I think the investment in infrastructure by the state is not a waste of funds. Most of these governors have their strong points, and so far, no one has effectively delivered in every sector. In one way or another, all politicians are thieves also, so we should not castigate Akpabio too much. I can only say that his investment on roads may not carry much effect, as surrounding Rivers and Abia state don't share that luxury. I mean why spend two to three hours in PH hold up to save few minutes as you drive through Uyo? Who has it profited? |
ollah1: The best feature of the iPhone6 is that if you hold it upside down it becomes iPhone 9someone finally gets it right! I think that pretty much sums up all our expectations from Apple. I was enthusiastically scrolling down the article to see the 'wow' features, but to my utter disappointment, not really much. Just a bunch of new hardware features that might just be unnecessary for the average users. parrticularly, I expected Apple to have perfected the holographic technology used in Star Wars for Christ's sake. Guess Samsung was being prophetic when they used "The next big thing is already here" as a catchword in one of their Galaxy adverts, Lol. |
I'm just so sad and disappointed that a man I deeply respect has gotten himself into a gnarly mess that he isn't even making efforts to come out from. Pastor Chis sir, are you saying that a woman you wrote The Rapsody of Realities with, whom you proclaimed as your loving wife is of God? Why didn't you unmask that a long time ago before you made the commitment? I refuse to be your judge anyway. No matter how hard you try to justify this one, it's not going to work. Jesus, Paul, David, Abraham, Joseph or any other Bible hero didn't get into a divorce case. Perhaps, you don't know the seriousness of a Christian leader's divorce in Nigeria, well except if you're Chris Okotie. That being said, there will be enough cases in heaven, as the Yoruba's always say. |
they always say every problem is a disguised opportunity. Imagine if you found that out by yourself, installed it sucessfully, if other Nissan brand users won't come putting their monies in your pocket for such a task. |
dear Op, I think your post suggests that you're just understanding what it means when the Bible says the race is not to the swift... Well, you need to encourage yourself further and get up and fight. Just because you had a first class doesn't mean the employer is going to come knock your door, invite you in a limousine and roll a red carpet out for your arrival. That being said, it's still cool to make a first class anyway, because if you're building a defeatist mentality this early, how do you want to encourage those coming behind you to strive for excellence? |
Sagamite: You are a cretinous person!I see that you're beyond redemption and you have my sincere pity! This would be my last interaction with you. |
Sagamite: You are a moronic cretinous person!at least we know whose post they 'liked'. Why are you so full of hate for your fatherland? I am sure it is people like you that causes problems for the rest of us. if you don't feel proud being a Nigerian, go ahead and seek asylum in Bosnia or somewhere! |
I was almost shedding tears when I saw the advert by some African leaders and Obama, highlighting the strong points of Nigeria. One particularly touching was the instance one of the leaders actually said "Nigeria is the hope of Africa". The advert is regularly shown on NTA. It would seem as if many of us don't know our worth and the influence that comes with being Africa's most populous nation as well as its largest economy. By the time we all fully jolted into consciousness, foreigners would have bought up all our opportunities. If you don't think Nigeria has something to be proud of, well, I do, as well as Chineese and American enterpreneurs! |
to those of you sharing your defeatist attitude you had about the NYSC scheme, I honestly think you should cut the rest of us a slack. I am currently a serving Copper on camp in Akwa Ibom state, and from all I could gather about the experience sofar, it is a wonderful platform I think every Nigerian graduate should partake of. The soldiers here are friendly, the food is manageable and the leadership is not corrupt down here. The training sessions are enlightening and well worth the time. Many coppers here have acquired skills they are already proud of in less than a week. We are being re-orietated daily, and we get to meet new people. For those that are going to be denied this privilege, I'm sorry, but you are going to Miss much. It is not always about the downsides , you know.. besides, it is a noble ideal to be called to serve our fatherland, so let us not share the frustrations of these unpatriotic Nigeians. |
thank God Fashola is proactive and wise at handling the Ebola issue. if it were that zombie Borno state governor where the girls were abducted now, Ebola would have spread across Nigeria by now. |
After reading this, I'll say shame on MTN Nigeria because I'm quite convinced they won't be quick to welcome this idea till they can prove me wrong. All the same, I see the price of internet falling to zero or almost with initiatives like this, and Project Loon. It's just a matter of time that this capitalistic mentality towards the internet will be shaken to it's roots. At least, if you can't provide quality public education that is affordable, provide internet which people can use to educate themselves. The issue is that the end users wouldn't sabotage the opportunity to chat and view irrelevant stuffs and share gossips around the internet. |
Oduduwaboy: I dont like this reasoning from a Nigerian in the 21st century. Anyway, this is Africa!!!look gentleman, we can't reject the possibility of such a rational thought. The west have always tried to curb Africa with supremacy strategies. Think of slave trade, Colonialism, laying the foundation for tribal prejudice and corruption, brain drain, modern century slavery (through lottery, etc) and now the 'invention' of killer dieases. Yet we are too dumb to put pieces together. Is this the first time primates have been interacting with man in Africa? I believe it is their biological weapon to keep rising population of African countries in check, when they know HIV isn't killing fast enough. Let's all pretend to be too civilized to ration out this anyway... EDIT: seems the previous post shared my views. funny enough, I didn't even read it, just quoted you directly from the first page. |
same here, Akwa Ibom, (AK). Do they have stable light? Network and how is the economy of the state? How welcoming are they to strangers? I believe it should be relatively peaceful...? |
