Unsavory details have continue to unfold following the raid by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on the Epe and Ikoyi, Lagos homes of former Laģos Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Tuesday morning. The anti-graft agency’s operatives had stormed the Epe country home of Ambode but were prevented from gaining entry by a horde of youth. In a statement by his media aide, Habib Aruna, the former governor, who is out of the country, said that the EFCC operatives’ visit to his houses was without any prior notice. According to the statement, “These searches were carried out extensively and the operatives left without any incident. The former governor reiterates that the EFCC has till date not had any direct communication with him on any subject matter whatsoever and if or when it occurs, he is ready and willing to respond.” Reacting, Tony Orilade, spokesman of the EFCC, said the search on the house was not a raid, but part of an ongoing investigation which is “in line with (the EFCC’s) mandate and the rule of law.” Orilade further said, “We need to state for the records that the EFCC did not raid Ambode’s house. It is instructive that his administration, like other former governors, is under investigation since they no longer constitutionally enjoy immunity against prosecution.” As a tradition, the commission, Orilade stated, does not carry out an investigation on the pages of the newspapers or through the media; “Our operations are always covert until at a time when we file charges in court. Therefore, the attempt to cast the commission in a bad light is unacceptable as the EFCC will never engage in an illegal act. We remain committed to the war against corruption.” However, EFCC sources have claimed that Ambode has come under the scrutiny of the anti-graft agency for alleged financial malfeasances during his tenure as governor of Lagos State between 2015 and 2019. Apart from the multi-billion dollar Visionscape deal which many described as greatest injustice to the Lagos economy, there are allegations that the former governor awarded some contracts that did not go through due process thus the investigation by the anti-graft agency. EFCC sources alleged that a year into Ambode’s administration, a particular company, Craneburg Construction, established in 2016, and purportedly owned by Ambode’s bosom friend, Herbert Wigwe, the GMD/CEO, Access Bank Plc, without previous construction experience, reportedly awarded a $300million deal for road projects around select areas of the state particularly the former Governor’s Epe constituency. A source within the EFCC said Ambode, who has decided to stay put in London since his exit as Lagos governor in May, is being investigated over this contract deal. While the investigation on this continues, the source said the former governor is also being investigated for his dealings with the bank over his four-year administration............https://www.thegeniusmedia.com.ng/2019/09/05/busted-why-efcc-is-after-ambode-herbert-wigwe-connection/ hisexcellency34: |
So Herbert and Chizoba are brothers....One was the former Chairman of our Stock Exchange and the other one Head of Access Holdings...both of them in Finance in Nigeria...Oga o...Losing 2 children and 1 grandchild in 1 day. May God help us all. hisexcellency34: |
Everyone will have a unique experience every 20 years. This is your own. Do more asking, listening and understanding. You might be able to decide with a clear understanding. Why did she pick you? What does she want from you? Is she destined to live long or for a while? What does she see the relationship? You are not perfect...what if you cant meet up to her wishes? What about her parents? and when did she know who she was? Ask more...listen, and understand. Maks27: |
The news was on CNN...have you been to a game in the USA? Nope...so you have no clue. You do not need to be a huge celebrity to be celebrated. If they are informed for sure that they are headed to the Super Bowl, they may honor them by showing their pictures or a minute silence. Please, do not assume what you do not know. Thank YOU...he is the CEO of a Major Bank in Nigeria. Wotowotoman: |
Before or after the crash? Who knows they might honor them and Suites can take close to 10 or more so others might still use their suite ...who knows...life ..vanity Ishilove: |
Think of WorldCup for Americans lol...buying adverts ain't for small businesses lol Ishilove: |
Best school in the World...We count Obafemi Awolowo and Tai Solarin as alumni...who can beat that Lol tdayof: |
