Orikinla: Capital NO!
If she should do so, trust the man to use it to insult her one day. Nah, not every man. An intelligent woman can also use it to insult him. chaircover: The man should propose; he is the one marrying the girl and not the other way round.
What the man should have done when he saw the lady about to get on her knees to propse was to quickly get down first and him do the proposing saving the girl the embarasment.
Many of us tease our husbands that they were "begging" to marry us & I would imagine the guy will tell the babe the same thing after they get marred.
BTW was it Feb 29th? cos that is the day that women are allowed to propose to their heart throbs Why should he ruin the moment He did his part by saying "YES" saving her any embarrassment although he could tell her his mind when they get home. Me just thinks, whoever proposes would take up more responsiblity in the marriage. Kapish! |

mekaboy: THE PROBLEM IS THAT THESE DAYS GIRLS READ AND BELIEVE ALOT OF RUBBISH THEY READ FROM MAGAZINES AND BLOGS. YOU SEE ALL THESE ARTICLES ON MAGAZINES, THAT SAY:
HOW TO MAKE A MAN LOVE YOU 5 WAYS TO CATCH A CHEATING BF 3 THINGS THAT MEN LIKE 6WAYS TO MAKE HIM WANT YOU.
AND GIRLS READ THESE THINGS AND BELIEVE IT, SOME OF THE PEOPLE WHO WRITE THESE THINGS ARE DIVORCED , SINGLE AND SEARCHING, YET THEY WILL BE GIVING TIPS FOR RELATIONSHIPS ON MAGAZINES BECAUSE ITS THEIR JOB WHILE IN REAL LIFE THEY DONT HAVE SUCCESSFUL RELATIONSHIP.
I WONDER HOW, A GIRL WILL BE ADVISING OTHER GIRLS ON WHAT MEN LIKE, ITS ONLY A MAN THAT CAN TELL A GIRL WHAT MEN LIKE. THE REASON I AM SAYING THIS IS BECAUSE I KNOW SHE BUYS AND READS ALL THESE MAGZ SO I GUESS THIS COULD BE ONE OF THE TIPS SHE GOT FROM THE MAGAZINE . BECAUSE I WONDER WHY SHE WOULD CALL THE RELATIONSHIP A "GAME". WELL I HAVE NOT CALLED BACK GUESS ITS TIME FOR FLEXING MUSCLES. udo101: FROM YOUR OWN COMMENTS, I GUESS U DON'T EVEN HAVE A GIRLFRIEND IN D FIRST PLACE, U JST MADE UP THIS STORY AND WANT TO GET OPINIONS TO YOUR VIRTUAL RELATIONSHIP, OTHERWISE, I SEE NO REASON WHY YOU WOULD PREFER BREAKING UP TO UPLOADING HER PICS, AND BY D WAY, WHO APPROVED DIS POST TO BE ON D FRONT PAGE?, MTSCHEWWWWW, Its either that or you just aren't too proud of the babe. Would you maintain the same stand if you were dating a beyonce or amber rose? You don't really see a future with the babe and you don't want her soiling your image on a public network. There are both pros and cons in either options you take. Most threads just die off without us knowing the end of the story. |

chipmunkey: So how does forbes richlist inspire you? I like to know. People use the list in different ways. For me, it's to know which industries are really profitable and the path they followed in making the list, It also helps as a form of guide, gives hope, etc chipmunkey: I will rather be interested in Nairaland's business model or how such rich people made it to where they are Mr Maximip. Now, we are back to what the original poster asked. How can you know they are rich without accessing the value of their businesses and assets? You need that information to get interested in the business model. You don't want to be studying models of businesses that are worth little or nothing cos it'll be a waste of time. It you're going to spend time in studying any, maximize that time by studying a very profitable one. And like I said, It starts with knowing the net-worth |

I believe people should treat a gf/bf like he/she is their first and last forgetting every previous experience or future fears.
That said, It's actually not a big deal. I could label a girl as my gf on facebook and still use that same account to scout for and
recruit chicks. I actually think its even better that way. It's like an endorsement by your chick that you're boyfriendable making
other babes skip their initial gra-gra and formings. |

Its a very smart business model they have. Yeah, 40-50% with minimal risk is not bad compared to the usual 200% which could be very risky. Matching use to be a problem like a year ago but not anymore. They seem to get all bets matched now. Even immediately. |

Nairaland is a business and a source of inspiration to some. Why don't you go ask forbes why they are making lists of the richest people in the world every year. I use www.soccerfanplay.com naija betting site. It's the best when you get to understand them cos you can choose to bet on what will not happen For Instance, if you bet on the match not ending in a draw, you make money if either sides win as long as the match doesn't end in a draw. Minimizes the risk by at least 60% and I win virtually all the time without cracking my head too much. |

