well, pray our dear country overcomes local terrorism and other violent issues, we are quite blessed with tourism hotspots. Not as much as Kenya, Uganda and other African countries, I'd say; especially as we have killed all our wildlife. Take for example, Sambissa forest was at a point in time, a game reserve, now a base for the much dreaded Book Haram. No right thinking foreigner would currently want to go to the northern part of Nigeria for tourism, I would sadly say. Even, down south and across every part of Nigeria, it is still with extreme caution. I was on chat with an Ugandan recently, and I learnt there is a high concentration of white people that do come there frequently for tourism, thus improving local economy. And there is noo fear of being kidnapped there. If we repair our systems, cultivate peace with ourselves, and unite cultural differences, foreigners could actually come to observe our lifestyle one day. Meanwhile, tourism is a big potential for Nigeria, and it depends on young minds like yours to bring it to mainstream. Do consider and study more on eco-tourism, because it is a more responsible form of tourism that doesn't harm the environment. Best Wishes! |
Do clarify. Are you asking about the prospects of tourism in Nigeria or your chances as a student studying it? |
I watched a documentry lately about the contribution of conventional energy sources to global warming and it was really an eye-opener. It featured also, the technology on ground that many countries around the world have adopted to ensure zero carbon emission. Down here in Nigeria, I reason with our oil (and coal) reserves which we are so proud of, we are not thinking of migrating anytime soon, towards green energy. So I like to ask, is Nigeria generally green conscious? If yes, what solid plans do we have on ground concerning this? Then are there 'green thinkers' in the Nigerian government or even the private sector? |
Please do take these wannnabe hacker's treat very seriously. We can't afford the loss of our contributions/intelligent views/side businesses or as the case may be again on Nairaland. |
Yes, I believe so too. So much investments, yet so little results to show for it. I'm not a football fan, yet I don't feel I miss much when Super Eagles do their thingy. They never go far in any tournament, if we're to be sincere with ourselves. The Americans have their own National sports, the Indian have cricket, yet we blow ourselves up here and die of heart attack watching two foreign teams playing against themselves. Why can't we create and patronize our own sports? with a population this strong, we can't imagine how far we can take ourselves interms of support. That is where patriotism/nationalism comes to play. What types of tribal sports could be nationall enjoyed without tribalism playing itself out? Here we are, waiting till 2018 again, then some rounds of prophecy and then, same old story. |
brilliant article indeed. I fear the reasons listed are not far-fetched from what I think would make GEJ win again in 2015. Just as one friend said, Ekiti's electoral result would determine the presidential elections outcome, come 2015. Not that Jonathan is the best for the job, but better him there than some Tinubu/Northern allaince. These people become ravenous in their ideals, though they tote progressivesness. It only takes foresight to see this.. the devil we know is better than the angel with sugar-coated pomises! |
where are you based? How is this better or more powerful than the normal power bank? |
adconline: How does this connect with security problems in Abuja and the rest of the country. Obama does not control NY Post, NYT and Washing Post. No wonder Naija IQ is 68.Perhaps you should read the post again, and point out the connection, Einstein. The facts are not isolated. |
Well, it's very easy to sit right in Obama-led America and judge harshly, some country beffudled with controversies. Unfortunately, Nigeria is Africa's 'big Apple'. It's here Americans, Chinese and any other international enterpreneurs are rushing to, to sink their assets because of obvious reasons. Sometimes I'm a GEJ critic myself, but when I try to look at the bigger picture, I'll say in his Fedora, he's doing quite a great job, protecting the interests of the country from the hands of ravenous wolves. Even the very best of human leader many of us worship today, Jesus Christ, was at a point in time, killed 'cos of his leadership strategies. No country was ever built in a day, no matter the best effots of their capable leaders. Let them snicker on and keep wishing us good luck. We'd sure need it. |