eaglechild: This is the consequence of substandard universities doling out first class certificates like pure water.you should have reasoned better before contributing. Did you think it was Federal Poly Ado or a private university? It's just so unfortunate these bad eggs soiled the integrity of a quality and much trusted brand, just as how few Nigerians in diaspora are representing the rest of us badly everywhere |
Bubewilson: Wow can you believe this its just 7 days to go wowowowowow i pray for stream 1 ooooo.many thanks for this. Please check the second download link, it is broken. Hello everyone! |
@Op, you're either immature, or not at grip with your cultural identity. Since you're advocating feminism/the rights of women as the head of the home, better welcome the gay agenda open-handed because they are both western ideals.Well, just so you know, the African culture automatically places a man as the head of the home. In some Igbo culture, women opinion don't even count, as I heard. It might not be fair, but life itself isn't. learn to be submissive to your husband if you're married, if you want to be a proper African woman! |
thanks for your opinion, but do you not think that for a disease with far-reaching international consequences, scientists wouldn't have considered all positive options? It is not Nigerian scientists that are concerned, you know... |
Why, in 2014 should we still be discussing the post-colonial hangover of African nations? Arguing if their land-locked status or the langage they speak determines their success? What else should we attribute to the inability of African leaders to arise and take charge of their nation's destiny? The fact that it doesn't snow in Africa or no ice caps? A Yoruba proverb is translated thus: if we dish pounded yam in a (single) leaf and the soup in groundnut shell, someone or two would still be satisfied on eating the meal. Exactly how it is with African countries, I think. |
I don't think the OP has the best interests of the country at heart, for going around the internet, searching for which country is warning her citizens to stay away from Nigeria. I am sorry to say, but that effort is such a waste of efforts, when you can rather read more interesting and positive news about the nation like the recent revaluation of the poverty standard, the fact that 30 car companies will soon start operation in Nigeria, more foreign investments and attention on the Nigerian soil among others. Let's think and believe positive about this nation for once. There is no perfect nation on earth, and we must do away with our differing beliefs in polity and unsportmanlike conduct. EDIT: afkinsider.com/53705/10-most-polluted-african-cities/11/ I used to think Lagos is worst off interms of pollution till I read this article. fortune.com/2014/06/12/lagos-nigeria-big-apple/ here is a Fortune Magazine article expounding the possibilities of Lagos. I think there are more positive news on the internet on Nigeria. |
let them continue to dominate the air waves with their vain propaganda. It happened in Ondo state then, yet the people's choice as at then still won the election. It's whom the people choose that will win the election come August. Ekiti proved this recently, upon the rice sharing strategy. |
Obiagelli: a pm? Cos i can't find your mail address. Thanks.I didn't hear from you. |
Tolerance don't mean we should tolerate intolerance. I really believe this is an atheist inspired action. Having nothing they venerate, they like to go ahead and desecrate anything called holy, either to provoke the Supernatural force if truly existing, or to disprove its credibility. It may not be different from feeding Christians to lions in the old Roman times. The world is a close loop sphere, so it is the era of militant atheism. "If the son of man returns, will He find faith on earth?" Asked Jesus as He was leaving! |
Obiagelli: a pm? Cos i can't find your mail address. Thanks.yes please. |
Obiagelli: God bless you for your response, can you help me get parent stock? Do they accept artificial feeds.Yes ma'am. I have done that before. Send an e-mail message through my contact so we can get talking. |
Obiagelli: i would like to start a shrimp farm, i have been doing a lot of reading, is there anyone that knows where i can get life shrimp. As a matter of fact, you can't actually grow most shrimps in freshwater environment because they are marine organisms. Except you have access to artificial or fresh seawater. The good news is that you can grow prawns, which are close cousins in earthen ponds. These are freshwater dwellers, and you can get them in large rivers. (Google: African river prawn, Macrobranchium spp.) I am sure of Asejire reservoir near Ibadan, where you can access the parent stock. Since they are not like fishes, they require more stable water quality parameters for their survival. In other words, you can't grow them as you would grow catfish or Tilapia which can tolerate varying conditions, both. Hence, they require a great deal of expertise to manage. Anyone interested further may link up with me. |
naijatechworld: But thats what competition is all about. Before Google, there was Altavista. B4 Facebook, MySpace.I just love that! it's the guerrilla spirit that makes Samsung a dominant tech company today, getting a big slice of the action from Apple that creates the innovation. Of course we all know Samsung clones Apple products basically. Another similar example is Dreamworks/Disney-Pixar. So I Guess saying don't reinvent the wheel is a lame excuse for not wanting to make a difference at all costs. |
Now all these lists are not just stupid, they are very stupid! We keep comparing Universities in a continent associated with utter backwardness and low human capacity development. The most ridiculous part is that these universities listed are an elite cult. The proponents argue that education is expensive and should be kept that way, in a continent where a great number of people barely make it to bed with enough food every night, you're here talking of expensive university degrees. I daresay these universities can never change Africa as they hope, because they are islands, detached from the real issues that bothers Africa. They would just be like the church as a powerful institution, yet not disposed to use her influence to bear on social issues, and other mattters that bother the humanity and the human condition, positively. |
I Guess the angel came to snap your friend from the rear.. Lol. which phone was he holding? iPhone of Samsung? |
I think the boy is a psychopath, perhaps noticing this trait early, the parents failed to do anything about it. Afterall, he's not the first person to do drugs and be angered by a parent in Nigeria. What he's done will become clearer to him behind bars,as the day goes by. A Yoruba proverb said may the devil not afflict me and not afflict anybody else. I'm sure he must be a troubled child, born in a pampered environment. |