They were going to the SuperBowl...its for the Elite of Elites...they were probably invited or bought tickets for the suite at ridiculous prices if they are going as a group...sadly they wont even get a chance to see the game. I know someone who told me all teams get tickets for SuperBowl and bring in their clients and guests...this is how some cultivate relationships...not like us on NairaLand lol. Remind me of Kobe Bryant taking helicopter to daughter's game...when you have too much money, you do things regular people cant understand. Let your light shine and help humanity...for all is vanity, vanity upon vanity...such is life. Ishilove: |
We have too many associations in Nigeria. Imagine these imposing shutdowns...what if their fellow sellers have clients and they can make money nko. In sane countries, you live up to your potential and sink if you can't...its Darwian theory...all these we die together is why we have not progressed much...let the weak go. Ntigha: |
By creating free float and making Transfer Companies pay in Naira...it all makes sense...so the companies would want to keep doing business sending dollars for Nigerians. It seems like it must have been an agreement made with the Transfer companies like Western Unions, and MoneyGram...because without removing the caps...people will switch transfer companies and keep buying and selling via BDCs...so this makes sense. nlfpmod: |
I know some Nigerians working virtually will hate this policy...but you will never find a sane country that allows you to keep accounts in foreign currencies, and pay you in foreign currencies. If you send Western Union to the USA, you get paid in dollars...same in the UK. Why would all these money transfers pay in dollars? This has made the speculations and BDCs a lucrative business...I am guilty of sending to Mallam that collect in dollars and resell too at high prices driving up the exchange. This is a good policy in my opinion...feel free to share your thoughts without insults. Show maturity!!! MasterTeeUSA: |
Published 5 hours ago on 9 February 2024 By Oladipo Abiola International Money Transfer Operators (IMTOs), will now pay Nigerian beneficiaries in Naira instead of Dollars and other foreign currencies as the case was previously. Based on the new regulation, banks will pay Nigerian beneficiaries in Naira, not dollars, Pounds, Euros or others, for international money transfers received through IMTOs. Naija News reports the new rule, which is based on the directive from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), affects IMTOs such as Western Union, MoneyGram, Rapid transfer, Ria, and others. According to a recent notice from Ecobank Nigeria, the CBN directive dated January 31, 2024, stipulates that all in-bound money transfers to Nigeria (via the above-mentioned IMTOS) will be paid only in Naira through a bank account or in cash at the prevailing rate in the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market. The Ecobank notice reads: “We would like to bring to your attention recent regulatory changes affecting international money transfers into Nigeria through Western Union, MoneyGram, Rapidtransfer, Ria, and other CBN-approved IMTOS. “The Circular issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) dated January 31, 2024, stipulates that ALL in-bound money transfers to Nigeria (via the above mentioned IMTOS) will be paid ONLY in Naira through a bank account or in cash at the prevailing rate in the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market.” This platform understands the move is part of efforts by the CBN to stem the unfavourable exchange rate between the Dollars and Naira. https://www./2024/02/09/western-union-moneygram-others-to-pay-nigerians-in-naira-instead-of-dollars/

The inferiority complex issue is real...and we don't even understand that we have it. Even if our own people is making a superior argument, we will rubbish it. Here, you will see people insulting one another ...but put them in a room with white folks, they can't open their mouths to argue not to talk of insult...may God help our people. This is why we have failed to progress...put Nigerians in one room, and they cant agree on the way forward...and they will rather rubbish the one that makes the most sense that he thinks he is too intelligent than the rest of us. Someone once told me...if you want your foundation to get noticed in Nigeria, put a white person in it or bring the person to Nigeria. That is how sad we have become my brother. studyless123: |
I am not even sure why we are arresting them....most of these people have killed people. Justice is an eye for an eye. Gistblog9ja: |

So your stat is better than those that compare number of health practitioners to the population or per thousands of people. Getting them gainful employed should not be the responsibility of the Govt alone. I actually think the Govt should minimize its print in healthcare and privatize different sections of public hospitals, subsidize the poor so they can afford insurance, and support private expansion of the health care industries. That will also reduce the healthcare's exposure to strikes and wage issues. Regulations though is important to guide against abuse of health care workers and small unions should be allowed to negotiate wages and salaries commensurate with experience. Lifebender: |