In as much as I also frown at overpriced education, you guys are forgetting one thing. The cult and culture of elitism. Poor people are weeded out automatically from such environment, so as a student, you only get to meet the people that matter.Imagine by 2030, your child gets to school with the likes of Obama's of today, so for the mere fact that elites replicate themselves and are aggressive about admittance to their camp, such schools will still be in vogue. |
I think you should just follow your heart sir/madam. Everything you need is at the other side of fear. Perhaps, the cons are just over-rated. Some Nigerian mechanics may not be as dumb as many people rate them, especially for recent car technology that many Nigerians feel so passionate about. My little 1 kobo. So, why not? |
I guess this wouldn't make news now, till they declare intentions to build 3 km Churches. I will never speak against the exploits of Nigerian Churches in 2014. God has a plan to enrich His churches particularly in this end-time as a strategy of keeping them in relevance, and busy with their ultimate assignments. If you can't beat the system, then join in! Just saying! |
Okay fellow Nigerians, here is the thing. In terms of energy production, no other alternative source packs as much energy per volume as crude oil. Not the over hyped algae or even intermittent solar, wind or wave energy. Especially given the fact that it is another lab invention that promises to do what took nature millions of years to do in just 1 hour! Haba!!! We all should take to the streets to protest this monstrosity. We are still trying to curb the negative effects of GMO's and other lab grown concepts like synthetic fertilizers. So, good old Nigeria and the oil companies need not worry just yet about this project shattering oil prices. Infact, I see oil prices rising in years to come, believe me. Maybe when they make saltwater power engines, then we all can start having nightmares that day. |
What a fake thread! Nigerians will just believe anything! *sighs |
Just what is the problem with these young American career ladies? The other day it was one gunning down an African lion and proudly uploading pictures on the internet, recently it is another dumb one who thinks AIDS fly like Mosquitoes in Africa. You would think that women of their caliber would have a better sense of places around the world. It's the fault of the sensational American media anyway, that often brings a biased picture to their TV screens. I guess they also still think most of us are slum dwellers and the rest still sew leaves as clothes. |
Nonsense. Don't bath, loose your belt, walk about or sit down after every meal. The scientist that compiled this must be thinking with his small intestine! What should we now do? Lie down on a bed and raise one leg up? |
Gentleman, it depends on your needsa anyway, but if you're the internet saavy type, better don't allow the glossy attractions of Android devices, trap you into not getting the best out of your smartphone! The fact is that you can't enjoy android phones without sufficient internet, you may only be able to play games like a secondary school boy. The bitter truth is that Android unlimited data plans in Nigeria for today (and maybe tomorrow) isn't feasible by the networks, because BANDWITH IS VERYY EXPENSIVE!!!! I used to be a long-term fan of Android till the Airtel BIS I use to power it stop working. I reason that for how long would I keep deceiving myself, carrying a phone I can't have my email delivered automatically for one, without draining a hole in my pocket? Not to talk of the constant browsing and all. Now, I'm using an EDGE Blackberry and I'm entirely happy with it. Glo gives a legitimate 3 Gig for just #1000, monthly. So, make your choice wisely |
Why have a smartphone with a powerful tool for interaction like the Instant Messaging platform and use it to discuss pictures of local celebrities, food and fashion? Why can't we rather brainstorm on what's important and affects our ultimate future as African young people? They say like minds flock together, but the modernist perception to that proverb is that "like minds chat together", because the internet allows us, perhaps the greatest collaborative platform ever known to man, let us use it wisely. Discuss the next big thing with an enlightened individual while you're stuck in traffic. Don't waste another minute of your creative ability, opt in today! Nigerian political leaders and their sheer heartlessness! I understand Oshiomole actually told a poor widow hawker to ''go and die'' in the unblinking eye of a camera. This same governor actually picketed at another poor woman under tension by making her spell publicly. Who wouldn't be tensed under such circumstances? I think we don't have a reformer there, rather a cold, and unmerciful leader on stage. Only time will tell, Memento Mori! |