Business › Re: For-Profit Library (Media Rental) Business Strategy Essay Contest by Maximip(m): 9:50pm On Oct 02, 2011 |
Seun: That's partly true, but not entirely. Nigerians read textbooks (if they can afford them) in school, religious books, motivational books, affordable romance novels, popular authors, etc. I believe they will read even more books if it's convenient and affordable to do so.
This is also partly true. The iPad, for example, is a great device for reading. But books have certain advantages. For example, you can take or put a book anywhere - taxi, molue bus, market, village, luggage, lecture hall - and not have to worry about robbers or PHCN. You don't need to have Internet access, power, or a credit card. I believe a very many Nigerians will be better served by physical books for a very long time, but it's a good idea to keep fixed costs low so the business can remain profitable as the market gradually disappears. One can move to areas where books are still needed.
A gradual transition to e-book production could be a way forward, but I think only publishers and device manufacturers (Apple, Amazon) and Google can make money from that. C'mon Seun, unless you are doing it (for-profit-library) as a community service or it's located within or around a university somewhere, it's not really worth it. If it's profit you're really looking for, you'll make more opening a bar where the youths can get wasted and do anything except read. reading non-fictional books is hard enough, even worse when they have to pay for it. I bought 4 books recently and you need some kindof super powers to carry 4 of them at the same time. with a modern e-reader, I can carry around 2500 of similar books and use the reader for up to 1 month on a single charge. And since you're talking of non-fictional books, then you mean books that you have to own to really make the best use of. Although this is based on my Initial thoughts, with the right formula, I guess you could make a library profitable. |

hardywaltz: Noticed its only women who have been advising; well from a male dear op virtually all married men have serious girlfriend so don't let it bother u; there's no xplanantion to it so I can't volunteer 1; since I got married girls have suddenly loved me the more; its been GOD's grace remaining fidel till now but I just have this feeling it aint gonna last much longer. All my married friends have serious GF(s) and I have discovered that their wives now tired of crying and complaining monitor their finances closely so as to take the lion share for her and kids when money arrives leaving them with little to throw around. With those hungry chicks no money no love; so when my friend start staying home we know he has been stripped of all his cash, when money comes from an unknown source he suddenly becomes a superstar with girls all ova him; so the best advice I can give to u is to monitor his finances; find out all sources of his finances and keep a close eye on them; the most important advice I can give u women who complain about their husbands promiscuity is to make sure he is aint doing it with 1 girl else dat girl will be d 1 to over throw u; I better go get married soon then. Seems I have nothing to lose. the second bolded is also very interesting. @OP If you're really disgusted by him, why don't you just divorce him. You're not in Nigeria so it should work out very well for you and the kids. That's what I would do to a cheating wife no matter the situation. |

Somethings are not just right. Indians love to make all the money in the world, yet they are very stingy to spend it on themselves. Only God knows what they use their money for. iice: Lol there are still surprises. Like the movie 'Valhalla Rising'. . .a bit hard to understand. I loved the cinematography, but the story get as e be. No much talking sef in the movie.
I stay away from rottentomatoes. Most movies that score high are documentaries and i don't really watch those. Valhalla Rising rates low. Never watched it, won't watch it. I remember seeing the first 10min or so, was bored to pieces and never finished it till date. Yet, i won't read what it's about just in case. If cinematography is very important even without a superb story then you must love "The Hurt Locker" a lot too. Bawss1: Goodness, that's also my MO. Just get the ratings or score and I'm off - as long as its my type of genre. If I get to know too much about the movie before I see it then I most likely won't even see. That's the same reason I hardly re-watch movies unless it was a really great one. Surprises surprises surprises Yeah, it's not easy to re-watch movies these days. There are just too many movies to be watched unless it's a very fantastic movie. |

Jayboy124: I forgot to mention (500) Days of Summer which I had to watch because all the stuff I read online. As it turned out, all the stuff I read didn't get close to describing what I watched. Fantastic film. But don't you think reading it first before watching the movie takes away some kind of excitement when watching it. iice: For a minute i was like, did i watch limitless? Anyway, i'm not solely interested in the story of a movie. Even if i know what it's about. . .i'm interested in a lot of things besides how the movie plays out. And sometimes like Jayboy124 said, if i don't have a preference, i check out reviews to guide me away from rubbish movies. Those Uwe Boll movies you know well, you can't be bothered much then if you're not interested in the story. I guess I like surprises. I stay away from the reviews. I just look at the score on IMDB and rottentomatoes anything above 7.0 or 80% is most likely a good movie, provided I like the genre of the movie. |

Very Nice thread
But some people want to be using the time machine to be going back and forth as if they are just going to buy akara.
What if you could use this machine only once?
If i could use it only once, I won't use it at all.
but if i could use it multiple times, I'll go back to when I was 14 and try to do somethings better. Get more spiritual earlier, concentrate on the more productive things and try to invent the googles and facebooks of today. The machine should better not break down, I won't want to be stuck there as my present and future is a billion times better. Won't want to skip to the future either as the fun is in the journey.
While there are some fun times in the past and some bad times too, "the butterfly effect" of changing anything could be unpleasant.
And if I can only be a spectator and not change anything, I'll like to go and watch myself as a little kid playing without any worries in the world. Wonder why someone didn't take a video of that. I won't miss it for my kids. |