Lol...ignorance is a disease. Of course it wont make any sense. Not everyone can comprehend. THUNDER4real: |
I still don't know why we don't have an ejectable parachute in planes and helicopters that can be deployed before crash. For US Marines trained for many many years, this is devastating. WriterNig: |
Lol we already know those without a brain. You can make your point without speaking from your ass. Residency is 3 - 5 yrs...Before you can even get employed as a Nurse in sane countries, you might need to have some experiences at the CNA, LPN level and you will also do clinicals. We know some of you with local contents and local brains...I don't plan to exchange insult with you. THUNDER4real: |
One does not affect the other...we can discuss improving internship so it wont be bone breaking...we definitely need more health workers but you cant have a country without needed healthcare workers. That is putting more extreme pressures on the workers in the country too...creating more bone breaking problems. Its 2 years not 5 years or 10 years. How many years is medical school in the US...4yrs and you start working in the clinic by Year 3...then residency 3 - 5 yrs...on top the education is not subsidized. Lifebender: |
No country trains its workers and allow them to japa without serving...even in Israel you need to serve in the military. Putting conditions for people to show their skills and their competence before japaing...helps everyone including those they will be treating abroad. Imagine, you are in UK and someone from Nigeria that has never practiced Nursing is treating you after license verification with zero experience. My only ask is that ...it should be easy for people to train in hospitals without knowing people, and they should be able to serve without difficulties for those 2 years. Lifebender: |
You are teaching an educator active listening, verbal and non-verbal cues lol. Anyways, listen and shake your head and don't inform, educate and enlighten your clients about differences not being deficient. It is up to you. I know we can be difficult...if I was a white man now, you would listen and understand my point as well Lol. Bankowner: |
May we not be born into a useless family...AMEN moonbyte25: |
Really? Is this what they need to be doing right now? I am lost for words. chisomkachy: |
Are you claiming you didn't listen prior? You said they did not appreciate you using it's okay. See if you want to shake your head like our folks do to the white people...go ahead. Just don't justify you conforming to the dominant culture when clearly you have an opportunity to explain. Who is telling you not to listen? I have come to realize you are respected more when you can educate and inform...them of where you come from...not just for you, but for the next guy or girl coming on board. I have never seen white people challenged on their poor English lol. Dey Play and continue convincing yourself Bankowner: |
That was under Buhari by the way/// The idea of adding values started then but most Nigerians had no clue...Look it all up. https://restofworld.org/2023/nigeria-lithium-processing-ev/ matify83: |
My Man...just for this.. I have followed you. Both of my children have Nigerian Names...like why would I need to adapt to you? The clothes I wear to work is what I will wear in Nigeria...even when my students had their Senior Party, I went in my Agbada...that is not to say we should not adapt, but we must not lose ourselves in the process. My students ask about Nigeria every time, because they know I travel to my beloved country...I have done my best to break so many stereotype. That is what we should do...enlighten, inform and educate cos really, they can be ignorant. studyless123: |
Wrong...TESLA wanted to import our Lithium without building a plant..Chinese agreed to build a plant and they are also building Lithium Battery Plants and Lithium Solar...so yes they will benefit but they are not stealing..they are adding value to it. Would you have invested in it? Should Govt start doing all these? matify83: |
We cant be timid o...I remember seeing all our Nigerian folks naming their children American names...cos Americans cant pronounce Nigerian names. I was livid. Do they change their own names for us, no? I named my daughter my Yoruba name...she wanted to use middle name to help the teachers cos it is in English...I told her...teach them how to pronounce your name...that is your official name. Now, everyone calls her by her name .... OLUWATOSIN. You cannot conform...everyone must meet in the middle. I learn your culture, you learn mine. When we remain timid, we set a precedent for future generations. We can correct without being disrespectful. studyless123: |