you didn't answer the question! Which one among the listed is enough to charge those phones? What can 5000 mah charge that 1500 own cannot? Fridge? |
Better don't get your hopes up on Android, op? especially with the Nigerian factor. As an experienced android user myself and still one presently, I would say Blackberry would have been the best mobile platform for Nigerians, especially given it's cheap internet connectivity and its simplicity. Those apps you listed are probably worthless to me, because mine would be same to you too … (Evernotes, Torrent Client, Sketch book pro, Ttpod, Pocket, Opera mini and the social apps, many of which also have their Blackberry equivalents). Although I'll agree that Android has rich application bouquet, but what exactly is a smartphone with no ENOUGH internet to power it if not a Nokia touch light? And it's only Blackberry that offers that, that is why a whole lot of Nigerians still love it till tomorrow -internet saavy professionals, students and social conscious ladies alike. |
so which particular one is suitable to charge either a Blackberry or an Android phone? |
I don't know why Nigerians are always super excited about Tecno products like they are the next best tech products in market. I guess I used to think like that too in my early android days till I got better enlightened. Wake me up when Tecno releases anything in gorrila glass and 16 million colours. Tecno smart indeed! |
I curse whoever did this! May he or she never live to know peace all their lives! You just denied a nation another potential star, apart from ruining my day! Psychopath! |
only in Nigeria will people give you business idea and include their phone number. A testimony to the fact that there is no free financial information anywhere. Despite this, I'll encourage you to go invest your money in agriculture. People will eat and commute daily, but not everyone wants to produce food except smart people. |
I wouldn't actually blame you or your Medusa. I will blame the moderators that allowed this worthless piece of junk to make the front-page. I think the people at the helms of affairs at Nairaland ought to know that the topic that makes the front-page matters. In this 2013 when scientific knowledge has probed the outer realms of our planetary system, you're still using your time to research medusa? How exactly is your so called 'research' impacting and uplifting the people of God? Christianity isn't synonymous with stupidity! |
All these people that makes internet analysis self don tire me. Let's just agree that most popular routes are still being plied by either keke or danfo. For your information, there are definitely two kinds of Lagos, one for the elites and one for the common man, and these two worlds never mix. They are like 'okun' and 'osa'. Come to Idumota where you will see tall skyscrapers not like any you come across in Abuja, but in this same place, you can buy singlets for just #150. Even the Makoko that is a slum has it's elitist avenue. So I don't know if perhaps, the common man is crossing his boundary lately. If you feel buses are becoming to expensive, get a bicycle like people in civilized cities around the world. It's good to reduce our carbon footprints anyway! |
Asked by a person who thinks 'BBM on android can never be sweet as it is on BB,it is jst like installing Obama,s brain inside Jonathan,s skull,nonsense.". Guy, you have a competitive world view and it would not take you far in the long run. Not everything in life works by the principle of "the most" and "the best". The sooner you understand this, the simpler your life will be! |
in this increasingly gay world, some dumb lady is insuring her bossom. This is not only unnecessary, it is wasteful, illicit and unwise. Ladies of the 21st century are becoming feminist, by intellectual approach not sexist and the hot guys are going gay, uninterested in a lady accentuating her sexual tones. |
Please who is in Lagos that can give me a stable rom on my G2 apart from mimicry and slimbeans? I need answer urgently as I will soon leave please. Thanks one guy was telling me today that the reason my phone gets hot is because it is a refurbished version of G2 and not the original one. He said it will drain battery faster than the one he claims is original. is that true? |
A serving president is being prayed for in the tomb of Jesus Christ while a state awards 360 million naira of taxpayers money for the construction of 34 mosques. How much of our budgetary allocation goes to expensive religious ideals at the expense of the citizenry? Are they promising us heaven so they can steal this earth from us? https://fbcdn-photos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn2/s720x720/1382238_452130728230849_1700323546_n.jpg www.punchng.com/news/katsina-awards-n360m- contracts-for-34-mosques/ |
