adanny01: I want to do this but am really scared.
I saw a video of Eric the car doing this by pouring water bit by bit. Is steam a safer way cause my engine makes the knocking especially during harmattan season?
What about the CAT converter, does it not clog it?
If i do the steam, for how long should one do it?
I am thinking of boiling water from a kettle with a pipe connection to intake. Your engine is readily available in the local market |

The ac Is chilling now from all vents even the door and side pillar vents that air wasn't coming out. I guess I would really need to get the car manual. Good to know it's now solved |

justiniyke29: I just got a Benz s500 w220 and I noticed that the ac only cools from the center console vent of the dashboard, all other vents blow hot air(as in like steam engine). I Ave drained and refilled the gas but it still remains the same. Take it to a garage for proper diagnosis. A lot of things could be responsible |

BestChoiceTutor: I am very grateful to everyone who contributed here. Special thanks to Mayor 2013, Cyblog123 and Sultaan. We have unplugged and cleaned the socket of the ECU but the problem remains. Since the problem has been detected what could be done If you are sure you have been doing your transmission oil change regularly. I would say next step is to have a close look at your ecu connectors well. Might just be a bent male pin at the ecu or a misaligned female pin at the connectors. These route are easy to go by first |

BestChoiceTutor: Happy Sunday Automobile experts!
We have a challenge on Ford Edge car. The power steering pump was changed two days ago and the brain box was removed for security reasons. Yesterday, everything was fixed but we discovered the gear isn't picking well. The machine detected shift solenoid problem. What could have caused this? The gear was not touched at all Two things could have transpired. 1) wrong approach of pulling out ECU 2) fault has been there prior to having this new fix |

Kashif: I have seen many of them. Because of this heat/cold myth, mechanics even wait for three days!
I know you won't try it, but one day, I will come to your shop and guarantee a transmission replacement if something goes wrong with 'hot' job done properly. How about that? Come on in but do not forget to come along with your own ride so we can praticalise and thereafter preach the gospel |
Car Talk › Re: Highlander 2006 Model, Gear Not Changing After Changing Shaft by mayor2013: 8:41am On Oct 22, 2018 |
Kashif: The problem is that U150 aka 13pin transmissions are very unforgiving when contaminated. A pinch of sand is all it takes to ground them.
It is mostly tree-shed mechanics that suffer this the most, because of their work ethics and environment. During shaft replacements, they would usually drop the replacement shaft on the (sandy) ground before installation, which will guarantee dirt ingress into the transmission. When they attempt to clean, they don't do a thorough job. They would just use a rag to 'dust' it and then install. If you do this, it will come back to bite you. It needs to be washed if you work under this condition.
Another source of dirt during installation is the shaft seal. That too needs to be cleaned (as much as you can) otherwise, the dirt there will rob off on the shaft as it makes its way into the transmission. It is common to hit the seal a couple of times while aiming at the orifice.
If temperature is the issue, then how can failures after 48-hour wait be explained? I have worked on these when they had only cooled down enough to be handled without contact burns, and no issues. Do you have any failure recorded after 48hrs of waiting. Your point is top notch. But CV joint replacement when these transmissions are hot cannot be eschewed |
