security and safety of the existing ethno-religious nationalities particularly the Peoples of old Eastern Nigeria and Northern Christian Nationalities.

Abuse of the Constitution & Anti Secular Conducts:these are done with reckless abandon by the present federal political leaders which include gross misinterpretations, misapplications, manipulations, violations and abuses, etc. Anti secular conducts include turning the country, by policy and conduct, into ‘an Islamic Republic governed by Sharia Laws’ in place of secular Constitution and doctrine.

Propaganda & Lies:these have remained the salutations, greetings and foundation of the present central Government

Hate Policies & Conducts: these are the second foundation upon which the present central Government seemed formed or founded.

Jihadist Insurgencies under State Protection: Circumstantially and by body language, these have been the case.

Islamic Friendly & Lopsided Security Establishments Can’t Fight Their Non State Actor ‘Comrades’:There shall always be ‘comradeship’ or ‘esprit de corps’ in the so called ‘counter-insurgency operations against Boko Haram/ISWAP insurgency and Fulani Herdsmen Jihadism as well as the ‘eco-religious’ terrorism by the so called ‘Islamic Bandits of Northern Nigeria’. These shall continue so long as the country’s security forces and superintendence remain lopsidedly composed or Islamic friendly.

Granted that insurgency is one of the most difficult in modern warfare, but had the country’s security forces been pluralistically and secularly composed and superintended; with effective intelligence and without present state Islamic friendly politicization, the insurgent groups named would have been tamed when still at rag tag stages or before reaching sophistication-and continuously be checkmated till date.

Non De-classification of Mr. President’s Health Status/Fitness:a formerSGFunder the present central Government (Babachir David Lawal) had in 2017 during a rift asked: “who is the Presidency?”Though the question has remained unanswered by the ‘Presidency’, but it is a quick reminder to the fact that the true health status of Mr. President, both physical and mental, has remained worryingly classified; thereby raising another critical question as per ‘who is truly in charge of Nigeria-Mr. President or a Cabal?

We are deeply worried because Nigerians especially the lettered or informed are losing it; to the extent that some are either confused or have resolved not to address their letters or make representations to their ‘beloved President’, to avoid same not being received and treated well or getting into the hands of ‘a cabal’. This has further made a cross section of the lettered to keep wondering how on earth Mr. President could retain failed Service Chiefs including a failed Chief of Army Staff for almost five years, if not eight years in the end and corner over 90% appointments in security, oil and economic establishments to citizens of his own tribe and religion

The above is just to mention but a few key of litany of truth being dodged or failed to say by the Nigerian leaders. For us atIntersociety, the present central Government is steadily pushing Nigeria and Nigerians to the nadir of collapse or irreversibility. The Government is also pushing the country to the point ofcitizen radicalism. The country must not waste its slim chance of being returned to the path of pluralistic and constructive governance in togetherness or peaceful apart.

The Government’s hate and radical policies and conducts are already encouraging the proliferation of small arms and light weapons across the length and breadth of the country. Also with rising regional quests for regional defensive security arrangements and the present central Government’s recent waiver granted to the aliens-both the good, the bad and the ugly; the proliferation, both licit and illicit and prohibited and un-prohibited SALWs, is expected to rise exponentially. Totality of these is a time bomb for a poorly governed and highly divided country of approximately 2003m people.

Rather innocent people are arrested and accused of hate speech when they demand the prosecution of the terrorists.

PoliticsYou Can't Have Biafra And Presidency At The Same Time, ACF Spokesman Tells Igbo. by Masterclass32(op): 10:38am On Jan 11, 2020
Anthony Sani, secretary-general of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), says the Igbo community cannot pursue their agitation for Biafra and presidency at the same time.

Sani said this while reacting to an articleon the advice of Isa Funtua, an associate of President Muhammadu Buhari, gave to the south-east on its aspiration for the number one seat in the land.

Funtua had asked the Igbo to review their ways of playing politics in order to get the presidency. This had generated different reactions.

But Sani said Nigerians would be too scared to entrust the Igbo with the presidency in 2023 if “they are seen to also be agitating for secession from the federation”.

He described the Igbo as suffering from “superiority and inferiority complexes”, accusing them of playing both victim and also having a sense of entitlement.

“When I read a letter by one Frederick Nwabufo on page 18 of The Nation newspaper under the caption “Isa Funtua, Igbo and 2023 presidency” in which the author berated Isa Funtua of being an arrogant man who suffers from a sense of entitlement, I wonder the wisdom,” Sani said.

