Politics › Re: Lawma Fabricates Waste Bins For Ekiti State by MasterTeeUSA: 5:31pm On Jan 16, 2024
My proposal for SW is Lagos investing in its neighboring states...this is a good start. They need to encourage recycling as well...Lagos should pay Oyo State and Ogun State to recycle their products...there is a lot of potential here. The trains can be used for waste disposal and recycling of products...this lady recycling tires into rubber tiles should be supported...we can even mandate such in our schools...let us think big and create jobs jobs jobs.

adesegun121:
… Extends Partnership Offer to Other States at Affordable Rates

The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has begun fabricating waste bins for Ekiti State in a partnership aimed at tackling a myriad of waste management and environmental challenges.

Managing Director/CEO of LAWMA, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, who disclosed this in his office on Tuesday, noted that LAWMA remained committed to ensuring proper waste management practices, within and outside the State, adding that Lagos State was willing to support and partner with other States in all areas of waste management.

He said, "I am happy to announce the partnership between LAWMA and Ekiti State Government, which will see us fabricate their waste bins at a reasonable cost. By fabricating waste bins in-house, we gain greater control over quality, production speed, and ultimately, cost-effectiveness”.

“This allows us to not only ensure a steady supply of bins for Lagos, but also help us to extend our support to other states like Ekiti, which is currently a prime beneficiary of this initiative. LAWMA has assisted some other States before now and we are willing to do more".

Gbadegesin averred that the partnership with Ekiti State shows LAWMA's proactive approach to environmental issues, adding that the Ekiti project would serve as a pilot programme, paving the way for similar partnerships with other states.

"We believe that effective waste management is not just a Lagos issue, but a national concern. LAWMA's door is open to any state seeking our assistance. We are offering our expertise to provide technical support, training and even manpower, to help other states develop and implement efficient waste management systems", he said.

The LAWMA boss noted that the Authority’s Engineering Department, known for its ingenuity and resourcefulness, has developed a robust and efficient waste bin fabrication process, adding that the department utilised locally sourced materials to produce durable bins, for diverse waste management needs.

“LAWMA's in-house bin fabrication initiative offers several advantages beyond cost-effectiveness and quality control. It fosters skill development and job creation within the agency, promotes local content utilisation, and reduces reliance on imports. Hence, other states who are interested can get the bins at affordable rates”, he stated.

Properties › Re: House Rent In This Country Is Nothing To Write About by MasterTeeUSA: 5:28pm On Jan 16, 2024
Room and Parlor is about N350k to N500k in some parts of Ibadan. Be playing....

Materials are up and up...everyone blames forex, but it is all good. Landlords need to maintain, recoup the investment, and also pay for the same high prices of goods, foodstuff, PMS, and so on...so it makes sense to increase. Supply is down because fewer people are building houses to rent...most new builders now are either selling, doing AirBnB, or for personal use. Bad tenants are not helping matters as well.

I am glad to have good tenants, and so I won't be increasing rents till next year.

Room and Parlor - N200k becomes N250k, N250K becomes N300k plus service fees.
2 Bedroom Flats - N500k/N550k becomes N550k/N600k plus service fees

My advice to tenants...you do not have to rent alone...You can rent Two Bedroom for N550k and share with someone...you can do the same for 3 bedrooms..rent for N700k and split the rent 3 ways...that is how it is done in sane countries...where 6 people live in the same house and share kitchen and restroom...you won't even share restrooms in Nigeria. This is the reality we are headed to. The days of renting and bringing in everyone from the village is almost over...maybe people will have less children now given this reality. My take

Nazgul:
170-300k for 2 bedroom flat in Nigeria?

Wake up bro, we're 2024 not 2014.

You won't even see a standard 2bedroom flat for 300k in Abakaliki sef.

Agriculture › Re: Nigeria Approves Commercial Release Of GM Maize Varieties by MasterTeeUSA: 10:52pm On Jan 12, 2024
You are assuming in ideal situation...some areas have droughts, soil pollution, inadequate access and so on....like Lagos...it can't produce enough food to sustain the population hence everything is more expensive because of the population size and transportation...some countries can't feed themselves and organic farming can't produce enough to feed the world.

Tohsynetita1:
I still don't believe scarcity of Foods. Have you gone to a place to demand for food and you don't get due to Scarcity? And if their is scarcity, since the scarcity was caused by population, why can't government increase population of production and mandate everyone to farm? Most especially if you aren't employed.
Farming is very easy to practice alongside any job you are doing, most especially if you use machine. You don't need the whole of a day to plough anf plant an acre even if it's only you. With crazy machines existing now. If everyone has at least an acre, all this story will be avoided.
Agriculture › Re: Nigeria Approves Commercial Release Of GM Maize Varieties by MasterTeeUSA: 9:12pm On Jan 12, 2024
Good enough for people to eat and survive on...the life expectancy is still high in sane countries with high GMO...same cannot be said about Nigeria or African countries with low GMO penetration.

BondRiv:
That's not the point.

GMOs are not good for human consumption.
Agriculture › Re: Nigeria Approves Commercial Release Of GM Maize Varieties by MasterTeeUSA: 9:11pm On Jan 12, 2024
Population ...Demand and Supply...Without GMO, Organic will be more expensive. In Economics Class, substitutes drive down demand and price not the other way around.

Tohsynetita1:
The reason for organic being expensive is because of another option. If GMO isn't introduced, organic will be cheap. No be that organic we they eat before GMO came.
Agriculture › Re: Nigeria Approves Commercial Release Of GM Maize Varieties by MasterTeeUSA: 8:17pm On Jan 12, 2024
The sane countries you want to japa to...they all survive on Genetically Modified Foods...Organic are so so expensive

Dpharisee:
Na all these Genetically Modified food dey follow cause increase in strange ailments like cancer.
Even many countries don't encourage GM products, we didn't have prevalence of cancers when we ate basic organic foods, it was sickness for rich people who thought that eating cornbeef instead of native chicken was a status symbol.

They need a formidable media station where all the APC legislators can go to and speak to their folks from Abuja...Instead of going to Channels TV or Arise TV...their studio reporters can come to the Media house to interview APC legislators. Great story....like Ogunde used to sing...One's suffering cannot last for 20yrs...its like every 20yrs....there is bound to be a breakthrough, and those having success should also prepare for downturns within 2 decades by saving for that...like Joseph and Egypt. Don't eat with all fingers. Prepare for change because change will come.

Nice2023:
Life is like a seed when we water it very well.

Just like the story goes...I have personally sold soap and dried fish in Lagos state,in fact things were very bad for my parents in those days and I could also remember when my father was buoyant and financially capable. I sold fish at cele market called Odi eron and also sold dried fish around isolo area before God helped my parents to see me through my University education.

Today,I have ended their sufferings and subsequently brighten their face with the little I could offer and they are more than glad to move to into a new home for their retirements.

Finally,I want to urge u out there that is suffering today, that with determination and perseverance u can make it and turn the story of ur family around for the better. Just have that faith and see things turn around for good.

Good luck and make it a duty to make it and do not allow any distraction.