“As far as I am concerned, it is Igbo who is obsessed with a sense of entitlement by their insistence that it is their turn to produce the president in a country which boasts of over 250 ethnic nationalities. Igbos suffer from both superiority and inferiority complexes.

“At one point, they tout their superiority by claiming to be over and above any other nationality in Nigeria because they are better at the use of their superior commercial acumen for trade.

“At another, they play the victim by crying of marginalization the most. Power in a multi-party democracy is never secured through threats and intimidation, nor is it obtained by jeremiads out of pity.

“This is because democracy is a contest of ideas and reason and is never a bullfight.

“Igbos cannot agitate for separation and hanker for president by still expecting the country would not be scared of voting them for the presidency.

“Igbos may wish to recall that Senator McCain lost the elections because he had [Mrs Palin] who was governor of the state of Alaska. This was also because her husband was accused of attending a meeting of separatists who wish the state of Alaska to leave [the] USA and join Russia.

“I do not see how somebody from Scotland, Catalan, Quebec, Aceh or Xinjiang could dream of being voted president of their countries. Reason: Such a person would most likely play Gorbachev.

“So when Isa Funtua says Igbo should belong, he meant “belong to where the majority [is]”. That is to say, Igbo must develop their winning game plan by reaching out to build bridges and break barriers.

“The North does not comprise the caliphate alone but is very diverse. In fact, the caliphate today is not ruled by the ruling party.”

RomanceRe: Did I Push Him Away With My Attitude? by Masterclass32: 2:18pm On Jan 10, 2020
geraldinai:
Nairalanders, this is a long post but please read till the end.

My bf just broke up with me over what he termed incompatibility. This guy and I have been together for two years and we both loved each other. It was a long-distance relationship, he stays in Lagos while I schooled in another town in the west. I had no problem with the distance because I'm not the attention-craving type and I like my space.

He's a complete extrovert, while I'm an introvert(not to the extreme though) and this has been an issue most of the time. He complains that I'm too quiet and not on the same social level as him. I don't do social media like that while he's uploading new pictures every minute. I also didn't like the fact that he relates too well with girls; he had a lot of female friends and easily socializes with new ones. Well, I blended with that so well as I didn't see any trace of unfaithfulness in him.

Fast forward to late last year, there was a breakdown in our communication, he stopped calling and chatting as he used to, I asked him what the matter was but he said there's nothing. I was a bit scared if something went wrong with him and I asked again after some days, that was when he said he would tell me when the time comes, so I stopped asking. With all the signs he showed me, my mind was telling me he wanted a breakup but I didn't ask him further as I was preparing for my final exam and him breaking up with me that period would leave me devastated so I focused on my exam with the hope that after then, we would talk about it.

After my exam, I sent him a text apologizing and asked us to continue as we were but he didn't reply. He invited me over to his place and that was when he told me he's no longer interested in the relationship, that he has no feelings for me again. He gave one thousand and one reasons for us not to be together anymore. He said I'm less expressive, I agree with anything he says and does and that during the break in our communication, I didn't make efforts to find out why he did so and challenge him. Funnily enough, I didn't react when he told me, I just said it's all right as I envisaged it earlier. With the reasons he gave me, my heart was broken and felt there was no need to push further. He was surprised with how calm I was when he told me, personally, I don't believe in forcing someone to love me.

I moved on well but after a week when I was alone and reflecting, the feeling of guilt overwhelmed me that I probably pushed him away with my seemingly “not too caring” attitude. I see myself with him and I never thought we could separate. I showed love and care in my how way and in the best way, I know-how. I did love him wholeheartedly and he knew it but he seemed unable to cope with my private/ less emotional lifestyle.
Nairalanders, did I actually push him away?
I don't think you pushed him away. He just didn't get you. And its no fault of yours. You are who you are. Don't try to change urself. Someone that appreciates and values you for who you are will come along. Staying with your ex would've put u under constant stress trying to be what you're not.

Politics2023 Presidency: Call Yerima To Order, Igbo Group Tells ACF. by Masterclass32(op): 9:59pm On Dec 29, 2019
A pro-Ndigbo group, Igbo National Council (INC), has called on the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) to call to order, the leader of the Arewa Youth Forum (ACF) Yerima Shettima over his recent inciting comments on the 2023 presidency.

The group frowned at what it called inciting video and press statement credited to him, wherein he said 2023 “is not right time for Igbo person to be president of Nigeria.

A statement issued in Owerri by the president of the INC, Chilos Godsent, said that Yerima’s statements were not only inciting, but deceitful and misleading.

The INC statement reads in part, “Yerima Shettima is the purported leader of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum that some years ago issued quit order to the Igbo people living in the Northern States of Nigeria.

“The same Yerima has in recent time been misinforming ignorant Nigerians that the North has made more sacrifices than any other tribe in building Nigeria.

“We wish to use this opportunity to set the record straight and properly educate Yerima Shettima and his co-travellers on the wrong part of history, that since the creation of Nigeria, no tribe, race or group has made more sacrifices in building Nigeria than the Igbo race.

The Igbo race has invested unquantifiable human and material resources to keep Nigeria alive since its creation even to an extend we lost millions of lives during the genocide of 1966, and till date our mineral resources are being plundered and used to fund the North.

“Consequently, in the spirit of reconciliation, fairness, justice and equity, the only geopolitical zone more ripe to produce the President of Nigeria is 2023 is the South-East zone.

“We urge Nigerians to ignore the false and misleading video and publications of Yerima Shettima regarding the 2023 Nigeria presidential seat.

“Finally, we therefore call on the leadership of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and other Northern political leaders to immediately call Yerima Shettima and his co-travellers to order before they throw the country into destructive political crisis ahead of 2023 Nigeria Presidential election”.

PoliticsOhanaeze Hints On Impeaching Buhari Over Presidency’s Cabal Claim. by Masterclass32(op): 8:15pm On Dec 27, 2019
The apex Igbo Socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has condemned remarks credited to President Muhammadu Buhari’s spokesperson, Garba Shehu admitting that there are cabals in the Presidency.

Ohanaeze said such claims from the Presidency was enough to impeach the President.

Shehu had maintained that the cabal in the Presidency are respectable Nigerianswho have achieved a lot.

He had revealed this while dismissing claims that Buhari was being manipulated by a group of individuals who have formed a cabal.

However, Publicity Secretary, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Chief Uche Achi-Ogbaga in a chat with Vanguard described Shehu’s comment as unfortunate.

He said: “You see, when you do the right thing in a wrong way, it becomes wrong. The issue is not about being hungry or well-fed. It is about the integrity of the government, it is about conventionality, law and civility. The taxpayers’ money is used to pay the retinue of ministers, presidential advisers, assistants and other aides.

“They are the official government decision policy or decision-makers. Yet, you abandon them to depend or take instructions from an underhand body called the cabal. It is unfortunate that Garba Shehu, whose utterances are presumed as that of the President, could say that blatantly.

“From the American experience, it is enough to impeach the President if it is established, as in the present case, that it came from the presidency.

“It is absurd to jettison the Federal Executive Council and other lawful bodies to take orders from an ethnic and prejudice-infested cabal. It smells to high heaven.”

RomanceRe: I Easily Lose Interest In Guys, Will I Regret This? by Masterclass32: 11:20am On Dec 26, 2019
Michellekabod2:
I am not going to create another moniker for this,i owe no one nothing!

I have spent most of my life single. I tried linking up with people but to no avail. Why? I will not do the blame game here. Is all my fault. I meet someone, get heed over heels for the person but I lose interest easily. When it comes to commitment, when the friendship is to get to the next level I ghost them. I don't know why. At best out of the blue I lose interest and become blank, not returning calls or replying messages, at worst I become disgusted at the fellow for no reason at all then move one to the next male friend. Nothing serious comes out of it...

So I decided to give up trying. My female friends and I go on an outing, some guys approach us and get our numbers. Months (sometimes years) later they are still waxing strong with the males, one of them even got married to one of them. But me? After a couple of weeks I find myself having to ghost the guy that I was head over heels for.

I gave up on love and chose to be single. I have been single for years now.

I met this guy march this year,we bonded like never before. I have never in my entire life felt like this before. It is so strange that each conversation we have all seems anew like we are starting all over.

It's almost ten months and the fire is still intense.
I have never had such a long friendship with a male. People assume we are dating. He gives me so much JOY... He is so awesome, different from all the others i have known. He changed me.

I just figured out i want to end the friendship, I don't know why. I am tired. I want to walk away. The passion is still there but i want to be away. I wanted to get a new SIM but my conscience will not. What has kept me from doing this is because i wonder how he will feel..

I want to walk away. Will i regret this?
will u regret this? Nobody can be sure. But with this attitude u will find it difficult to get married or stay married - that's if marriage is your thing.
